        Insulin secretion and α‑glucosidase inhibitory effects of dicaffeoylquinic acid derivatives

        In this study, we investigated the effects of dicaffeoylquinic acid derivatives, including 1,4-di-O-caffeoylquinic acid (1,4-DCQA), 3,4-di-O-caffeoylquinic acid (3,4-DCQA), 3,5-di-O-caffeoylquinic acid (3,5-DCQA), 4,5-di-O-caffeoylquinic acid (4,5-DCQA), and 1,5-di-O-caffeoylquinic acid (1,5-DCQA) on glucose-stimulated insulin secretion (GSIS) activity and α-glucosidase activity were compared in rat INS-1 pancreatic β-cells. The α-glucosidase inhibitory activities of dicaffeoylquinic acid derivatives were as follows: 1,4-DCQA > 1,5-DCQA > 3,4-DCQA > 4,5-DCQA > 3,5-DCQA. In INS-1 cells, dicaffeoylquinic acid derivatives showed no cytotoxic effect at any concentration (2.5–10 μM). In addition, the GSIS activities of dicaffeoylquinic acid derivatives were as follows: 4,5-DCQA > 3,4-DCQA > 1,4-DCQA > 3,5-DCQA > 1,5-DCQA. Treatment of INS-1 cells with 4,5-DCQA resulted in a marked increase in protein expression of extracellular signal-regulated protein kinases (ERK), insulin receptor substrate-2 (P-IRS-2), Akt, phosphoinositide 3-kinase (P-PI3K), and pancreatic and duodenal homeobox-1 (PDX-1), which might be related to its GSIS activity in INS-1 cells. These findings indicate that the location of the dicaffeoyl functional group influences the anti-diabetic activity of quinic acid.

        성대마비 및 성대용종 환자의 수술 전과 후의 공기역학적 변수 비교

        Background and Objectives : Aerodynamic analysis is an examination which provides information regarding various vocalization measures indicating laryngeal efficiency. Voice evaluation using such examination must be capable of distinguishing between normal to abnormal voice. It also observes variables on aerodynamic characteristics by gender in regards to patients of vocal disorders, especially of vocal cord paralysis and vocal polyp, and compares the conditions before and after surgery. This paper therefore, seeks to build a framework for establishing standard levels of aerodynamical characteristic on vocal disorders. Subjects and Methods : The study was intended for a total number of 20 patients with vocal polyp or unilateral vocal cord paralysis. Those with the vocal polyp underwent laryngomycroscopy surgery and the vocal cord paralysis, vocal fold injection using Restylane. Aerodynamic analysis fulfilled the Maximum sustained Phonation (MXPH) and Voicing Efficiency (VOEF) by using PAS Model 6600 (KayPENTAX, USA). Results : In MXPH, increase in PHOT were evident with vocal polyp after surgery. As for patients with vocal cord paralysis, MAXDB, MEADB, DHODB, PHOT all have increased and MEAP, PEF, MEAF decreased after surgery. In VOEF, patients with vocal cord paralysis who underwent surgery showed increase in MAXDB, MEADB, DHODB, FET100, ARES, but decreases in PEF, TARF. Conclusion : Overall, it can be concluded that patients with the vocal polyp and vocal cord paralysis seemed to get closer to the normal values after than before surgery in majority of measures. This confirms that the function of their vocal cord has improved nearly to normality through operations.

        비틀어진 형상(Twisted) 고층 구조물의 평면 회전 각도별 동적 응답 분석

        In this paper, the dynamic response was analyzed by performing linear dynamic analysis using historic earthquake loads on twisted-shaped structures and fixed structure among free-form high-rise structures with atypical elevation shape following prior studies. In addition, the dynamic characteristics of the analysis models according to the plane rotation angle of the twisted structure were compared and analyzed. As a result of the analysis, as the plane rotation angle of the twisted structure increased, the interlayer deformation rate increased in the high-rise part of 50th floors or more. The story shear force and the story absolute acceleration were similar in the entire structure. In the case of the story shear force, the response of the twisted shape model was rather reduced in the middle part. As a result of analyzing the dynamic response, the vulnerable layer where the response amplification of the twisted structure occurs was found to be 31st story.

        비틀어진 형상(Twisted)을 가지는 고층 구조물의 역학적 특성 분석

        In this study, structural characteristics were analyzed by combining gravity load and lateral loads such as seismic loads through static analysis of example structures, and the static characteristics of the twisted structure according to the plane rotation angle were also analyzed. Example structures were selected as regular structure, and twisted structures; 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0 degree angle of rotation per story, and static analysis was performed by the load combination case 1 and case 2. As a result the story drift ratio of the twisted-shaped structure also increased as the plane rotation angle per story increased. The eccentricity according to the load combination was the highest in the lower stories of all analysis models, and the eccentricity was found to be larger as the rotation angle decreased. The twisted-shaped structure was more responsible for the bending moment of the column than the regular structure, and the vertical member axial force of all analysis models was almost similar.

        세 가지 평면 형상에 따른 비틀림 비정형 빌딩구조물의 지진응답 분석

        In this paper, a twisted shape structure with an elevation form favorable to the resistance of vibration caused by wind loads is selected from among the forms of high-rise buildings. The analytical model is a square, triangular, and hexagonal plane with a plane rotation angle of one degree from 0 to 3 degrees per each story. As a result of the analysis, as the twist angle increased, story drift ratio is increased. Responses with different eccentricity rates were shown by analytical models. Therefore planar shapes designed symmetrically to the horizontal axis of X and Y are considered advantageous for eccentricity and torsion deformation. In the case of the bending moment of the column, the response was amplified in the column supporting the base floor, the roof floor, the floor in which the cross-section of the vertical member changes, and the floor having the same number of nodes as the base floor. Finally, the axial force response of the column is determined to be absolutely affected by the gravity load compared to the lateral load.

