        소의 대동맥 내피세포에서 산화저밀도 지단백에 의한 아포프토시스에 백일해 독소 및 콜레라 독소가 미치는 영향

        N/A Objectives : Oxidized LDL is thought to play a key role in atherogenesis. Among their wide variety of biological properties, oxidized LDL injures the endothelium as an early event of atherogenesis. However, the mechanisms by which oxidized LDL injures endothelial cells are not definitely known. In order to evaluate the involvement of GTP-binding protein on the mechanism of apoptosis, we studied the effects of pertussis and cholera toxin on oxidized LDL-induced apoptosis in bovine aortic endothelial cells(BAECs). Methods : Oxidized LDL elicited apoptosis in cultured BAECs as shown by characteristic morphological and biochemical changes. Chromatin condensation and nucleus fragmentation were visualized by using fluorescence microscopy of intact cells staining by acridine orange/ ethidium bromide. DNA fragmentation was quantified by an ELISA with specific antibody for bromodeoxyuridine- labelled DNA fragments and confirmed with DNA ladder formation. Results : Studies using a combination of bacterial toxins which change the function of GTP-binding protein suggest that oxidized LDL-induced apoptosis was regulated by GTP-binding protein. Oxidized LDL-induced apoptosis was not changed by pretreatment of BAECs with pertussis toxin. In contrast, pretreatment with cholera toxin completely prevented the oxidized LDL- induced apoptosis. Conclusion : These results show that oxidized LDL induces apoptosis of BAECs and suggest that cholera toxin-sensitive G-proteins are involved in signal transduction of oxidized LDL-induced apoptosis of BAEC.

        지중해의 해양생태학적 고찰 : A Review

        The Mediterranean Sea covers an area of approximately 2.5 Million square kilometers and a volume of 3.7 million cubic kilometers, excluding the Black Sea, and has an average depth of about 1500m. As a sea it is rather unique in that it is almost completely surrounded by land: Europe to the north, Africa to the south, and Asia Minor to the east. The Mediterranean is a silled basin, separated from the Atlantic Ocean by a shallow sill of 320m depth at the Straits of Gibraltar. The Siculo-Tunisian sill close to which lie the Maltese Islands divides the Mediterranean into an East and a West Basin. The Mediterranean Sea has three principal kinds of water: the Mediterranean Surface Water (0-200m deep), the Mediterranean Inetrmediate Water (200-600m deep) and the Mediterranean Deep Water(deeper than 600m). the mediterranean generally has tides of very low amplitude(0.06m in the Maltses Islands). General water mass properties, ecosystem diversity, species diversity, origins and affinities of marine flora and fauna, and species distribution patterns, biogeographic classification in the Mediterranean Sea are reviewed in this text.

      • 골수강내 금속정 및 나사못 맞물림을 이용한 경골의 치료

        Fracture of the tibial shaft is the most common among the long bone fractures, and it is difficult to treat because of a high incidence of delayed union, nonunion and malunion. Interlocking Intramedullary mailing is considered to be valuable method in treating long bone fracture such as tibial fracture these days because it enables rigid fixation, early joint motion exercise and weight bearing. Between April 1993 and March 1997, we treated 63 cases of tibia fractures with interlocking intramedullary nailing. The results were as follows: 1. Among the 63 cases, 51 cases were closed fractures and 12 cases were open fractures. 2. Static interlocking nailing was done in all cases and dynamization was done in 7 cases in postoperative 13 weeks. 3. Average union time was 19.9 weeks, 19 weeks with closed tibia fracture and 2.4 weeks with open tibia fracture. According to fracture site, 22 weeks with proximal tibia fracture, 19.2 weeks with mid-tibia fracture and 21.4 weeks with distal tibia fracture. According to the Winquist-Hansen classification, Type I was 19.8 weeks, Type Ⅱ was 20.4 weeks, Type Ⅲ was 22 weeks and Type Ⅳ was 26 weeks. 4. Weight bearing was started at the time of subsidence of pain and tenderness of the fracture site, 11.5 weeks with closed fracture and 12.3 weeks with open fracture. 5. According to the functional result of Klemm and Borner, 44 cases were excellent, 9 cases were good, 7 cases were fair and 3 cases were poor.

