The purpose of this research is two-fold: first, to analyze the voting behaviors of resident population of Seoul in twenties and thirties over local autonomy and second, to provide candidates for local council with valuable informations excerpted from the grasp of their political propensities. For this study, our samples were extracted by Three-stage Stratified Random Sampling and data collection was conducted through individual interview method with questionaire for Feb. 4-9, 1991. In the result, only 792 out of 1000 respondents were available for the research(79.2%). As to research methodology, it required us to apply Frequencies Analysis, Crosstabs Analysis and Discriminant Analysis to analyze the collected data. Finally, a few of our research findings can be indicated as follows ; ① The eligible voters appeared to be relatively low in their recognition degree as to local autonomy and election. ② The quality of candidates was pointed out as more determinant factor than election campaign pledges and affiliated political party. ③ The study also goes on to say that a progressive disposition including familiarity with election district is overwhelmingly rated one of the most valuable qualifications of the candidates among the electorate. And ④ it seems unfortunate to find that the nation's distrust and indifference in politics occupied the voter's minds.

<P>Kaempferol-3-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (astragalin, AS), a major flavonoid that exists in various plants, exerts antioxidant, antitumor, anti-human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), and anti-inflammatory effects. However, the low water solubility of AS limits its use. In this study, we used cyclodextrin glucanotransferase (CGTase) with maltose (G2) as a donor molecule to enzymatically modify AS to improve its water solubility and physiochemical properties. We isolated the glycosylated astragalin (G1-AS) and identified the structure of G1-AS as kaempferol-3-O-beta-D-glucop-yranosyl-(1 -> 4)-O-alpha-D-glucopyranoside, where one glucose residue was transferred to AS. Gl-AS retained the antioxidative activity of the original AS compound; however, the solubility of G1-AS was 65-fold higher than that of AS. In addition, GI-AS showed enhanced anti-inflammatory effects and aldose reductase inhibitory activity compared to AS when applied to rat lenses.</P>
Assessment of Water Quality Calibration Criteria for Field-Scale Water Quality Model

The objective of this study was to assess the statistics and associated criteria for field-scale model used to simulate nutrient concentrations in paddy field. CREAMS-PADDY, a modified version of the field-scale CREAMS model, simulates the hydrologic, sediment, and nutrient cycles in paddy fields was applied in this study. The model was calibrated and validated using data from study rice paddy fields in Republic of Korea. The calibration statistics include mean and the minimum-maximum range associated with a “temporal window” that spans a period of several days. Because nutrient concentrations in paddy filed are typically sampled infrequently (on a weekly basis, at best) and represent only an instant in time, it is not reasonable to expect any model to simulate a daily average concentration equal to an observed value on a particular day. The 5-day window and related calibration statistics were applied in this study and the applicability of this concept was tested for field-scale water quality model. As a result of calibration and validation, the ponded water nutrient concentration values showed only small changes except the fertilization period. Because of the small changes in ponded water concentration, the size of 5-day window was too small to capture the observed values. Further study is required to establish the 5-day window calibration method for field-scale water quality modeling.
n-Hexadecane 개질을 위한 Rh담지 Al₂O₃촉매상에서의 Ce, La 조촉매 첨가효과

The diesel engine has a good fuel economy and high durability. However, the emission of NOx is plenty, resulted in the occurrence of air pollution. So NOx removal is presently receiving considerable research attention. In recent reviews, the synthesis gas or olefins produced from the diesel fuel reforming devices were directly injected into a de-NOx catalyst system. Therefore in this study, we have an attempt to produce the synthesis gas by a autothermal reforming of hexadecane over 1 wt%Rh/Ce_(x)La_(y) - Al₂O₃ catalysts. Ce was chosen to maximize H₂/CO ratio by inducing WGS reaction. And addition of La was expected to raise on support of thermal safty. As a result of this studies, Hexadecane conversion and H₂ selectivity was similarly improved by ordered supporting amount of Ce. Particularly, in case of 1 wt%Rh/O.8Ce-O.2La-Al₂O₃ catalyst, H₂ selectivity was the highest. In the area of 300-400˚C, H₂/CO ratio and CO₂/CO ratio was risen each other. It was indicated that Water-Gas-Shift reaction was induced.
고정원배가스에서 SOx 존재하에서의 NOx 제거를 위한 Lanthanoid 계 Perovskite 형 촉매의 연구

ABO₃형태의 Perovskite계열 복합 산화물 촉매를 사용하여 SCR공정(Selective Catalytic Reduction Process)에서 프로필렌을 환원제로 사용하여 SO_χ존재하에서의 NO_χ제거 활성을 조사하여 보았다. LaCoO₃촉매는 NO제거 활성이 A site에 Ce이 40 % 치환되었을 때, 최고의 활성을 나타내었으며 B site에는 60 %의 Fe을 부분 치환하였을 경우 저온(250-305℃)에서의 활성이 약간 떨어지나 비교적 넓은 온도범위에서 NO_χ제거 활성을 확보할 수 있었다. 또한 이는 전체적인 NO_χ제거 활성 결과와 산소결함(oxygen vacancy)측정 결과와 선형적으로 비례함을 얻을 수 있었고 이로부터 Perovskite형 촉매의 반응원리를 산소결함량과 연관하여 설명할 수 있었다. Mixed oxide catalysts of ABO₃ type Lanthanoid Perovskite have been investigated to remove NO_χ under SO_χ existence in SCR(Selective Catalytic Reduction) process using propylene as a reducing agent. When the catalyst was substituted 40 % of A site by Ce, it showed the maximum activity for LaCoO₃ catalyst. Substitution of B site in LaCoO₃ with Fe 60 % partially resulted in activity decrease in the range of low temperatures(250-350 ℃), but there were significant NO_χ reduction activities in the wide range of reaction temperature. It was found that NO_χ reduction activities were linearly correlated with oxygen vacancies of catalysts, and therefore the reaction principles of Perovskite catalyst employed in this work were well elucidated by the theory of oxygen vacancy.
