The purpose of this study is to provide some basic data which can be helpful for improving the methods of mathematics teaching-learning emphasizing the affective factors by investigating the effect on affective characteristics and mathematical problem solving ability of the students on the elementary school sixth grade. In order to achieve these purpose, the following research problems were set up for the present study: The results of this study are as follows: First, it was appeared that there was not any difference on attitude on mathematics, belief, self-confidence and the degree of mathematical problem solving ability by sex. Second, it was appeared that there was some statistical meaningful difference on attitude on mathematics, belief, self-confidence and the degree of mathematical problem solving ability according to high middle low ability on mathematics which the students think that they have. Based on the results of this study, I'd like to give some suggestions as followings to provide some help to teaching and learning mathematics. First, the succeeding studies are needed by selecting different population from the population of this study, classifying low-ranking factors consisting of affective characteristics differently from this study, compounding each low-ranking factors in various manners like using new items, etc. Second, the succeeding studies are needed in this part, because what mathematical belief teachers have mathematics can have an effect on students' mathematical belief and action as well as on teachers' thinking process and action in the class. Third, the succeeding studies are needed to develop concrete field study and program which can be helpful for improving actually students' affective behavior characteristics in school field.
A Case of End-On Colostomy in a Dog Suffering from Dyschezia

A 12-year-old Shetland sheepdog with dyschezia was presented to the clinic. Dyschezia was considered to have been caused by rectal stricture due to a perianal mass containing the distal colon, rectum, and anus. Considering the his- tological findings and gross appearance of the perianal mass, an aggressive form of adenocarcinoma was diagnosed and a poor prognosis was expected. An end- on colostomy was successfully performed to improve quality of life, which had been decreased by the dyschezia. Postoperative fecal evacuation was well-man- aged by the owner using a disposable colostomy bag in addition to a previously reported flange and drainable pouch. The dog survived for three months and had a satisfactory quality of life. Surgery and postoperative management in such cases will be helpful in the treatment of defecation disorders in animals.

Rice is an important model species and one of the most staple crops of the world. The use of rice appropriate promoters suitable for a specific target transgene is important for the control of spatial and temporal transgene expression. To isolate rice tissue-specific promoters, we exploited the potential of whole genome microarrays in 17 stages: callus, germinating seed, leaf, root, the size of the panicles before heading (1, 3, 5, 8, 10, 15, 20, and 22 cm), and the number of days after pollination (1, 3, 5, 11, 21 DAP) using a 300 K Rice Genome Microarray, covering 31,439 genes of the rice. Eight candidate genes for tissue-specific expression were selected in various organs and stage of reproductive development in rice: Histone H4 for constitutive expression, Dehydrin DHN1 for callus-specific expression, germinating seed-specific hypothetical protein, root-specific hypothetical protein, DNA topoisomerase and Retinoblastoma for expression at panicles before heading, heading-specific profiling, and invertase for expression at seed after pollination. Promoter regions of the selected genes were isolated and fused to the β-glucoronidase (GUS) reporter gene, and the constructs were introduced into rice plants. These promoters are highly active in the tissue-specific manner of rice and can be useful for the spatial and temporal enhancement of target gene(s).
산지토사재해 발생 예측을 위한 토양우량지수 적용가능성 검토

강우인자는 산사태와 같은 산지토사재해를 예측하기 위해서는 중요한 인자가 되며, 경보시스템 개발에도 필수적인 요소가 된다. 강우강도로 계산된 토양우량지수는 산사태나 토석류와 같은 산지토사재해의 경보시스템에 적용될 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 산지에서 토사재해발생을 예측하기 위하여 탱크모델을 이용한 토양우량지수를 도입하여 그 적용가능성을 검토하였다. 2001년에서 2009년 사이에 충북 제천시 일대의 강우자료를 조사하여 탱크모델에 적용하여 각 탱크에서의 저류량을 계산하여 토양우량지수를 결정하였다. 세 개의 탱크 중에서 두 번째 탱크에서의 저류량 (S2)과 전체 탱크에서의 저류량 (TS)을 이용하여 상위에 랭크된 이력순위를 분석한 결과, S2에서는 산사태가 발생한 2009년 이력이 3번째 높은 수준으로 기록되며, 산사태 미발생의 2007년 강우는 5번째로 기록되었다. 그리고 TS의 경우 2009년 강우가 2002년에 이어 3번째 높은 수준으로 기록되었으며, 2007년 강우는 9번째로 기록되었다. 이러한 결과를 볼 때 토양우량지수의 이력순위는 산지토사재해의 발생을 잘 반영하는 것으로 나타났으며, 향후 경보시스템에의 적용가능성이 높다고 판단되었다. The rainfall factor is an important subject for a better understanding of landslide activity and is essential for developing warning system. The soil water index has been identified as one of the essential variable in sediment disaster such landslide and debis flow warning system. In this paper, we conducted the verifying of the soil water index, which was used for predicting the triggering time of sediment disaster in mountainous area. We investigated the adeption possibility of tank model for validation of soil water index. We calculated storage amount rainfall by tank model with rainfall data obtained from 2001 to 2009 in Jecheon Area. Using the tank model, the storage amounts in three tanks were calculated in time series and the second tank storage amount (S2) and total storage amount (TS) were applied in verifying. The high ranked S2 and TS showed good matching for the debris flow occurrence. These results show the possibility of prediction tool for the landslide occurring.