      • 일본 호텔건축에 나타난 공용부문의 공간 구성적 특성에 관한 연구 - 東京都內 특급도시호텔을 중심으로 -

        On the purpose of this study is mentioning about basic information and guide related to design a city hotel, through an analysis on specialty of public space, which were built in the beginning of 1970 to the end of 1990 in Tokyo. The following is conclusion by based on pre-survey of the analysis of a plan and a site in these hotels. First, as a result of analysis in block type, there are equally centered two types in 10PL. hotels. (interlocking form is 4PL. and form within Form is 6PL.) Second, as a result of analysis of function type in public interior space, Con-course type is strongly located in 5PL.(3PL. in Center type and 2PL. in Compromising type), but Line type is in 8PL. in 10 hotels. Third, the composed rate of square measure in public space are investigated as 34.11% in public, 28.00% in sales and 33.07% in service part.

        한국 도시호텔의 형태구성유형에 관한 연구 : 서울시 특급호텔을 중심으로 Focused on first class hotels in Seoul City

        The study of this thesis is analyzed in general block type to be applicated through the record of pre-docu., the analysis of drawing and the survey of field. This object is based on approximately 20 hotels in main city which were built in the beginning of 1960' through the end of 1990'. On the purpose of this study is mentioning about basic information and guide related block types, through a comparison and an analysis of floor types, which is shown as function in block types and interior spaces. The following is conclusion of analysis. 1. There are four types of functional component method and three types, which are consist of Room and board, Public area and Admin., of space component in the architecture of city hotel. 2. According to the analysis of period, the in-type were used in large scale hotel in 1970' and the close-type were used in the middle and small scale hotel after 1980', because of the problem of combination type in structure.

        유기성 폐기물과 알칼리 안정화제가 첨가된 연안 양식장 퇴적물 조비료의 영양성분 조성

        To utilize coastal aquaculture ground bottom sediment in which concentrations of harmful pollutants are low and organic content is high as an organic fertilizer alkaline stabilizers such as CaO, Oyster shell, Mg(OH)_2 were added to the bottom sediment organic additives of livestock or food wastes. Nutritive qualities of crude fertilizers were measured to examine effects of alkaline stabilizers and organic waste additions. The Mg(OH)_2-added crude fertilizer had significantly lower total carbon(T-C) and nitrogen(T-N) content, reflecting the dilution effect due to great amount of Mg(OH)_2 addition. However, the addition of oyster shell had no significant effect on the T-C and T-N content of the fertilizer. P_2O_5 and K_2O content was considerably higher in the mixed of aquaculture ground bottom sediment and livestock wastes than in the mixture of the sediments and food wastes, resulting from higher P_2O_5 and K_2O content in livestock wastes. Addition of Mg(OH)_2 increased the content of MgO in the crude fertilizer but significantly reduced the content of other nutritive elements such as P_2O_5, K_2O and CaO. Addition of oyster shell as an alkaline stabilizer seemed to have the advantage of saving time and expenses for dryness due to role as a modulator of water content. Moreover, additions of effect Mg(OH)_2 decreased the concentrations of heavy metals in the fertilizer by the dilution while additions of oryster shell had no influence on heavy metal concentrations in the fertilizer.

      • 한글ㆍ영문 겸용 Word Processor System 개발에 관한 연구

        The design theory and implementation of a word processor system with more efficient processing of Korean and English text are studied. A screen editing method is implemented which is more flexible to handle the texts. Convinient control of the keyboards, cursors moving, texts editing, line marking and block operations are considered. The codes to avoid the complexity and inefficiency which are caused by difference of the code length between the Korean and English characters are reconstructed. File management systems and algorithms for executing the control commands are also studied. As a result, a successful word processor system is designed and implemental which performs a complete screen editing system. The performance of the system includes flexible cursor movement, margin setting, block operations of insertion, deletion and copying any sizes of the line and blocks; and also, the printout routines for size variation of the characters are worked out.

