        Measurement-based Treatment of Residual Symptoms Using Clinically Useful Depression Outcome Scale: Korean Validation Study

        Objective: This study was aimed at evaluating the diagnostic validity of the Korean version of the Clinically Useful Depression Outcome Scale (CUDOS) with varying follow-up in a typical clinical setting in multiple centers. Methods: In total, 891 psychiatric outpatients were enrolled at the time of their intake appointment. Current diagnostic character-istics were examined using the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV (41% major depressive disorder). The CUDOS was meas-ured and compared with three clinician rating scales and four self-report scales. Results: The CUDOS showed excellent results for internal consistency (Cronbach’s α ,0.91), test-retest reliability (patients at intake, r =0.81; depressed patients in ongoing treatment, r =0.89), and convergent and discriminant validity (measures of depres-sion, r =0.80; measures of anxiety and somatization, r =0.42). The CUDOS had a high ability to discriminate between different levels of depression severity based on the rating of Clinical Global Impression for depression severity and the diagnostic classi-fication of major depression, minor depression, and non-depression. The ability of the CUDOS to identify patients with major depression was high (area under the receiver operating characteristic curve=0.867). A score of 20 as the optimal cutoff point was suggested when screening for major depression using the CUDOS (sensitivity=89.9%, specificity=69.5%). The CUDOS was sensitive to change after antidepressant treatment: patients with greater improvement showed a greater decrease in CUDOS scores ( p <0.001). Conclusion: The results of this multi-site outpatient study found that the Korean version of the CUDOS is a very useful measure-ment for research and for clinical practice.

        Improving Diagnostic Performance of MRI for Temporal Lobe Epilepsy With Deep Learning-Based Image Reconstruction in Patients With Suspected Focal Epilepsy

        Objective: To evaluate the diagnostic performance and image quality of 1.5-mm slice thickness MRI with deep learningbased image reconstruction (1.5-mm MRI + DLR) compared to routine 3-mm slice thickness MRI (routine MRI) and 1.5-mm slice thickness MRI without DLR (1.5-mm MRI without DLR) for evaluating temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE). Materials and Methods: This retrospective study included 117 MR image sets comprising 1.5-mm MRI + DLR, 1.5-mm MRI without DLR, and routine MRI from 117 consecutive patients (mean age, 41 years; 61 female; 34 patients with TLE and 83 without TLE). Two neuroradiologists evaluated the presence of hippocampal or temporal lobe lesions, volume loss, signal abnormalities, loss of internal structure of the hippocampus, and lesion conspicuity in the temporal lobe. Reference standards for TLE were independently constructed by neurologists using clinical and radiological findings. Subjective image quality, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) were analyzed. Performance in diagnosing TLE, lesion findings, and image quality were compared among the three protocols. Results: The pooled sensitivity of 1.5-mm MRI + DLR (91.2%) for diagnosing TLE was higher than that of routine MRI (72.1%, P < 0.001). In the subgroup analysis, 1.5-mm MRI + DLR showed higher sensitivity for hippocampal lesions than routine MRI (92.7% vs. 75.0%, P = 0.001), with improved depiction of hippocampal T2 high signal intensity change (P = 0.016) and loss of internal structure (P < 0.001). However, the pooled specificity of 1.5-mm MRI + DLR (76.5%) was lower than that of routine MRI (89.2%, P = 0.004). Compared with 1.5-mm MRI without DLR, 1.5-mm MRI + DLR resulted in significantly improved pooled accuracy (91.2% vs. 73.1%, P = 0.010), image quality, SNR, and CNR (all, P < 0.001). Conclusion: The use of 1.5-mm MRI + DLR enhanced the performance of MRI in diagnosing TLE, particularly in hippocampal evaluation, because of improved depiction of hippocampal abnormalities and enhanced image quality.

        소셜네트워크 분석을 통한 온라인게임 이용자커뮤니티 간 비교

        게임 산업은 멀티미디어 콘텐츠형 지식산업으로 세계적으로 지속적인 성장을 보이고 있다. 전체 게임산업 중에서 큰 비중을 차지하고 있는 분야가 온라인 게임 분야이며, 전체 게임 산업의 약 43%를 차지하고 있다. 온라인 게임은 대부분 월별 정액 요금제를 적용하는 만큼 제품이라기보다 서비스에 가까우므로 고객의 유지가 바로 기업의 현금흐름에 크게 기여하기 때문에 사용자의 만족도와 충성도가 매우 중요하다. 이렇듯 온라인 게임에서 사용자가 중요함에도 불구하고, 온라인 게임 자체에 대해서는 기존에 많은 연구가 이루어진 반면, 사용자 중심의 연구, 그 중에서도 사용자의 커뮤니티에 대한 연구는 부족한 실정이다. 본 논문은 온라인 게임의 특징과 그 속성을 선행연구를 통하여 조사하고 온라인 게이머의 커뮤니티의식과 소셜네트워크 형성에 영향을 미치는 요인을 파악하고자 한다. 또한, 온라인 게이머의 만족과 고객충성도에 커뮤니티 의식과 소셜네트워크가 영향을 미치는 지를 검증하여 온라인 게임을 개발하고 서비스 하는 기업에게 영업 전략을 제시하고자 한다. This paper investigates the influence of social networks on the satisfaction and loyalty of online game users. We gather the resulting questionnaires written by all respondents and compare social networks of users in the online game world. Social networks of online game users influence a sense of community. In consequence, the community sense influences the satisfaction and loyalty of online game users, respectively. Therefore, the companies which produce an online game and provide various services to users should consider the social networks and communities of their game users. Especially they have to try to manage the users who are the opinion leaders of the online game. If the companies make good relationships with users who are the opinion leaders of the online game, they would easily improve the loyalty of ordinary users by performing word-of-moth marketing of the users' opinions concerning about the online game.

