A hybrid approach that combines the method of moments and Monte Carlo simulation to predict the molecular weight distribution of low-density polyethylene for a continuous stirred tank reactor system is proposed. A ‘Block’, which is repeating reaction group, is introduced for the calculation cost-effective simulation. This model called the ‘block Kinetic Monte Carlo’ is ~10 to 32 times faster than Neuhaus’s model. The model can be applied to any steady state system and provide a calculation cost reduction effect, where one reaction is much faster than others, for example, the propagation reaction. Furthermore, we performed a case study on the effects of the system temperature and initiator concentration on the MWD and reaction rate ratio. Based on the simulation results of 180 case studies, we determined a quantitative guideline for the appearance of shoulder, which is a function of the rate ratio of reactions to the propagation reaction.
Physics-informed deep learning for data-driven solutions of computational fluid dynamics

Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is an essential tool for solving engineering problems that involve fluid dynamics. Especially in chemical engineering, fluid motion usually has extensive effects on system states, such as temperature and component concentration. However, due to the critical issue of long computational times for simulating CFD, application of CFD is limited for many real-time problems, such as real-time optimization and process control. In this study, we developed a surrogate model of a continuous stirred tank reactor (CSTR) with van de Vusse reaction using physics-informed neural network (PINN), which can train the governing equations of the system. We propose a PINN architecture that can train every governing equation which a chemical reactor system follows and can train a multi-reference frame system. Also, we investigated that PINN can resolve the problem of neural network that needs a large number of training data, is easily overfitted and cannot contain physical meaning. Furthermore, we modified the original PINN suggested by Raissi to solve the memory error and divergence problem with two methods: Mini-batch training and weighted loss function. We also suggest a similarity-based sampling strategy where the accuracy can be improved up to five times over random sampling. This work can provide a guideline for developing a high performance surrogate model of the chemical process.

As technologies develop, the digital health sector is gradually expanding. Internationally, the global summit for Digital Health named Global Digital Health Partnership (GDHP) was launched in 2018. Many countries are participating in GDHP and share their policy experiences on digital health and find the ways to cooperate with participating countries (13 countries, including South Korea, and Hong Kong). This article reviewed the international trends in digital health policy environment and evidence assessment focusing on GDHP activities, and derived implications for health technology assessment of digital health. Consequently, to assess the intervention effects of digital health is very complex and the assessment should be considered multidimensional aspects (social, clinical, and technical). In addition the patient experience should be assessed qualitatively. Health technology assessment (HTA) should assess the effect of digital health policies to changes in health care systems resulting from the application of advanced technologies related to the 4th Industrial Revolution. Digital health is also related to new HTA, HTA of existing technologies, and R&D on the promising health technology. Therefore, it is necessary to review the trends of the technology’s management policy consistently through the HTA of digital health.

This paper is a summary of the methodology including protocol used to develop evidence-based clinical imaging guidelines (CIGs) in Korea, led by the Korean Society of Radiology and the National Evidence-based Healthcare Collaborating Agency. This is the first protocol to reflect the process of developing diagnostic guidelines in Korea. The development protocol is largely divided into the following sections: set-up, process of adaptation, and finalization. The working group is composed of clinical imaging experts, and the developmental committee is composed of multidisciplinary experts to validate the methodology. The Korean CIGs will continue to develop based on this protocol, and these guidelines will act for decision supporting tools for clinicians as well as reduce medical radiation exposure.
Study on adsorption/desorption of As by mine sludge depending on pH and natural organic matter
최솔지,김경웅,이병태,김주용 한국자원공학회 2013 Geosystem engineering Vol.16 No.3
Acid mine drainage (AMD) sludge, which is a waste product from AMD treatment, and synthesized ferrihydrite were used as an adsorbent substance to remove dissolved As(III) and As(V). To investigate the influence of pH value and organic matter on arsenic retention, a comparative study of adsorption and desorption behavior of arsenic was conducted. AMD sludge and ferrihydrite removed more than 80% of As(III) and As(V) within 10 min in acid to neutral condition. The maximum adsorption capacity of mine sludge (125 mg/g) was greater than that of ferrihydrite (98.04 mg/g) in arsenite. As(V) species dominated in oxidizing environment could be easily affected by pH more than As(III). In the kinetic adsorption with organic matter, the possibility of desorption of arsenic was not detected. Although the concentration of organic matter was increased to high figure in natural water, almost of As(III) and As(V) was removed within 10 min. In contrast to previous study, competitive adsorption of organic matter slightly enhanced adsorption of As(V) from the result of kinetics adsorption. Because of forming complexion between arsenic and natural organic matter, adsorption on ironcontaining adsorbents was enhanced and reached to the equilibrium state. In desorption, As(V) was highly desorbed only in intensive alkaline condition. Outcomes from these studies could suggest that it was very profitable to use waste mine sludge as an effective adsorbent by comparing adsorption capacity of ferrihydrite. These findings also raised the possibility of desorption followed by re-dissolution of reduced arsenic by natural attenuation in AMD.
의료정보정책 및 디지털헬스의 국제동향 - Global Digital Health Partnership Summit, 18.02.19~20, 호주 캔버라 -

Abstract: This report is to review recent international trends in the field of health information policy and digital health through the Global Digital Health Partnership (GDHP) Summit held at Canberra, the capital of Australia, last February 18~20. International participants from thirteen countries, Hong Kong SAR, and the World Health Organization (WHO) have kicked off a new global network to support best use of digital technology in modern healthcare. This event seems an opportunity for deep, transformational engagement by governments, digital health agencies, and the WHO so they can learn, share policy and other evidence that supports them to deliver better digital health services. The Summit suggested to supports governments and health system reformers to improve the health and wellbeing of their citizens through best use of evidence-based digital technologies as the vision of GDHP. And, for the outcomes in future digital health, the five identified topics, Interoperability, Cyber security, Policy environments, Engaging consumers and clinicians, and Evidence and evaluation, have been discussed in small group sessions.