        Dietary Exposure to Transgenic Rice Expressing the Spider Silk Protein Fibroin Reduces Blood Glucose Levels in Diabetic Mice: The Potential Role of Insulin Receptor Substrate-1 Phosphorylation in Adipocytes

        Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is characterized by insulin resistance (IR). T2DM is correlated with obesity and most T2DM medications have been developed for enhancing insulin sensitivity. Silk protein fibroin (SPF) from spiders has been suggested as an attractive biomaterial for medical purposes. We generated transgenic rice (TR) expressing SPF and fed it to diabetic BKS.Cg-m+/+Leprdb mice to monitor the changes in blood glucose levels and adipose tissue proteins associated with energy metabolism and insulin signaling. In the present study, the adipocyte size in abdominal fat in TR-SPF-fed mice was remarkably smaller than that of the control. Whereas the adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK)-activated protein kinase and insulin receptor substrate 1 (IRS1) protein levels were increased in abdominal adipose tissues after TR-SPF feeding, levels of six-transmembrane protein of prostate 2 (STAMP2) proteins decreased. Phosphorylation of AMPK at threonine 172 and IRS1 at serine 307 and tyrosine 632 were both increased in adipose tissues from TR-SPFfed mice. Increased expression and phosphorylation of IRS1 at both serine 307 and tyrosine 632 in adipose tissues indicated that adipocytes obtained from abdominal fat in TR-SPF-fed mice were more susceptible to insulin signaling than that of the control. STAMP2 protein levels decreased in adipose tissues from TR-SPF-fed mice, indicating that STAMP2 proteins were reducing adipocytes that were undergoing lipolysis. Taken together, this study showed that TR-SPF was effective in reducing blood glucose levels in diabetic mice and that concurrent lipolysis in abdominal adipocytes was associated with alterations of AMPK, IRS1, and STAMP2. Increased IRS1 expression and its phosphorylation by TR-SFP were considered to be particularly important in the induction of lipolysis in adipocytes, as well as in reducing blood glucose levels in this animal model.

        한국의 한 농촌 지역에 거주하는 노인에서의 치매의 유병률

        본 연구는 한국의 농촌지역인 경기도 연천군에 거주하는 65세 이상 노인인구를 대상으로 치매의 유병률을 산정하였다. 선별검사로서 MMSE-K를 실시한 후 NINCDS-ADRDA 기준에 따라 치매의 임상 진단을 확정하였고, 치매의 정도는 DSM-Ⅲ-R 기준에 의하여 평가하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1) 치매의 유병률은 9.5%로 추산되었으며, 알쯔하이머병과 혈관성 치매의 유병률은 각각 4.5%와 2.5%이었다. 2) 치매의 유병률은 연령증가에 따라 증가하는 소견을 보였으며, 성별차이는 알쯔하이머병의 경우 여자에서 유병률이 더 높았으나 혈관성 치매는 남자에서 더 높았다. 3) 치매의 정도에 따른 유병률은 경도의 치매는 6.2%, 중등도 및 중증 치매가 3.3%이었다. 이상의 결과에서 본 연구는 한국에서의 치매의 유병률 양상이 종래의 북미나 유럽에서와 유사하고, 중국이나 일본 등 다른 아시아권의 국가에서와는 차이를 보이는 소견을 나타냈다. The authors investigated the prevalence and risk factors of dementia among 1,674 elderly residents in Yonchon county of Kyonggi-do, a rural area of Korea who were above 65 years of age, in 1993. The primary screening was done with MMSE-K(Korean version of Mini-mental State Examination), and the final diagnoses of dementia for 436 subjects were made by NINCDS-ADRDA criteria. The prevalence of total dementia was 9.5%, and it increased with advancing age. Particularly, it rapidly increased in the elderly above 75 years of age. The prevalence of dementia in female as a whole was higher than in male, but this was not shown in each age group. The prevalences of Alzheimer's disease and vascular dementia were 4.5% and 2.5%, respectively. Assessing the degree of dementia with DSM-Ⅲ-R criteria, the prevalence of moderate and severe dementia was 3.3%. Our result showed the similar finding to the prevalence of dementia in western countries, but was different from those of the previous studies in other Asian countries, China and Japan.
