      • SEAWEED EXTRACTS AS A POTENTIAL TOOL FOR THE ATTENUATION OF OXIDATIVE DAMAGE IN OBESITY‐RELATED PATHOLOGIES

        <P>Recent studies suggest that seaweed extracts are a significant source of bioactive compounds comparable to the dietary phytochemicals such as onion and tea extracts. The exploration of natural antioxidants that attenuate oxidative damage is important for developing strategies to treat obesity‐related pathologies. The objective of this study was to screen the effects of seaweed extracts of 49 species on adipocyte differentiation and reactive oxygen species (ROS) production during the adipogenesis in 3T3‐L1 adipocytes, and to investigate their total phenol contents and 2,2‐diphenyl‐1‐picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activities. Our results show that high total phenol contents were observed in the extracts of <I>Ecklonia cava</I> (see Table?1 for taxonomic authors) (681.1 ± 16.0 μg gallic acid equivalents [GAE] · g<SUP>−1</SUP>), <I>Dictyopteris undulata</I> (641.3 ± 70.7 μg GAE · g<SUP>−1</SUP>), and <I>Laurencia intermedia</I> (560.9 ± 48.1 μg GAE · g<SUP>−1</SUP>). In addition, DPPH radical scavenging activities were markedly higher in <I>Sargassum macrocarpum</I> (60.2%), <I>Polysiphonia morrowii</I> (55.0%), and <I>Ishige okamurae</I> (52.9%) than those of other seaweed extracts (<I>P </I><<I> </I>0.05). Moreover, treatment with several seaweed extracts including <I>D. undulata</I>, <I>Sargassum micracanthum</I>, <I>Chondrus ocellatus</I>, <I>Gelidium amansii</I>, <I>Gracilaria verrucosa</I>, and <I>Grateloupia lanceolata</I> significantly inhibited adipocyte differentiation and ROS production during differentiation of 3T3‐L1 preadipocytes. Furthermore, the production of ROS was positively correlated with lipid accumulation (<I>R</I><SUP>2</SUP> = 0.8149). According to these preliminary results, some of the seaweed extracts can inhibit ROS generation, which may protect against oxidative stress that is linked to obesity.       • Zeolite X 촉매를 이용한 WO₃의 CO 환원-탄화반응

        This study was performed to manufacture tungsten carbide from CO reduction- carburization of WO₃using zeolite-NaX catalyst. Zeolite-NaX catalyst could improve the reduction property of WO₃. Moreover, zeoite-HX and KX catalysts also improved the reduction property of WO₃. This improvement of reduction property leaded to the decrease of reaction temperature. The size of WC particle was 50∼60 nm at 650 ℃ for 10h. From these results, it is concluded that the various zeolite X catalysts could be used for the reduction-carburization of W0₃ as the catalysts.

Conventionalized metonymy is stored in the metonymical schemata. They include container for its contents, cause for the effect, producer for its products, instrument for its user, part for the whole, artist for his work, controller for the controlled, institution for people responsible, place for the institution, place for the event. By using the various metonymical relation, the expressions are represented properly and explicitly.         참 빛으로 함께 걸어가는 길: 지학순 주교의 가르침 안에서 나타난 현대 청소년 사목 방향에 관한 연구

