        Objectives: Although there have been several reports that described characteristics for young age stroke, information regarding very young age (18–30 years old) has been limited. We aimed to analyze demographic factors, stroke subtype, and 3-month outcome in acute ischemic stroke patient who have relatively very young age in multicenter stroke registry. Methods: We evaluated all 122 (7.1%) consecutive acute ischemic stroke (within 7 days after symptom onset) patients aged 18 to 30 from 17,144 patients who registered in multicenter prospective stroke registry, 1997 to 2012. Etiology was classified by Trial of Org 10172 in Acute Stroke Treatment criteria. Stroke severity was defined as National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and stroke outcome was defined by modified Rankin scale (mRS) at 3 months after index stroke. Results: The mean age of all included patients was 25.1±3.7 years and 76 patients (62.2%) were male. The median NIHSS at admission was 4. Considering stroke subtype, 37 patients (30.3%) had stroke of other determined etiology (SOD), 37 (30.3%) had undetermined negative evaluation (UN) and 31 (25.4%) had cardioembolism (CE) were frequently noted. After adjusting age, sex and variables which had P<0.1 in univariable analysis (NIHSS and stroke subtype), CE stroke subtype (odds ratio, 4.68; 95% confidence interval, 1.42–15.48; P=0.011) were significantly associated with poor functional outcome (mRS≥3). Conclusion: In very young age ischemic stroke patients, SOD and UN stroke subtype were most common and CE stroke subtype was independently associated with poor discharge outcome.

        일 대학병원에 입원한 노년기 양극성 장애 환자의 인구학적 및 임상적 특징

        Objectives : As the elderly population is continuing to increase, psychiatric diseases of the elderly are becoming an important social issue. This study looks into the demographical and clinical features of the elderly patients diagnosed with bipolar disorder in a University hospital. Methods : The study subjects include patients admissioned in the closed wards of Soonchunhyang Seoul hospital and Cheonan hospital from March, 2000 to February, 2005 who met the DSM-IV-TR criteria for bipolar disorder at the time of discharge. A total of 146 patients (76 men, 70 women) medical records were studied retrospectively. Subjects older than the age of 50 at time of admission were grouped as the old age group, whereas those who were younger than 50 as the young age group. Also among the old age group, those who had the first onset of episode under the age of 50 were grouped as the early onset group, whereas those who had the first onset after the age 50 were grouped as the late onset group. Results : The number of bipolar disorder patients in the young age group and old age group were 73 and 73 respectively. The number of early onset group and late onset group were 46 and 23 respectively. The old age group had a relatively higher incidence of bipolar II disorder than the young age group. Also in the old age group there was a higher incidence of hypomanic or depressive episode rather than manic episode compared to the young age group. And in the old age group psychotic symptoms were less common and the mean admission length shorter than the young age group. Additionally in the old age group treatment with Lithium monotherapy or with no mood stabilizers at all were relatively common. Among the old age group, late onset group had a higher rate of bipolar II disorder than the early onset group. Conclusion : This study shows differences in the demographical and clinical features among different age groups. But additional research would be required to determine whether the bipolar disorders in the elderly or late onset group are actually a different type of disorder from those of the young.

        윤이상의 <고풍의상>: 박, 박자 및 리듬적 특징 연구

        Yun`s early art song <Traditional Attire> successfully represents the rhythmic characteristics of Korean traditional music, which is the coexistence of duple and triple meter in musical time. However, it has never been studied in depth. Thus, this paper will discuss how Yun brought out the rhythmic characteristics of Korean traditional music, not depending on any particular changddan (rhythmic patterns of Korean traditional music), and rhythmic features of the Korean text within the musical texture. In the course of the study, "Si-Jo," one of the three genres of traditional Korean classical art song, will be mentioned, and Pyongsijo <Dong-chang-i> will be examined to provide background discussion.

      • Synergistic effects of alkylated graphene oxide on the properties of polypropylene-based carbon nanocomposites.

