종교와 평화 : 원불교의 비폭력성

모든 종교는 비폭력과 평화를 추구한다. 경전에서 폭력과 전쟁을 부추기는 종교는 없다. 그러나 현실에서 평화를 비폭력 평화적으로 추구하는 종교는 많지 않다. 『원불교 교서』에서 비폭력과 평화를 강조하는 대목을 크게 다섯 가지로 나누어 살펴본다. 첫째, 거의 모든 종교가 ‘살생하지 말라’는 계명을 공유하듯, 『원불교 교서』에서도 구체적 사례를 통해 살생을 반대한다. 둘째, 다른 종교와 달리 차별금지를 명시한다. “과거 불합리한 차별 제도의 조목”으로 반상, 적서, 노소, 남녀, 종족의 차별 등 5가지를 들고 있다. 셋째, 자유를 억압하지 말라고 한다. 물고기와 새 그리고 꽃나무까지 자유롭게 놔두라고 권유한다. 넷째, 원수를 사랑으로 감화하며 폭력에 비폭력적으로 대응하라고 가르친다. 다섯째, 1945년 해방 이후 정부 수립 과정에서 강대국 사이에서 어느 한쪽에 치우치지 말고 폭력을 예방할 것을 강조한다. 『원불교 교서』에 나타난 비폭력성을 공부하면서 원불교는 목표뿐만 아니라 과정에서도 비폭력과 평화를 중시한다는 사실을 발견했다. 원불교는 언행일치 또는 지행합일의 종교라고 높이 평가하고 싶다. All religions seek non-violence and peace. No religion encourages violence and war in its bible. In the reality, however, not many religions seek peace by nonviolent and peaceful means. Writings emphasizing nonviolence and peace in the Won-Buddhist scriptures may be classified into five categories. First, as almost all religions have a commandment to prohibit killing living things, the scriptures also prohibit such killings through several examples. Second, the scriptures clarify irreasonable discriminations from the past, and command not to discriminate against the lower classes, children of concubines, the young, women, and other races. Third, the scriptures recommend to leave living things free. Fourth, the scriptures instruct to love enemies and to react nonviolently against violence. Fifth, the scriptures emphasize preventing violence between great powers in the precess of establishing a new government after the Korean liberation. Studying non-violent characteristics of Won -Buddhism in its scriptures, I realized that this religion attaches importance to non-violence and peace in the process of achieving peace. Won-Buddhism is a religion of acting up to its words.

Association of a missense mutation in the positional candidate gene glutamate receptor-interacting protein 1 with backfat thickness traits in pigs

Objective: Previously, we reported quantitative trait loci (QTLs) affecting backfat thickness (BFT) traits on pig chromosome 5 (SW1482–SW963) in an F2 intercross population between Landrace and Korean native pigs. The aim of this study was to evaluate glutamate receptor-interacting protein 1 (GRIP1) as a positional candidate gene underlying the QTL affecting BFT traits. Methods: Genotype and phenotype analyses were performed using the 1,105 F2 progeny. A mixed-effect linear model was used to access association between these single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers and the BFT traits in the F2 intercross population. Results: Highly significant associations of two informative SNPs (c.2442 T>C, c.3316 C>G [R1106G]) in GRIP1 with BFT traits were detected. In addition, the two SNPs were used to construct haplotypes that were also highly associated with the BFT traits. Conclusion: The SNPs and haplotypes of the GRIP1 gene determined in this study can contribute to understand the genetic structure of BFT traits in pigs.

The present study aims to experimentally investigate the spreading characteristics of impinging droplets on hydrophobic textured aluminum (Al 6061) surfaces by using micro computer-based control (μ-CNC) milling machine. Textured surfaces were composed of micro-holes (diameter of 125 ㎛ and depth of 125 ㎛), and we examined the effect of the texture area fraction ranging from 0 to 0.568 on spreading characteristics during impact by measuring the apparent contact angles. A de-ionized(DI) water droplet of 4.3 ㎕ was impinged on textured surfaces at different Weber number ranging from 4.43 to 58.18, and a high-speed camera was used to capture sequential digital images for calculating maximum spreading diameter. It was found that the spreading rate decreased with increasing texture area fraction because of the increase in contact angle and viscous dissipation during the impact.

