        The Effects of Two Types of Written Output Tasks on Noticing and Learning of Vocabulary

        The present study examined the effects of two different output tasks on noticing and learning vocabulary. Whereas Swain’s noticing function of output (1995, 1998, 2005) has been studied in the sequence of exposure to input and writing (e.g., Izumi et al., 1999; Izumi & Bigelow, 2000), the present study hypothesized a need for a target word through an initial output production attempt before learners’ exposure to it intensifies the impact of noticing the gap as well as noticing the target word in the following exposure to the input, in comparison to the sequence of input-first and output later task (Hanaoka, 2007; Qi & Lapkin, 2001; Swain, 1998). Sixty-six high school students were divided into three groups: (1) output-input-input-output (output-first group), (2) input-output-inputoutput (input-first group), (3) input-comprehension test-input-comprehension test (input-only group). Target of acquisition was the seven words that described human appearance. Results only partly supported the hypothesis: though more noticing occurred in the output-first group, there was no difference in their productive and receptive vocabulary posttests.

        라디오 제작 방법론을 적용한 실시간 원격수업에 관한 연구: ‘동양 고전 수업’을 중심으로

        본 연구는 동양 고전 수업에 라디오 제작 방법론을 도입한 실시간 원격수업을 진행하여 효과적인 수업 설계 방안을 모색하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 D 대학 교양 필수 교과목인 ‘독서와 토론’ 120명의 수강생을 대상으로 라디오 프로그램 제작 3단계 과정을 적용하여 실시간 원격수업을설계 및 진행하였다. 설문조사 결과 학습자들의 수업 만족도는 전반적으로 높게 나타났다. 방송장르를 대입했을 때 효과적인 동양 고전 수업을 위한 ‘교양’과 ‘오락’의 적절한 비중은 ‘60:40’으로 나타나 일정 부분 흥미가 가미된 동양 고전 수업을 선호하였다. 동양 고전을 기반으로 한 실시간 수업에서 요구되는 교수자의 역할은 ‘상호작용 촉진자’가 가장 높게 나타나, 상호작용 촉진을위한 전략적인 교수 설계 방안이 제시될 필요가 있음을 시사하였다. 이를 통하여 본 연구는 교수설계의 형식과 틀을 새로운 차원으로 시도했다는 점에서 의의가 있다고 하겠다. This study is to seek an effective class design method by conducting a real time remote learning class that has introduced radio production methodology to Eastern classics class. For this, the study applied 3 steps of radio program production process targeting 120 students who attend ‘Reading and Discussion’ course, the mandatory liberal arts course in D University. According to the survey, the class satisfaction of the students were generally high. When applying the broadcast genre, the proper ratio between ‘liberal arts’ and ‘entertainment’ for effective Eastern classics class was ‘60:40’ which indicate preference to Eastern classics class that has partial ‘interesting’ element. The most significant role of teacher that is required to real time class based on Eastern classics class was ‘interaction promoter’. This indicates a need to provide a strategical teaching method for promoting interaction. This study is significant as it led the format and frame of teaching design to the new dimension.

      • Very large suspended graphene as an efficient electron-transparent gate electrode

        <P>Although a focused electron beam is required in field emission-based various applications, the electron beam is generally diverged in a conventional triode because the gate has a circular aperture through which the electrons are accelerated to reach the anode. To prevent the beam divergence, a suspended multi-layer graphene (MLG) was fabricated on a very large gate aperture to be used as an electron-transparent gate in a field emission triode. The suspended MLG was observed to have several micro-openings with an average diameter of similar to 5 mu m formed during a transfer. It was observed that the MLG with micro-openings was likely to act as an efficient transparent gate for electrons even with large number of graphene layers, exhibiting a high transmittance of similar to 90%. The solid angles of the beams obtained using conventional gate aperture and suspended MLG gate were 0.225 and 0.074 sr, respectively, indicating that the suspended MLG resulted in a focused electron beam. Simulations confirm that the suspended MLG with micro-openings suppresses the beam divergence in a given triode configuration because the MLG results in the flattened electric field profiles between gate and cathode whereas a distorted potential distribution causing beam divergence occurs around the aperture in a conventional triode.         실시간 원격수업에서의 독서토론에 관한 연구:‘신호등 토론’을 응용한 방식을 중심으로

