      • Determination of forage quality by near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy in soybean

        Soybeans have been the favored livestock forage for centuries. However, little studies have been succeed in estimating forage quality of soybean by near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy (NIRS). To establish NIR equations for soybean forage quality, 353 forage soybean samples, including an 181 recombinant inbred line population derived from PI 483463 (G. soja) ´ Hutcheson (G. max), 104 cultivated soybeans (G. max) and 68 wild soybeans (G. soja) were used to develop NIR for four quality parameters: crude protein (CP), crude fat (CF), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), and acid detergent fiber (ADF). Two NIR spectroscopy equations developed for CP and CF (2,5,5,1; multiple scatter correction [MSC]) and for NDF and ADF (1,4,4,1; MSC) were the best prediction equations for estimating these parameters. The coefficients of determination in external validation set (r2) were 0.934 for CF, 0.909 for CP, 0.767 for NDF, and 0.748 for ADF. The relative predictive determinant (RPD) ratios for MSC (2,5,5,1) calibration indicate that the CP (3.34) and CF (3.45) equations were acceptable for quantitative prediction of soybean forage quality, whereas the NDF (2.34) and ADF (1.97) equations were useful for screening purposes.         Background: Patients with intermediate- or high-grade non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) who have a relapse or refractoriness after initial standard chemotherapy generally have a poor prognosis. Conventional salvage treatment can induce lengthy remission. It is, however, not generally agreed that long-term survival has been expected in patients receiving salvage chemotherapy. The combination of high dose therapy and autologous stem cell transplantation has been considered promising in refractory or relapsed patients with NHL. Methods: The response rate and survival (disease-free and overall survival) of 15 patients with relapsed or refractory NHL who only received salvage chemotherapy was compared with those of 14 patients who has been assigned to receive high dose therapy and autologous stem cell transplantation. Results: the overall rate of response to salvage chemotherapy was 13% but that of high dose therapy with stem cell support was 58%. Disease free survival (DFS) in the salvage chemotherapy group was very low; only 2 patients survived in remission without a relapse of disease in long duration. On the contrary the rate of DFS in the transplantation group was 48% at 3 years. At 3 years, the rate of overall survival (OS) was 17% in the group receiving salvage chemotherapy and 31% in the transplantation group. Conclusion: As compared with salvage chemotherapy, treatment with high dose therapy and autologous stem cell transplantation increases disease-free and overall survival in relapsed or refractory patients with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

      • B형 간염 바이러스가 골수이식에 미치는 영향

        Hepatitis B virus may affect the course and the outcome of bone marrow transplantation. It can be one of the major infectious problems of bone marrow transplantation especially in Korea, where the hepatitis B virus carrier rate reaches upto 10%. Hence, we retrospectively reviewed 157 patients who underwent bone marrow transplantation for leukemia or aplastic anemia. Among them, 12 were found to be seropositive for hepatitis B surface antigen(HBsAg) either before or after bone marrow transplanation. Two previously seropositive recipients of seropositive marrow transplants didn't experience the disappearance of HBsAg. There were two cases of acquiring HBeAg after bone marrow transplantation. Among six seronegative recipients of seropositive marrow transplants, one patient acquired HBsAg. Six patients showed asymptomatic impairment of live function, but one patient experienced lifethreatening liver disease. These results indicated that the serologic pattern of hepatitis B virus marker in bone marrow transplantation is unpredictable. In conclusion, the preivous hepatic damage from hepatitis B virus infection may no increase the risk of posttransplantation morbidity and mortality.

      • 조혈모세포질환에서 동종골수이식후 유전자 재조합형인 과립구 : 대식세포계 집락성장인자의 효과

        Background: Bone marrow transplantation(BMT) is a therapeutic modality in the treatment of various hematopoietic stem cell disorder. But profound granulocytopeina is innevitable, and infections are major complication after BMT. To prevent these events, colony-stimulating factors has been used clinically to acceralte the recovery of normal hematopoiesis after BMT since 1980. We evaluted the efficacy of Leukogen®, recombinant human granulocyte, macrophage colony-stimulating factor (rhGM-CSF) by LG Chemical Co., after BMT. Methods: 35 patients of hematopoietic disroder were treated rhGM-CSF after allogeneic BMT. The recovery of leukocytes, the recovery of granulcytes, the frequency of febrile episode, the use of empirical systemic antibiotics, and the duration of hospitalization were compared to historical control. The adverse effects were evaluated, too. Results: Leukocytes and granulocytes recovery were markedly accerated in the rhGM-CSF treated group (p<0.05). The frequency of febrile episodes during hospital stay, and the use of empirical systemic antibitics were significantly less than historical control group(p=0.0041, 0.0001). But the mean duration of hospitalization was not different between two groups. The adverse effect of rhGM-CSF was diarrhea, abdominal pain, fever, chills, nausea, vomiting, bone pain, etc. But most of them were trivial and disappeared with analgesics, antipyretis, and antiemeties. Conclusion: rhGM-CSF accelerated leukocytes and granulosytes recovery and redudced febrile episode and use of empirical systemic antibiotics. rhGM-CSF might offer beneficial effects after BMT with trivial adverse effects.