섬진강에 분포하는 일본재첩 Corbicula japonica의 잠재어획가능량 추정

일본재첩 (Corbicula japonica) 은 백합목 재첩과에 속하는 담수 및 기수역에 분포하는 소형 이매패류로서 사니질의 얕은 수심에서 서식한다. 섬진강 일본재첩의 어획량은 우리나라재첩 총 생산량의 약 30%를 차지하며, 경남지역 생산량의 대부분을 차지한다. 섬진강 일본재첩에 대한 정확한 어획 및 자원량에 관한 연구가 미미하여 과학적인 자원평가 및 관리방안도출이 매우 열악한 실정이다. 본 연구는 섬진강 일본재첩에대한 이용가능한 정보 및 자료가 부족한 상황에서 과학적이고체계적인 자원관리방안을 도출하기 위하여 잠재어획가능량 산정의 5단계 체계를 구축하였다. 섬진강 일본재첩의 잠재어획가능량은 보다 높은 정보수준을 요구하는 1-2단계에서 산정하였다. 이에 섬진강 일본재첩의 잠재어획가능량은 상업어획조사에 의한 1단계 정보수준에서는 77.66 톤, 직접자원조사에의한 2단계 정보수준에서는 129.82 톤으로 추정되었다. Corbicula japonica, was belonging to Other Veneroida Family Corbiculidae, distributed in the freshwater and brackish rivers, where was a sandy and shallow depth. Catch of C. japonica in the Seomjin River occupied at a large portion of the catch in Kyungnam Province, which was about 30% of total catch in Korea. C. japonica has little studied on biomass, scientific resources assessment and management, because of inaccurate catch report data in the Seojin River. In this study, we conducted scientific and systematic approaches under data limited situation with application of the potential fishery yield system for sustainable fisheries resources management. Estimation system of the potential fishery yield was consisted of 5 tier system. We have used to tier 1 and 2 which were demanded higher level of information than the other tiers. The potential fishery yields were estimated 77.66ton for tier 1 using commercial fishery-dependent data, and 129.82ton for tier 2 with fishery-independent survey data.

직류철도 급전계통의 안전성 향상을 위한 차단기 동작 최적 설정의 실험적 고찰

This paper presents an experimental study on the optimal settings for the selected DC fault relay (50F) to improve the operating performance for the high-speed circuit breaker on DC feeding system which ensure safety within rolling stock maintenance depot. In this study, current supplied to overhead contact wire was calculated on 1 ms interval to analyze the correction values of DC fault selective relay for the operation of current supply cutout. Particularly, standards for the accurate detection of accidents between an electric railway vehicle and the electric power facilities are shown by investigating the optimal correction values for detection of fault current, and the results indicated that it takes about 213 ms for the DC fault selective relay(50F) to fully open. In the future, the correction values of DC fault selective relay suggested in this paper will be used as the reference values of protective relay for the safe operation of DC electric railroad system such as urban railway.

