이매방 살풀이춤의 ‘여형화(女形化)’에 대한 논의

        김기화 ( Kim Ki-hwa ) 한국무용연구학회 2020 한국무용연구 Vol.38 No.1

When we talk about Lee Mae-bang's Salpul-i chum, we use the expressions ‘beautiful’, ‘exciting’, and ‘congested’. This knowledge was attached because his dance has a feminine attribute. This study discussed that Lee Mae-bang's Salpul-i chum is constructed as Yeohyeonghwa's aquaculture system. First, Lee Mae-bang's Salpul-i chum exhibits gorgeous and cunning character, such as Peking Opera's 'Huā dàn' or Kabuki's 'Keisei'. In dance[chum], ‘Yeohyeonghwa’ can be said to be a form or style in which men dance in the form of women. Lee Mae-bang's dance shows the following characteristics of Yeohyeonghwa. Second, Salpul-i chum's costumes differentiate between men and women, but aim for a highly decorative femininity. Third, Lee Mae-bang's bisexual sexual identity has been stylized into a feminine attitude through aesthetic pursuit. Fourth, Lee Mae-bang Salpul-i chum's technique expresses the processed female body image. In other words, Salpul-i chum expresses the body of a sensual and fascinating woman by 'shrinking' or 'distorting' the body through the dense action of condensed muscles. In this regard, Lee Mae-bang is said to be constructing a male dance or gibangchum as one of the characteristics of Jeonhyeong[original form].

      • Effect of Ag nanowire addition into nanoparticle paste on the conductivity of Ag patterns printed by gravure offset method.

        Ok, Ki-Hun,Lee, Chan-Jae,Kwak, Min-Gi,Choi, Duck-Kyun,Kim, Kwang-Seok,Jung, Seung-Boo,Kim, Jong-Woong American Scientific Publishers 2014 Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Vol.14 No.11

This paper focuses on the effect of Ag nanowire addition into a commercial Ag nanopaste and the printability evaluation of the mixed paste by the gravure offset printing methodology. Ag nanowires were synthesized by a modified polyol method, and a small amount of them was added into a commercial metallic paste based on Ag nanoparticles of 50 nm in diameter. Two annealing temperatures were selected for comparison, and electrical conductivity was measured by four point probe method. As a result, the hybrid mixture could be printed by the gravure offset method for patterning fine lines up to 15 μm width with sharp edges and scarce spreading. The addition of the Ag nanowires was significantly efficient for enhancement of electrical conductivity of the printed lines annealed at a low temperature (150 degrees C), while the effect was somewhat diluted in case of high temperature annealing (200 degrees C). The experimental results were discussed with the conduction mechanism in the printed conductive circuits with a schematic description of the electron flows in the printed lines.

Development of Context-Aware Power Management Scheme Using Beacons

        Lee, Kwang Ok,Lee, Seok Min,Jo, Seonghun,Park, Gyeong Ho,Kim, Se-Jin The Basic Science Institute Chosun University 2018 조선자연과학논문집 Vol.11 No.1

In this paper, we propose a context-aware power management (CPM) scheme using beacons to reduce the power consumption of personal computers (PCs). In the proposed CPM scheme, the PC, smartphone, control server, and Internet of Things (IoT) device are necessary. PC users first log in the control server using their smartphones and select PCs to turn on. Then, the selected PCs automatically go into three different modes, i.e., sleep, shutdown, and standby power off modes, in order when the PC users leave the PCs without turning off them. Further, we develop a testbed with the proposed CPM scheme using the Arduino with Bluetooth low energy (BLE) and relay modules. Finally, it is shown that the proposed CPM scheme outperforms the conventional scheme in terms of the power consumption.

A report of 42 unrecorded actinobacterial species in Korea

        Lee, Na-Young,Cha, Chang-Jun,Im, Wan-Taek,Kim, Seung-Bum,Seong, Chi-Nam,Bae, Jin-Woo,Jahng, Kwang Yeop,Cho, Jang-Cheon,Joh, Kiseong,Jeon, Che Ok,Yi, Hana,Lee, Soon Dong The National Institute of Biological Resources 2018 Journal of species research Vol.7 No.1

During a study to discover indigenous prokaryotic species in Korea in 2016, a total of 42 actinobacterial isolates were recovered from various environmental samples collected from natural cave, squid, sewage, sea water, trees, droppings of birds, freshwater, eelgrass, mud flat, sediment and soil. On the basis of a tight phylogenetic clade with the closest species and high level of 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity, it was shown that each isolate was assigned to independent and previously described bacterial species which were assigned to the phylum Actinobacteria. The following 42 species have not been reported in Korea: eight species in two genera n the order Corynebacteriales, 26 species of 16 genera in the Micrococcales, one species of one genus in the Micromonosporales, one species of one genus in the Propionibacteriales, four species of two genera in the Streptomycetales and two species of two genera in the Streptosporangiale. Cell morphology, Gram staining reaction, colony colors and features, the media and conditions of incubation, physiological and biochemical characteristics, origins of isolation and strain IDs of 42 unrecorded actinobacterial species are presented in the species description.

Cytohistological study of the leaf structures of Panax ginseng Meyer and Panax quinquefolius L.

