Tumor localization in patients receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) is challenging because substantial therapeutic remission of the original tumor after NACT is often noted. Currently, there is no guidance device that allows for an accurate estimation of the resection range in breast-conserving surgery after NACT. To increase the accuracy of tumor resection, we used a 3-dimensional-printed breast surgical guide based on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the supine position for a breast cancer patient who underwent breast-conserving surgery after NACT. Using this device, the breast tumor with apparent therapeutic changes after NACT on imaging was successfully removed with clear resection margins by identifying the original tumor site in the affected breast. Irrespective of whether the residual tumor area after NACT is well defined, it is possible to confirm and target the tumor area on pre-NACT MRI using this device.

Chinese characters are beneficial for Chinese learning, but their complexity and high cost of the acquisition have been a factor restricting the development of learners’ Chinese proficiency. Chinese characters are composed of three-dimensional integration characterized as form, sound, and meaning, so their learning difficulties should be many. However, the academic research on the difficulties of Korean learners of Chinese characters mainly focuses on the study of the challenging points of the font, and it was based on the researchers’ point of view. Utilizing the method of error analysis to find learners’ difficulties in Chinese characters from top to bottom, fewer studies are conveying the specific difficulties of Chinese characters from the perspective of learners. Therefore, this article will use a hybrid research method to study the difficulties in the three dimensions of form, sound, and meaning in the learning of Chinese characters. For intermediate and advanced Korean learners, the viewpoint of combining top-down and bottom-up and try to fully explore the intermediate and advanced levels. Korean learners’ difficulties in learning Chinese characters and the reasons for the difficulties are to be known to help teach Chinese characters in the future.

Background/Aims: The involvement of long noncoding RNAs in the carcinogenesis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has been well documented by substantial evidence. However, whether cytoskeleton regulator RNA (CYTOR) could affect the progression of HCC remains unclear. Methods: The relative expression of CYTOR, miR-125a-5p and HS1-associated protein X-1 (HAX-1) mRNA in HCC cells were determined via quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. The viability of treated HCC cells was measured by Cell Counting Kit-8 assay. Cell apoptosis was estimated by flow cytometry analysis, assessment of caspase-9 activity and terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick-end labeling staining, and Western blot of apoptosis-related proteins. The interplay between CYTOR or HAX-1 and miR-125a-5p was validated by dual-luciferase reporter assay. Results: CYTOR was upregulated and miR-125a-5p was downregulated in HCC cells. CYTOR silencing inhibited cell proliferation and promoted cell apoptosis in HepG2 and SMMC-7721 cells. miR-125a-5p was sponged and negatively regulated by CYTOR, and HAX-1 was directly targeted and negatively modulated by miR-125a-5p. Overexpression of miR-125a-5p enhanced the repressive effects of CYTOR knockdown on HCC cells, and knockdown of HAX-1 enhanced the inhibitory effects of miR-125a-5p mimics on HCC cells. Conclusions: CYTOR silencing facilitates HCC cell apoptosis in vitro via the miR-125a-5p/HAX-1 axis.
Identification of Homer1 as a Potential Prognostic Marker for Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma
Wu, San-Yun,Yu, Ming-Xia,Li, Xiao-Gai,Xu, Shu-Fang,Shen, Ji,Sun, Zhen,Zhou, Xin,Chen, Xing-Zhen,Tu, Jian-Cheng Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.7
Background: The aim of the present study was to analyze whether Homer1 is a potential prognostic marker for intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC). Materials and Methods: The expression of Homer1 in ICC tissue was detected with immunohistochemistry and levels of protein in ICC and paratumor tissues were evaluated by Western blotting. Survival analysis by the Kaplan-Meier method was performed to assess prognostic significance. Results: Homer1 expression was high in 67.4% (58/86) of ICC samples, and there was significant difference between ICC and adjacent noncancerous tissues (p<0.001); high expression was associated with poor histologic differentiation (p=0.019), TNM stage (p=0.014), lymph node metastasis (p=0.040), and lymphatic invasion (p=0.025). On Kaplan-Meier analysis, a comparison of survival curves of low versus high expressors of Homer1 revealed a highly significant difference in OS (p=0.001) and DFS (p=0.006), indicating that high expression of Homer1 was linked with a worse prognosis. Multivariate analyses showed that Homer1 expression was an independent risk factor predicting overall survival[Hazard ratio(HR), 7.52; 95% confidence interval (CI), 2.63-21.47; p=0.002] and disease-free survival (HR, 11.56; 95%CI, 5.17-25.96; p<0.001) in ICC. Conclusions: Homer1 promotes lymphatic invasion and associates with lymph node metastasis and poor prognosis of ICC. The current study shows that Homer1 may be an independent prognostic factor for ICC patients after curative resection, and it provides an important basis for screening/treating high-risk patients.
Mechanical analysis for prestressed concrete containment vessels under loss of coolant accident
Zhen Zhou,Chang Wu,Shao-ping Meng,Jing Wu 사단법인 한국계산역학회 2014 Computers and Concrete, An International Journal Vol.14 No.2
LOCA (Loss Of Coolant Accident) is one of the most important utmost accidents for Prestressed Concrete Containment Vessel (PCCV) due to its coupled effect of high temperature and inner pressure. In this paper, heat conduction analysis is used to obtain the LOCA temperature distribution of PCCV. Then the elastic internal force of PCCV under LOCA temperature is analyzed by using both simplified theoretical method and FEM (finite element methods) method. Considering the coupled effect of LOCA temperature, a nonlinear elasto-plasitic analysis is conducted for PCCV under utmost internal pressure considering three failure criteria. Results show that the LOCA temperature distribution is strongly nonlinear along the shell thickness at the early time; the moment result of simplified analysis is well coincident with the one of numerical analysis at weak constraint area; while in the strong constrained area, the value of moments and membrane forces fluctuate dramatically; the simplified and numerical analysis both show that the maximum moment occurs at 6hrs after LOCA.; the strain of PCCV under LOCA temperature is larger than the one of no temperature under elasto-plastic analysis; the LOCA temperature of 6hrs has the greatest influence on the ultimate bearing capacity with 8.43% decrease for failure criteria 1 and 2.65% decrease for failure criteria 3.

Tumor localization is challenging in the context of ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) treated with breast-conserving surgery. Conventional localization methods are generally performed under the guidance of ultrasonography or mammography and are rarely performed with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), which is more sensitive than the aforementioned modalities in detecting DCIS. Here, we report the application of MRI-based individualized 3-dimensional (3D)-printed breast surgical guides (BSGs) for patients with breast cancer. We successfully resected indeterminate and suspicious lesions that were only detected using preoperative MRI, and the final histopathologic results confirmed DCIS with clear resection margins. MRI guidance combined with 3D-printed BSGs can be used for DCIS localization, especially for lesions easily detectable using MRI only.
