        Comparison of Lisianthus (Eustoma grandiflorum) Cultivars Based on the Selected Regeneration Media Using Anther Culture

        Double haploids in lisianthus cultivars were produced using anther culture. The anther of ‘Art Peach’ wascultured on the Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium with 3% sucrose with auxin and cytokinin. The highest frequencyof calli developed from anthers (100%) and green plantlets per 100 calli (60 regenerants) was observed on the mediumcontaining 8 mg・L-1 N6-benzyladenine (BA) and 0.1 mg・L-1 naphthaleneacetic acids (NAA). When anthers were culturedon the medium supplemented with 2 mg・L-1 BA and 0.5 mg・L-1 NAA, 33.3% of calli formed plantlets. Using theanther culture, callus induction and plantlets regeneration in five cultivars were developed differently, suggesting thatthe genotype might predetermined anther culture response. These results indicate that a highly efficient new microprogationtechnique can be provided by anther culture in vitro for lisianthus. Anther culture in vitro can provide a highly efficientnew microprogation technique for lisianthus.

        Shear behavior of short square tubed steel reinforced concrete columns with high-strength concrete

        Six shear-critical square tubed steel reinforced concrete (TSRC) columns using the high-strength concrete (fcu,150 = 86.6MPa) were tested under constant axial and lateral cyclic loads. The height-to-depth ratio of the short column specimens was specified as 2.6, and the axial load ratio and the number of shear studs on the steel shape were considered as two main parameters. The shear failure mode of short square TSRC columns was observed from the test. The steel tube with diagonal stiffener plates provided effective confinement to the concrete core, while welding shear studs on the steel section appeared not significantly enhancing the seismic behavior of short square TRSC columns. Specimens with higher axial load ratio showed higher lateral stiffness and shear strength but worse ductility. A modified ACI design method is proposed to calculate the nominal shear strength, which agrees well with the test database containing ten short square TSRC columns with shear failure mode from this study and other related literature.

        Voiding Dysfunction in Old Male Rats Associated With Enlarged Prostate and Irregular Afferent-Triggered Reflex Responses

        Purpose: This study was conducted to evaluate the hypothesis that an enlarged prostate in old rats may lead to complications associated with voiding dysfunction involving ionotropic P2X2/3-type purinergic receptors Methods: Intact animals were divided into male young (MYR; 8–10 weeks old) and male old (MOR; 20 months old) rats. The animals underwent simultaneous detrusor electromyography (EMG) and suprapubic cystometry (CMG) under urethane anesthesia. Immunofluorescence techniques were used to evaluate prostatic autonomic innervation and P2X3R expression in bladder urothelial cells. The functional role of P2X3R was characterized by intramuscular application of AF-353, a selective P2X2/3R antagonist. Results: The prostate index significantly increased in MOR, suggestive of an enlarged prostate affecting micturition patterns. Significant EMG and CMG differences were found between MYR and MOR. Higher immunoreactivity for P2X2/3R in the urothelial layer and for prostatic neurofilaments was seen in MOR. Systemic inhibition of P2X2/3R had minimal effects on MYR responsiveness, but improved voiding function in MOR with a marked decrease of intravesical pressure and bladder contractile responses. Conclusions: The data support the hypothesis that an enlarged prostate in MOR may contribute to voiding dysfunction involving activation of P2X2/3R, which enhances a prostate-bladder reflex. This reflex may increase bladder afferent transmission and activation of increased prostate innervation, leading to voiding dysfunction.

