        백서에서 당뇨유발후 미세혈관 문합술에 대한 실험적 연구

        The comparative risk of microvascular anastomotic failure in diabetic patients undergoing more routine reconstructive procedures is unknown because of the small number of diabetic patients in published clinical series. While the suggestion that diabetes be regarded as a contraindication to microsurgery is probable not justifiable, this study confirms the theoretical possibility that diabetes has a deleterious effect on anastomotic healing. A study of the process of endothelial healing and of patency rates in microvascular anasotmoses in the diabetic state has been undertaken in an animal model using scanning electron microscopy. The mean area of re-endothelialisation at 10 days,200 microns on either side of the experimental microarterial anastomosis was 61.3% in non-diabetic controls compares to 16.6% in the untreated diabetic group and 13.2% in the insulin treated diabetic group. The degree of intimal repair was significantly lower in the diabetic group compared to controls.(p<0.01) Defective re-endothelialisation may contribute to anastomotic failure in clinical practice.

      • 대전시 대형빌딩 사무실 근무자들의 실내공기에 대한 주관적 평가와 자극증상

        In order to evaluate the indoor air quality of the building offices and to know the health symtoms of office workers, this questionaire survey was conducted from the 570 workers employed in the 9 large buildings(4 naturally ventilated and 5 mechanically ventilated) in Taejon area from 1 July, 1993 to August, 1993. The results were summarized as follows. 1. An opinions of the building office workers on the indoor air quality was higher in the rates of dissatisfaction as 57.0% than that of satisfaction as 43.0%. 2. The dissatisfaction rates by the workers on the indoor air quality were higher in the mechanically ventilated buildings than naturally ventilated, buildings compared with contributing factors such as age, sex, marital status, duration of work, work hours per day, number of workers per floor space, smoking in the office, operate a computer and a copier in the office etc. 3. The reasons of dissatisfaction by the office workers on the indoor air quality were "bad circulation", "dusty", "too dry", "too hot" and "noisy" in that order. But the "ban circulation " " dusty" and "too dry" were significantly higher in the mechanically ventilated buildings than the naturally ventilated building( P<0.05). 4. Most workers answered the times when the indoor air quality is worst were during "hot", in the "afternoons", "crowdy" and "cold" in that order. Especially, the times when "Rainy and snowy" and "crowdy" were significantly higher in the mechanical ventilated buildings than the naturally ventilated buildings(P<0.05). 5. They complained symptoms such as "congested eyes" "runny nose" "stuffy nose" "nausea" and "drowsiness" and the rates of symptoms complained were significantly higher in the mechanical ventilated buildings than the naturally ventilated buildings (P<0.05).

        노인의 음주와 삶의 만족도에 관한 연구

        Purpose : To identify alcohol consumption and life satisfaction and related factors and to provide basic data for the development of interventions for older adults. Method : The participants were 260 older adults who responded to a structured questionnaire including the NAST and LSI-Z scales. Data were analyzed by SPSS program using freouencies, t-test, ANOVA with Tukey's test. Result : The findings of this study indicate that Korean older adults have severe alcohol problems as 36.2% of them were present drinkers, and 7.3% had an alcohol use disorder. There were significant differences for present drinkers according to gender, age, educational level, religion and type of residences. Life satisfaction for present drinkers was higher than that of non-drinker, but life satisfaction scores for older adults with an alcohol use disorder were lower than that of normal drinkers. Conclusion : There is a need to develop adequate interventions for the elderly population to prevent drinking problems and to enhance quality of life for this population.

        초등학교 급식의 영양관리 현황 및 개선 방안 연구

        The Korea School Lunch Program mandates that school meals should safeguard the health and well-being of our children. School meals provide a nutritious diet that contains at least 1/3 of the daily Recommended Dietary Allowances of necessary nutrients at reasonable prices. This study was performed to assess the nutritional management of primary school meals, and to provide basic data for improvement of school meal nutritional guidelines. Three hundred and thirty six dietitians who worked at primary school! were recruited using a stratified sampling method. A survey was done by e-mail with a set of questionnaires about nutritional meal management. During school lunch planning, dietitians referred nutrition standards with priority, followed by students' food preferences and food hygiene. They considered energy as a most important nutrient during primary school lunch planning, followed by protein and calcium. Protein is usually over-served, whereas iron, vitamin A and calcium are usually under-served during primary school meal planning. For first and second grade primary students, grains, meat and vegetable side dishes seemed to be large compared to their eating capacity. Over 92% of school dietitians agreed the needs of food group standards for primary school lunch program. For making a checklist of the school lunch program, energy, protein and calcium were highly recommended, and meat·fish·egg group, vegetable·fruit group and dairy group were also highly recommended by school dietitians. Cooking method was also highly recommended. School dietitians proposed that remodeling of school kitchens and new cooking machine were the most important factors for improving school lunch system. These results suggest that food standards should be established for health-oriented nutritional management of primary school lunch programs. Nutritional checklists could include nutrient-rich foods and food groups, and items about cooking methods.