사실로서의 侍天主

東學의 시작과 끝은 侍天主에 있다. 하늘을 모신다는 시천주 관념은 동북아시아에서 오랜 전통을 가진 天神으로서의 하늘을 섬기는 데서 출발하는 것처럼 보인다. 그럼에도 불구하고 동학에서는 말하기를 개벽 후 5만 년에 처음 받은 道라 하였다. 어떤 점에서 그러한가? 동학에서 하늘을 모신다는 것은 무당이 神을 몸에 받아들이거나 인간 밖의 神들을 섬기는 것과는 다르다. 그 모심은 일시적이거나 수동적이지 않다. 동학에서 시천주를 이야기하는 것은 생명의 실상에 대해 이야기하는 것이다. 모심의 대상인 하늘은 곧 생명의 근원으로, 실체이자 원리이다. 하늘을 이야기하는 것은 곧 인간을 이야기하는 것이다. 사람이 곧 하늘이라 하는 것은 인간 생명이 곧 우주적 생명이라는 것이다. 시천주에는 사실로서의 시천주와 당위로서의 시천주가 있다. 사실로서의 시천주는 인간 속에 우주적 생명이 깃들어 있다는 생명의 실상에 대해 이야기하는 것이고, 당위로서의 시천주는 그 실상을 회복하고 실현해야 한다는 것이다. 사실로서의 시천주에 대한 이해가 선행해야 당위로서의 시천주가 가능하고, 당위로서의 시천주를 거쳐야 진정한 의미에서의 시천주가 가능하다. 사실로서의 시천주는 곧 우리의 생명존재가, 수운의 표현에 의하면 “안으로는 神靈이 있고 밖으로는 氣化가 있다”는 것이다. 해월의 해석에 의하면 인간생명에서 神靈은 곧 心靈으로 존재하고, 氣化는 곧 靈氣를 수용하는 것이다. 心靈은 나의 생명의 중심이 되고 靈氣는 생명활동의 기초가 된다. 心靈과 靈氣는 곧 하늘이고, 그것들을 지배하는 법칙[道]도 하늘이다. 天道는 靈符로 표현된다. 따라서 온 우주는 하나로 관통되어 있으며, 인간은 이미 시천주하고 있다는 것이다. The essence of the thought of Dong-hak is Si-Cheonju(侍天主). The thought of Si-Cheonju seems to come from the tradition of worshiping Heaven(God) which has a long history in Eastern Asia. Nevertheless, Dong-Hak asserts that their thought is the first time in human history. The thought of Si-Cheonju is about the reality of life. Cheonju or Heaven is the origin of life, and it is the unity of subtances and principle(道). The substances are Sprit(神) and Qi(氣). To tell that Man is Heaven is to tell that Human life is a Cosmic life. There are two aspects in Si-Cheonju. One is as the reality, and the other is as the should-be. Si-Cheonju as the reality of life means that human life consits of Spiritual Mind(心靈) and Spiritual Energy(靈氣), and they are guided by the cosmic principle(天道). The cosmic principle is represented as the Spritual Talisman(靈符) in Dong-hak.

남한-북한-미국 정상회담을 통한 한반도 평화 구축

남북 및 북미 정상회담의 의의를 크게 네 가지로 정리할 수 있다. 첫째, 1945년부터 지속된 한반도 분단 상태를 73년 만에 끝내고 통일의 문턱에 이르게 되었다. 둘째, 1948년부터 지속된 북미 간의 적대관계를 70년 만에 끝내고 새로운 관계로 나아가기로 합의했다. 셋째, 1950년부터 ‘본격적으로’ 시작된 한국전쟁을 68년 만에 완전히 끝낼 수 있게 되었다. 넷째, 1993년부터 불거진 ‘북핵 문제’를 해결해 “한반도의 완전한 비핵화”를 실현하기로 합의했다. 난 10여 년 전부터 ‘북핵 문제’를 풀기 위한 방안으로 다음과 같이 3단계 해법을 제안해왔다. 제1단계로, 미국은 북한에 대한 폭격이나 전쟁 위협을 그만두고 북한은 핵무기와 미사일 개발을 멈추도록 한다. 제2단계로, 미국은 주한미군을 유지하고 북한은 핵무기를 보유한 상태에서 한국전쟁을 완전히 끝내고 평화협정을 맺어 상호 신뢰를 구축한다. 제3단계로, 미국은 주한미군을 철수하고 북한은 핵무기를 폐기하며, 한반도의 완전한 비핵화와 함께 항구적 평화체제를 구축한다. The meaning of inter-Korean and North Korean-American summits may be summarized as follows. First, the hostile division that lasted for the past 73 years from 1945 between the two Koreas can finally end. Second, 70 year-old hostile relationships that lasted between North Korea and the United States from 1948 can finally end. Third, the 68 year-old Korean War that started from 1950 can finally end. Fourth, the 25 year-old problematic ‘North Korean nuclear issue’ from 1993 can be solved and the ‘complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula’ may be realized. For ten years I have suggested a three-step solution to the ‘North Korean nuclear issue.’ First, North Korea stops further nuclear and missile development and the United States halts its joint military drills with South Korea. Second, while the North possesses its existing nuclear arms and the United States keeps its troops in South Korea, the two sides build mutual trust through a declaration to end the Korean War and reach a peace agreement. Third, the North dismantles its nuclear arms and the United States withdraws its troops from South Korea.
