        The China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) is a high-power, accelerator-based project currently under preparation. The accelerator complex consists of an H$^-$ ion source, an H$^-$ linac, a rapid-cycling proton synchrotron, and the transport lines. During the past year, the design of most accelerator systems went through major iterations, and initial research and developments was started on the prototyping of several key components.

        An Investigation of Mild Steel with Nitrogen-containing Inhibitor in Hydrochloric Acid

        Pickling inhibitors can be used to form an adsorbed layer on the metal surface to hinder the discharge of H^+ and dissolution of metal ions. Nitrogen-containing inhibitors were selected as corrosion inhibitors for mild steel (MS) in pickling acid process. In this study, the addition of inhibitor, the pickling temperatures and the pickling times were the parameters to investigate the effects on the inhibition eficiency (IE) for MS by using weight loss measurement. Preliminary results show that the IE increased with the increase in pickling time from 10 minutes to 60 minutes, and the IE also increased with the increase in temperature at room temperature and 40℃. At the higher temperature, the IE values are higher and almost independent with the pickling time. Furthermore, the potentiodynamic polarization, open circuit corrosion potential-time and corrosion current-time studies show that nitorgen-containing inhibitor behaves predominantly as cathodic polarization. The roughness test and SEM investigation are also studied in this papcr.

        Various levels of copra meal supplementation with β-Mannanase on growth performance, blood profile, nutrient digestibility, pork quality and economical analysis in growing-finishing pigs

        Background: To reduce use of main feed ingredient like corn, soy bean meal (SBM) and wheat, alternative ingredients has been studied like copra meal (CM). Production amount of CM which has been high makes CM to be an alternative feed stuff. However, low digestibility on AA and low energy content by high fiber content can be an obstacle for using CM. This experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of CM supplementation with β-mannanase on growth performance, blood profile, nutrient digestibility, pork quality and economic analysis in growing-finishing pigs. Methods: A total of 100 growing pigs ([Yorkshire × Landrace] × Duroc) averaging 31.22 ± 2.04 kg body weight were allotted to 5 different treatments by weight and sex in a randomized complete block (RCB) design in 5 replicate with 4 pigs per pen. Treatments were 1) Control (corn-SBM based diet + 0.1% of β-mannanase (800 IU)), 2) CM10 (10% copra meal + 0.1% β-mannanase (800 IU)), 3) CM15 (15% copra meal + 0.1% β-mannanase (800 IU)), 4) CM20 (20% copra meal + 0.1% β-mannanase (800 IU)) and 5) CM25 (25% copra meal + 0.1% β-mannanase (800 IU)). Four phase feeding program was used: growing I (week 1-3), growing II (week 4-6), finishing I (week 7-9) and finishing II (week 10-12). Results: In growth performance, there was no significant difference among treatments during whole experimental period. In growingI phase, G:F ratio tended to increase when CM was increased (P = 0.05), but ADG and ADFI tended to decrease in finishingII phase (linear, P = 0.08). Also, increasing CM reduced ADG (linear, P = 0.02) and feed efficiency (linear, P = 0.08) during the whole finishing period. In blood profiles, BUN was linearly increased as CM increased (linear, P = 0.02) at growingII period. In digestibility trial, there was no significant difference in dry matter, crude fat, crude ash and nitrogen digestibility. However, crude protein digestibility was decreased linearly (linear, P = 0.02). In economic analysis, feed cost per weight gain and total feed cost per pig were reduced in overall period when CM was provided by 25% (linear, P = 0.02). Conclusion: CM with 0.1% of β-mannanase (800 IU) could be supplemented instead of corn and SBM up to 25% without detrimental effects on growth performance and pork quality of growing-finishing pigs.

