        This study investigates the external characteristics and the distribution frequency of gravels at the beach of Kumho river. The gravels in external form can be classified to color, hardness, rock texture, feeling and shape with an naked eye according to the each original rocks. These external features of gravels in study area are controlled by the physical property formed by the genesis of each original rock. The distribution frequency of gravel numbers at the beach occurs in volcanic rock>sedimentary rock>contact metarmorphic rock>granitic rock in sequence. It is suggested that this distribution feature can be explained by the distribution area of provenance and the stability of physical weathering to each original rocks.

      • 비디오 흉강경을 이용한 자연기흉의 수술요법

        Primary spontaneous pneumothorax has an annual incidence of 9 cases per 100,000 populations, especially high incidence in young adults. Thoracoscopic surgery is not new, but its applications to chest surgery have been more increasing with advanced video technology and instrumentation. We performed 15 cases of bullectomy using video-assisted thoracoscopy(VATS) for patients of pneumothorax. The mean age of patients was 25.1±7.6 years old, 105.5±40.1 minutes of mean operation times, and 3.2±1.9 days of postoperative tube indwelling time. Postoperative complications were persistent air leakage in one case, which was converted to open thoracotomy later, and recurrence of pneumothotax in one case. Video-assisted thoracoscopic bullectomy is effective alternative to thoracotomy for treatment of pneumothorax in terms of short hospital stay, less morbidity, low rate of recurrence, less pain, and good cosmetic results. But objective comparison with mini-thoracotomy will be needed in many aspects.

        The use of critical pathways for a variety of clinical conditions has grown rapidly in recent years, particularly pathways for patients with acute myocardial infarction. We intend to determine the impact of a clinical pathway on ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and to evaluate the efficacy and safety of facilitated percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) compared with primary PCI. Low risk STEMI patients (ST elevation >0.1mV in more than 2 limb leads or ST elevation >0.2mV in contiguous precordial lead, chest pain lasting more than 30 min without response to nitroglycerin) will be included. All patients will be also treated medically according to critical pathway. STEMI is one of the common diseases in emergency medicine and so it is necessary to establish realistic treatment guidelines. The use of critical pathways will improve the quality of care.

      • 淸道川 변에 分布하는 자갈에 對한 調査硏究

        An analysis of frequency distribution, indicates that gravels in the Ch'??ongdo stream are mainly consist of andesitic volcanic rocks, granite and quartz porphyry in frequency. This occurrence frequency of rock each is well matched with the distribution area of each rock in the geologic map from the present erosion level. Rock type of gravels can be classified into andesite, andesitic porphyry, breccia bearing andesite, quartz porphyry and tuff. The distribution of gravel size suggests that the occurrence frequency of boulder and cobble is systematically changed toward the downstream, whereas that of pebble is randomly changed. The roundness of gravel is distinctly changed and is higher in the downstream site than in the upperstream site. The occurrence of angular gravel is relatively dominant than that of rounded gravel. This doninant angular gravel is due to either the poor current quantity of stream or the rocks transported from the near provenance of rocks. The geological material discussed here are recommended as the learning material for the observation and classification of gravels in 'rock and soil' unit of science textbook.

        Stomata1 distribution in relation to the height of Pinus parviflora and Pinus koraiensis was studied 1. Stomata1 bands per needle of P parviflora and P koraiensis were 8.60±0.62 - 11.47±0.74, 14.07±1.03 - 16.60±0.99 and the number of stomata per band were 382.0±8.80 404.27±26.16, 1,326. 67±87.78 - 2,286.58±214.57, respectively 2. The number of stomatal band was significantly different between 3, 4m and 5, 6m in P parviflora and between 5, 6m and 7m in P. koraiensis Consequently, it is suggested that stomatal frequency gradient associated with increasing height above the ground is correlated with the greater degree of exposure to light.