        제2차 바티칸 공의회를 중심으로 보편 교회는 청소년에 대한 인식의 변화를 보인다. 단순히 신앙 교육의 대상이었던 청소년의 주체성(Subjectivity)을 강조하면서 청소년이 능동적으로 교회 선교 사명에 참여하며, 자기 삶 안에서 하느님 사랑과 이웃 사랑을 구체적으로 실천하며 살아가길 요청한다. 이러한 보편 교회의 요청은 지학순 주교의 행적과 가르침 안에서도 나타난다. 지학순 주교는 진광학원 설립을 통해 청소년의 지식적인 성장뿐만 아니라 전인적인 성장을 지향하며 사회 정의를 실현하고 공동선에 이바지할 수 있도록 인도했다. 또 지학순 주교는 청소년이 인류와 사회의 미래일 뿐만 아니라 교회와 사회를 더욱 젊게 해주는 데 중요한 역할을 한다고 확신했다. 그래서 1973년 사목 지침 ‘생활 속에서 그리스도를 찾자’에서 지학순 주교는 청년을 모든 활동의 중심에 두었다. 청년회가 중심이 되어 지금까지의 형식적인 신앙 활동에서 벗어나 교회 선교 사명에 능동적으로 참여하기를 바랐다. 이를 통해 그 당시 교회가 영성 생활과 사회 행동에 있어 잃어버린 교회의 청춘을 회복하고, 청년은 교회를 통해 신앙의 눈으로 세상을 바라보며 사회 정의가 이 사회에 실현되길 바랐다. 지학순 주교는 제2차 바티칸 공의회가 바라는 청소년의 능동적인 참여에서 한발 더 나아가 제15차 세계주교대의원회의에서 주장한 대로 청소년은, 교회와 함께 걸으며 사회 정의를 실현하고 공동선에 이바지하며 세상 안에서 하느님 사랑과 이웃 사랑을 구체적으로 실현하며 살아가길 바랐다. 그리고 이것은 오늘날 보편 교회가 강조하는 공동합의적 교회의 모습이기도 하다. 이처럼 지학순 주교의 청소년에 대한 관심은 현대 청소년 사목 방향을 찾는 데 큰 도움이 될 것이다. This study tried to find the direction of modern Youth Ministry base on the teaching of Bishop Tji Hak Soun. The Second Vatican Council was convinced that the youth can help the Church keep herself young. Consequently the subjectivity of young people to evangelizing the world was emphasized. Especially, the Church clearly organized the role of young people to realize the issue of social justice and to aspire for the common good in their daily life. For this, the Council asked young people look upon the Church’s youthful energy. Pope Francis recommended an importance of the positive role of young people for renewal in the Church and society in the Post-Synodal Exhortation 『Cristus Vivit』. In this document, he clearly appeals to the relationship between the Church and youth. The Church needs young people to keep her young and can prevent her from becoming corrupt. In addition, young people can discern their life through the vision of faith. Like this idea of the universal Church can be discovered in the teaching of Bishop Tji Hak Soun. He looked to young people with confidence and with love. He believed that young people are the hope of the Church and society for its renewal. Therefore he stressed their positive participation in the mission of the Church and what the universal Church expected to young people. This idea can be found in the establishment of the Jin-Kang Institute and in his pastoral letter of “Find Christ in our daily life” (1973). Bishop Tji, aimed to develop not only their intellectual growth but also their moral and spiritual growth. Moreover, when he tried to implement his pastoral letter, 1973, he put young people at the core of it. He hoped young people would evolve from a formal faith life and find their identity as a good Christian and thereby finally, be involved in the evangelization of the world. Moreover, they can help the Church keep her young people and vitalize their enthusiasm to build of Kingdom of God into the world. Beside, young people can decide their life towards God through their vision of faith as emphasized from the universal Church and thus realize the understanding of Synodality. From here, we can find the direction of modern Youth Ministry. Obviously, Youth ministry and young people should seek the path of Synodality. Young people is not any more the objective of faith education or formation, but they are the protagonists who have a great responsibility to participate in the mission of the Church for evangelization.

      • Purge & Trap-GC를 이용한 의약품 필름코팅 정제 중 잔류용제에 관한 연구

        의약품은 약물을 생체에 적풋하기 위하여 유효성분의 효과가 언제나 일정하게 확보되고 사응에 편리하도록 만들어지는 것이므로 유효썽분 이외에 약효에 영향을 주지 않는 성분이 첨가되는 경운가 많다. 이 때 사용되는 용매들은 제피의 광택 및 건쪼시간의 단축 등을 위하여 휘발점이 낮을 용매들이 주로 사용되어진다. 본 연구는 의약품 필름코팅정제 중 잔류용매 4종(chlorofonr benzen, trichloro ethylen, 1,4-dioxane)에 대한 변형된 pirge & trap-GC 장치를 이용한 동시분석방법을 개발하였으며, 각 표준품의 RSD 값은 chloroform 3.03%, benzen 3.17%, trichloroethylen 3.69% and 1,4-dioxane 3.41%였다. 또한 시중 유통중인 의약품 50종에 대하여 잔류웅매 양을 측정하였으며, 검출되는 잔류용매는 한 건도 없었다. This study nras carried out to develope the analytical method for the mixture of chlorefonn, benzen, trichloroethylen and 1,4-dioxane simultaneously and determine the remainingorgauic solvents in coating tablets by Purge & Trap-GC. The results were as follouFs ; 1. Chloroform, benzen, trio:tloroethylen and 1,4-dioxane separated by tenax #5 trap by HP-624GC column by terrlperature programming. The peaks were separated completely at retentiontime of 6.88min for chloroform, 8.21min for benzen, 10.38miu for trichloroethylen and 11.95minfor 1,4-dioxane. 2. Standard RSD were individually chloroform 3.03%, benzen 3.17%, trichloroethylen 3.69%and 1,4-diorane 3.41%. 3. 60 samples were not detrcted chloroform, benzen, trichloroethylen and 1,4-dioxane.

