Phytoestrogens, such as isoflavones, are known for their capacity to simulate various physiological impacts of estrogen in the human body. Our research evaluated the effects of isoflavone-enriched soybean leaves (IESL) on collagen fiber loss prompted by ovariectomy in Sprague Dawley (SD) rats, thereby simulating menopausal changes in women. IESL, bolstered with an increased concentration of isoflavones through a metabolite farming process, contained a significantly higher amount of isoflavones than regular soybean leaves. Our results indicate that the administration of IESL can counteract the decrease in relative optical density and dermal thickness of collagen fibers caused by ovariectomy in SD rats, with more pronounced effects observed at higher isoflavone dosages. These outcomes suggest that soybean leaves rich in isoflavones may hold potential benefits in combating collagen degradation and skin aging symptoms related to menopause. Further research is needed to fully understand the exact molecular pathways at play and the potential clinical relevance of these findings.

It was reported that the toughness for welded region was influenced by various factors such as the gradient for prior austenite grain size, the variation of microhardness and the characteristic microstructure depending on distance from the fusion boundary. Therefore, in order to evaluate the fracture strength of the weldment in which the microstructures change continuously, it is important to assess the peculiar strength of each microstructure in welded region. It was known that the small punch(SP) test technique which was originally developed to study the irradiation damage effect for the structures of nuclear power plant was also useful to investigate the strength evaluating of nonhomogeneous materials. In this paper, by means of a small punch test technique the possibility of evaluating strength of parent and welded region in SS41 and SM53B steels was investigated. The obtained results are summerized as follows: 1) The small punch test which showed markedly the ductile-brittle transition behavior in this experiment may be applied to evaluation for the fracture strength of welded region. 2) It was shown that the ductile-brittle regime lied in Region III(plastic membrane stretching region) of the flow characteristics observed in SP test. 3) The SP test technique which shows a more precipitous energy change transition behavior than the other test technique is able to estimate the more precise transition temperature. 4) It could be seen that in comparision with the structure of parent the structure of weld HAZ in SS41 steel was improved while it in SM53B steel was deteriorated.

Transient forebrain ischemia promotes a robust increase in neuroblast differentiation in the hippocampal dentate gyrus that peaks 7–15 days after the surgery. In this study, we compared the glucose transporter 3 (GLUT3)-dependent glucose utilization and the dynamin-1 (DNM1)- dependent neurite growth in the hippocampus of Mongolian gerbils 15 days after the induction of transient forebrain ischemia. The animals were subjected to a 5 min transient ischemia protocol and sacrificed 15 days after the surgery. Both doublecortin (DCX) immunoreactive neuroblasts and DCX total protein levels were abundantly increased in the ischemic group compared to the levels observed in the control group. In addition, animals in the ischemic group showed elevated GLUT3 immunoreactivity in the subgranular zone of the dentate gyrus compared to animals in the control group. Based on the double immunofluorescent study, increased DCX-immunoreactive neuroblasts were co-localized with GLUT3-immunoreactive components in the dentate gyrus. However, both the immunoreactivity and the total protein levels of DNM1 were significantly decreased in the dentate gyrus and hippocampal CA1 regions of the ischemic group. These results suggest that the regeneration process such as neurite growth is lacking in the hippocampus 15 days after ischemia/reperfusion although neuroblasts production and glucose utilization increased in the hippocampus.

It is difficult to explain the magnetic phase transition with classical physics in Curie temperature. We studied qualitatively with the well known Ising model in statistical mechanics. We simulated systems of finite size by Monte Carlo methods with Metropolis algorithm. Thus we could estimate the values of quantities such as the magnetization(m) per spin the specific heat(c) per spin the magnetic susceptibility(χ) per spin, and the mean energy per spin compare with the numerical values in infinitive size. The quantities of c, m, χ, e varied rapidly within 2.3∼2.4 temperature at J/k units. Those values show that the critical temperature can be within the range. The hysteresis loop was obtained with this model.

It was cleared in recent study that the SP(small punch) test technique may be applied to evaluating the proper strength of each weld structure. The ductile-brittle transition temperature(DBTT) of each weld structure and its shift(ΔDBTT) from parent material is one of the most useful measures of the fracture characteristics of steel weldment. In this study the ductile-brittle fracture mode transition behavior and their orientation effects of various microstructures for steel weldments were investigated by means of SP test technique in relation to DBTT behavior of COD test technique. The empirical correlation, (ΔDBTT)_SP ≃ 0.55(ΔDBTT)_COD, was developed between the ΔDBTT obtained from SP test and that obtained from COD test. In addition, there did not appear to be significant effects of test materials, microstructures of the welded region and specimen orientations etc. on the empirical correlation.
