급성기 족관절 염좌의 근위취혈(近位取穴)과 원위취혈(遠位取穴)의 치료 효과 비교 연구

Objective : The purpose of this study is to compare the effects of near acupuncture point needling and remote acupuncture point needling on treating ankle sprain of acute stage. Methods : From March 1st, 2007 to May 30th, 2007, the 50 patients who had visited Iksan oriental medical hospital, Wonkwang university with acute ankle sprain were divided into 2 groups ; one group took near acupunture point needling, and the other group took remote acupunture point needling. Both group had been treated with the same additional rest, ice, compression and elevation(RICE) therapy. To evaluating the efficiency of each treatment, Visual Analog Scale(VAS) and Ankle-Hindfoot Scale(AHS) were applied before 1st treatment and after 3rd treatment. Results : As a result of evaluation by using AHS, the score change comparison between the two groups had no significance after the treatment. As a result of evaluation by using VAS, treatment score of remote acupucture point needling was marked lower than score of near acupucture point needling. Conclusion : Remote acupucture point needling is more effective than near acupucture point needling in controlling the pain of acute ankle sprain.

Congenital intestinal obstruction is a relatively rare lesion, occuring in one of 1500 births and can be fatal unless promptly diagnosed and treated surgically.The diagnosis of possible intestinal obstruction was made in a near term fetus. The mother had developed polyhydramnios. We experienced a case of ileal atresia diagnosed by ultrasonography at 25 weeks' gestation and report the case with brief review of literature.
항산화제가 bleomycin에 의해서 유발되는 랫트 폐장병변에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of antioxidants (vitamin E, selenium, and coenzyme $Q_{10}$) on the bleomycin-induced pulmonary lesions in male rats. Sprague-Dawley male rats were divided into 4 treatment groups ($T_1$, $T_2$, $T_3$, $T_4$) and 4 control groups ($C_1$, $C_1$, $C_3$, $C_4$). The treatment groups of rats weie given a single intratracheal dose of bleomycin (1.5 units/rat) and control groups of rats were given a single intratracheal dose of normal saline (0.15ml/rat). The rats in the $T_1$ group and $C_1$, group were dosed with normal saline (0.5ml/kg/day), the rats in the $T_2$ group and $C_2$ group were dosed with vitamin E (50mg/kg/day), the rats in the $T_3$ group and $C_3$ group were dosed with sodium selenite (3mg/kg/day) and the rats in the $T_4$ gronp and $C_4$ group were dosed with coenzyme $Q_{10}$ (2.5mg/kg/day) intraperitoneally for 7 days or 14 days, respectively. Animals were killed at 7th and 14th day after dosing with bleomycin or saline. The results obtained were as follows: 1. Lung wet weight of treatment groups of rats was increased significantly while body weight gain of them was decreased significantly in comparison with that of control groups of rats (p<0.01). 2. The ratio(%) of lung wet weight to final body weight of treatment groups of rats was increased significantly in comparison with that of control groups of rats (p<0.01). 3. The main histopathological findings of lungs observed in rats at 7th day after dosing with bleomycin were proliferation of the type II alveolar epithelial cells and fibroblasts, increased invading of macrophages into lesions, round cell infiltration and perivascular edema. 4. Lung fibrous tissues were markedly increased in rats observed at 14th day after dosing with bleomycin. 5. Pumonary lesions observed in rats dosed with bleomycin and antioxidants(vitamin E, selenium, coenzyme $Q_{10}$) were not significantly different from those of rats given bleomycin alone.
한약재의 물 추출물이 당대사 관련 효소와 항산화 활성에 관한 연구

