To measure atmospheric temperature, water vapor, and aerosol simultaneously, an efficient multi-function Raman lidar using an ultraviolet-wavelength laser has been developed. A high-performance spectroscopic box that utilizes multicavity interference filters, mounted sequentially at small angles of incidence, is used to separate the lidar return signals at different wavelengths, and to extract the signals with high efficiency. The external experiments are carried out for simultaneous detection of atmospheric temperature, water vapor, and aerosol extinction coefficient in Beijing, under clear and hazy weather conditions. The vertical profiles of temperature, water vapor, and aerosol extinction coefficient are analyzed. The results show that for an integration time of 5 min and laser energy of 200 mJ, the mean deviation between measurements obtained by lidar and radiosonde is small, and the overall trend is similar. The statistical temperature error for nighttime is below 1 K up to a height of 6.2 km under clear weather conditions, and up to a height of 2.5 km under slightly hazy weather conditions, with 5 min of observation time. An effective range for simultaneous detection of temperature and water vapor of up to 10 km is achieved. The temperature-inversion layer is found in the low troposphere. Continuous observations verify the reliability of Raman lidar to achieve real-time measurement of atmospheric parameters in the troposphere.

The significant public health concerns related to air pollution that contains particulate matter (PM) and the airborne transmission of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 raised considerable interest in high performance air filtration membranes. The highly ferroelectric polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) nanofiber filter membrane is successfully fabricated via the electrospinning process for high-performance low-cost air filtration. Spectroscopic and ferroelectric/piezoelectric analyses of PVDF NF show that a thinner PVDF NF typically forms a ferroelectric β phase with a confinement effect. A 70-nm PVDF NF membrane exhibits the highest fraction of β phase and the largest polarization behavior from piezoresponse force microscopy. An ultra-thin 70-nm PVDF NF membrane exhibits a high PM0.3 filtration efficiency of 97.4% with a low pressure drop of 5.2 mmH2O at an air flow of 5.3 cm/s owing to the synergetic combination of the slip effect and ferroelectric dipole interaction.

Background: The aim of this study was to analyze the prognostic implications of pretreatment circulating endothelial cells (CECs) and circulating endothelial progenitor cells (CEPCs) for the survival of patients with lung cancer. Materials and Methods: Relevant literature was identified using Medline and EMBASE. Patient clinical characteristics, overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) together with CEC and CEPC positive rates before treatment were extracted. STATA 12.0 was used for our analysis and assessment of publication bias. Results: A total of 13 articles (8 for CEC and 5 for CEPC, n=595 and n=244) were pooled for the global meta-analysis. The odds ratio (OR) for OS predicted by pretreatment CECs was 1.641 [0.967, 2.786], while the OR for PFS was 1.168 [0.649, 2.100]. The OR for OS predicted by pretreatment CEPCs was 12.673 [5.274, 30.450], while the OR for PFS was 4.930 [0.931, 26.096]. Subgroup analyses were conducted according to clinical staging. Odds ratio (OR) showed the high level of pretreatment CECs only correlated with the OS of patients with advanced lung cancer (stage III-IV). Conclusions: High counts of CECs seem to be associated only with worse 1-year OS in patients with lung cancer, while high level of pretreatment CEPCs correlate with both worse PFS and OS.
유튜브 뮤직(YouTube Music)의 만족 및 지속이용의도 결정 요인에 관한 연구 – 유튜브 프리미엄(YouTube Premium) 구독자를 중심으로 -

본 연구는 음악 스트리밍 서비스 ‘유튜브 뮤직’을 대상으로 이용자의 선택요인(UGC 서비스, 콘텐츠 충분성, 콘텐츠 다양성, 요금제 수준, 개인화, 시스템 품질)을 도출하고 이들이 만족도와 지속이용의도에 미치는 영향을 실증 분석하였다. 이를 위해 유튜브 프리미엄(YouTube Premium) 구독자 중 주로 유튜브 뮤직(YouTube)을 통해 음악을 감상하는 314명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 선택요인 중 개인화, 시스템 품질, 콘텐츠 충분성, 요금제 수준만이 유튜브 뮤직 이용자의 만족도와 지속이용의도에 유의한 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤고 UGC 서비스와 콘텐츠 다양성은 유의한긍정적인 영향을 미치지 못했다. 본 연구에서는 연구결과에 따른 유튜브 뮤직과 국내음악 스트리밍 사업자에의 시사점을 논의하였다. In this study, the user’s selection factors (UGC service, content sufficiency, content diversity, pricing plan, personalization, system quality) were derived for the music streaming service ‘YouTube Music’, and their effect on satisfaction and continuous use intention was empirically investigated. To this end, a survey was conducted on 314 YouTube Premium subscribers who mainly listen to music through YouTube Music. As a result of the analysis, among the selection factors, only personalization, system quality, content sufficiency, and pricing plan had significant positive effects on the satisfaction and continued use intention of YouTube Music users, but UGC service and content diversity did not. The implications of YouTube Music and other domestic music streaming providers according to the study results were discussed.
α-Glucosidase inhibitory caged xanthones from the resin of Garcinia hanburyi

A yellow resin (gamboge) from Garcinia hanburyi has been widely used as folk medicine due to its antibacterial and antitumor activities. We isolated four α-glucosidase inhibitory compounds from the methanol extract of gamboge. The compounds (1-4) were identified as gambogoic acid (1), moreollic acid (2), gambogic acid (3), and 10-methoxygambogenic acid (4), respectively through spectroscopic data including 2D-NMR and HREIMS. All compounds were examined in the enzyme inhibition assay against α-glucosidase to identify their inhibitory potencies and kinetic behavior. All compounds (1-4) showed enzyme inhibition against α-glucosidase, but the activity was significantly affected by the methoxy group on C-10 of ring A and pentenyl pyran moiety of ring D. For example, compound 1 (IC<sub>50</sub> =41.4 μM) bearing pyran ring eight times effective that 4 (IC<sub>50</sub> =350.6 μM) having geranyl group itself. Most active compound was found out to be gambogoic acid (1) which was analyzed most abundant metabolite in gamboge by LC-ESI-MS/MS. In kinetic study, compounds 1 and 2 were proved as noncompetitive inhibitors.
Comparison of phenolics compounds between healthy and viroid-infected grapes in Korea

Grapes are widely consumed fruits in Korea. It has been used for the products such as raisins, wine, juice, vinegar and sweet spreads. However, grapes are subject to viroid infection, causing malformed berries and reducing fruit quality and yield. In this study, effect of Grapevine yellow speckle viroid 1 (GYSVd1) on the phenolics in grape skin of three different cultivars including ‘Campbell Early’, ‘Kyoho’, and ‘Shine muscat’ were investigated by liquid chromatography method. Nineteen phenolic compounds in grape skin of three cultivars were detected using HPLC-PDA-MS/MS. Maximum wavelength of anthocyanins were determined at 520 nm while the others were quantified at 350 nm. The separation was achieved by using a mobile phase containing 10% formic acid in water (A) and 10% formic acid in acetonitrile (B) with a gradient elution (Tmin/B: T0/7; T20/20; T45/30; T60/60) at a flow rate of 0.7 mL/min. As a result, considerable decreases of anthocyanins in ‘Campbell’ and ‘Kyoho’ cultivars were observed in viroid infection group (p<0.05). Additionally, content of flavonols in viroid samples of all three cultivars increased signifacantly (p<0.05) and there were no significant change in phenolic acid content. Because of the viroid infection, flavonols seems to be more synthesized, which could act as the ‘antibody’ of grapes. However, reduction of anthocyanins will lead to low quality of the berries as well as products made from viroid-infected grapes.