        Defense-Related Responses in Fruit of the Nonhost Chili Pepper against Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. glycines Infection

        Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. glycines (Xag) is a necrotrophic bacterial pathogen of the soybean that causes bacterial pustules and is a nonhost pathogen of the chili pepper. In the current study, chili pepper fruit wound inoculated in planta with Xag 8ra formed necrotic lesions on the fruit surface and induced several structural and chemical barriers systemically in the fruit tissue. The initial defense response included programmed cell death of necrotizing and necrotized cells, which was characterized by nuclear DNA cleavage, as detected by TUNEL-confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM), and phosphatidylserine exposure on cell walls distal to the infection site, as detected by Annexin V FLUOS-CLSM. These two responses may facilitate cell killing and enhance transportation of cell wall materials used for cell wall thickening, respectively. The cells beneath the necrotic tissue were enlarged and divided to form periclinal cell walls, resulting in extensive formation of several parallel boundary layers at the later stages of infection, accompanying the deposition of wall fortification materials for strengthening structural defenses. These results suggest that nonhost resistance of chili pepper fruit against the nonhost necrotrophic pathogen Xag 8ra is activated systematically from the initial infection until termination of the infection cycle, resulting in complete inhibition of bacterial pathogenesis by utilizing organspecific in situ physiological events governed by the expression of genes in the plant fruit organ.

        First Description of Crown Gall Disease on Ginseng

        In March of 2003, tumors (galls) were observed on ginseng seedling roots in ginseng seedbeds at Yeoju, Gyeonggi province, Korea. Symptoms were spherical or galls with about 0.5-1.0 cm in diameter formed on the upper through middle parts of the primary roots. Bacterial isolates obtained from the root galls were Gram-negative, rod-shaped with peritrichous flagella, aerobic, not forming yellow or orange colonies on nutrient glucose agar, yeast extract-dextrose CaCO3 agar and nutrient-broth yeast extract agar, nonfluorescent on King’s B agar, and non-spore forming, which were identical to characteristics of the genus Agrobacterium. They were identified as Agrobacterium tumefaciens with 0.732-0.993 similarities in 100% probability by the Biolog analyses. The 16S rRNA gene partial sequences of the six isolates tested (Genbank Accession EF486308~EF486313) were 100% homologous to those of other A. tumefaciens strains (GenBank accession AF501343, AY701900, AY701898, AY701899). The above results confirmed that this bacterium is A. tumefaciens. Pathogenicity of the bacteria was proved by the inoculation test on carrot root discs and tomato seedlings. This is the first description of A. tumefaciens causing root gall in ginseng seedling. The disease occurred locally and sparsely, but considering its appearances in seedbeds suggests that the ginseng root gall may become a threat to ginseng in Korea.

        국내산 땅콩의 일반 품종과 고올레산 품종에 대한 지용성 영양성분과 산화안정성 비교

        본 연구는 가열 산화에 따른 일반 및 고올레산 땅콩 유지의 화학적인 특성 변화를 측정하였다. 땅콩 유지는 용매추출법을 이용하여 추출하였으며 80oC에서 25일간 가열 산화시켜 지방산 조성, 토코페롤, 식물스테롤 및 산화안정성 변화를 측정하였다. 일반 및 고올레산 유지의 주요 지방산은 올레인산과 리놀레산으로 이들의 비율(O/L)은 일반 품종 2.75, 고올레인산 품종 5.23으로 나타났다. 저장기간동안 가열산화에 의해 리놀레산이 파괴되어 단일불포화지방산 및 포화지방산의 비율이 상대적으로 증가하였으며 일반 품종이 고올레산에 비해 리놀레산의 감소량이 유의적(p<0.05)으로 높은 것으로 나타났다. 산화안정성을 나타내는 과산화물가와 산가를 측정한 결과 두 가지 유지 모두 증가하는 것으로 일반 품종은 과산화물가와 산가가 급격히 증가하는 경향을 보였고, 고올레산 품종은 상대적으로 다소 완만하게 증가하였다. 가열산화가 진행됨에 따라 토코페롤과 식물스테롤은 모두 감소하는 경향을 보였지만, 일반품종에서 감소되는 속도가 더 빠르게 나타났다. 고올레산 품종의 경우 높은 올레인산 비율과 낮은 리놀레산의 비율로 인해 일반 품종보다 우수한 산화안정성을 보였으며, 지방산 조성뿐 만 아니라 토코페롤과 식물스테롤의 함량변화 역시 고올레산 품종에서 더 높은 잔존율을 확인할 수 있었다. Generally, peanuts are classified as high-fat foods as they possess high proportions of fatty acids. This study compared lipid constituents and properties between normal and high-oleic peanuts. Gas Chromatography-Flame Ionization Detector (GC-FID) analyses revealed that the fatty acid levels were significantly different between the normal and higholeic peanuts (p<0.05). Eight fatty acids were identified in the samples, including palmitic (C16:0), stearic (C18:0), oleic (C18:1, n9), linoleic (C18:2, n6), arachidic (C20:0), gondoic (C20:1, n9), behenic (C22:0), and lignoceric (C24:0) acids. Four tocopherol homologs were detected, and α- and γ-tocopherols were the predominant ones. Tocopherols were rapidly decomposed during 25 day storage at 80℃. The main identified phytosterols were beta-sitosterol, Δ<SUP>5</SUP>-avenasterol, campesterol, and stigmasterol. Acid and peroxide values indicated that high-oleic peanuts have better oxidative stability than normal peanuts. These results can serve as the basis for the use of peanuts in the food industry.