본 연구에서는 제2형 당뇨병를 가진 GK 흰쥐(Goto-Kakizaki) 간에서 추출한 cytosol과 심장에서 추출한 mitochondria를 이용한 모델계에서 당대사 관련 효소인 glucokinase glucokinase(GCK), pyruvate dehydrogenase(PDH), acetyl-CoA carboxylase(ACC) 및 glucosidase 활성에 대한 한약재의 물 추출물의 항당뇨 효과를 연구하였다. 그리고 역시 그들의 물 추출물의 free radical 소거활성을 DPPH 방법으로 알아보았다. Free radical 소거활성은 산수유(CF), 목단피(MDB), 천화분(CHB) 그리고 산약(SY)의 물 추출물이 강했고 반면에 백목령(BBR), 숙지황(SGH)과 택사(TS)는 낮은 소거작용을 나타내었다. 간 cytosol의 GCK 활성은 산수유(CF)와 천화분(CHB)에서 다른 추출물보다 더 강했다. 심장 미토콘드리아의 PDH 활성은 택사(TS)를 제외하고 모든 추출물에서 대조군과 비교하여 높았다. 간 cytosol의 ACC 활성은 대조군보다 산수유(CF), 천화분(CHB), 숙지황(SGH), 택사(TS) 그리고 산약(SY) 추출물에서 높았다. 산수유(CF), 백복령(BBR) 및 목단피(MDB) 추출물은 α-glucosidase 활성 감소를 유도했다. 따라서 모든 추출물은 혈당 상승을 억제할 수 있는 항당뇨 기능성식품이나 약품 개발을 위한 기능성 천연 소재로 이용될 수 있을 가능성을 제시하였다. The anti-diabetic effects of water extracts (WE) from medicinal herbs on hepatic glucose-regulating enzymes, such as glucokinase (GCK), pyruvate dehydrogenase (PDH), acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) and α-glucosidase, were studied using the cytosol fraction in liver and mitochondia fraction in heart of a type Ⅱ diabetic animal (GK rat, Goto-Kakizaki). The free radical scavenging activity of water extracts by DPPH method was also tested. We found that free radical scavenging activity was strong in Corni fructu (CF), Mokdan Bark (MDB), Chenhwabon (CHB) and Sanyack (SY), while that of Backbocreng (BBR), Shuckgihwang (SGH) and Taecsa (TS) was lower. For GCK activity in cytosol of liver, CF and CHB had a more effective activity than other extracts. PDH activity in mitochondria fraction of heart was higher in all of the extracts, expect for the TS extract, than in the control. ACC activity in cytosol fraction of liver was significantly higher in the CF, CHB, SGH, TS and SY extracts than in the control. CF, BBR and MDB led to a decrease in the α-glucosidase activity. Therefore, these results suggest that all of the extracts may be used as functional material in the development as anti-diabetic functional food and medicine.
몽고리안 저빌의 Harderian gland의 출생후 형태학적 변화

This investigation was carried out to study morphological and chronological aspects of the development of the Harderian gland in the Mongolian gerbil(Meriones unguiculatus). Male and female Mongolian gerbils were sacrificed on days 1, 3, 5, 10, 30 and 60 after birth and their Harderian glands were processed for light microscopic observation. The results obtained were summarized as follows; 1. In 1-day-old Mongolian gerbil, Harderian gland was well distinguished from other tissue structures. It was composed of several immature tubules, and these tubules were separated each other by undifferentiated mesenchymal connective tissues. 2. In 3-day and 5-day-old Mongolian gerbils, the arrangement of tubules in the gland was more condensed than that of 1-day-old Mongolian gerbil. The excretory ducts started to appear in the connective tissues located between lobes. 3. In 10-day-old Mongolian gerbil, small lipid vacuoles began to be found in the cytoplasm of the secretory cells of the Harderian gland. There were some mucus-secreting cells within the epithelium of the excretory duct found in the interlobar connective tissues. 4. In 30-day-old Mongolian gerbil, there was markedly increased number of the tubules in the glands. The epithelial cells of the tubules were typically columnar in shape. Most of the columnar epithelial cells contained many small lipid vacuoles, although a few cells contained large lipid vacuoles. 5. In 60-day-old Mongolian gerbil, the Harderian gland exhibited the typical structural characteristics of the adult gland. The mature glandular structures were more distinct than those of 30-day-old animals.