        The outbreak of COVID-19 has had a huge impact on human life. The World Bank group (WBG) has stated that 2020 is the worst year since World War II for economic growth. An epidemic of an infectious disease such as COVID-19 is classified as a "social disaster" by law. The social disaster caused by COVID-19 puts certain industries, occupations and vulnerable groups at risk of exclusion and isolation. This paper intends to examine the fluctuations in the consumer price index in the cultural, sports and tourism sector before and after the onset of COVID-19. In addition, it predicts the consumer price index by sector until December 2021 and reveals its implications.

        미이용 초본계 바이오매스 활용을 위한 반탄화 기술 리뷰

        Biomass is a major carbon neutral energy source, but it is generally difficult to use as a fuel due to low energy density, high moisture content, and low heating value because of hydrophilicity. As one of the methods for overcoming these problems of biomass, research on torrefaction is continuously being performed. Through torrefaction, high energy density characteristics can be obtained by increasing the carbon content in the biomass, and moisture in the biomass can be removed, hydrophilicity can be changed to hydrophobicity, and the heating value can be increased. In addition, since a grindability of torrified biomass is improved, energy consumption is reduced 3 to 7 times when pulverizing biomass, thereby reducing costs of storage and transportation. In the domestic torrefied biomass market, laboratory-scale tests are being conducted in universities, but development for commercialization and demonstraion is still insignificant. In EU, demonstraion and commercial scale torrefaction technologies such as rotary drum, screw, moving bed, fluidized bed, multi-stage furnace, and conveyor belt types are being developed. This study analyzed the characteristics and R&D trends of biomass torrefaction technology, an upgrading fuel conversion technology from wasted herbaceous biomass for sustainable development.

        작업치료사에서 임상경력에 따른 상담 및 평가 실무역량에 대한 인식 차이

        목적: 본 연구의 목적은 설문을 통하여 작업치료사 임상경력에 따른 상담 및 평가 실무역량에 대한 인식의 차이를알아보는 것이었다. 연구대상자는 성인 환자를 대상으로 치료하는 임상경력3년 미만의 초임작업치료사와 임상경력 5년 이상의 선임작업치료사 총 223명이었다. 방법: 설문지는 일반적 특성 5문항과 상담 및 평가 실무역량 8문항으로 구성되었다. 실무역량에 대한 인식 수준은 5점 척도로 조사되었으며, 초임작업치료사는 자신이 평가하였으며, 선임작업치료사는 초임 작업치료사를 평가하였다. 결과: 임상경력에 따른 실무역량 인식에 있어서 초임작업치료사가 선임작업치료사 보다 상지평가, 인지평가 항목에서 실무역량에 차이를 보이지 않았다. 하지만, 초임작업치료사는 임상관찰, 가동범위검사, 근력검사, 감각검사, ADL 검사, 삼킴평가 항목에서 실무역량이 유의하게 낮게 나타났다. 결론: 초임작업치료사는 실무역량을 선임작업치료사로부터 인정받는 수준으로 숙련되는데 3년 이상 필요하다. 따라서, 작업치료사 양성교육과정에서 실무역량을 향상시키는 교육의 질적 개선이 필요함을 제안한다. The purpose of this study was to examine the difference in perception of practical competency in counseling and evaluation according to the clinical experience of occupational therapists through a questionnaire. The questionnaire was composed of 5 questions of general characteristics and 8 questions of practical competency in counseling and evaluation. The awareness level of practical competency was surveyed on a 5-point scale, where the novice occupational therapists evaluated themselves, and the senior occupational therapists evaluated the novice occupational therapists. In awareness of actual competency based on clinical experience, the novice occupational therapists showed no difference in actual competency in the upper extremity function evaluation and cognitive evaluation items compared to the senior occupational therapists. However, the novice occupational therapists showed significantly lower practical competency in clinical observation, range of motion test, muscle strength test, sensory test, ADL test, and swallowing function test. In conclusion, a novice occupational therapist needs more than three years to be skilled at a level recognized by a senior occupational therapist. Therefore, the study suggests that the quality of education should be improved in order to improve actual competency in the training programs for occupational therapists.

        s-IGDT 시스템의 X-선원 배열 형태 및 투영상 개수에 따른 영상 화질 평가에 관한 연구

        Although stationary inverse-geometry digital tomosynthesis (s-IGDT) is able to reduce motion artifacts, image acquisition time and radiation dose, the image quality of the s-IGDT is degraded due to the truncations arisen in projections. Therefore, the effects of geometric and image acquisition conditions in the s-IGDT should be analyzed for improving the image quality and clinical applicability of the s-IGDT system. In this study, the s-IGDT images were obtained with the various X-ray source arrangement types and the various number of projections. The resolution and noise characteristics of the obtained s-IGDT images were evaluated, and the characteristics were compared with those of the conventional DT images. The s-IGDT system using linear X-ray source arrangement and 40 projections maximized the image characteristics of resolution and noise, and the corresponding system was superior to the conventional DT system in terms of image resolution. In conclusion, we expect that the s-IGDT system can be used for providing medical images in diagnosis.