Ok Ran Lee,Ngoc Quy Nguyen,Kwang Ho Lee,Young Chang Kim,Jiho Seo 고려인삼학회 2017 Journal of Ginseng Research Vol.41 No.4

Background: Both Panax ginseng Meyer and Panax quinquefolius are obligate shade-loving plants whose natural habitats are broadleaved forests of Eastern Asia and North America. Panax species are easily damaged by photoinhibition when they are exposed to high temperatures or insufficient shade. In this study, a cytohistological study of the leaf structures of two of the most well-known Panax species was performed to better understand the physiological processes that limit photosynthesis. Methods: Leaves of ginseng plants grown in soil and hydroponic culture were sectioned for analysis. Leaf structures of both Panax species were observed using a light microscope, scanning electron microscope, and transmission electron microscope. Results: The mesostructure of both P. ginseng and P. quinquefolius frequently had one layer of noncylindrical palisade cells and three or four layers of spongy parenchymal cells. P. quinquefolius contained a similar number of stomata in the abaxial leaf surface but more tightly appressed enlarged grana stacks than P. ginseng contained. The adaxial surface of the epidermis in P. quinquefolius showed cuticle ridges with a pattern similar to that of P. ginseng. Conclusion: The anatomical leaf structure of both P. ginseng and P. quinquefolius shows that they are typical shade-loving sciophytes. Slight differences in chloroplast structure suggests that the two different species can be authenticated using transmission electron microscopy images, and light-resistant cultivar breeding can be performed via controlling photosynthesis efficiency.

Effectiveness of Ventilation Control in a Dry Room with a Heat and Moisture Source

        Lee, Kwan-Soo,Lim, Kwang-Ok,Ahn, Kang-Ho,Jung, Young-Sick The Society of Air-Conditioning and Refrigerating 2001 International Journal of Air-Conditioning and Refr Vol.9 No.4

The temperature and moisture distributions in a dry room with a heat and moisture source -i.e., workers- are studied numerically by using a standard $k-\varepsilon$ turbulence model. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of heat and moisture ventilation inside the room, the heat removal capacity and the moisture exhaust efficiency are introduced. The effectiveness of ventilation control is analyzed by evaluating the temperature and humidity distributions in the room quantitatively. It is found that the mean absolute humidity inside the room is almost constant regardless of the models and the heat generation rates in this study range. This results from the fact that the moisture generation by the workers was relatively small. Through the modification of the design, 40% improvement in critical decay time was achieved.

Familial Mediterranean fever presenting as fever of unknown origin in Korea

Lee, Jun Hee,Kim, Jong Hyun,Shim, Jung Ok,Lee, Kwang Chul,Lee, Joo Won,Lee, Jung Hwa,Chae, Jae Jin The Korean Pediatric Society 2016 Clinical and Experimental Pediatrics (CEP) Vol.59 No.no.sup1

Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) is the most common Mendelian autoinflammatory disease, characterized by uncontrolled activation of the innate immune system that manifests as recurrent brief fever and polyserositis (e.g., peritonitis, pleuritic, and arthritis). FMF is caused by autosomal recessive mutations of the Mediterranean fever gene, MEFV which encodes the pyrin protein. Although FMF predominantly affects people from Mediterranean and Middle Eastern ethnic origins, 3 cases of FMF have been reported in Korea since 2012. We report another case of FMF in Korea in which the patient presented with a month-long fever without serositis. After treatment with colchicine was initiated, the patient's symptoms quickly subsided. The response to colchicine was helpful for diagnosis. We compare the FMF genotypes in Korea with in other countries. Studying FMF cases in Korea will help establish the best MEFV exons to use for screening and diagnosis of Korean FMF.

      • Inhibition of pluripotent stem cell-derived teratoma formation by small molecules

        Lee, Mi-Ok,Moon, Sung Hwan,Jeong, Ho-Chang,Yi, Ji-Yeon,Lee, Tae-Hee,Shim, Sung Han,Rhee, Yong-Hee,Lee, Sang-Hun,Oh, Seok-Jeong,Lee, Moo-Yeol,Han, Min-Joon,Cho, Yee Sook,Chung, Hyung-Min,Kim, Kwang-Soo National Academy of Sciences 2013 PROCEEDINGS OF THE NATIONAL ACADEMY OF SCIENCES OF Vol.110 No.35

The future of safe cell-based therapy rests on overcoming teratoma/tumor formation, in particular when using human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs), such as human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) and human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs). Because the presence of a few remaining undifferentiated hPSCs can cause undesirable teratomas after transplantation, complete removal of these cells with no/minimal damage to differentiated cells is a prerequisite for clinical application of hPSC-based therapy. Having identified a unique hESC signature of pro- and antiapoptotic gene expression profile, we hypothesized that targeting hPSC-specific antiapoptotic factor(s) (i.e., survivin or Bcl10) represents an efficient strategy to selectively eliminate pluripotent cells with teratoma potential. Here we report the successful identification of small molecules that can effectively inhibit these antiapoptotic factors, leading to selective and efficient removal of pluripotent stem cells through apoptotic cell death. In particular, a single treatment of hESC-derived mixed population with chemical inhibitors of survivin (e.g., quercetin or YM155) induced selective and complete cell death of undifferentiated hPSCs. In contrast, differentiated cell types (e.g., dopamine neurons and smooth-muscle cells) derived from hPSCs survived well and maintained their functionality. We found that quercetin-induced selective cell death is caused by mitochondrial accumulation of p53 and is sufficient to prevent teratoma formation after transplantation of hESC- or hiPSC-derived cells. Taken together, these results provide the 'proof of concept' that small-molecule targeting of hPSC-specific antiapoptotic pathway(s) is a viable strategy to prevent tumor formation by selectively eliminating remaining undifferentiated pluripotent cells for safe hPSC-based therapy.
