Purpose We evaluated the effect of positive superficial and/or deep margin status on local recurrence (LR) in invasive breast cancer treated with breast-conserving surgery (BCS) followed by radiotherapy. Materials and Methods In total, 3,403 stage 1 and 2 invasive breast cancer patients treated with BCS followed by radiotherapy from January 2000 to December 2008 were included in this study. These patients were divided into three groups according to margin status: clear resection margin status for all sections (group 1, n=3,195); positive margin status in superficial and/or deep sections (group 2, n=121); and positive peripheral parenchymal margin regardless of superficial and/or deep margin involvement (group 3, n=87). The LR-free survival between these three groups was compared and the prognostic role of margin status was analyzed. Results Across all groups, age, tumor size, nodal status, and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 status did not significantly differ. High grade, positive extensive intraductal component, hormone receptor positivity, hormone therapy received, and chemotherapy not received were more prevalent in groups 2 and 3 than in group 1. Five-year LR rates in groups 1, 2, and 3 were 1.9%, 1.7%, and 7.7%, respectively. Multivariate analysis revealed that group 3 was a significant predictor for LR (hazard ratio [HR], 4.78; p < 0.001), but that positive superficial and/or deep margin was not (HR, 0.66; p=0.57). Conclusion Superficial and/or deep margin involvement following BCS is not an important predictor for LR.
다양한 강종을 적용한 방음벽 접합부의 재료적 비선형 해석

This study performs material nonlinear analysis of connection parts at noise barriers, which have a light weight. Subsequent numerical simulation results for three types of models (standard, double, and standard models strengthen by ribs) present that the applied connections for target noise barriers constructed show suitable structural performance. In this paper, the existing finite element elastic stress analysis using the ABAQUS program is further extended to study the plastic stress distribution of the noise barriers. The numerical results for various parameters are verified by comparing different steel types with stresses occurred in the noise barrier from the numerical simulation.

청양 고추는 매운 맛이 강한 소과종으로 풍산성인 특성을 가지고 있으며 예천 지방에서는 주로 시설 풋고추재배에 이용되고 있으며, 작목회 활동도 활성화되어 있어서 농가의 기술 축적이 비교적 잘 이루어져 있다. 또 청양고추는 탄저병도 비교적 강하고 다수성 품종이지만 노지 건고추로 개발된 것이어서 시설재배 할 때는 광선이 부족하고 조기재배로 인한 적산온도의 확보가 어려우며 시설내의 보온으로 인한 환기부족으로 습도가 높아지게 된다. 이러한 현상은 암술 신장에 따른 수정장애와 단위결과가 일어나므로 풋고추 생산에 어려움이 많다.
경량화를 위한 터널형 방음벽 구조의 매개변수 기반 고강도 강관 적용성 평가

This study addresses the material nonlinear behaviors of noise tunnel structures composed of high-strength circular steel tubes for weight reduction. A finite element elastic and plastic analysis is performed for different types of flange connections of noise tunnels. The plastic behaviors of flange connections are also investigated considering increased road widths. To reduce the weight of noise tunnel structures, this study uses four types of steel associated with various geometries of the entire structure. From an economic point of view, the parametric results obtained in this study show that the proper use of high-strength steels makes a positive contribution to the design of lighter noise tunnels. 본 연구는 경량화를 위한 고강도 강관 방음터널의 재료적 비선형 거동을 다룬다. 방음터널의 플랜지 접합부의 형상변화에 따라 유한요소 탄성 및 소성해석을 수행하였다. 또한, 플랜지 접합부의 소성 거동은 도로 폭을 증가하면서 규명하였다. 방음터널의 중량을 감소시키기 위하여 본 연구에서는 4가지 서로 다른 강종을 적용하였으며, 전체 구조물의 다양한 기하학적 형상변화와의 상관관계를 분석하였다. 본 연구에서 도출한 변수해석 결과는 경제적 관점에서 더욱 가벼운 방음터널의 설계에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.
Transcatheter Arterial Embolization of Splenic Artery Aneurysms: A Single-Center Experience

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to report on splenic artery aneurysms (SAAs) treated by transcatheter embolization in our single-center institution and to evaluate the clinical outcomes of patients with SAA by aneurysm location. Materials and Methods: The original medical records and imaging results of 52 patients with SAA treated in our center between January 1, 1995 and December 31, 2013 were reviewed. Of these cases, 7 patients (13.5%) underwent surgery, 4 patients (7.5%) underwent serial observation, and 1 patient had stent insertion only, leaving 40 patients (78.9%) who underwent endovascular treatment using a coil, with or without N-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate. Results: Aneurysms were located in the distal third of the splenic artery in 27 patients (67.5%), in the middle third in 9 cases (22.5%), and in the proximal third in 4 cases (10%). Of the 40 included patients, 25 were female (62.5%). Twentyeight patients (70%) were asymptomatic. The mean aneurysm diameter was 2.48 cm (range, 0.8–6.0 cm). Complications involved pancreatitis (n=1) and early spleen infarction (n=29: <1/3 in 14, 1/3–2/3 in 10, and >2/3 in 5). Postembolization syndrome was noted in 26 patients (65%). There were no significant differences by aneurysm location in the postoperative increase in the values of white blood cells, amylase, lipase, and C-reactive protein (P=0.067, P=0.881, P=0.891, and P=0.188, respectively). Conclusion: At our institution, endovascular management is safe, has high technical success, and represents the first-line treatment for SAA, regardless of aneurysm location