        XFEM-based Fatigue Crack Propagation Analysis on Key Welded Connections of Orthotropic Steel Bridge Deck

        Orthotropic steel decks(OSD’s) are prone to fatigue cracking under cyclic loads, especially for rib-to-deck welded connection and rib-to-crossbeam welded connection. To reveal fracturing behaviors of these fatigue-prone sites, a multi-scale model of OSD’s specimen is established, including segmental shell-element part and local solid-element configuration. Based on the extended finite element method(XFEM), propagation analysis was carried out in this research. The analysis of stress intensity factor (SIF) shows that the crack at the weld root or weld toe of the rib-to-deck welded connection is a mixed-crack with modes I, II and III, where mode I plays a leading role. Besides, the maximum SIF KI of the crack at the weld toe is slightly larger than that at the weld root. For rib-to-crossbeam welded connection, the maximum SIF KI at the weld toe of the U-rib is greater than that at the weld toe of the crossbeam. The analysis of crack propagation shows that the crack growth rate at the weld toe is faster than that at the weld root with the same initial crack size and loading conditions. Similarly, for rib-to-crossbeam welded connection, the crack propagation at the weld toe of U-rib performs faster than that at the weld toe of crossbeam.

        Effect of Phosphodiesterase-5 Inhibitors on the Treatment of Male Infertility: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

        Purpose: Male infertility is a worldwide problem with limitations in the treatment. Phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors (PDE5is) is the first choice for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, more and more studies show that it has a certain effect on male infertility in recent years. But there was currently no high quality of systematic review to evaluate the effects of PDE5is on semen quality. Materials and Methods: We retrieved the electronic databases of MEDLINE, PubMed, Web of Science, EMBASE, etc. Related randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were collected and selected up to May 20, 2020. We have searched literature with terms “male infertility”, “phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors”, “PDE5i”, “Tadalafil”, “Sildenafil”, “Vardenafil”, “Udenafil”, “Avanafil”, “semen”, and “sperm”. Mean value and its standard deviation were used to perform quantitative analysis. All statistical analyses were conducted by RevMan 5.3 and Stata software. Results: There were a total of 1,121 participants in the nine included studies. There was a statistically significant improvement treated with PDE5is compared with sham therapy, which including sperm concentration (mean difference [MD]=1.96, 95% confidence interval [CI]=1.70–2.21, p<0.001; MD=3.22, 95% CI=1.96–4.48, p<0.001), straight progressive motility (%) Grade A (MD=3.71, 95% CI=2.21–5.20, p<0.001), sperm motility (MD=8.09, 95% CI=7.83–8.36, p<0.001), morphologically normal spermatozoa (%) (MD=0.67, 95% CI=0.20–1.15, p=0.005; MD=1.27, 95% CI=0.02–2.52, p=0.05), sperm abnormalities (%) (MD=-0.64, 95% CI=-0.81–-0.47, p<0.001), and progressive motile sperm (MD=5.34, 95% CI=3.87–6.81, p<0.001). Conclusions: In this meta-analysis of nine RCTs, treatment with PDE5is could improve some indicators of male sperm.

        Solvent extraction of Fe3+ from the hydrochloric acid route phosphoric acid by D2EHPA in kerosene

        It is necessary to remove Fe3+ from the hydrochloric acid route phosphoric acid before it is purified by trin-butyl phosphate (TBP), otherwise the final product will fail because of the excessive iron content. Di-(2-ethylhexyl) phosphoric acid (D2EHPA, HA) is effective for Fe3+ extraction. Therefore, the solvent extraction of Fe3+ from the HCl-route phosphoric acid by D2EHPA in kerosene is investigated. The effects of the extraction time, temperature and concentrations of phosphoric acid, D2EHPA, calcium chloride and Fe3+ on the extraction process are studied. The mechanism of the extraction is explained and the extracted species is demonstrated to be FeClA2 4HA. D2EHPA has a high efficiency for Fe3+ extraction from the synthesis and actual HCl-route phosphoric acid with extraction percent of 98.61% and 96.50%, respectively via a cross-current 3-stage extraction. The loaded organic phase is effectively stripped (99.9%) using 6 mol/L hydrochloric acid. The extractant also has a high stability under a closed operation condition. D2EHPA can serve as an adequate extractant for the extraction of Fe3+ from the HCl-route phosphoric acid.