        <P>Polypropylene (PP)/carbon black (CB)-alkylated graphene oxide (AGO) hybrid nanocomposites were prepared via solution process and the synergistic effects of AGO on the properties of the PP/CB nanocomposites were investigated. AGO at a content of only 0.2 wt% formed an overlapped network structure in the PP matrix and affected the electrical, thermal and mechanical properties of the PP/CB nanocomposites. Specifically, PP/CB (5 wt%)-AGO (0.2 wt%) nanocomposites exhibited an electrical percolation threshold at lower CB contents than the PP/CB nanocomposites did, and the sheet resistance was decreased to 2.3 x 10(7) omega/sq. The thermal degradation temperature and recrystallization temperature of the PP/CB (10 wt%) nanocomposites were increased by 11.3 and 1.6 degrees C, respectively, by the addition of 0.2 wt% AGO. In addition, the Young's modulus of the PP/CB (10 wt%) nanocomposite was increased from 438.1 to 540.1 MPa.</P>

      • Young’s modulus measurement of a silicon nitride thin-film using an ultrasonically actuated microcantilever

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The Young’s modulus of a silicon nitride (Si<SUB>3</SUB>N<SUB>4</SUB>) thin-film was evaluated using an ultrasonically actuated microcantilever in the present study. The length, width, and thickness of the silicon microcantilever are 45 μm, 25 μm, and 1.78 μm, respectively. A 380 nm thick Si<SUB>3</SUB>N<SUB>4</SUB> film was deposited on the microcantilever’s surface using plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition. The free vibration of the microcantilever was induced by an ultrasonic transducer and detected using a Michelson interferometer. Results show that the optical measurement successfully captured the vibration of the microcantilever, which made it possible to determine the Young’s modulus of the Si<SUB>3</SUB>N<SUB>4</SUB> film. The results were validated by nanoindentation testing and were found to be in good agreement within the error ranges. The present investigation proposes a novel method to evaluate the material properties of thin-films and nanoscale materials with enhanced sensitivity and detectability.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> A nanomaterial measurement technique was developed using a high-speed microcantilever. </LI> <LI> The characterization of a nanoscale silicon nitride film was demonstrated. </LI> <LI> The results were validated using nanoindentation testing. </LI> </UL> </P>

        고속 마이크로 외팔보 공진시험을 통한 나노스케일 티타늄 박막의 탄성계수 평가

        The Young’s modulus of a nanoscale titanium (Ti) thin-film was evaluated using a high-speed microcantilever resonating at the megahertz frequency in the present study. A 350 nm thick Ti film was deposited on the surface of a silicon microcantilever, and the morphology of the film was analyzed using the atomic force microscopy. The microcantilever was excited to resonate using an ultrasonic pulser that generates tone burst signals and the resonance frequency shift induced by the deposition of Ti was measured using a Michelson interferometer. The Young’s modulus was determined through a modal analysis using the finite element method and the result was validated by the nanoindentation testing, showing good agreement within a relative error of 1.0%. The present study proposes a nanomechanical characterization technique with enhanced accuracy and sensitivity.

        터널 변위 거동 및 수치 모의실험의 결합 해석

        이 연구는 터널설계의 안정성을 예측하기 위한 터널거동분석에 초점을 맞춘 것이다. 3차원 수치해석, 현장계측 후 최대변형 및 사쿠라이에 의해 제안된 터널변형에 관한 경험적 안정성 평가방법들을 결합한 평가기법을 사용하였다. 사쿠라이가 사용한 계측자료들은 새로운 해석기법을 도입하여 재해석되었다. 터널안정해석을 위한 사쿠라이의 경험적 추세선은 이론적 추세선으로 새로이 도입되었으며, 이는 안정, 불안정 및 파괴영역으로 구분되었다. 터널 현장자료의 새 해석기법을 평가하기 위한 현장의 적용 예로, 김포의 지하철 9호선으로 연결되는 인천공항의 지하철터널을 이용하였다. 그 결과 터널보강후 인천공항 지하철의 상부 및 하부터널 모두 충분한 안정성을 보였다. 마이크로 실리카 그라우팅과 엄브레라방법에 의한 지반보강 후 겉보기 영계수가 상당히 증가하는 것을 볼 수 있었다. 그러므로, 제안된 새 해석기법을 이용하면, 터널변형과 지반조건에 따른 최적의 보강기법 선정에 활용할 수 있다. This study is focused on the analysis of tunnel behavior to estimate the stability on tunnel design. An estimation method was proposed as a hybrid consideration, which contains the displacement analysis by 3D numerical simulation, the maximum displacement obtained after field measurement, and an assessment of tunnel stability using a deformation analysis proposed by Sakurai(1988, 1997). The points of case study by Sakurai(1988, 1997) were replotted considering his analysis. From the new analysis of the tunnel case study, the trend line for analyzed points is analogized, which curve is divided into stable, unstable and failure zone. To evaluate the estimation method, a special shape of railway tunnel was selected, which are the Inchon international airport rail way connected to subway line 9 in Gimpo, Korea. The point s of upper and below track on the Inchon international airport rail way were satisfied to the stability of tunnel after reinforcing. Also the points shows the higher apparent Young`s modulus, which resulted from improvement on shear strength by the micro silica grouting and the supporting of umbrella method. Therefore, if new analysis used, proper tunnel reinforcing method could be selected according to tunnel strain and geological property.

