        To investgate the causative Virus in aborbon of horse in Cheju, we examined the spleen of affected foal by immunohtochemistq and immunogold electron microscopy using EHV - specific antisera. Immunohistochemical staining revealed that a large number of EHV immunoreadive cells were deteded in the red pulp as well as in the sinudoidal cells in the affected spleen. By the immunogold electron microxopy(EM) of crude preparation of EHV culture, electron dense gold paricles were labelled along the envelope of amorphous virus parhcles with vanng sizes of 50-200nm. We suppose that immunohistochemical method is good for the diagnosis of tissues in EHV infections, and immunogold EM is recommended for the study of virus dia gnosis of fluid specimen as well as the ultrastustural study.

        It is required to understand the meaning of sound and cultural background of target spaces for soundscape design. The purpose of this study is to derive the general soundscape preserved in the mind of Korean people. Four kinds of traditional Korean songs, that is to say, Sijo (Korean verse), folk-song, Pansori (song for drama by Chang reciter), and popular songs, were used as tools of research subjects. That is because the sounds expressed in literature are very useful subjects for soundscape survey. Paragraphs containing description of sounds were selected from the lyrics of the songs. Then 11 sound categories were named, and 13 meaning categories were classified according to referential and emotional aspects, respectively.

      • 六一順氣湯 抽出物이 생쥐의 全腦虛血에 미치는 影響

        생쥐의 全腦虛血 모델에서 potassium cyanide 誘發 昏睡時間 및 生存時間, 減壓性 無酸素 負荷時 生存時間을 測定하여 全腦虛血時 腦循環代謝 改善 效果를 觀察하였다. KCN 誘發 昏睡時間의 短縮, 致死量의 KCN에 대한 生存時間의 延長, 減壓에 의한 無酸素 負荷時 生存時間의 延長 效果가 나타났다. The effect of Yukilsunki-tang extracts on global cerebral ischemia were investigated in this study. The multiple parameters of global cerebral ischemia assessed in mice included the duration of KCN-induced(1.8㎎/㎏ i.v.) coma, the survival time of KCN-induced(3.0㎎/㎏ i,v.) coma the survival time exposed to hypoxia induced by vacuum pump. In the case of global cerebral ischemia International Cancer Research mice were used and divided into two groups at random. Group A, normal control, was treated after oral administration of normal saline. Group B, experimental control, was treated after oral administration of 13.2㎎/20g of Yukilsunki-tang extracts. Each treatment was KCN-induced(1.8㎎/㎏ i.v.) coma, KCN-induced(3.0㎎/㎏ i.v.) coma and exposure to hypoxia induced by vacuum pump. The results were obtained as follows : In global cerebral ischemia, Yukilsunki-tang extracts significantly prolonged the duration of KCN-induced(1.8㎎/㎏ i.v.) coma, the survival time of KCN-induced(3.0㎎/㎏ i.v.) coma and the survival time of exposure to hypoxia induced by vacuum pump in mice. Conclusion Yukilsunki-tang extracts had a significant effect on Global cerebral ischemia.

        동일한 시료에 대한 국내 기관간의 STR 분석결과 비교 : STR 유전자좌 분석법의 표준화 설정을 위하여

        This paper described a collaborative exercise intended to see what kinds of short tandem repeat (STR) loci are used in different DNA typing laboratories in Korea and to compare their results for the demonstration whether uniformity of DNA profiling results from different laboratory could be achieved in Korea Laboratories were asked to test five tissue DNAs using methods routinely used in each laboratory and to report the results to the coordinating laboratory. The exercise demonstrated that each laboratory was using different STR loci for the typing with different STR numbers,2 VNTRS,36 STRs and amelogenin in total, and the direct comparison of the results from all the laboratory for the 18 loci could not be done as only one laboratory submitted typing results. Among 21 loci for which several laboratories submitted typing results, results for 14 loci were the same and results for the other 7 loci were different depending on the participating laboratory. D1S80, F13A01, D16S539, D21S11, D18S51, D3S1744 were the loci with different typing results. Even in the cases where commercial kits were used, the results were not the same depending on the machines used, that is the capillary electrophoresis or the gel based electrophoresis. The reason for the different results, points about the standardization of the methods arid the profiling data were described.

