십전대보탕가미방(十全大補湯加味方)이 항암화학요법제(抗癌化學療法劑)의 세포독성(細胞毒性) 및 종양세포(腫瘍細胞)의 lysosomal enzymes에 미치는 영향(影響)

Mainly side effects of antitumor chemotheraphy are fatigue, G-Ⅰ trouble(such as vomitting, nausea, diarrhea) and reduction of medullary function etc. Differentiated from syndromes in oriental medicine, above symptoms are recognized to 'Deficiency of both ki(vital energy) and blood'. And SDT(Sipjeondaebotang) has been widely used in 'Deficiency of both ki(vital energy) and blood'. Dr. Mun's SDTG(Sipjeondaebotanggamibang) consists of SDT plus several herb medicines-these have antitumor effect and reduce chemotherapheutic side effect. This experiment was undertaken to study the effects of SDTG on chemotherapheutic side effect and cytotoxicity. The results obtained in this study were as follows: Antitumor activities of the ethanol extract from SDTG(Sipjeondaebotanggamibang) and MMC(Mytomycin) on ascitis form of calcinoma in mice is a little improved. Especialy mean survival times of the group of SDTG(200mg/kg) and MMC(0.1mg/kg) is improved over 50%. When SDTG and MMC is administrated together, the weight of tumor is more decreased than MMC alone. The effect of the ethanol extract from SDTG and MMC on the lysosomal enzymes in Ehrich ascites carcinoma cell are more significantly improved than MMC alone. SDTG extract increases both NKcell conjugation and cyto-lysis against target cell. According to the above results it is recognized that SDTG increases the chemotherapheutic cytotoxicity of MMC and the activity of NKcell.

We employed in-situ spectroscopic ellipsometry(SE) and imaging ellipsometry(IE) to study the interaction of water and photoresist(PR) in 193 immersion lithography. Real time measurement of SE showed thickness increase when PR was immerged in water indicating swelling effect. From the temporal evolution we could observe its reaction-limited behavior. Meanwhile, IE could identify the modification of PR surface by contact of water even for a short period of a second.

Effects of Chiyangtang(CYT) on H. pylori-induced increase of interleukin 8 and interleukin 1 gene expression was studied in Kato Ⅲ cell line, a human stomach epithelial cell line. Treatment of H. pylori to the cell culture signifant!y increased IL-8 and IL-1 mRNA synthesis. When CYT was added along with H. pylori, the increase of IL-8 and IL-1 mRNA synthesis was blocked. Activation of transcription factor $NF-{\kappa}B$ and AP-1 which were known to important in IL-8 and IL-1 gene expression was also studied using chloramphenicol acetyltransferase(CAT) assay. Treatment of H. pylori increased activation of $NF-{\kappa}B$ and AP-l and CYT effectively protected the activation. Electrophoretic mobility shift assay suggested that CYT effectively inhibited DNA binding of $NF-{\kappa}B$ and AP-l to their cognate site. These results suggested that CYT could prevent stomach diseases through the down regulation of IL -8 and IL-l gene expression which might be mediated by the inhibition of $NF-{\kappa}B$ and AP-1 activities and their binding to DNA.

The use of an Al$_x$Ga$_{1-x}$As bound Ga$_z$In$_{1-z}$P strain compensation structure for optimum strain in latticed mismatched In$_{0.07}$GaAs/GaAsP$_{0.06}$ multiple quantum wells (MQWs) and its effect on the output power of an infrared light-emitting diode at 940-nm were investigated. A Ga$_{0.53}$InP tensile strain structure, which effectively compensate excessive compressive strain in the In$_{0.07}$GaAs/GaAsP$_{0.06}$ MQWs, was inserted between a quantum well and a quantum barrier. The Al$_{0.2}$GaAs material was used as both a growth buffer and a balancing barrier for In$_{0.07}$GaAs/Al$_x$Ga$_{1-x}$As-bound Ga$_{0.53}$InP/GaAsP$_{0.06}$ MQWs. From photoluminescence (PL) measurements and X-ray diffraction (XRD) rocking curves, we verified that the Ga$_{0.53}$InP tensile strain barrier could effectively compensate the compressive strain of the In$_{0.07}$GaAs/GaAsP$_{0.06}$ MQWs. In addition, a further increase in the PL intensity from the In$_{0.07}$GaAs/Al$_y$Ga$_{1-y}$As-bound Ga$_{0.53}$InP/GaAsP$_{0.06}$ MQWs was found after having adjusted the Al$_{0.2}$GaAs strain tuning barrier. This result was significantly supported by the stable balance of the energy bandgap structure in the developed MQWs. From fabricated IR-LEDs chips, the LED with an In$_{0.07}$GaAs/GaAsP$_{0.06}$ MQW employing the Al$_{0.2}$GaAs-bound Ga$_{0.53}$InP strain compensation structure displayed a 48\% higher light output power as compared with a conventional LED. These results suggest that the use of an Al$_{0.2}$GaAs-bound Ga$_{0.53}$InP strain compensation structure effectively improved both the unbalanced strain and the unbalanced energy bandgap of lattice-mismatched In$_{0.07}$GaAs/GaAsP$_{0.06}$ MQWs for 940-nm IR-LEDs.

Tuberculosis of the retropharynx is extremely rare. The diagnosis is frequently delayed because of its anatomical location and atypical symptom. It would be crucial to consider tuberculosis infection as a possible source of abscess and should be mindful about the tests to diagnose it. We experienced a 23-year-old man with retropharyngeal abscess caused by tuberculosis presenting hypernasality and hoarseness in the throat. In this article, we reviewed the etiology, diagnosis, and treatment of this case, with a review of literatures.