      • 혈액 투석 환자에서 중심정맥 협착에 대한 스텐트 삽입술 : Wallstent Placement

        Stenosis of central vein is a common complication arising after percutaneous subclavian vein catheter insertion performed for temporary vascular access in chronic renal failure patients undergoing hemodialysis. There are several treatment methods for the condition like percutaneous angioplasty(PTA), stent insertion, and surgery, but recent trend is toward PTA and stents. Among the patients diagnosed with chronic renal failure from March 1993 to May 2002 and undergoing hemodialysis through AV fistula, the 14 Patients in whom central vein stenosis arose were selected for the study. A total of 28 percutaneous interventions(5 PTA and 23 stent placement) were performed, and restenosis rate and the time taken till the restenosis in de novo lesions and instant lesions were compared. All 28 cases were operated successfully. The 14 cases that received both anigioplasty and stent placement initially. (de novo lesion : 14 cases), Among the 10 cases with de novo lesion that followed up more than 1 year, 3 cases are currently undergoing hemodialysis without restenosis, and the remaining 7 cases have recurred stenosis with the mean time to restenosis of 10.9 months. In the 7 cases in whom stenosis recurred, 11 interventions were done(instent lesion: 11 cases). 4 of these were using only ballon angioplasty with 100% restenosis rate and the mean time of 3 months until restenosis. The remaining 7 cases were using both balloon angioplasty and stent placement, also with 100% restenosis rate but with the mean time of 12 months until restenosis, which was later than the group receiving only balloon angioplasty. In treating the patients with central vein stenosis, stent placement seems to be more advantageous over PTA in terms of restenosis rate and the mean duration of patency. In the case of instent lesion, inserting the stent for the second time after stenosis recurred lengthened the duration of patency compared to performing balloon angioplasty alone.

        It is essential that we put the anticoagulant into the blood specimen of the CBC test. However, the value of some parameters in the CBC test can be changed whenever using some anticoagulants. EDTA anticoagulant is mostly used these days. There are 3 kinds of EDTA, that is K_(2-), K_(3-), and Na_(2-) EDTA. The author studies how many effects each the EDTA gets into the true value of blood specimen for MCV of RBCs. Especially we compared the MCV effect of different concentrations of 3 EDTA anticoagulants on the bias with time and instrument. Some results are gotten. In our results, K_(3-)EDTA anticoagulant shows more satisfactory MCV value than K_(2) or Na_(2-)EDTA. On using concentration of EDTA, 1.5㎎ EDTA/㎖ of blood show more satisfactory MCV value than 7.5㎎ EDTA/㎖ of blood. However, the choice of anticoagulant may be dependant on the different instruments.

        Clinical Experience of Single-Session Percutaneous Aspiration and OK-432 Sclerotherapy for Treatment of Simple Renal Cysts: 1-Year Follow-Up

        <P>PURPOSE: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of single-session OK-432 sclerotherapy for the treatment of renal cysts. MATERIALS AND METHODS: From October 2005 to November 2006, 48 patients (61 simple renal cysts) were included in the study. Indications were determined as flank discomfort (n = 37) or patient reassurance due to increasing size (n = 11). The simple renal cysts were aspirated under ultrasonography (US), at which point OK-432 was injected into the cyst. Follow-up was performed with US or computed tomography scan every 3 months until 1 year. Complete regression of the renal cyst or more than 70% reduction in size with no symptoms indicated a successful treatment. RESULTS: Among 61 renal cysts of 48 patients, the overall success rate was 98.4%. Complete regression occurred in 46 cysts (75.4%), and more than 90% reduction in size occurred in 6 cysts (9.8%). A size reduction of 80% to 90% and 70% to 80% occurred in five (8.2%) and three cysts (4.9%), respectively. A size reduction less than 70% occurred in only one cyst (1.6%). The success of cyst regression was correlated with cyst volume. Clinical symptoms resolved in 100% of patients with symptomatic cysts, and there was no enlargement of the aspirated cysts at the 1-year follow-up. After the procedure, there were only some minor complications, such as mild fever, flank pain, and leukocytosis, which subsided with the conservative treatment. CONCLUSIONS: Percutaneous OK-432 sclerotherapy is simple, safe, and effective, and it can be an alternative first-line therapy for simple renal cysts.</P>

      • 부착규조류를 이용한 천안천의 생물학적 수질평가

        충청남도 천안시에 위치한 천안천을 대상으로 상류에서 하류까지 3개 정점에 대하여 2009년 4월에 부착규조류 군집과 생물학적 수질평가(Biological water quality)를 실시하였다. 천안천의 부착규조류는 총 30분류군이 출현하였으며, 대부분 Navicula와 Nitzschia 속에 속하는 분류군으로서 유기오염 선호종(Saprophilous species)들이 출현하였다. 우점좀과 아우점종으로는 Nitzschia palea와 Navicula pupula가 모든 정점에서 출현하였으며, 약 50%의 높은 우점율을 나타냈다. 생물학적 수질평가는 상류에서 하류까지 α중부수성(α-mesosaprobic) 에서 β중부수성(β-mesosaprobic)으로 천안천은 유입 유역으로부터 심한 오염부하를 받는것으로 판단된다. This research was to assess the biological water quality and epilithic diatoms community from 3 sites in Cheonan-stream located at Cheonan, Chungcheongnam-do on April 2009. As a result, total of 30 taxa of diatoms appeared. Most taxa found were Saporophilous species such as Navicula and Nitzschia. Dominant species and subdominant species, Nitzschia palea and Navicula pupula appeared in all sites showing high relative frequency of about 50%. As a result of the biological water quality assessment, Cheonan-stream was found to be alpha mesosaprobic to beta mesosaprobic from upstream to downstream, receiving pollutant load from the basin.
