This is a case of bony ankylosis of right temporomandibular joint with mild facial asymmetry resulted from trauma, which bring about the right condylar fracture, and corrected by interpositional arthroplasty with temporal fascia flap and coronoidectomy. The postoperative results were functionally and esthetically good, but continued osbervation is necessary to evaluation of abnormal bony growth and reankylosis.
Helicobacter pylori와 대장균의 Shuttle Vector 개발

In this study, a vehicle vector using cryptic plasmids was constructed for gene transfer in Helicobacter pylori. pHP51(3.9 kb) and pHP489(1.2 kb) were selected for constructing vectors from cryptic plasmid of H. pylori isolates in Korea. The HindⅢ-digestedDNA fragment(1.2kb) of pHP489 and 1.6kb DNA fragment of pHP51 were ligated with a kanamycin resistance gene(aph3'-Ⅲ) from C. jejuni to produce the recombinant plasmids pHP489K and pHP51K, respectively. Transformation frequency of pHP51K by electroporation was low. But pHP489K could be effectively transformed into various H. pylori strains. In order to design an intermdiate vehicle vector for gene transfer into H. pylori, pBlueHP489K was prepared by recloning pHP489K DNA into pBluescript and pTZ19R vector. This vector permitted the DNA fragment containing pHP489 sequence, aph3'-Ⅲ, and cloned DNA to be cut and self-ligated in the SacⅠ site after cloning. ureA and ureB gene were inserted into pBlueHP489K, resulting in pBlueHP489K/AB. The DNA fragment containing pHP489, kanamycin resistance gene(aph3'-Ⅲ), and urease structural gene was cut away from pBlueHP489K/AB and self-ligated to generate pBlueHP489K/AB. pBlueHP489K/AB made urease-negative H. pylori strains restore their urease activity. By this experiment, pBlueHP489K was confirmed to be the vehicle system for transferring H. pylori genes.

Although the thermal conductivity of single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs, 6000W/mK max.) is higher than multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs, 3000W/mK max.), the thermal conductivity of SWCNTs nanofluids has not been reported due to their technical difficulties. In this paper, water/1-propanol-based SWCNTs nanofluid with the volume fraction of 0.01% is manufactured by the two-step method. The characteristics of the viscosity as a function of shear rate are measured with Brookfield LVDV-Ⅲ Ultra. Finally the temperature dependency of the thermal conductivity is reported using the transient hot wire method with 1.5% uncertainty.

Generalized granuloma annulare (GGA) is a rare variant of granuloma annulare, presenting with diffuse papules and annular patches on the trunk and extremities. Though the pathogenesis of GGA has not been totally understood, recent studies have shown the relationship between malignancy and GGA. A 74-year-old man developed a generalized, mildly pruritic erythematous papules, which slowly coalesced into annular patch with elevated rim. Punch biopsy showed palisading and interstitial granuloma with giant cells. A complete blood cell count with differential revealed leukopenia and subsequent findings of the bone marrow biopsy were compatible with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). As there was no more progression of MDS, only the skin lesions were treated with hydroxychloroquine, isotretinoin and phototherapy, and improved after 14 months of treatment. We recommend that careful evaluation of the underlying solid tumor, as well as hematologic malignancy, should be done when the dermatologists encounter with the patient presenting generalized granuloma annulare.
Simulation of the Optical Transmittance of IPS LC-Cell on Temperature Variation

<P> In this paper we calculated optical transmittance of the In-Plane Switching (IPS) liquid crystal (LC) cell with respect to temperature. By considering temperature energy term in the Gibb's free energy, we could achieve the temperature parameters that need to calculate the temperature dependence on the electro-optic characteristics. The calculated temperature parameters permit us to calculate scalar order parameter S with respect to temperature, so that finally we could calculate the optical transmittance of the IPS LC cell as a function of temperature.</P>
