        All Sky Camera and Fabry-Perot Interferometer Observations in the Northern Polar Cap

        We report all sky camera and Fabry-Perot interferometer (FPI) observations of mesospheric gravity waves and a 12-hour wave at Resolute (75oN) and a joint observation of 10-hour wave with Eureka (80oN). All sky camera observations showed a low occurrence of mesosphere gravity waves during equinoxes, which is similar to the mid-latitude region. A slightly higher occurrence near solstice appears to indicate that gravity waves are not filtered out by the neutral wind in the winter. The FPI observation of a 12-hour wave showed amplitude variations from day to day. The phase of the wave is mostly stable and consistent with the GSWM prediction in the winter. The phase shifts with season as predicted by the GSWM. Four events of the 12-hour wave were found in spring with amplitudes larger than the GSWM predictions. The FPIs at Resolute and Eureka also observed a wave with period close to 10 hours. The 10-hour wave maybe the result of the non-linear interaction between the semi-diurnal tide and the quasi-two day wave. Further studies are under way. Overall, the combined Resolute and Eureka observation have revealed some new features about the mesospheric gravity wave, tidal wave, and other oscillations.

        A new phenanthrene derivative and two diarylheptanoids from the roots of Brassica rapa ssp. campestris inhibit the growth of cancer cell lines and LDL-oxidation

        Brassica rapa ssp. campestris (Brassicaceae) isa conical, deep purple, edible root vegetable commonlyknown as a turnip. We initiated phytochemical and pharmacologicalstudies to search for biological active compoundsfrom the roots of B. rapa ssp. campestris. Weisolated a novel phenanthrene derivative, 6-methoxy-1-[10-methoxy-7-(3-methylbut-2-enyl)phenanthren-3-yl]undecane-2,4-dione, named brassicaphenanthrene A (3) alongwith two known diarylheptanoid compounds, 6-paradol (1)and trans-6-shogaol (2), through the repeated silica gel(SiO2), octadecyl silica gel, and Sephadex LH-20 columnchromatography. The chemical structures of the compoundswere determined by spectroscopic data analyses includingnuclear magnetic resonance, mass spectrometry, ultravioletspectroscopy, and infra-red spectroscopy. All compoundsexhibited high inhibitory activity against the growth ofhuman cancer lines, HCT-116, MCF-7, and HeLa, with IC50values ranging from 15.0 to 35.0 lM and against LDL-oxidationwith IC50 values ranging from 2.9 to 7.1 lM.

      • 중국 가족기업의 지배구조가 경영성과에 미치는 영향: 상장된 제조업인 가족기업 대상으로

        본 연구는 가족의 지배구조, 기업의 지배구조와 경영성과 간의 관계를 살펴보는 게 본 논문의 목적이다. 가족기업은 가족과 기업의 근간이므로 일반기업과 다른 가족목표도 갖고 있으며, 가족 기업의 지배구조는 일반기업과의 차이가 될 수도 있다. 본 연구에서 가족기업의 지배구조는 기업의 지배구조와 가족의 지배구조를 나누어 경영성과에 대한 관계를 고찰하였다. 본 연구는 위의 연구목적을 달성하기 위해, 상해·심천증권거래소 사이트와 CSMAR(国泰安) 금융데이터베이스를 통해 중국에서 A주 상장된 가족기업에 관한 데이터를 수집하였다. 우리 잘 알다시피 중국은 제조업 강한 국가이며, 2016년도에 A주 상장된 가족기업 수가 1022개인데 제조업에 속한 가족기업이 700개 넘게 나왔다. 그러므로 본 연구는 A주 상장된 제조업에 속한 가족기업 대상으로 연구하였다. 그 중 ST 기업, PT기업, 자료를 수집하지 못 하는 기업을 제외해서 704개 기업을 최종적으로 정하였다. 그리고 가설을 검증하기 위한 실증분석은 SPSS18.0을 사용하여 실시하였다. 연구결과, 기업의 지배구조인 이사회 규모와 사외이사 수는 기업의 매출액과 당기순이익에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 끼쳤다. 또한 가족의 지배구조인 경영지배권은 기업의 매출액과 당기순이익에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 끼쳤지만, 가족의 지배구조인 소유권은 기업의 매출액과 당기순이익에 부 (-)의 영향을 끼쳤다는 것을 검증하였다. 결론적으로, 가족기업에서 이사회와 사외이사의 감시 기능을 잘 수행할 수 있도록 제도나 관리 이년 등 측면에서 많이 발전하게 된다고 보일 수 있다. 또한 가족은 기업에 대한 경영지배권이 높을수록 경영성과를 증가할 수 있었다. 그러나 가족의 소유권이 높아지면 경영성과가 상대적으로 하락한다는 것을 활인할 수 있다. 왜냐하면 오너가 기업의 발전뿐만 아니라 가족목표도 가지고 있다. 그러므로 가족의 발전을 위하여 기업의 단기적인 재무성과를 포기할 가능성도 있기 때문이다.

