Heng-Cheng Hsu,김재원,박정열,서동훈,김세익,Jen-Ruei Chen,Peng-Hui Wang 대한부인종양학회 2024 Journal of Gynecologic Oncology Vol.35 No.2
As per the 2018 GLOBOCAN database, Asia accounted for 48.7% (637,761) of new gynecologiccancer cases and 50.1% (305,000) of gynecologic cancer deaths [1]. Recognizing the distinctdifferences in genetic background, cancer epidemiology, disease characteristics, and socio-cultural environment between Asian and non-Asian women, it is noteworthy that much ofthe experimental evidence guiding clinical gynecologic oncology practices has historicallybeen drawn from studies in Western populations. Established in 2008, the Asian Society ofGynecologic Oncology (ASGO) ser ves as a key organization in Asia, dedicated to advancingthe study, prevention, and treatment of gynecological cancer through scientific exchange,regional/international collaboration, educational initiatives, and fostering camaraderieamong its members [2]. Presently, ASGO boasts members from over 10 countries in Asia. Building on the success of the previous meetings held in Tokyo (2009) [3], Seoul (2011)[4], Kyoto (2013) [5], Seoul (2015) [6], Tokyo (2017) [7], Incheon (2019) [8], and Bangkok(2021) [9], the eighth Biennial Meeting of ASGO took place at the state-of-the-art HNBKInternational Convention Center in Taipei, Taiwan, from December 01 to 03, 2023. Theoverarching theme for this event was “Reunion to Overcome Gynecologic Cancer in Asia.”Notably, due to the impact of the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic in 2021, the meetingwas transformed into a hybrid format. This gathering marked a significant milestone as thefirst in-person Pan-Asia meeting focused on gynecological cancer following the pandemic. Additionally, it is worth highlighting that this was the inaugural ASGO meeting held outsideof Korea and Japan, underscoring the broadening geographical scope and global impactof the conference. Professor Peng-Hui Wang and Jae-Weon Jim chaired the organizingcommittee. ASGO 2023 witnessed the participation of 633 attendees from 17 countries, featuring 152 honored speakers and chairs from 12 countries. The event included 44 oral/surgical video presentations and 187 poster presentations, covering a diverse range ofscientific topics, from fundamental principles of gynecological cancer care to advanced, high-technology practices rooted in cutting-edge research (Table 1). ( Meng Hui Wang ),( Peng Peng ),( Yu Mei Liu ),( Rui Bao Jia ),( Li Li ) 한국미생물 · 생명공학회 2013 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.23 No.2
Rhodococcus sp. strain p52, a previously isolated dibenzofuran degrader, could effectively inhibit the growth of cyanobacteria, including species of Microcystis, Anabaena, and Nodularia. When strain p52 was inoculated at the concentration of 7.7×107 CFU/ml, 93.5% of exponentially growing Microcystis aeruginosa (7.3×106 cells/ml initially) was inhibited after 4 day. The threshold concentration for its algicidal activity against M. aeruginosa was 7.7×106 CFU/ml. Strain p52 exerted algicidal effect by synthesizing extracellular substances, which were identified as trans-3-indoleacrylic acid, DL-pipecolic acid, and L-pyroglutamic acid. The effective concentrations of trans-3-indoleacrylic acid and DL-pipecolic acid against M. aeruginosa were tested to be 0.5 mg/l and 5 mg/l, respectively.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs), a class of small non-coding RNAs, mediate gene expression by either cleaving target mRNAs or inhibiting their translation. They have key roles in the tumorigenesis of several cancers, including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical significance of miR-638 in the evaluation of NSCLC patient prognosis in response to chemotherapy. First, we detected miR-638 expression levels in vitro in the culture supernatants of the NSCLC cell line SPC-A1 treated with cisplatin, as well as the apoptosis rates of SPC-A1. Second, serum miR-638 expression levels were detected in vivo by using nude mice xenograft models bearing SPC-A1 with and without cisplatin treatment. In the clinic, the serum miR-638 levels of 200 cases of NSCLC patients before and after chemotherapy were determined by quantitative real-time PCR, and the associations of clinicopathological features with miR-638 expression patterns after chemotherapy were analyzed. Our data helped in demonstrating that cisplatin induced apoptosis of the SPC-A1 cells in a dose- and time-dependent manner accompanied by increased miR-638 expression levels in the culture supernatants. In vivo data further revealed that cisplatin induced miR-638 upregulation in the serum derived from mice xenograft models, and in NSCLC patient sera, miR-638 expression patterns after chemotherapy significantly correlated with lymph node metastasis. Moreover, survival analyses revealed that patients who had increased miR-638 levels after chemotherapy showed significantly longer survival time than those who had decreased miR-638 levels. Our findings suggest that serum miR-638 levels are associated with the survival of NSCLC patients and may be considered a potential independent predictor for NSCLC prognosis.

