Objectives: To examine the association between diet quality and osteosarcopenic obesity (OSO), low bone and muscle mass with concurrent high fat mass, in middle-aged and older adults. Study design: Data were from a cross-sectional study of 2579 men and 3550 women aged 50 years and older who completed the Korea National Health and Nutritional Examination Survey from 2008 to 2010. Main outcome measures: Data were collected using 24-h dietary recall, and diet quality was determined by the Diet Quality Index-International (DQI-I), on which higher scores denote better quality. Body composition was evaluated by dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry. The association between dietary quality and the number of body composition abnormalities (including OSO) was analyzed by multinomial logistic regression, adjusting for covariates. Results: In women, after controlling for covariates, higher scores on the DQI-I were associated with a significantly lower number of phenotypes associated with adverse body composition. Those in the highest tertile group of DQI-I were less likely to have OSO compared with those in the lowest tertile (odds ratio=0.54, 95% confidence interval: 0.32-0.92). In men, DQI-I scores were not associated with the number of body composition abnormalities. Conclusions: Middle-aged and older women who eat a healthier diet, as determined by a high DQI-I score, are less likely to have multiple body composition abnormalities.

Type-C retrovirus, human T-cell leukemia virus type-l(HTLV-1), has been shown to be associated etiologically with adult T-cell leukemia, which is an endemic disease in southwestern parts of Japan. We examined the seroepidemiological characteristics of antibody to adult T-cell leukemia virus associated antigen (anti-ATLA-antibody) by the indirect immunofluorescent assay and ELISA from the healthy individuals and various diseased patients in the Republic of Korea, a country adjacent to Japan in which HTLV-1 is endemic. The results were as follows. 24 out of 9,603 individuals(0.25%) were seropiositive. The positve rate was 0.17% in males and 0.36% in females, the sex difference was female predominent relatively. HTLV-1 carriers were found 16 individuals in Seoul, 5 in Kyonggi area, 1 in Chungnam and Jonbuk, respectively, but found only 1 individual in Busan city and Jaejoo area close to southwestern parts of Japan. Positive rate to anti-ATLA-antibody seemed to be high in older age, especially at the 50s(0. 4Yo). In conclusion the prevalence rate of anti-ATLA- antibody seemed to be very low in the Republic of Korea adjacent to Japan in which HTLV-1 is endemic and no patient with adult T-cell leukemia has been found as yet. Also we noted that the Republic of Korea is not an endemic area to HTLV-1.

In this paper, dynamic performance of 4WD/4WS Electric-driven vehicles is investigated. A coupled dynamic model is introduced for longitudinal, lateral and yawing motion of 4WD/4WS vehicles. Based on the coupled model, dynamic performance is analyzed for steady-state steering, acceleration steering and brake steering, respectively. These non steady-state cornering analysis is important for non-paved road maneuvering, trajectory projection for armored vehicle and future AVCS(Advanced Vehicle Control System) technology. Simulation results are obtained based on a simulink module for the introduced model.

Along with increasing public concerns on acne and its complications, increasing treatment options seem to lead more acne patients to clinics globally, including Korea. The aim of the present study was to investigate the number and distribution of acne patients according to age group by analyzing number and age of outpatients from several general hospitals in Korea. Two retrospective multicenter studies including 14 general hospitals for a maximum of 10years were conducted by medical chart review of acne patients. During the last 10years, total acne patients have increased by 60% in number and patients under the age of 19years have doubled. Adult acne patients (aged >18years) accounted for the biggest portion in total acne patients at over 80%. Although upper grade of elementary school patients (aged 10-12years) accounted for the biggest portion among the childhood acne patients, children under 10years have also increased rapidly by 73% during the last 10years. Childhood acne patients (aged <13years) accounted for 11% of total acne patients. We found that acne patients were increasing consistently and the portion of those aged under 19years is getting bigger. Additionally, childhood acne patients have increased remarkably.

The conventional high frequency phase-shifted full bridge dc/dc converter has a disadvantage that a circulating current flows through transformer and switching devices during the freewheeling interval. Due to this circulating current, RMS current stress, conduction losses of transformer and
switching devices are increased. To alleviate this problem, this paper provides a
circulating current free type high frequency soft switching phase-shifted full bridge (FB) dc/dc converter with energy recovery snubber (ERS) attached at the secondary side of transformer. The energy recovery snubber (ERS) adopted in this study is consisted of three fast recovery diode(Dsl, DS2, Ds3), two resonant capacitor (Csl, Cs2).