        Alkylation of phenol with tert-butyl alcohol over zirconium incorporated mesoporous molecular sieves with enhanced acidity

        Several SO42-/Zr-MCM-41 and SO42-/Zr-MCM-48 solid acid catalysts were prepared by wet impregnation method and were characterized by FT-IR, XRD, NH3-TPD and N2 physical adsorption,respectively. The catalytic activities of these catalysts were evaluated in alkylation reaction of phenol and tert-butyl alcohol. Experimental results reveal that the four solid acid catalysts still maintained a typical mesoporous framework. Under comparable condition, the SO42-/Zr-MCM-48-25 catalyst exhibits much high catalytic activity and gives the highest phenol conversion as compared with the other catalysts. A maximum phenol conversion of 91.6% with 81.8% selectivity to 4-tert-butylphenol (4-TBP) was achieved at the reaction temperature of 140 8C. 2012 The Korean Society of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry.         Soybean GmAOC3 promotes plant resistance to the common cutworm by increasing the expression of genes involved in resistance and volatile substance emission in transgenic tobaccos

        The evaluation and use of endogenous soybean genes is an effective strategy to minimize the yield losses caused by insects. Allene oxide cyclase (AOC) catalyzes the most important step in the biosynthesis of jasmonate (JA), which plays a crucial role in plant defense against insects. In this study, the role of GmAOC3 in plant insect resistance was evaluated. Real-time PCR results indicate that GmAOC3 was uniquely and rapidly activated and attained peak expression in leaves after attack by the common cutworm (CCW). In insect bioassays, transgenic lines overexpressing GmAOC3 were significantly less damaged than wild-type plants, and the relative growth rate of CCW fed with leaves from transgenic lines was significantly lower than that of CCW fed with leaves from wild-type plants. Electron microscopy revealed that the density of leaf trichomes in transgenic lines overexpressing GmAOC3 was greater than that in wild-type tobacco. Several physiological and morphological indicators, including JA, phenolic content and the relative expression levels of the putrescine N-methyltransferase (PMT) and proteinase inhibitor (PI) genes, phenylalanine ammonia lyase (PAL) activity and volatile substances, increased in the transgenic plants overexpressing GmAOC3. Our findings indicate that GmAOC3 plays an important role in soybean resistance to CCW and can be used as a resource for plant breeding.

        Thermospheric Wind Observation and Simulation during the Nov 4, 2021 Geomagnetic Storm Event

        Thermospheric wind observations from high to mid latitudes are compared with the newly developed Multiscale Atmosphere Geospace Environment (MAGE) model for the Nov 3–4 geomagnetic storm. The observation and simulation comparison shows a very good agreement and is better at high latitudes in general. We were able to identify a thermospheric poleward wind reduction possibly linked to a northward turning of the Interplanetary Magnetic Field (IMF) at ~22 UT on Nov 3 and an enhancement of the poleward wind to a southward turning near 10 UT on Nov 4 at high latitudes. An IMF southward turning may have led to an enhancement of equatorward winds at Boulder, Colorado near midnight. Simultaneous occurrence of aurora may be associated with an IMF By turning negative. The MAGE model wind simulations are consistent with observations in these cases. The results show the model can be a very useful tool to further study the magnetosphere and ionosphere coupling on short time scales.

