This study explores the use of the recently developed "strain-sensing smart skin" (S4) method for noncontact strain measurements on cement-based samples. S4 sensors are single-wall carbon nanotubes dilutely embedded in thin polymer films. Strains transmitted to the nanotubes cause systematic shifts in their near-infrared fluorescence spectra, which are analyzed to deduce local strain values. It is found that with cement-based materials, this method is hampered by spectral interference from structured near-infrared cement luminescence. However, application of an opaque blocking layer between the specimen surface and the nanotube sensing film enables interference-free strain measurements. Tests were performed on cement, mortar, and concrete specimens with such modified S4 coatings. When specimens were subjected to uniaxial compressive stress, the spectral peak separations varied linearly and predictably with induced strain. These results demonstrate that S4 is a promising emerging technology for measuring strains down to ca. 30 𝜇𝜀 in concrete structures.
In Vitro and In Vivo Evaluation of Ranitidine Hydrochloride Loaded Hollow Microspheres in Rabbits
Wei, Yu-Meng,Zhao, Ling 대한약학회 2008 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.31 No.10
The objective of this investigation was to develop the hollow micro spheres as a new dosage form of floating drug delivery systems with prolonged stomach retention time. Hollow microspheres containing ranitidine hydrochloride (RH) were prepared by a novel solvent diffusion-evaporation method using ethyl cellulose (EC) dissolved in a mixture of ethanol and ether (6: 1.0, v/v). The yield and drug loading amount of hollow micro spheres were $83.21{\pm}0.28%$ and $20.7{\pm}0.32%$, respectively. The in vitro release profiles showed that the drug release rate decreased with increasing viscosity of EC and the diameter of hollow microspheres, while increased with the increase of RH/EC weight ratio. Hollow microspheres could prolong drug release time (approximately 24 h) and float over the simulate gastric fluid for more than 24 h. Pharmacokinetic analysis showed that the bioavailability from RH-hollow micro spheres alone was about 3.0-times that of common RH gelatin capsules, and it was about 2.8-times that of the solid microspheres. These results demonstrated that RH hollow micro spheres were capable of sustained delivery of the drug for longer period with increased bioavailability.
The K+/H+ antiporter AhNHX1 improved tobacco tolerance to NaCl stress by enhancing K+ retention
Wei-Wei Zhang,Jing-Jing Meng,Jin-Yi Xing,Sha Yang,Feng Guo,Xin-Guo Li,Shu-Bo Wan 한국식물학회 2017 Journal of Plant Biology Vol.60 No.3
High salinity is the one of important factors limiting plant growth and crop production. Many NHX-type antiporters have been reported to catalyze K+/H+ exchange to mediate salt stress. This study shows that an NHX gene from Arachis hypogaea L. has an important role in K+ uptake and transport, which affects K+ accumulation and plant salt tolerance. When overexpressing AhNHX1, the growth of tobacco seedlings is improved with longer roots and a higher fresh weight than the wild type (WT) under NaCl treatment. Meanwhile, when exposed to NaCl stress, the transgenic seedlings had higher K+/H+ antiporter activity and their roots got more K+ uptake. NaCl stress could induce higher K+ accumulation in the roots, stems, and leaves of transgenic tobacco seedlings but not Na+ accumulation, thus, leading to a higher K+/Na+ ratio in the transgenic seedlings. Additionally, the AKT1, HAK1, SKOR, and KEA genes, which are involved in K+ uptake or transport, were induced by NaCl stress and kept higher expression levels in transgenic seedlings than in WT seedlings. The H+-ATPase and H+-PPase activities were also higher in transgenic seedlings than in the WT seedlings under NaCl stress. Simultaneously, overexpression of AhNHX1 increased the relative distribution of K+ in the aerial parts of the seedlings under NaCl stress. These results showed that AhNHX1 catalyzed the K+/H+ antiporter and enhanced tobacco tolerance to salt stress by increasing K+ uptake and transport.
Model-free Adaptive Tracking Control for Networked Control Systems Under DoS Attacks and RTT Delays
Meng-Ying Su,Wei-Wei Che 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2022 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.20 No.7
The model-free adaptive secure tracking control (MFASTC) problem of nonlinear networked control systems is explored in this paper with the consideration of DoS attacks and RTT delays. In order to compensate for DoS attacks and RTT delays, a new estimate value dependent attack compensation mechanism is proposed and a network-based predictive delay compensation mechanism is employed. The data-based design method need not any model or structure information of the system, and only depends on input/output data. In addition, the MFASTC algorithm is proposed to guarantee the output tracking error being bounded in the sense of mean square. Finally, an example with comparisons is used to show the effectiveness of the new algorithm.