        Preparation and Characterization of Nickel(Ⅱ) and Copper(Ⅱ) Tetaaza Macrocyclic Complexes with Isonicotinate Ligands

        The complexes [Ni(L)(INT)2]${\cdot}$5H2O (1) and [Cu(L)(H2O)](Cl)(INT)${\cdot}$3H2O (2) (L = 3,14-dimethyl-2,6,13,17-tetraazatricyclo[14,4,01.18 ,07.12 ]docosane, INT = isonicotinate) have been prepared and characterized by X-ray crystallography, electronic absorption, and cyclic voltammetry. The crystal structure of 1 reveals an axially elongated octahedral geometry with two axial isonicotinate ligands. The electronic spectra, magnetic moment, and redox potentials of 1 also show a high-spin octahedral geometry. However, 2 shows that the coordination environment around the copper atom is a distorted square-pyramid with an axial water molecule. The spectra and electrochemical behaviors of 2 are also discussed.

        CT 소견상의 소위 염증성 육아종

        Authors report 10 cases of intracranial inflammatory granulomatous lesions which were identified on CT scan and proven pathologically after surgical excision. They were composed of three cases of tuberculoma, three cases of degenerated cysticercus, two cases of healed abscess and two cases of non-specific inflammatory lesions. Most patients were children or young adults. Seizure was the most frequent presenting symptom. All cases had characteristic CT findings in common a small nodular or ring-like lesion with strong enhancement surrounded by irregular-shaped low density area. Surgical exploration is of value in that specific diagnosis would not be possible with clinical and radiological findings only.

        저자들은 골수이식 후 감염양상의 변화를 보기위하여 1989년 2월부터 1992년 10월까지 카톨릭 대학교 의과대학 부속 성모병원에 입원하여 이식을 받은 87명의 환자를 대상으로 조사하였고, 1983년 3월부터 1989년 2월까지 동 병원에서 얻은 결과와 비교하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 총발열 횟수는 양 기간동안에 유의한 차이가 없었고, 발열시기를 보면 이식편의 생착전 발열횟수가 전반기에는 37.4%였으나 최근에는 53.3%로 증가하였고 이식 후기 발열 횟수는 29.3%에서 13.3%로 감소하는 양상을 보였다. 2. 원인균은 전반기에 그람 양성균이 31.7%, 그람 음성균이 34.1%였으나 최근에는 각각 36.8%, 31.6%로 큰 차이를 나타내지 않았다. 그람 양성균중에는 포도구균이 64.2%, 그람 음성균 중에는 녹농균이 66.6%로 가장 높은 빈도를 보였다. 3. 감염 부위는 호흡기 감염이 40.7%에서 17.9%로 감소하였고, 세균 혈증 및 인두부 감염이 각각 16.9%, 10.2%로 증가하였다. 4. 감시배양에서 비인두부에서는 coagulase 음성 포도구균이 25.7%에서 56.9%로 증가하였고 특히 황색포도구균의 빈도가 증가하였다. 녹농균은 19.6%에서 5.9%로 감소하는 양상을 보였다. 대변에서는 최근에 Candida albicans Torulopsis glabrata, Enterococcus가 증가하였다. 5. 발열 당시 흉부 XTJS 양상은 양 기간동안에 간질형 침윤이 과반수 이상의 빈도를 보였고 결절성 및 고형질화 침윤은 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 골수이식 후 감염을 이식의 성공을 좌우하는 중요한 요인으로서 감염으로 인한 사망을 줄이기 위하여 감염의 조기 진단이 필요하고 과립구 감소기 감염의 대책으로 GM-CSF 등의 사용이 필요하다고 생각된다. We have compared eighty0seven allogeneic one marrow transplanation(BMT0 recipient from March-1989 to October 192 with sixty-four post-BMT patients from March-1983 February-1989 in terms of infection trend. The results were as follow;s; 1. The incidence of early post-BMT infection increased to 56 cases(53.3%, wheres that of late infection 100days after BMT decreased to 14 cases(13.3%). The total febrile episodes were 105. 2. Microbiologically defined infections(MDI) were reported in 17 cases(30.3%), and clinically defined infections(CDI) were determined in 22 cases, The majority of infection iste was blood and oropharyngeal area. 3. Among the isolated microorganisms in MDI, gram negative bacteria appeared in 12 cases(31.6%), gram positive bacteria were in 14 cases(36.85), fungi were shown in 6 cases, and mixed infection occurred in 6 cases. 4. Surveillance culture on nasopharyngeal area showed significantly increased incidence of coagulase-negative Staphylococci from 20 cases(20/660 to 41 cases(41/86). 5. The incidence of granulocyle counts over 1000/㎣ on febile episodes decreased to nine cases(12%), whereas that below 500/㎣ increase to 56 cases(75%).