        Stigma and Efficacy of Zhizhu Kuanzhong Capsules Versus Doxepin in the Treatment of Refractory Functional Dyspepsia: A Randomized Controlled Trial

        Background/AimsStigma related with antidepressants is prevalent in patients with functional dyspepsia. It affects medication compliance and efficacy. Herbal medicine acquired a deep-rooted cultural identity in relieving dyspeptic symptoms in Asians. The research was designed to compare the effectiveness of Zhizhu Kuanzhong capsules (ZZKZ) versus doxepin hydrochloride (doxepin) on alleviating stigma and medication nonadherence among patients with refractory FD (rFD). MethodsPatients with rFD from February 2021 to February 2022 were randomly allocated to receive either doxepin (n = 56) or ZZKZ (n = 57) combined with omeprazole for 4 weeks. Medication possession ratio (MPR), the disease- and medication-associated stigma were analyzed. The scales were utilized to assess dyspeptic symptoms (Leeds Dyspepsia Questionnaire) and psychological conditions (Generalized Anxiety Disorder Questionnaire and Patient Health Questionnaire). ResultsThe MPR values for ZZKZ were significantly higher than those for doxepin (P < 0.001). The stigma scores decreased in ZZKZ group while increased in doxepin group compared to baseline after treatment. The proportion of patients showing ZZKZ-associated stigma was significantly lower than doxepin-associated stigma (P < 0.001). The MPR values were negatively correlated with post-treatment stigma scores in both groups (P < 0.001). Dyspeptic symptoms and psychological condition were improved in both groups after treatment, with no significant difference on post-treatment Leeds Dyspepsia Questionnaire, Generalized Anxiety Disorder Questionnaire, or Patient Health Questionnaire scores between 2 groups. ConclusionZZKZ is superior to doxepin in alleviating stigma and medication non-adherence, with comparable efficacy in improving dyspeptic symptoms and psychological condition of patients with rFD.

        A study on the modified Hough algorithm for image processing in weld seam tracking

        Nowadays, automatic Gas metal arc (GMA) welding is receiving a growing attention for its fast production speed and wide-rangingversatility. Furthermore, automatic and robotic welding systems are urgently needed for general application, which depends on the realizationof auto-weld seam tracking. Seam tracking system allows for not only robot or machine trajectory shifts, but also adaptive controlto change weld bead formation, making further improvement on the weld quality. Based on the laser vision system, this study aims fordevelopment of an image processing by the modified Hough algorithm which applied for seam tracking system in GMA welding. Toachieve this objective, image features in the procedure of welding processing were discussed and specially treated. Algorithms in theimage processing were investigated to maximize the processing effect based on the modified Hough algorithm, which was quite costefficientin line detection. Quantitative evaluations of the used algorithm were set up to acquire optimal image processing algorithm. Finally, a common image processing method was employed to verify efficiency of proposed image processing and extract the weldinglocation in a shorten time for industrial application. It can be concluded the detected feature points and centerlines proved that this algorithmcan be used for automatic GMA welding process as well as industrial applications.

        Natural History of Untreated Coronary Total Occlusions Revealed with Follow-Up Semi-Automated Quantitative Coronary CT Angiography: The Morphological Characteristics of Initial CT Predict Occlusion Shortening

        Objective: To investigate the morphological changes of coronary chronic total occlusion (CTO) as determined by coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) follow-up using semi-automated quantitative analysis. Materials and Methods: Thirty patients with 31 CTO lesions confirmed by invasive coronary angiography and baseline/follow-up CCTA were retrospectively included. CTOs were quantitatively analyzed by a semi-automated coronary plaque analysis software (Coronary Plaque Analysis, version 2.0, Siemens) after manually determining the lesion border. Recanalized lumen was defined as the linear-like enhanced opacity traversing the non-opacified occluded segment. Other parameters, such as total occlusion length, total occlusion volume, volume with low attenuation component (< 30 Hounsfield unit [HU]), volume with middle to high attenuation component (30−190 HU) as well as the calcification volume, were also recorded. Results: Recanalized lumen was found within 48.4% (15/31) occlusions on the follow-up CCTA, compared to 45.2% (14/31) occlusions on the baseline CCTA. Eleven of 14 lesions (78.6%) with CT-visible recanalized lumen within CTOs had a shorter occlusion length on follow-up compared to only 3 of 17 lesions (17.6%) without CT-visible recanalized lumen (odds ratio, 17.1, p < 0.001). The percentage of low attenuation component of occlusions was smaller on follow-up CCTA compared to baseline value (18.1 ± 20.1% vs. 22.6 ± 19.6%, p = 0.033). Conclusion: Coronary computed tomography angiography enables non-invasive characterization of natural progression of untreated CTO lesions. Recanalized lumen within CTOs observed at baseline CCTA was associated with shortening of occlusion length on follow-up. Compared to their earlier stage, occlusions of later stage were presented with higher density of non-calcified components.