        Processing optimization, surface properties and wear behavior of HVOF spraying WC–CrC–Ni coating

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>In this work, the optimal coating process (OCP) designed by Taguchi program for high velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) thermal spraying WC–CrC–Ni powder on Inconel 718 substrate (IN 718) is obtained by optimizing hardness (38 FMR oxygen flow rate, 53 FMR hydrogen flow rate, 25g/min powder feed rate and 7in. spray distance). Oxygen flow rate affects hardness mostly. The surface properties such as microstructure, crystalline phase, hardness, and porosity of WC–CrC–Ni coating have been investigated. The phase of coating has been changed during the OCP spraying because a portion of carbides, such as WC, Cr<SUB>7</SUB>C<SUB>3</SUB>, Ni<SUB>3</SUB>C decomposes to W<SUB>2</SUB>C, Cr, Ni and free carbon. Hardness (1150±50Hv) and porosity (1.2±0.2%) of the OCP coating have been improved by optimization. The friction and wear behaviors of the WC–CrC–Ni coating, electrolytic hard chrome (EHC) plating and IN 718 have been studied comparatively. The lubrication due to free carbon and metal oxide debris results in a decrease of friction coefficients of the WC–CrC–Ni, compared to EHC and IN 718 at both 25 and 450°C. It is concluded that HVOF WC–CrC–Ni coating performs more excellent anti-wear than others at both temperatures.</P>

        Antimicrobial activity of eight root canal sealers before and after setting

        항균 활성도는 Root canal sealer가 갖추어야 할 필수요소 중 하나이다. 본 연구는 최근 임상술식에 사용되고 있는 8종의 root canal sealer의 근관내 혐기성 세균에 대한 항균효과를 알아보기 위해 시행되었다. 또한 본 연구에서는 혼합 직후의 경화되지 않은 sealer와 경화 7일 후 selaer의 항균효과도 비교하였다. 항균효과 측정을 위해 사용된 균주는 최근 실패한 근관치료 증례에서 배양되어 보고된 바 있는 Enterococcus faecalis와 근관내 주요 감염균인 그램음성 혐기성 세균은 Staphylococcus aureus를 대상으로 하였고, Agar diffusion test 방법을 사용하였다. 실험방법으로는 2개의 paper disk에 신선하게 혼합한 각각의 sealer를 도포하여 한개의 disk는 즉시 실험에 사용하고 다른 한개의 disk는 일주일간 혐기성 배양이게에서 경화시킨다음 사용한다. 각각의 균주를 Brucellar blood agar plate에 접종한 다음, sealer가 도포된 paper disk를 plate상에 올려놓는다. 대조군으로는 식염수에 침윤시킨 disc를 같은 방법으로 각 실험단계에 사용한다. 각 plate를 혐기성 배양기에서 48시간동안 배양한 뒤, 실험에 사용한 sealer의 항균효과를 6mm paper disk를 둘러싼 inhibition zone을 측정하여 평가한다. Fisher's PLSD 분석방법 결과 E.faecalis 에 대하여 경화 전과 후의 AH26 모두 경화 전과 후의 Roth 801, Dentalis, Apexit, AH Plus, RSA 그리고 경화 후의 MCS보다 유의성있게강한 항균효과를 나타내는 것으로 보고되었으며, 경화 후의 AH26은 경화 전의 AH26, 경화 전의 Ketac Endo, 경화 전의 MCS보다 통계학적으로 유의성이 있는 항균작용을 하는 것이 관찰되었다 (p<0.05). 경화 후 Roth 801, 경화전과 후의 Dentalis, AH plus, Apexit, RSA는 E.faecalis에 대한 항균효과를 나타내지 못하였다. S.aureus에 대하여 경화후의 AH26이 경화 전과 후의 Roth 801, Apexit, AH Plus, RSA보다 유의성있는 항균효과를 보이는 것을 발견할 수 있었고, 경화 전의 AH 26이 경화 AH plus보다 나은 항균효과를 나타냄을 알 수 있었다. 또, 경화 전과 후의 Apexit, 경화 후의 AH Plus, 경화 전과 후의 RSA에서는 S.aureus 에 대한 항균작용이 발견되지 않았다. 본 실험의 결과 AH26이 가장 강한 항균 작용을 갖는 것을 알 수 있었으며, 각 sealer의 경화 전과 후의 항균효과는 AH26이 경화전보다 경화 후에서 더 강한 항균효과를 나타내는 것 이외에는 효과의 차이가 없었다.