        가족성 정신분열병 환자에서 임상 특성의 가족내 연관성

        Objectives : This study aims at examining familial associations of symptoms and clinical characteristics in affected sibling or relative pairs of schizophrenia as an effort to identify genetically homogeneous phenotypes. Methods : Forty-seven relative pairs with DSM-IV diagnosis of schizophrenia from thirty-five Korean families multiply affected with schizophrenia were ascertained. Direct interviews were done using the Korean version of Diagnostic Interview for Genetic Studies (DIGS). The Krawieka Rating Scale and the Schedule for the Deficit Syndrome were also applied for further evaluation of psychopathologies. Intra-familial concordances and correlations of clinical characteristics and symptoms were tested using χ² -test and Spearman's correlation. Results : Significantly high concordance rate within relative pairs was found for the diagnosis of paranoid vs. non-paranoidsubtype (χ²=7.623, P=0.006, df=1). Deficit vs. non-deficit syndrome also showed significant concordance (χ² =3.850, p=0.0497, df=1). Among single symptom items in DIGS, only 'auditory hallucination' showed significant concordance rate ( χ² =5.503, P=0.019, df=1). Factor analysis for symptoms items in the Rrawiecka Rating Scale indicated three symptom dimensions ; negative, psychotic and affective, Psychotic (P =0.442, P=0.003) and affective dimension scores (p =0.427, P=0.004) showed significant intra-familial correlations. Age at onset of recognized psychotic symptoms showed significant correlation only within the male sibling pairs. Conclusion : Familial factors, Possibly genetic factor contribute to the phenotypic characteristics of paranoid vs. non-para-noid subtype, deficit vs. non-deficit syndrome, auditory hallucination, and affective syndrome, It supports their use in the delineation of homogeneous subgroups for future genetic studies.

        둥시 장아찌 제조 과정 중 이화학적 특성 변화

        떫은감 품종의 하나인 등시를 이용하여 감장아찌 제조 중 과육의 이화학적 변화를 조사한 결과, 염도 변화는 저농도 간장 및 된장 침지의 경우 다소 완만한 증가를 보였고, 고농도의 간장 및 된장 침지의 경우 침지 기간내내 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 간장 침지액 감장아찌의 경도는 간장 및 된장 모두 20-80% 농도에서는 침지 초기에는 증가하다가 침지 기간이 경과할수록 감소하는 경향을 나타내었다. 간장 침지 감장아찌의 색도 변화는 저장기간이 경과할수록 명도가 낮아지는 경향이었고, 적색도와 황색도는 침지액 농도를 달리하였을 경우 농도가 낮을수록, 침지 기간이 길어질수록 높았으며, 침지액 농도에 따른 차이는 크지 않았다. 침지액의 간장 및 된장의 농도를 달리하였을 때 감장아찌 중의 탄닌함량의 변화는 모든 침지액 농도에서 침지 기간이 지속될수록 탄닌의 함량은 저장 초기에 서서히 감소되다가 침지 기간이 길어질수록 급격히 감소하였으며, 첨가량에 따른 탄닌함량의 변화폭은 크지 않았다. 침지액의 간장 및 된장의 농도를 달리하였을 때 감과육에 존재하는 연화효소인 polygalacturonase와 pectinesterase 활성 변화는 간장침지 및 된장침지 모두 침지 초기부터 효소활성이 증가하기 시작하였으며 침지 기간이 경화할수록 효소활성은 더욱 높아지는 것을 알 수 있었고, 침지액의 농도가 높아질수록 효소활성이 억제되었다. Changes of physicochemical properties during the preparation of persimmon pickles were investigated. The salinity in persimmon pickles increased during storage time (0~50 days) with soy sauce and soy paste. When the fermented soy sauce and soy paste was added to the soaking solution with 80~100%, the salinity increased more rapidly. The hardness of persimmon pickles with soy sauce and soy paste was slightly increased up to the 20 or 30th day of storage and then decreased. L value of persimmon pickles was gradually decreased, but a and b value were slightly increased. The concentration of soluble tannin in persimmon pickles was slightly decreased down to the 20th day of storage and then decreased rapidly. The activities of polygalacturonase and pectinesterase as softening enzyme in persimmon pickles with soy sauce and soy paste increased during storage time (0-50 days) and enzyme activity was inhibited by high concentration of soaking solution.

        반정량 식품섭취빈도조사지를 이용한 한국노인의 영양섭취 실태조사

        The aim of this study was to assess the nutrient intakes of the elderly subjects in Korea. Dietary assessment was carried out using a semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire (SQFFQ) developed by our laboratory, which included 98 commonly consumed food items selected from 1998 National Health and Nutritional Survey for Korean population. Subjects (n = 2,660) aged 50yr and over were recruited in Seoul, 6 metropolitan cities, and 8 mid-size cities. Calcium and riboflavin intakes of the elderly subjects aged 65 yr and over (n = 1,974) were much lower compared with Korean RDA. Nutrient intakes of the three age group (50 - 64 yr, 65 - 74 yr, 75 yr and over) were decreased as age increased in male and female elderly. Nutrient intakes of male elderly, 75 yr and over, were significantly decreased while in female elderly nutrient intakes were gradually decreased as age increased. Over 30% of the elderly subjects did not meet 75% RDA for calcium, iron, vitamin A, and riboflavin. The proportion of the elderly subjects whose intakes were below 75% RDA was much higher than the elderly whose intakes were above 125% RDA, especially among the elderly aged 75 yr and over. This study revealed that the Korean elderly had inadequate intakes for many nutrients. This will cause a serious nutritional problem for the elderly.

      • Form Follows Intent: Configuration of a Dragon Spirit into a Three-dimensional Dress Form

        This paper documents a dress design process to demonstrate the theory that form follows intent. It includes a statement of the design context as a venue where the conceptual intent originated. The dragon icon became the subject, form, and content of the design project. The author's designerly endeavor is discussed with focus on reconfiguration of formal characteristics shown in the visual reference of the eastern dragon symbol into a dress design with the consideration of utilitarian, expressive, and symbolic issues. Throughout the process, the author was an active agent who created formal characteristics, manifested a thought into an object, and imbued a meaning to the dress, demonstrating the notion that form follows intent.