        자돈에 있어 게르마늄 용질액의 급여가 성장 및 혈액학적 변화에 미치는 영향

        본 연구의 목적은 이산화게르마늄을 함유한 게르마늄 용질액을 자돈에 급여하였을 때 성장 및 혈액학적 변화에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위하여 실시하였다. 3원 교잡종 자돈 60두 (평균체중 11.22±0.10㎏)를 공시하였다. 시험설계는 옥수수-대두박 위주의 대조구(CON)와, 대조구 사료내 게르마늄 용질액을 0.5 ppm 첨가한 구(GC0.5) 및 대조구 사료내 게르마늄 용질액을 1.0 ppm 첨가한 구(GC1.0)로 3개 처리를 하였다. 0-10일간 사양시험기간동안, 일당증체량에 있어서 GC0.5 처리구가 약간 높게 평가되었다(quadratic effect, P<0.02). 그러나 전체 시험기간동안, 일당증체량, 일당사료섭취량 및 사료효율에 있어서 처리구간에 유의적인 차이는 보이지 않았다. 영양소 소화율에 있어서는 GC0.5 처리구가 조회분(linear effect, P<0.01; quadratic effect, P<0.04), 칼슘(linear effect, P<0.01; quadratic effect, P<0.01), 인 (linear effect, P<0.02; quadratic effect, P<0.04) 소화율이 유의적으로 높게 평가되었다. 혈액내 neutrophil 농도에 있어서는 게르마늄 용질액의 첨가 수준이 증가함에 따라 유의적으로 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다(quadratic effect, P<0.02). 결론적으로, 자돈 사료내 게르마늄 용질액의 급여가 성장 및 혈액학적 수치에는 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 사료된다. This study was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary germanium colloid on the growth performance and hematological values in nursery pigs. Sixty pigs (11.22(0.10 ㎏ average initial body weight) were used in a 20 d growth assay. Dietary treatments included 1) CON (basal diet), 2) GC0.5 (basal diet+0.5 ppm germanium colloid) and 3) GC1.0 (basal diet+1.0 ppm germanium colloid). For d 0 to 10, pigs fed GC0.5 diet grew faster than pigs fed CON and GC1.0 diets (Quadratic effect, P<0.02). However, through the entire experimental period, no statistical differences were found for aver-age daily gain, average daily feed intake and gain/feed. Apparent digestibilities of crude ash (Linear effect, P<0.01; Quadratic effect, P<0.04), calcium (Linear effect, P<0.01; Quadratic effect, P<0.01) and phosphorus (Linear effect, P<0.02; Quadratic effect, P<0.04) in pigs fed GC0.5 diet were greater than for pigs fed CON and GC1.0. Neutrophil concentration in blood increased as the concentration of germanium colloid in the diets was increased with significant difference (Quadratic effect, P<0.02). In conclusion, growth performance and hematological values were not influenced by dietary germanium colloid.

      • 베이스 구조물 진동을 고려한 스테이지 입력성형기법 적용에 관한 연구

        A base structure which mounts positioning stages is often subjected to vibration due to the reaction force against the stage motions. This paper deals with an input shaping method for positioning stage in consideration of vibration base structures along with the stage vibration. A dynamic model is established to investigate the vibration of positioning stage and base structure. Two input shapers, a conventional input shaper and a new input shaper, are applied to eliminate both the residual vibrations in base structure as well as positioning stage. Simulations show that the input shaping methods effectively remove the residual vibrations.

        A variety of precise stages are adopted for precise machinery. To secure vibration isolation, those precise stages are mounted on a heavy base structure supported by compliant springs. Then the base structure is often subjected to vibration due to the reaction force induced by the stage motion. This paper investigates the dynamic behavior of base structures as well as a vibration reduction technique. A 6 DOF dynamic model is established to investigate the vibration of positioning stage and base structure. A new input shaper is devised to eliminate both the residual vibrations in base structure. Simulations show that the proposed input shaper effectively remove the residual vibrations in base structure.

        Background: Vitamin D plays indispensable roles in the immune system, and there may be an association between vitamin D defi ciency and infection in patients with kidney transplantation (KT). Therefore, this study was aimed to investigate the impact of pre-KT vitamin D defi ciency on the development of urinary tract infection (UTI) after KT. Methods: 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] levels were measured in 410 patients within two weeks before KT. Vitamin D defi ciency was defi ned as 25(OH)D < 10 ng/mL. The primary outcome was the occurrence of UTI after KT. Cox proportional hazard analysis was performed to determine the independent association of vitamin D defi ciency with UTI. Results: The mean 25(OH)D levels were 12.8±6.9 ng/mL, and 171 patients (34.4%) were defi cient in vitamin D. Vitamin D defi ciency was signifi cantly associated with female gender [ß=2.30, 95% confi dence interval (CI) = 1.41 to 3.77, P=0.001], hemoglobin (ß=0.83, 95% CI = 0.72 to 0.95, P=0.006) and serum albumin concentrations (ß=0.17, 95% CI = 0.10 to 0.30, P <0.001), and the season of KT operation (summer, ß=0.22, 95% CI = 0.11 to 0.42, P <0.001; autumn, ß=0.32, 95% CI = 0.17 to 0.63, P=0.001, spring as a reference). During a median follow-up duration of 7.1 years, the incidence rates of UTI were signifi cantly higher in patients with vitamin D defi ciency compared to those without defi ciency [52 (30.4%) vs. 40 patients (16.7%), P=0.001). Moreover, multivariate Cox analysis showed that vitamin D defi ciency was a signifi cant independent predictor of UTI after KT (hazard ratio=1.81, 95% CI = 1.11 to 2.97, P=0.018). Conclusions: Vitamin D defi ciency was an independent risk factor for UTI after KT, suggesting that determining 25(OH)D levels might be helpful to predict infectious complications after KT.
