Hex Code-based Geological Cross-sections Describing Landscape Dynamics in the Jeju Geomunoreum Lava Tube System

        이연제,김수인,안웅산,이근철,이미경,이정숙,김대신,김종식 한국환경농학회 2022 한국환경농학회지 Vol.41 No.1

BACKGROUND: The Geomunoreum Lava Tube System (GLTS) is both vast and culturally valuable. The Jeju Volcanic Island and Lava Tubes, which are partly composed of the GLTS, have been declared as a United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organiza-tion (UNESCO) World Heritage Site. Exploration of the caves is strictly regulated to conserve these vulnerable environments. Photographs provide limited information and do not describe the entire environment compre-hensively. Therefore, we created several illustrations of the lava tubes to display their environmental features. METHODS AND RESULTS: We explored six lava caves (upstream and downstream) in the GLTS and photo-graphed their geological features and yellow walls, the colors of which are influenced by microbial mats. We compared the hex codes of the wall colors using the Clip Studio v1.10.5 software and created illustrations that ac-curately represent the scale and features of the caves. CONCLUSION(S): Upstream and downstream caves of the GLTS differ in scale and volcanic features. We illus-trated various characteristics of the caves including lava cave features, vegetation, and microbial mats. We also described the internal and external cave environments.

Gotjawal is an area formed by past volcanic activity on Jeju Island. It is characterized by the development of an uneven topography due to freezing, weathering, and the collapse of surface lava flows over a long period of time. Sanyang (SY) Gotjawal, located in the western part of Jeju Island, is the most well-developed Gotjawal, with uneven topography caused by numerous collapses of lava flows. The base topography of SY Gotjawal consists of large and small rock masses, so its soil development is very poor; however, it has constant high humidity and thus high biodiversity. Despite its ecogeological importance, Gotjawal forest is threatened by human activities, and conservation is needed. The photograph is one of the easiest ways to record nature’s characteristics and convey an appreciation of nature. However, forest vegetation hides geological features in photographs, so we chose illustration as an alternative method to describe the Gotjawal’s features. We first took photographs at SY Gotjawal, western Jeju Island, and also utilized additional information about its vegetation and geological features. We used Clip Studio 1.12.0 to illustrate the natural features. To reveal the complexity of the Gotjawal, we separated plant and geological parts in the illustration. We drew a cross section of its unique soil layer, including lava flows. In addition to geological sketches, we also described the vegetation and soil chemical characteristics in SY Gotjawal.

Gotjawal is a volcanic landform found in Jeju Island. Surface lava flows repeated freezing, weathering, and collapsing over a long period of time, and developed an uneven topography. Sanyang (SY) Gotjawal, located in the western part of Jeju Island, is the most well-developed Gotjawal, with uneven topography caused by numerous collapses of lava flows. The base topography of SY Gotjawal consists of large and small rock masses, so its soil development is very poor; however, constant high humidity contributed to high biodiversity in Gotjawal. Despite its ecogeological value, Gotjawal forest is threatened by human activities, and conservation is needed. The photograph is one of the easiest ways to record nature’s characteristics and convey an appreciation of nature. However, forest vegetation hides geological features in photographs, so we chose illustration as an alternative method to describe the Gotjawal’s overall features. We first took photographs at SY Gotjawal, western Jeju Island, and utilized additional information about its vegetation and geological features. We used Clip Studio 1.12.0 to illustrate the natural features. To reveal the complexity of the Gotjawal, we separated plant and geological parts in the illustration. We drew a cross section of its unique soil layer, including lava flows. In addition to geological sketches, we also described the vegetation and soil chemical characteristics along SY Gotjawal’s elevation. We drew a cross-section of Gotjawal's unique layers, including lava flows. In addition to an eco-geological approach, we described the dominant vegetation and geological characteristics of the three forest layers (trees, shrubs, and herbs) in Gotjawal.

The Geomunoreum Lava Tube System (GLTS) is both vast and culturally valuable. It was formed by both lava activities and carbonates, which is unprecedented case in the world. The Jeju Volcanic Island and Lava Tubes, which are partly composed of the GLTS, have been declared as a United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Site. Little was known about the GLTs, so we conducted fundamental study for conservation. Photographs is one of easiest way to record, but they do not describe the entire environment comprehensively. Therefore, we created several illustrations of the lava tubes to display their environmental features. We explored six lava caves (upstream and downstream) in the GLTS and photographed their geological features and yellow walls, the colors of which are influenced by microbial mats. We compared the hex codes of the wall colors to describe exact colors. We created illustrations that accurately represent the scale and features of the caves using the Clip Studio v1.10.5 software. Upstream and downstream parts of the GLTS differ in scale and volcanic features. We illustrated various characteristics of the caves including lava cave features, vegetation, and microbial mats. 혐오표현의 이해 및 특성에 대한 고찰: 해외 혐오표현 규정을 중심으로

        김성희,성나경,성현준,김성현,김민선,이연제,권준성 한국경찰연구학회 2019 한국경찰연구 Vol.18 No.1

In this study, based on the National Human Rights Commission and a number of prior studies on the expression of aversion, we will examine the process of forming stereotypes of people, how they feel hate and hate in what process, Respectively. In other words, The issue of hate speech has once again been in the spotlight recently from several legal institutions alike numerous countries. This study examined the cognitive, emotional, and behavioural characteristics of hate speech from a psychological perspective. To explore this area, first this study investigated the cognitive process of hate speech which is a spontaneous occurrence in human thought through stereotypes. Secondly, the emotional mechanism of disgust, scorn, and hate was researched. Thirdly, the behavioural process of how hate sentiment caused from discrimination leads to action was studied. Finally, this study scrutinised the Act and the regulations on sanctions for hate speech in other countries, recommendations of an international institution and so forth, and then suggested the systems suitable for Korean culture and society.