문제: 최근 몇 년간, 환자 및 보호자들이 의료와 관련된 전문기관을 대상으로, 민원발생이 급, 상승되고 있음이 통계상 확인되고 있다. 목적: 최근 몇 년간, 환자 및 보호자들이 의료와 관련된 전문기관을 대상으로, 민원발생이 급, 상승되고 있음이 통계상 확인되고 있다. 의료기관: 서울에 소재한 2,200병상의 전문종합요양기관 소속 보험 심사 팀 질 향상 활동: 상담 Data base 구축을 위한 전산개발 및 핵심 문제 부분에 대한 직무프로세스 변경, 보완 및 수정 활동결과: 진료비 사례 환자 상담건수는 2003년 기준 75.4%의 증가율을 보였으며, 본원의 민원검수는 전년대비 9%의 감소효과가 확인되었다.

Pre-mRNA splicing further increases protein diversity acquired through evolution. The underlying driving forces for this phenomenon are unknown, especially in terms of gene expression. A rice alternatively spliced transcript detection microarray (ASDM) and RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq) were applied to differentiate the transcriptome of 4 representative organs of Oryza sativa L. cv. Ilmi: leaves, roots, 1-cm-stage panicles and young seeds at 21 days after pollination. Comparison of data obtained by microarray and RNA-Seq showed a bell-shaped distribution and a co-lineation for highly expressed genes. Transcripts were classified according to the degree of organ enrichment using a coefficient value (CV, the ratio of the standard deviation to the mean values): highly variable (CVI), variable (CVII), and constitutive (CVIII) groups. A higher index of the portion of loci with alternatively spliced transcripts in a group (IAST) value was observed for the constitutive group. Genes of the highly variable group showed the characteristics of the examined organs, and alternatively spliced transcripts tended to exhibit the same organ specificity or less organ preferences, with avoidance of 'organ distinctness'. In addition, within a locus, a tendency of higher expression was found for transcripts with a longer coding sequence (CDS), and a spliced intron was the most commonly found type of alternative splicing for an extended CDS. Thus, pre-mRNA splicing might have evolved to retain maximum functionality in terms of organ preference and multiplicity.

<P><B>Background</B></P><P>The heterogeneity of histological findings in preclinical diet-induced nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) animal models is highly challenging. Here, we aimed to evaluate the feasibility and stability of repeated liver biopsy in NAFLD animal models.</P><P><B>Methods</B></P><P>Heterogeneity of diet-induced NAFLD was evaluated at different time points in 52 high-fat diet (HFD), 35 methionine choline-deficiency diet (MCD), and 166 western diet (WD) induced NAFLD mice. Serial liver biopsies (left lateral, right medial, and left medial lobes) were performed monthly for up to 3 months. Mortality rates and changes in food intake, body weight, and liver enzymes were assessed.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>At 12 weeks, of the HFD animals, 14% and 30% did not develop steatosis and lobular inflammation, respectively; of the MCD animals, 7% did not develop lobular inflammation; and of the WD animals, 14% and 51% did not develop steatosis and lobular inflammation, respectively. The mortality rate of repeated liver biopsy was 1.62% (2/123 mice died). Repeated liver biopsy can be used to trace disease progression. Although body weight, food intake, and liver enzymes slightly changed after biopsy, all recovered within a week. Repeated liver biopsy did not affect the degrees of inflammation and steatosis of the other liver lobes.</P><P><B>Conclusion</B></P><P>The diet-induced NAFLD models were quite heterogeneous. Our results suggest that the repeated liver biopsy before treatment was applicable and stable in this NAFLD animal study.</P>