        Analysis of Peripheral B Cell Subsets in Patients With Allergic Rhinitis

        Purpose: Recent evidence suggests that B cells can both promote and inhibit the development and progression of allergic disease. However, the characteristics of B cell subsets in patients with allergic rhinitis (AR) have not been well documented. This study aimed to analyze the characteristics of B cell subsets in the peripheral blood of AR patients. Methods: Forty-seven AR patients and 54 healthy controls were enrolled in this study, and the B cell subsets in peripheral blood of all subjects were analyzed by flow cytometry. Moreover, the serum total immunoglobulin E (IgE) and IgE concentrations secreted into the cultured peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) were measured by using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Results: We found the peripheral blood of AR patients contained higher percentages of memory B cells, plasma cells, and CD19+CD24hiCD27+ regulatory B cells (Bregs) than those of age-matched healthy controls (P<0.05), while the percentages of naïve B cells and CD19+CD24hiCD38hi Bregs were significantly lower in AR patients than in healthy individuals (P<0.05). In addition, the serum total IgE and IgE concentrations secreted into the cultured PBMCs were elevated in AR patients than in the healthy controls (P<0.05). Conclusions: Our findings indicate that AR patients were characterized by increase in terminally differentiated memory B cells or plasma cells and decreases in CD19+CD24hiCD38hi Breg cells in the peripheral blood.

        Effects of a chitosan nanoparticles encapsulation on the properties of litchi polyphenols

        Litchi polyphenols have very specific biological activities. Nevertheless, the low and inconsistent oral bioavailability and instability hinder the further application of litchi polyphenols in food systems. This work prepared litchi polyphenols loaded chitosan nanoparticles (LP-CSNPs) by ionic gelation method to enhance the encapsulation on the properties of litchi polyphenols. The optimum conditions of formation via single factors and the Box–Behnken design were chitosan (CS) concentration 1.065 mg/mL, sodium tripolyphosphate (TPP) concentration 0.975 mg/mL, and the mass ratios of polyphenols and CS 1:1 with encapsulation efficiency (EE%) of 45.53%. LP-CSNPs presented the nanosized range of particle size (mean 170 nm), excellent polydispersity index (PDI) (0.156 ± 0.025), and zeta potential values (+ 35.44 ± 0.59). The in vitro release in simulated gastric fluid (pH 1.2) and intestinal fluid (pH 6.8) during 100 h was 58.34% and 81.68%, respectively. LP-CSNPs could effectively improve the storage stability and had great antibacterial activity compared with unencapsulated litchi polyphenols.

        With the in-depth implementation of the "Internet +" strategy in China, the further integration of internet within traditional industries creates new opportunities for industrial development. The overall market turnover in Chinese real estate industry turned into a low level, and the inventories continue rise. The traditional marketing models have got into trouble. More and more real estate companies begin to replace the original marketing models with utilizing the internet thinking in marketing promotion. Many enterprises are trying to combine various aspects of real estate marketing with internet to create new marketing models. This article introduces the new situation faced by the real estate marketing in the internet era, which includes real estate crowd funding (Zhong Chou), national marketing, the online to offline model of the real estate and classified information websites, and it also indicates the dilemmas in the application of the internet, such as lack of credibility of internet marketing, barriers on holding experience-focused promotion on internet, and no precise entry point to combine with the internet, etc. After all, this paper suggests reasonable recommendations on the development of the real estate marketing in the internet era.

      • Typhoon wind hazard analysis using the decoupling approach

        Analyzing the typhoon wind hazards is crucial to determine the extreme wind load on engineering structures in the typhoon prone region. In essence, the typhoon hazard analysis is a high-dimensional problem with randomness arising from the typhoon genesis, environmental variables and the boundary layer wind field. This study suggests a dimension reduction approach by decoupling the original typhoon hazard analysis into two stages. At the first stage, the randomness of the typhoon genesis and environmental variables are propagated through the typhoon track model and intensity model into the randomness of the key typhoon parameters. At the second stage, the probability distribution information of the key typhoon parameters, combined with the randomness of the boundary layer wind field, could be used to estimate the extreme wind hazard. The Chinese southeast coastline is taken as an example to demonstrate the adequacy and efficiency of the suggested decoupling approach.