      • 小續命湯 抽出物이 全腦虛血 및 局所腦虛血에 미치는 影響

        이 실험의 목적은 小續命湯에 대하여 KCN(potassium cyanide)으로 유발된 혼수시간과 생존시간을 측정하여 全腦虛血에 미치는 영향을 관찰하고, 또한 MCA occlusion 유발시 腦浮腫率과 腦虛血面積을 측정하여 局所腦虛血에 미치는 영향을 실험연구하였다. 1. 전뇌허혈 유발실험에서 유의성있는 KCN 유발 혼수시간의 단축, 치사량의 KCN에 대한 생존시간의 연장 효과가 나타났다. 2. 국소 뇌허혈 유발실험(MCA occlusion)에 미치는 효과에서는 뇌허혈면적과 뇌부종율이 대조군에 비하여 유의성있게 감소하였다. The effects of Sosokmyung-tang(小續命湯) on global cerebral ischemia and cerebral in farction by MCA(middle cerebral artery) occlusion were evaluated in this study. This study was performed to investigate that Sosokmyung-tang would be useful for cerebrovascular diseases. In the case of global cerebral ischemia, ICR mice were used and divided into three group at random. Control group was treated after oral administration of normal saline, experimental group was treated after oral administration of 10,4㎎/20g/day of Sosokmyung-tang extract. The multiple parameter of global cerebral ischemia included the duration of coma of KCN(potassium cyanide)-injected(1.2㎎/㎏,i.v) group and the survival time of KCN-injected(3.0㎎/㎏,i.v) group. In the case of cerebral infarction by MCA occlusion, Sprague-Dawley rats were used and divided into three group at random. Control group was given nothing before MCA occlusion, experimental group was given 157.2㎎/250g/day of Sosokmyung-tang extract before MCA occlusion. We investigated edema and ischemic ratio in 8 slices of rats' brain after MCA occlusion. The results were obtained as follows : 1. Sosokmyung-tang significantly shortened the duration of coma of KCN-injected (1.2㎎/㎏,i.v) group and lengthened the survival time of KCN-injected(3.0㎎/㎏,i.v) group. 2. Sosokmyung-tang significantly decreased cerebral edema and ischemic ratio in rats after MCA occlusion. From the above results, it was concluded that Sosokmyung-tang can be effectively applied to cerebrovascular diseases.

      • 三鍾 黃連類의 氣管支 平骨筋 弛緩效果에 關한 硏究

        This study was carried out to investigate the tracheal muscle relaxation of water extracts of three kinds of Coptis thizoma and also compare of Coptis rhizoma, in isolated rat tracheal smooth muscle. As a result, Coptis chinensis showed significant tracheal muscle relaxation on KCI-induced contraction and more markedly on carbachol-induced contraction in close-dependent manner. Coptis japonica exhibited also tracheal muscle relaxation on both contraction with slightly weaker activities than those of Coptis chinensis. The activities of the root hair of Coptis chinensis were the most weakest in three thizomas. Berberine and palmatine had strong tracheal muscle relazation, especially, on carbachol-induced contraction, however, their activities on KCI-induced contraction were weaker than that of Coptis chinensis. The inhibitory effects of three kinds of Coptis rhizoma on the contraction by KCI and carbachol were inbestigated to explain the process of their tracheal muscle relaxation. All rhizomas inhibited the contraction by both agents, among them, Coptis japonica showed the most significant effect, so indicating the tracheal muscle relaxation of Coptis rhizoma may be concerned with the blocking of muscarine receptor and Ca²+ channel.

      • 固眞飮子가 galactosamine으로 유발한 흰쥐의 간중독에 미치는 영향

        최근 간질환에 대한 진단과 기술의 비약적인 발전에도 불구하고 치료방법론에서는 그 해결이 모호한 상태에 있다. 실험적으로 간중독을 유발시킨 동물에 약물을 투여하여 그 약화를 입증하려는 노력이 진행되고 있다. 이에 저자는 固眞飮子가 간독성의 완화효과에 미치는 영향을 관찰하기 위하여 固眞飮子추출물을 투여한 흰쥐에 galactosamine으로 간독성을 유발하고 간조직내 glutathione과 과산화지질의 함량, 혈청중의 GOT, GPT, γ-GPT, ALT, LDH의 효소활성측정 및 혈청중의 bile acid함량을 측정하여 다음과 같은 유의한 결과를 얻었다. glutathione의 함량은 固眞飮子을 전처치한 실험군에서 유의성 있게 증가하여고, 과산화지질, 혈청중 GOT, GPT, γ-GPT, ALT, LDH, bile acid는 고진음자를 전처치한 실험군에서 유의성있게 감소하였다. The purpose of this study is to observe the protective effect of Kojinyumja on serum reaction and hepatic tissue in galactosamine treated rats. In this study, the experimental rats divided four group(Normal group, Control group, Sample A group, and Sample B group): Under the same condition, normal and contro1 group were administered water, sample A, B group were administered Kojinyumja for 8days. And then, Coth control group and Sample B group were injected to abdomen with galactosamine for 1day. The rates of glutathione, lipid peroxide, GOT, GPT, γ-GTP, ALP, LDH, and contents of bile acid level were measured. The results are as follows: The glutathione rate significantly increased in sample group, the others(lipid peroxide, G0T, GPT, γ-GTP, ALP, LDH, bile acid) significantly decreased in sample group.