        목적 본 연구는 신호등 토론을 응용한 방식을 통하여 실시간 원격수업에서의 효과적인 독서토론 방법을 모색하고자 하였다. 방법 이를 위하여 2020년 2학기 Google Meet로 진행된 D 대학 교양 필수 교과목인 ‘독서와 토론’ 수강생을 대상으로 신호등 토론을 응용한 방식을 적용하였다. 결과 토론 내용을 분석한 결과 ‘비형식적 논증 형태의 활용’, ‘논제 유형에 따른 학생들의 참여 형태 변화’, ‘상대방 주장에 대한 반박 논거 생성의 부족’ 등의 특징이 나타났다. 설문조사 결과에서는 토론 만족도가 전반적으로 높았고, 실시간 원격수업 환경에서의 독서토론은 ‘논리, 주장, 설득, 반론, 근거’보다 ‘공감, 경청, 소통, 이해, 상호작용’이 더 중요한 요소라고 생각하는 것으로 나타났다. 또, 숙의를 구성하는 5가지 요소 중 ‘참여도 및 상호작용성’, ‘다양성’이 가장 중요하다고 응답했고, 숙의는 합의 지향적 관점보다 협력 지향적 관점으로 바라보는 것이 바람직하다고 생각하는 것으로 나타났다. 결론 이를 통하여 실시간 원격수업에서의 효과적인 독서토론을 위한 지향점을 논의하였다. Objectives This study was intended to find effective reading discussion methods in realtime remote learning through the application of traffic light discussion. Methods To this end, this study applied a method of applying traffic signal debate on students of ‘reading and discussion,’ a liberal arts mandatory subject in D University conducted through Google Meet in the second semester of 2020. Results According to the result of analyzing the debate contents, characteristics as ‘utilization of informal argumentative forms,’ ‘changes in the form of students participation according to the topic for discussion,’ and ‘lack of rebuttal argument for other party s argument’ have appeared. The survey results showed that overall satisfaction with the discussion was high, and it was identified that ‘sympathy, listening courteously, communication, understanding, and interaction’ are considered as more important factors than ‘logic, contention, persuasion, counterargument, and basis’ in reading discussion in the realtime remote learning environment. Also, it was identified that ‘degree of participation and interactivity’ and ‘diversity’ are considered most importantly among the 5 elements of deliberation, and it was identified that people consider that it is desirable to view deliberation from a cooperation-oriented perspective than agreement-oriented perspective. Conclusions This study discussed the pointing spot for effective reading discussion in realtime remote learning.

        The Receptive and Productive Knowledge of Collocations: The Effects of Frequency, Exposure, and Phonological Short-term Memory

        The present study examined the receptive and productive knowledge of collocations of second language (L2) and heritage speakers of Korean and also investigated the influence of phrasal frequency, exposure to Korean, and phonological short-term memory (PSTM). Seventeen L2 learners and 14 heritage speakers of Korean were tested on 30 Korean noun-verb collocations, which varied in phrasal frequency, using an acceptability judgment task and a collocation completion test. The results showed that both L2 and heritage speakers demonstrated considerable receptive knowledge of Korean collocations while productive knowledge was more limited for both groups. The mixed-effects modelling results of four independent variables of interest (i.e., phrasal frequency, exposure via media, academic use, and PSTM) showed that phrasal frequency was the only significant predictor of receptive knowledge of collocations for both L2 and heritage speakers; none of the four factors had a significant impact on productive knowledge of collocations for either group. These data are discussed in relation to previous studies on collocation development of L2 learners and heritage speakers.

        This study aims to diagnose actual conditions of house repair support projects in Urban Regeneration New Deal and to present policy implications including improvement measures. For this, the study focused on house repair support projects implemented in Urban Regeneration New Deal Area of Anyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, analyzing housing repair support criteria, implementation systems, and budget execution types, and assessing whether the results of house support projects were equivalent to the government-set purpose. As a result, the current status of housing maintenance and management was insufficient due to high proportion of old houses and old ages of owners. In addition, house repair support projects did not contribute sufficiently to urban landscape because they focused more on building performance of old houses.

        파종 대상포진의 역학 및 임상양상

        Background: There have been several studies about herpes zoster in the Korean dermatological literatures. However, there are few studies reported on disseminated herpes zoster. Objective: The aim of this study is to determine the epidemiology and clinical features of the disseminated herpes zoster as compared with herpes zoster. Methods: The authors retrospectively reviewed the medical records on 14 cases of disseminated herpes zoster and 402 cases of herpes zoster at the Department of Dermatology Busan Paik hospital during the 3 years from 2010 to 2012, and if necessary, telephone interviews were executed. Results: The rate of new disseminated herpes zoster outpatients at our dermatology clinic was 0.11% with the mean age of 67.7 years and the males to females ratio was 2.5. The most frequent involved dermatome was the lumbar (42.9%) area. The rate of patients with underlying diseases or immunosuppression, the rates of postherpetic neuralgia and the frequency of narcotic analgesics uses were significantly higher in disseminated herpes zoster as compared with herpes zoster. The patient treatment satisfaction was significantly higher in herpes zoster as compared with disseminated herpes zoster. Conclusion: These results demonstrated that the disseminated herpes zoster is associated with higher rates of underlying diseases, immunosuppression, frequent incidences of postherpetic neuralgia, more uses of narcotic analgesics and lower patient treatment satisfactions as compared with herpes zoster.         Evaluation of the Efficacy, Safety, and Treatment-Related Skin Irritation of Adapalene-Benzoyl Peroxide Combination Gel and Adapalene Gel in Acne Patients: A Randomized Comparative Study