        레이저 초음파를 이용한 표면파 측정 시스템 개발 및 박막의 탄성계수 평가 응용

        본 연구에서는 레이저로 여기된 표면파의 전파거동을 이용하여 박막의 탄성계수를 평가하는 측정시스템을 구축하였다. 나노초 펄스 레이저 광을 박막의 표면에 집속시킴으로써 국소적으로 가열된 지점에서 표면파를 생성하였으며, 레이저 간섭계를 사용하여 표면변위를 측정함으로써 시간영역 파형 신호를 얻었다. 실험 결과로부터 탄성계수를 도출하기 위하여 전달행렬법을 이용해 분산곡선을 계산하고 곡선맞춤 하였다. 1.0 μm 두께의 티타늄 박막에 대하여 나노압입시험과 비교검증을 한 결과 6.3% 오차범위 내에서 탄성계수 값이 일치하는 것을 확인하였다. 또한, 박막의 두께가 240 nm로 줄어들었을 때에 탄성계수는 단지 2.7% 증가하여 크기효과는 미미함을 확인하였다. A measurement system was established to evaluate Young’s modulus of thin films using the propagation behavior of the laser-induced surface acoustic wave (SAW). A nanosecond-laser beam was focused onto the surface of the thin film to generate SAW at the locally heated spot, and its time-domain waveforms were obtained using a laser interferometer by measuring the surface displacement. The transfer matrix method was used to calculate the dispersion curve such that Young"s modulus of the film can be deduced from the experimental data by curve-fitting. A 1.0 μm-thick titanium (Ti) film was tested, and the results were in good agreement with that of the nanoindentation testing with an error percentage of 6.3%. In addition, 240 nm Ti was tested, and only a 2.7% increase in the elastic property was observed, showing that the scale effect is not significant.

        일제강점기 한국 농민 이주의 문학적 형상화 : 이민촌의 풍경을 중심으로

        The aim of this writing is the searching into the aspects and its’ transition of literary representations about Korean peasants’ migration under the Japan’s colonial reign. This research have done focusing on the scenery of colonial migrant’s villages. This writing was intended to investigating about what were the scenery of colonial migrants’ villages and it’s the social discourses. Because the colonial migrants’ villages had made by Japan’s colonial government, it had showed the typical essences of colonial reign. The objects of this research are The Son of the Earth (Taejieui Adeul 대지의 아들 of Lee Ki-young, ?Peasants(Nonggun 농군)? of Lee Taejun, North Gando (Bukgando 북간도) of Ahn Soo-gil, Foreshore Fields (Gaetdeul 갯들) of Lim Young-chun, Arirang (아리랑) of Jo Jeong-rae etc. Social contexts of these texts ranged from colonial reign system to free diversified society. The changes of the social contexts had effected on the representative aspects of texts. During Japanese colonial reign, Korean peasants had been represented in utopian farmland by the imaginary geography. But since 1945, the scenery of colonial migrants’ villages were space that implied the coloniality and modernity and intervened the standpoint of colonizer and peasants settler. Korean migrant peasants have been changed in the literary texts following to social contexts. It had shown that they have possessed not ethnic identity but changed national identity. That have been represented from national to variety viewpoints.
