뇌경색증의 위험인자로서의 혈장지질분획 및 Apolipoprotein

연구배경 : 혈장지질분획 및 apolipoprotein이 뇌경색증의 발생에 위험인자로 작용하는지를 알아보기 위하여 본 연구를 시행하였다. 방법 : 대상환자는 뇌경색 남자 환자 23예 그리고 대조군은 연령이 비슷한 남자 정상인 39예로 하였으며 이들에서 총 cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL-cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, apolipoprotein A-Ⅰ, apolipoprotein A-Ⅱ 및 apolipoprotein B를 측정하고 이들의 비율을 구하였다. 결과 : 뇌경색환자군은 대조군과 비교하여 총 cholesterol치, LDL-cholesterol치 및 apolipoprotein B치의 평균치가 각각 178±28.8mg/dl, 117±31.6mg/dl 및 100±21.7mg/dl로서 대조군의 160±30.3mg/dl, 94±28.9mg/dl 및 84±14.5mg/dl보다 유의하게 높았으며 (p<0.05, p<0.01 및 p<0.01), apolipoprotein 농도는 59±11.7mg/dl로서 대조군의 70±7.9mg/dl보다 유의하게 낮았다(p<0.001). 그러나 중성지방, HDL-cholesterol 및 apolipoprotein A-Ⅰ 농도는 양군 사이에 유의한 차이가 었다. 이들의 농도 비는 뇌경색환자군에서 apolipoprotein A-Ⅰ/apolipoprotein A-Ⅱ/apolipoprotein B비는 유의하게 낮았다. 결론 : 이상의 결과 뇌경색환자에서는 정상인과 비교하여 지질성분 및 apolipoprotein 농도의 차이가 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 따라서 뇌경색환자에서의 지질검사는 일반적인 지질성분과 함께 apolipoproteins을 측정하면 지질대사에 관한 보다 유용한 정보를 얻을 수 있을 것으로 생각된다. Background : Although blood lipids and lipoproteins are closely related to coronary atherosclerosis, their association with cerebrovascular atherosclerosis is less clearly understood. Methods : In order to study the relationship of plasma lipids and apolipoproteins to cerebral infarction, plasma lipid and apolipoprotein levels were measured in 23 male survivors of cerebral infarction and in 39 agematched male healthy controls. Plasma concentrations of lipid were measured by conventional methods and apolipoproteins by Rocket immunoelectrophoresis. Results : The mean values of total cholesterol : 178±28.8mg/dl, low density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C) : 117±31.6mg/dl and aplipoprotein B : 100±21.7mg/dl were significantly higher in the patients group than in the controls respectively, 160±30.3mg/dl, 94±28.9mg/dl and 84±14.5mg/dl (p<0.05, p<0.01 and p<0.01). The concentration of apolipoprotein A-Ⅱ : 59±11.7mg/dl was significantly lower in the group of patients than 70±7.9mg/dl in the controlds (p<0.001). The concentrations of triglyceride, high density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C) and apolipoprotein A-Ⅰ showed no significant differences between the two groups. The apolipoprotein A-Ⅰ/apolipoprotein A-Ⅱ ratio was significantly higher in the group of patients than in controls, but total cholesterol/LDL-cholesterol ratio and apolipoprotein A-Ⅱ/apolipoprotein B ratio were significantly lower in the group of patients. Conclusions : This study showed the differences in lipid components and apolipoprotein concentration between patients with cerebral infarction and agematched controls. Thus the measurement of apolipoprotein concentration might be a useful parameter in assessing the risk factors of cerebrovascular diseases, expecially cerebral infarction.

Assessing Activity Limitation Among Cancer Survivors in Korea Using Data from a Nationwide Survey

Background: More than 1 million cancer survivors reside in Korea. We here investigated activity limitations of cancer survivors compared to controls without a history of cancer. Materials and Methods: Using the 4th and 5th Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2007-2012) data, we identified 1,155 adult cancer survivors. Activity limitations were defined as limitation in activities of daily living, experience of lying in a sickbed, and number of days lying in a sickbed during the last month. Descriptive analysis and multiple logistic regression compared these measures for survivors and controls by sex and age groups. Results: Approximately 29.4% of cancer survivors reported limitation in activities of daily living, 14.6% experienced lying in a sickbed, and 4.3% experienced more than 15 days lying in a sickbed during the last month. After controlling for demographic and health-related factors, cancer survivors were more likely to report activity limitation than controls. The associations were similar across sex and age groups. Conclusions: Cancer survivors have increased activity limitation compared to controls and these limitations persist across sex and age. Targeted interventions and improved management are essential for improving cancer survivor daily life.

The $Cu_2ZnSnS_4$ (CZTS) thin film solar cell is a candidate next generation thin film solar cell. For the application of an absorption layer in solar cells, CZTS thin films were deposited by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) at substrate temperature of $300^{\circ}C$ without post annealing process. Deposition time was carefully adjusted as the main experimental variable. Regardless of deposition time, single phase CZTS thin films are obtained with no existence of secondary phases. Irregularly-shaped grains are densely formed on the surface of CZTS thin films. With increasing deposition time, the grain size increases and the thickness of the CZTS thin films increases from 0.16 to $1{\mu}m$. The variation of the surface morphology and thickness of the CZTS thin films depends on the deposition time. The stoichiometry of all CZTS thin films shows a Cu-rich and S-poor state. Sn content gradually increases as deposition time increases. Secondary ion mass spectrometry was carried out to evaluate the elemental depth distribution in CZTS thin films. The optimal deposition time to grow CZTS thin films is 150 min. In this study, we show the effect of deposition time on the structural properties of CZTS thin film deposited on soda lime glass (SLG) substrate using PLD. We present a comprehensive evaluation of CZTS thin films.