        로켓연소기에서 분사기형 배플의 간극에 따른 감쇠특성 파악을 위한 상온음향시험

        분사기형 배플이 설치된 연소기에 대하여 최적의 감쇠를 가지는 간극을 상온음향시험을 통하여 규명하였다. 먼저 상온 상압의 조건에서 배플의 간극에 따른 음향학적 특성을 파악하였다. 최적의 감쇠능력을 가지는 간극이 배플의 길이에 상관없이 일정하게 존재함을 발견하였다. 이런 현상의 주된 인자를 파악하기 위하여 연소 상황에서의 유체의 정성을 모사하는 상온 상태의 음향시험을 수행하였다. 이를 통하여 최적의 간극이 발생하는 이유가 점성 때문임을 밝혔다. 최적의 간극은 실제 연소기에서 배플의 길이를 감소시킬 수 있으므로 냉각 문제를 해결할 수 있는 하나의 방안으로 사용될 수 있을 것이다. Cold acoustic tests have been performed to elucidate the effect of baffle gaps on the optimal damping characteristics in a liquid rocket combustor where coaxial injectors are installed. For several axial baffle lengths, an optimal acoustic damping capacitance has been achieved in a certain gap range. Cold acoustic tests for simulating fluid viscosity by changing the pressure in a model chamber have been done to study the main mechanism of optimal damping. Experimental data have shown that the optimal gap for high damping capacity exists mainly due to the viscosity near the gap of baffles. Therefore, axial baffle length can be reduced by using the optimal baffle gap, providing a possible solution of thermal cooling problems. Also, these optimum characteristics can be some guidelines for manufacturing and assembling injectors in full-scaled rocket combustors.

        채널의 분기 및 병합이 있는 액체로켓 연소기 재생냉각 유로에서의 수력학적 특성

        고성능 로켓엔진용 연소기에서 열적 건전성을 확보하기 위해 적용되는 재생냉각 채널은 채널의 분기/병합, 방향 전환과 같이 복잡한 유동구조를 포함한다. 냉각유로에서 발생하는 압력 손실을 마찰과 국소유통저항으로 나눠, 각각의 유통조건에 따라 경험적으로 제시된 문헌상의 계수를 적용함으로써, 재생냉각유로 설계에 효과적으로 적용할 수 있도록 수력학적 자료를 구하였다. 해석의 타당성을 검증하기 위하여 실물형 연소기의 냉각유로 설계안에 적용하였다. 먼저, 물을 사용하였을 때 모사시제를 사용한 수류시험 결과와 비교하였다. 정량적으로 타당한 결과를 얻은 것으로 확인되어, 실유체인 케로신을 사용한 수력해석을 수행하여 CFD 결과와 비교하여 수력해석 방법의 타당성을 확인할 수 있었다. Regenerative cooling passage to guarantee the thermal survivability in high performance rocket engine combustors could have complex configurations of the branching/merging of channels and flow turning, etc. By applying the classical hydraulic coefficients which can be found in the literature according to the flow conditions, hydraulic characteristics in regenerative cooling passages can be obtained effectively through dividing the pressure loss into friction loss and local resistance loss. Satisfactory agreement has been obtained by comparing the present results with experimental measurement of water flow test. In addition, the present results were in good agreement with CPD results when the actual coolant, kerosene was used. Therefore, the application of the present method is expected to be useful to design regeneratively cooled combustors.