        중국 가족기업의 지배구조와 경영성과

        Due to the goal of family and corporate governance structure, family firms are different from the general enterprise. The aim of this article is to explore the relationship between the corporate governance and performance. In order to analyze this, the corporate governance of family firms is divided into two parts: corporate governance and family governance. Meanwhile, the size and year of the enterprises are considered as control variables which are used to inspect the influence to the performance of enterprise. The data of family in this article is obtained from the website of Shanghai/Shenzhen Stock Exchange and CSMAR financial database. After excluding the ST/PT enterprises and also the enterprises with incomplete data, the data of 708 listed family firms of A-share in China are used to proof the hypothesis of this thesis using the regression analysis of SPSS 18.0. The results show that both the corporate governance and family governance have a connection with the performance respectively. The board meetings which belong to the corporate governance structure, have a significant negative correlation with Tobin's Q. While the dominance of the family which belongs to the family governance has a significant positive correlation with Tobin's Q. Also the relationship between enterprise size and Tobin's Q is U-shaped while the impact of number of family members involved in the operation is ∩-shaped. Finally, for the listed family firms of China, the fewer meetings of the board, the more the family's control over the business, the better the business results. In order to achieve the family goal, the family may abandon the short-term financial performance to balance the long-term sustainable development between the family and enterprises. 가족기업은 가족과 기업을 근간으로 하는 기업이므로 일반기업과 다른 가족목표도 갖고 있으며, 가족기업의 지배구조 역시 일반기업과 다른 차이점을 갖고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 중국 가족기업의 지배구조와 경영성과 간의 관계를 살펴보는 것이다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 가족기업의 지배구조를 기업의 지배구조와 가족의 지배구조로 나누고, 기업 규모와 기업 업력을 통제변수로 추가하여 이들과 가족기업의 경영성과에 대한 관계도 고찰하였다. 위의 연구목적을 달성하기 위해 본 연구는, 상해·심천증권거래소 사이트와 CSMAR(国泰安) 금융데이터베이스를 통해 중국의 가족기업 데이터(A주)를 수집하였다. 2016년도 기준 A주 상장된 가족기업 수는 1,022개사이며, 그 중에서 ST 기업, PT기업, 그리고 자료가 불충분한 기업을 제외하고, 최종적으로 708개 기업을 연구에 활용하였다. 또한 가설을 검증하기 위한 실증분석은 SPSS 18.0을 사용하여 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과, 기업의 지배구조와 가족의 지배구조가 경영성과에 관계가 있다는 것을 발견하였다. 기업의 지배구조인 이사회 회의 수는 경영성과인 Tobin's Q에 유의한 부(-)의 영향을 끼쳤다. 또한 가족의 지배구조인 경영지배권은 Tobin's Q에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 끼쳤다. 기업 규모는 Tobin's Q와 ‘U’자형 관계가 있으며, 기업경영에 참여하는 가족구성원 수는 Tobin's Q와 ‘∩’자형 관계가 있음을 알아내었다. 결론적으로, 중국의 가족기업은 기업의 이사회 회의 수가 적을수록, 가족의 기업에 대한 경영지배권이 높을수록 경영성과를 증가할 수 있었다. 그러므로 중국의 가족기업은 선진국의 가족기업과 마찬가지로 가족과 기업 모두의 성장과 발전을 위하여 노력하여야 하며, 때에 따라서는 가족의 목표와 균형을 맞출 필요가 있을 경우, 기업의 단기적인 재무성과는 포기할 수도 있음을 알아야겠다.