      • Shear Stress and Dielectric Characteristics of Polyaniline/TiO<sub>2</sub> Composite‐Based Electrorheological Fluid

        <P>Adopting both conducting polyaniline (PANI) and organic titanium dioxide (TiO<SUB>2</SUB>), which possesses a high dielectric constant, we synthesized PANI/TiO<SUB>2</SUB> hybrids via <I>in situ</I> oxidative polymerization to prepare an electrorheological (ER) materials. These were then characterized via thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The ER responses and dielectric properties of the synthesized hybrids dispersed in silicone oil were measured as a function of different particle fractions of TiO<SUB>2</SUB> under an applied electric field. Series of analyses revealed that composite composition (the ratio of TiO<SUB>2</SUB> to PANI) plays a crucial role in affecting the ER performance, which exhibited interesting behaviors when the ratio of TiO<SUB>2</SUB> to PANI approaches a critical value. Interestingly, we found that our proposed constitutive equation fit the shear stress in the low shear rate region better than the Bingham fluid model. The dielectric spectra of the ER fluid, along with polarizability, were found to explain the flow behaviors of the PANI/TiO<SUB>2</SUB> under applied electric fields.</P>

      • VDJ Gene Usage of B Cell Receptors in Peripheral Blood of ABO-incompatible Kidney Transplantation Patients

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P><B>Introduction</B></P> <P>B cell subtypes and immunoglobulin variable (V), diversity (D), joining (J) gene segment usage of B cell receptors in ABO-incompatible (ABOi) kidney transplantation (KT) in comparison to ABO-compatible KT have not been studied. The aims of this study were to analyze the VDJ gene segment usages of B cell receptors in peripheral blood of ABOi KT recipients.</P> <P><B>Methods</B></P> <P>Eighteen ABOi KT patients with accommodation (ABOiA), 10 ABO-compatible stable KT patients (ABOcS), and 10 ABOi KT patients with biopsy-proven acute antibody-mediated rejection (ABOiR) at day 10 after transplantation were selected. Complete transcriptomes of their peripheral blood samples were sequenced and analyzed through RNA sequencing.</P> <P><B>Results</B></P> <P>By family, immunoglobulin heavy chain variable 3 (IGHV3), immunoglobulin light kappa chain variable 1 (IGKV1), immunoglobulin light lambda chain variable 2 (IGLV2), and immunoglobulin light lambda chain joining 3 (IGLJ3) gene segments were most frequently used in all groups, and their usage was not statistically different among the three groups except for IGHV3 and IGKV1. IGKV1 was more frequently used in the ABOiA group than in the ABOcS group. According to individual gene segments, IGHV3-7, IGHV3-15, IGHV4-59, IGKV3-11, IGLV1-44, IGLV2-14, IGLV4-69, and IGLV7-46 were more frequently used in the ABOcS group than other groups, and IGKV3-7 was more frequently used in the ABOiR group than other groups. IGLV5-52 and IGLV7-43 were more frequently used in the ABOiA group than in ABOcS group.</P> <P><B>Conclusions</B></P> <P>Our findings suggest that RNA sequencing transcriptomic analyses of peripheral blood can provide information on the VDJ gene usage of B cell receptors and the mechanisms of accommodation and immune reaction in ABOi KT.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Variable (V), diversity (D), and joining (J) gene usage of B cell receptors in kidney transplantation was analyzed by RNA sequencing. </LI> <LI> Several VDJ gene usages were different between ABO incompatible and compatible kidney transplants. </LI> <LI> VDJ gene usage was affected by accommodation or antibody-mediated rejection status. </LI> </UL> </P>
