숭실의 문학적 흔적은 초기 한국 현대문학사의 근간과 맞먹는 화려한 것이었다. 지난날 숭실의 문학은 고전이 되어버렸지만 당대로서는 최전방의 문학 행위였음은 다시 말할 필요가 없을 터이다. 이 글은 80년 이후 숭실 출신 시인들의 시문학을 살펴보았다. 강형철, 이은봉, 박남희, 정우영, 신종호, 박남희, 원구식, 우대식, 김선아 등의 시인이 활발한 활동을 하고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 창작의 현장에서 생각해 볼 다른 문제는 이것만으로는 너무 왜소하다는 것이다. 더구나 앞에 언급한 시인들 이후에는 그 맥락이 거의 끊어졌다는데 심각한 문제가 있다. 그나마 문창과의 김선아 시인이 『현대문학』으로 등단하여 실같은 맥락을 이어가고 있음은 다행이라 생각한다. 더 많은 후배들이 시의 현장으로 나오기를 간절히 바라는 마음이다. 외적인 문제로는 김현승 문학상 제정이 현안의 과제라고 본다. 빨리 이루어져 창작의 활성화가 이루어지기를 바라는 마음이다. 본교는 국문과와 문창과를 동시에 운영하고 있는 서울에서 몇 안 되는 대학이다. 우수한 입지적 조건이 현장으로 자연스럽게 이어질 수 있는 분위기를 만들어내는 것은 오늘날 대학 현장에 계신 선생님들과 숭실의 이름으로 활동을 하는 문인들에 공통으로 주어진 과제라고 할 수 있다. 숭실의 인문과 문학의 전통에 르네상스가 일어나기를 간절히 바라는 마음이다. The fruits the Soongsil literary circle bore were as good as those of the early stage of the history of modern Korean literature. Needless to add, the Soongsil literary circle, whose works count among the classics now, was at the forefront in those days. Not only has this writing dealt with the literary pieces of the poets the Soongsil circle has produced since the 1980's, but it has also found the poets actively wielding the pen: Kang Heong Cheol, Yi Eun Bong, Pak Nam Hui, Won Ku-sik, Jeong Woo Yeong, Shin Jong Ho, Woo Dae Sik, Kim Seon A, etc. In the field of creative literature, nevertheless, it is difficult to say that will suffice. The problem is that the successive literary mother lode still has not been found since such poets. Fortunately Kim Seon A, who was chosen as prizewinner by Contemporary Literature, is mining her way for a vein of literature. Many successors are required to join in the mining, shouldering their pens. Another challenge to settle is to establish a literary award in honor of Kim Heon Seung without delay and revitalize creative literature. Soongsil University is one of the few universities in Seoul with a course of Korean literature and creative writing alike. For such a favorable geographical situation to lead to creating a natural atmosphere, the staff of Sungsil unversity should collaborate, the writers from Sungsil university included. It is hoped that the period will soon come when the literary tradition of Sungsil University is resurrected.
Primary syphilis caused by Treponema pallidum usually develops after sexual contact as a solitary sclerosis or hard chancre initially in the genital region. Extragenital primary syphilis can rarely occurs in lips, tongue, palate, neck, breast, finger and thigh. Howerver, the cases were gradually increasing due to varied sexual behaviors. We describe a case of primary syphilis showing multiple chancre on genital and extragenital regions in a homosexual man. A 53-year-old HIV+ man presented with 3 or 43 weeks history of multiple painful ulcerative lesions on genital and extragenital areas. Physical examination revealed multiple erythematous round indurated ulcer on the glans penis, penile shaft and scrotum with no palpable lymph nodes in both inguinal area. In addition, painful ulceration on the angle of mouth and mucosa of upper lip. There were not any other skin lesions or systemic symptoms. In personal history taking, he was homosexual. A serologic tests for syphilis revealed a positive rapid plasma regain test result (titer 1:128) and positive Treponema pallidum particle agglutination assay. Histopathologic examination of genital and oral lesions showed infiltration of plasma cell-dominant inflammatory cells on upper dermis that was compatible with syphilis. Standard treatment with a single intramuscular injection of benzathine penicillin G resulted in rapid pain relief and complete resolution of the chancre over a 4-week period.
Monochamus alternatus is one of the insect vector of pine wilt disease with Monochamus saltuarius. The present study aimed to investigate the dose to induce sterile and the effect of sterility according to the gender of M. alternatus. As the electron beam irradiation dose increased, the longevity of the mid and late maturation feeding stage of adults was slightly reduced. However, there was no difference between these two adults. In addition, female adults were more sensitive to the electron beam than the male adults. Hatchability of the F1 generation of ♂T×♀N or ♀T×♂N (T: 200 Gy electron beam irradiation, N: 0 Gy) was completely suppressed. As electron beam irradiation dose increased, the fecundity of female adults were slightly decreased. Results by comet assay showed that electron beam irradiation induced as dose increased DNA damage in M. alternatus adults. These results suggest that SIT using electron beam may be useful for control of M. alternatus.
We analyzed a periodic thick mushroom structure for use as an artificial magnetic conductor using mode-matching method. The fields in each region were represented by either Floquet modes or waveguide modes. By applying tangential electric and magnetic field continuity conditions and using matrix equations, unknown coefficients and dispersion diagram were calculated. The proposed model can account for the effects of oblique incidence. Simulation time using the method was much faster than the commercial tools. We found that the current method produces accurate results of reflection phase and dispersion diagram.
Aquagenic wrinkling of the palm (AWP) is a rare, not well-known dermatosis characterized by rapid and transient edematous whitish papules and plaques on palms after a brief exposure to water. AWP mainly occurs in Caucasian adolescent women and is rare in Asian population. Till now, only one case of AWP in Korean with unusual presentation on the dorsum of finger. Herein, we report the second Korean case of AWP showing typical presentations. A 23-year-old Korean man presented with wrinkled, whitish plaques on both palms for 2 months. On physical examination, whitish discoloration and intense edematous wrinkling appeared on his palms within 3 minutes after water immersion. This condition was transient and almost completely resolved within 25 minutes after drying of his palms. At the onset of this phenomenon, dullness and mild hyperhidrosis were present on his palms. He had no relevant family or past history of systemic diseases such as cystic fibrosis. He was not taking a regular medication. Laboratory and radiologic examination results revealed non-specific findings. Histopathologic findings of the lesional skin revealed orthokeratotic hyperkeratosis and mild acanthosis, but there were no significant differences compared to the unaffected skin. He was treated with topical 20% aluminum hydrochloride, and his condition was improved as the frequency and severity of symptoms decreased after exposure to water.
Syringomas are common benign eccrine sweat gland tumors encountered mostly around the eyes and upper cheeks, of which eruptive syringomas are rare variant. Eruptive syringomas are histologically identical to syringomas of the eyelis, but appear suddenly assuccessive crops of asymptomatic, yellow to brown, small firm papules on the chest, neck, axilla, and periumbilical region in prepubescent children or young adult. The lesions are usually present in a symmetrical distribution. Although eruptive syringomas can involve the axilla, it is very rare for them to be limited to this region only. Herein, we report a case of eruptive syringoma localized to the axilla. A 14-year-old man presented with 1 years history of asymptomatic localized numerous erythematous papules. His medical history was unremarkable. Physical examination revealed numerous 1 to 2 mm sized brown firm papules on both axillae. Histological examination revealed epithelial strands, cystic spaces dispersed in a fibrous stroma in the dermis. The cystic spaces were lined by two layers of flattened cuboidal cells and some of the cysts had small comma-like tails, resembling tadpoles. He was diagnosed with eruptive syringoma, and followed without any treatment.