The amylolytic yeast Saccharomycopsis fibuligera is a predominant species in starters and the early fermentation stage of Chinese liquor (Baijiu). However, the genetic diversity of the species remains largely unknown. Here we sequenced the genomes of 97 S. fibuligera strains from different Chinese Baijiu companies. The genetic diversity and population structure of the strains were analyzed based on 1,133 orthologous genes and the whole genome single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs). Four main lineages were recognized. One lineage contains 60 Chinese strains which are exclusively homozygous with relatively small genome sizes (18.55–18.72 Mb) and low sequence diversity. The strains clustered in the other three lineages are heterozygous with larger genomes (21.85–23.72 Mb) and higher sequence diversity. The genomes of the homozygous strains showed nearly 100% coverage with the genome of the reference strain KPH12 and the sub-genome A of the hybrid strain KJJ81 at the above 98% sequence identity level. The genomes of the heterozygous strains showed nearly 80% coverage with both the sub-genome A and the whole genome of KJJ81, suggesting that the Chinese heterozygous strains are also hybrids with nearly 20% genomes from an unidentified source. Eighty-three genes were found to show significant copy number variation between different lineages. However, remarkable lineage specific variations in glucoamylase and α-amylase activities and growth profiles in different carbon sources and under different environmental conditions were not observed, though strains exhibiting relatively high glucoamylase activity were mainly found from the homozygous lineage.
Green’s-function-based-finite element analysis of fully plane anisotropic elastic bodies
Hui Wang,Qing-Hua Qin,Yong-Peng Lei 대한기계학회 2017 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.31 No.3
In the paper, an anisotropic Green’s function based hybrid finite element was developed for solving fully plane anisotropic elastic materials. In the present hybrid element, the interior displacement and stress fields were approximated by the linear combination of anisotropic Green’s functions derived by Lekhnitskii formulation, the element frame fields were constructed by the interpolation of general shape functions widely used in the conventional finite element, and then they are linked by a new double-variable hybrid functional. Because the approximated interior fields exactly satisfied the governing equations related to anisotropic elasticity, all integrals in the present hybrid functional were performed along the element boundary and theoretically arbitrary hybrid polygonal element can be constructed. Finally, the present hybrid polygonal element with four edges was verified by making comparison of numerical results and exact solutions in a cantilever composite beam made with angled lamina.
The MDM2 SNP309T>G Polymorphism Increases Bladder Cancer Risk among Caucasians: a Meta-analysis
Wang, Huai-Gao,Wu, Qing-Yun,Zhou, Hui,Peng, Xin-Sheng,Shi, Meng-Jie,Li, Jie-Mei,Zhou, Yan-Fang Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.13
Published studies have evaluated associations between the MDM2 SNP309T>G polymorphism and bladder cancer susceptibility. However, these generated inconsistent results. The aim of the present investigation was to quantify the strength of association between MDM2 SNP309T>G polymorphism and bladder cancer risk by conducting a meta-analysis. We searched PubMed and Embase for related studies that had been published in English before April 1, 2014 and associations were assessed by summarizing the odds ratios (ORs) with the corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Five case-control studies with a total of 972 cases and 1,012 controls were finally identified to be eligible for the meta-analysis. Overall, the results indicated that there was no significant association between the MDM2 SNP309T>G polymorphism and bladder cancer risk (for the allele model G vs. T: OR=1.08, 95% CI 0.85-1.36, p=0.54; for the co-dominant model GG vs. TT: OR=1.20, 95% CI 0.74-1.93, p=0.46; for the dominant model GG+GT vs. TT: OR=0.98, 95% CI 0.80-1.20, p=0.83; for the recessive model GG vs. GT+TT: OR=1.20, 95% CI 0.83-1.74, p=0.33). However, on subgroup analysis by ethnicity, significant associations were found in Caucasians in three models (for the allele model G vs. T: OR=1.41, 95% CI 1.10-1.81, p=0.006; for the co-dominant model GG vs. TT: OR=2.16, 95% CI 1.28-3.63, p=0.004; for the recessive model GG vs. GT+TT: OR=2.06, 95% CI 1.31-3.22, p=0.002). In summary, the present meta-analysis provides evidence that the genotype for the MDM2 SNP309T>G polymorphism may be associated with genetic susceptibility to bladder cancer among Caucasians.