        Background: While adapalene and benzoyl peroxide have both been demonstrated to be effective for the treatment of acne vulgaris, they can also cause skin irritation, resulting in patient incompliance. In addition, the irritation may be severe when adapalene is co-administered with benzoyl peroxide. Objective: The intention of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of adapalene 0.1%-benzoyl peroxide 2.5% fixed-dose combination gel, and adapalene 0.1% gel monotherapy, for the treatment of mild to moderate acne. Any changes in the skin barrier function were also measured. Methods: A total of 52 patients applied adapalene-benzoyl peroxide gel or adapalene gel once daily. The changes in lesion counts, investigator.s global assessment, patient satisfaction, and adverse events were recorded for 6 weeks. The biophysical profiles of the skin, including transepidermal water loss and redness, were measured for 3 weeks. Results: Both agents were effective for the treatment of acne lesions. Adapalene-benzoyl peroxide showed a faster onset of action than adapalene, especially on inflammatory lesions. However, at week 6, both agents showed a similar effect in reducing lesion counts. While most patients in both groups experienced skin irritation from week 1, this gradually reduced. Likewise, the changes in transepidermal water loss and redness showed peak rates at week 1 and 2, but decreased over time. Conclusion: Adapalene-benzoyl peroxide gel is effective for the treatment of acne with a safety profile comparable to adapalene gel. The skin irritation experienced may be associated with the changes in skin barrier disruption, which lasts for 1.2 weeks.

        The New Direction of the Port Environmental Management Policy Based on the Air Pollution Status in the Port Hinterland - Focusing on the Concentrations of Ambient Coarse Particulate Matter (PM10) in the Hinterland of Busan New Port (Changwon) -

        본 연구는 항만의 개발과 운영으로 야기될 수 있는 대기 환경오염 및 배후지역의 피해 가능성에 주목하고, 이를 객관적⋅과학적 조사를 통해 살펴보는 데 궁극적인 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 부산과 창원(경남)에 걸쳐 운영 중인 국내 최대 무역항인 부산항 신항(창원)의 배후지역을 연구 대상으로 선정하였다. 환경실태 조사는 부산항 신항 배후지역의 미세먼지(PM10) 농도에 대한 2차례에 걸쳐 2개 지점을 대상으로 한 현장실험과 미세먼지 영향 수준 조사로 이뤄졌다. 미세먼지의 측정 결과, 부산항 신항(창원) 배후지역의 미세먼지 농도는 지점별로 상이하게 나타났다. 항만구역 내 신항로 도로변 공업지역의 경우 대기 환경기준(PM10 100㎍/㎥)을 초과하고 있었으며, 주거지역 역시 대기 환경기준을 넘지는 않으나 녹산동이나 경화동과 같은 주변 지역들보다는 높은 농도를 나타내고 있 었다. 항만 배후지역의 대기환경 질 개선 및 관리를 위해서는 환경 기술적 조치뿐만 아니라 해운⋅ 항만⋅물류업체 등 민간부문 및 지자체와의 협력이 요구된다. 또한, 이들의 참여와 실효성 있는 정책 이행을 위한 법제도적 기반이 확립되어야 할 것이다. The ultimate purpose of this study is to explore the possibility of air pollution and damage to the hinterland that may be caused by the development and operation of the port, and to examine it by using especially analysis and optimization methods. The Busan New Port which is the largest trading port in Korea operating across Busan and Changwon (Gyeongnam) have been undertaken. Two field experiments on the concentration of coarse particulate matter (PM10, Hereafter PM10) and the level of influence of PM10 were investigated at two sites in the industrial and residential areas behind Busan New Port (Changwon). As the results, the concentration of PM10 was different for each site. In particularly, the actual air quality was exceeded the standard set as PM10 100㎍/㎥ for the case of the industrial area within the port area. Beside that, the observated values at the residential area did not exceed the standard, but were higher than other areas’s such as Noksan-dong and Gyeonghwa-dong. In order to effectively manage air pollution in the hinterland of ports, not only environmental and technical measures, but also cooperation with the private sector and local governments should be take into account.
