Feature Extraction and Deep Learning Model for Respiratory Sound Analysis

In the medical field, doctors diagnose respiratory disease by auscultating the patient’s respiratory sound. It means that the subjective judgment of the doctor is diagnosed with respiratory diseases rather than the quantitative assessment method. However, the subjective diagnosis method relies on the experience of the doctor and can lead t misdiagnosed results. To address these issues, it is important to derive quantitative indicators based on the analysis of respiratory sound data ad utilize it as an objective aid for the diagnosis of the doctor. In this study, we propose using a Hierarchical Attention Network (HAN) model for respiratory sound analysis. This method can reflect hierarchical patterns of respiratory sounds that consist of time and frequency domain and allows doctors to interpret the important feature of respiratory sounds. In addition, we propose a feature extraction method that applies several features of respiratory sound as stacked channels. We conducted experiments on real-world respiratory sound data to demonstrate the effectiveness and applicability of our method. The experimental results showed that the proposed method outperformed the existing methods for respiratory sound analysis. We believe that the proposed method can contribute to diagnosis in the medical field and various industries where the interpretation of sound data is important.
Potentially Hepatoprotective Glycolipid Constituents of Lycium chinense Fruits

Further investigation of Lycium chinense fruits gave a mixture of (6'-O-palmitoyl)- and (6'-Ostearoyl)- β-sitosterol-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (1) and two glycolipids, 1-O-(9Z,12Z,15Z-octadecatrienoyl)- 2-O- (9Z,12Z,15Z-octadecatrienoyl)-3-O-β-D-galactopyranosyl glycerol (2) and 1-O-(9Z,12Z-octadecadienoyl)-2-O-(9Z,12Z,15Z-octadecatrienoyl)-3-O-β-D-galactopyranosyl glycerol (3). These compounds were newly isolated as constituents of L. chinense.
스타티스 ‘오션 블루’의 자가영양배양시 광도, 환기횟수 및 $\textrm{CO}_2$ 농도가 소식물체의 기내 생육에 미치는 영향

자가영양배양시 광도,환기횟수 및 $CO_2$농도가 스타티스 ‘Ocean Blue’ 소식물체의 생장에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다 MS 배지에서 광흔합영양해양을 통하여 증식된 스타티스 식물체에서 2~3장의 잎을 가진 줄기 절편체를 채취하여 배양용기당 4개씩 치상하였다. 절편체는 온도 25$\pm$1$^{\circ}C$. 상대습도 70~ 80%인 배양실에서 cool-white 형광램프로 명기동안 70, 150, 또는 220$\mu$mol. $m^{-2}$ . $s^{-1}$의 광을 공급하면서 41일 동안 배양하였다. MS 기본배지를 사용하였으며, sucrose와 vitamin은 첨가하지 않았다. 광도가 높아질수록 생체 중,건물중 및 엽면적이 증가하였다. $CO_2$농도를 높여준 경우 초장, 생체중, 건물중 및 엽면적이 증가하였다. 뿌리길이와 엽록소 농도는 광도나 $CO_2$의 영향을 받지 않았다. 배양용기 내의 환기횟수를 높이고, 고광도의 $CO_2$를 공급할수록,그리고 PPF를 증가시킬수록 스타티스 소식물체의 자가영양배양에서의 생육이 촉진되었다. Growth and development of Limonium spp.‘Ocean Blue’plantlets were studied under three levels of photosynthetic photon flux (PPF),70,150 and 220 $\mu$mol. $m^{-2}$ . $s^{-1}$ , two levels of $CO_2$ concentration, 500 and 1000 $\mu$mol. $m^{-1}$ , and two levels of number of air exchanges per hour (NAEH),0.1 $h^{-1}$ and 2.8 $h^{-l}$. Explants were obtained from photomixotrophically-micropropagated plantlets. Four explants per vessel were cultured under cool-white fluorescent lamps for 16 h. $d^{-1}$ at 25$\pm$11$^{\circ}C$ and 70~80% relative humidity. In treatments of 2.8 $h^{-1}$ NAEH, a 10 mm round hole made on the vessel cap was sealed with a microporous filter and two $CO_2$ concentrations in the culture rooms were provided from a liquefied $CO_2$ tank. Fresh and dry weights, height, length of the longest root, number of loaves, and leaf area significantly increased with increasing PPF and especially, $CO_2$ concentration. Growth was enhanced by a 2.8 $h^{-1}$ NAEH. Overall, treatment with a 220 $\mu$mol. $m^{-2}$ . $s^{-1}$ PPF and a 1000 $\mu$mol. $m^{-1}$ $CO_2$ resulted in the most vigorous growth of Limonium spp. ‘Ocean Blue’ plantlets.s.
Preventive effect of fermented black ginseng against cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity in rats

Background: Fermented black ginseng (FBG) is processed ginseng by the repeated heat treatment and fermentation of raw ginseng. The protective effect and mechanism of FBG on cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity was investigated to evaluate its therapeutic potential. Methods: The free radical scavenging activity of FBG was measured using 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH). In addition, the protective effect against cisplatin-induced renal damage was tested in rats. FBG was orally administered every day at a dose of 150 mg/kg body weight for 10 d, and a single dose of cisplatin was administered intraperitoneally (7.5 mg/kg body weight) with 0.9% saline on the 4th d. Results: The DPPH radical-scavenging activity of FBG (IC50¼ 384 mg/mL) was stronger than that of raw ginseng. The improved DPPH radical-scavenging activity was mediated by the generation phenolic compounds. The decreased cell viability by cisplatin was recovered significantly after treatment with FBG in a dose-dependent manner. Then, the protective effect of FBG on cisplatin-induced oxidative renal damage was investigated in rats. The decreased creatinine clearance levels, which are a reliable marker for renal dysfunction in cisplatin-treated rats, were reduced to the normal level after the administration of FBG. Moreover, FBG showed protective effects against cisplatin-induced oxidative renal damage in rats through the inhibition of NF-kB/p65, COX-2, and caspase-3 activation. Conclusion: These results collectively show that the therapeutic evidence for FBG ameliorates the nephrotoxicity via regulating oxidative stress, inflammation, and apoptosis.
