        Down syndrome with asymptomatic neuroglial cyst: A case report and review of the literature

        Down syndrome (DS, trisomy 21) is associated with neuroanatomical abnormalities, including choroid plexus cysts and vari-ous types of brain tumors. Trisomy 21 is associated with oncogenic factor, especially in brain tumor. The brain of DS patients had a smaller volume of gray and white matter and an unbalanced cerebellum volume, indicating a smaller volume overall than normal. We report a case of a DS male patient who had an incidentally discovered neuroglial cyst in left cerebellar ver-mis. He visited our hospital with gait disturbance and fatigue. But, the neurologic exam was normal. To the best of our knowl-edge, this is the ἀrst reported case of a neuroglial cyst in a trisomy 21 patient. As the developmental mechanisms of a cyst and the choroid plexus are related, more research is needed.

      • Hydrogenolysis of alginic acid over mono- and bimetallic ruthenium/nickel supported on activated carbon catalysts with basic promoters

        Hydrogenolysis of alginic acid, derived from macroalgae, over Ru, Ni and Ru-Ni supported on activated carbon catalysts was performed using various basic promoters. Among the promoters used, NaOH provides the highest carbon efficiency and yield of glycols, such as ethylene glycol and 1,2-propanediol. In addition, various organic acids such as lactic acid, glycolic acid, and formic acid were produced in the form of salts. The hydrogenolysis of potential intermediates such as sorbitol, mannitol, lactic acid, and glycolic acid demonstrated direct conversion of alginic acid to glycols without sugar alcohols or organic acids as reaction intermediates. Furthermore, Ru-Ni bimetallic catalysts as a function of Ni/Ru molar ratio were used to increase the yield and selectivity of glycols. The highest yield of glycols, 24.1% was obtained when the Ni/Ru molar ratio was 1:1, due to the enhanced interaction between Ru and Ni based on H<sub>2</sub>-TPR.

      • GALK Hyperactivity로 인한 갈락토스혈증의 임상적 특성에 관한 연구

        Purpose: Galactose is metabolized to galactose-1-phosphate by galactokinase (GALK), galactose-1-phosphate uridyltransferase (GALT) and UDP-galactose-4-epimerase (GALE), and galactosemia occurs when each enzyme is deficient. In Korea, unlike foreign countries, classic galactosemia is rare and transient galactosemia due to GALK hyperactivity is reported, but studies on frequency, clinical significance, and genetic variation are lacking. In this study, we analyzed the clinical characteristics of patients with galactosemia due to GALK hyperactivity. Methods: We investigated 85 patients who had an elevated galactose level in the neonatal screening test without deficiency of enzymes at Department of Pediatrics, Seoul & Bucheon Soonchunhyang University Hospital from January 2008 to June 2016. We investigated the level of galactose, galactose-1-phosphate, GALK and duration of galactose normalization, and analyzed the correlation between GALK elevation and galactose, galactose-1-phosphate and duration of galactose normalization. And the levels of galactose, galactose-1-phosphate, and duration of galactose normalization were compared between the galactose-free formula feeding group and non-feeding group. Results: Mean age of visit was $26.7{\pm}16.1days$. Duration of galactose normalization was $35.3{\pm}20.5days$. Mean galactose level was $18.5{\pm}7.3mg/dL$ in the neonatal screening and follow-up galactose level in serum was $2.3{\pm}5.4mg/dL$. The mean value of galactose-1-phosphate was $6.0{\pm}4.7mg/dL$ and the mean GALK level was $3.84{\pm}1.28{\mu}mol/Hr/gHb$. There was no significant correlation between GALK levels and galactose levels in the neonatal screening test (P=0.351), and we analyzed the correlation between GALK levels and follow-up galactose levels in serum, there was no significant correlation (P=0.101). There was a significant correlation between GALK levels and galactose-1-phosphate (P=0.015), and the correlation between GALK levels and duration of galactose normalization was not statistically significant (P=0.176). 49% of the patients were fed galactose-free formula, and 45% were not. Galactose and galactose-1-phosphate levels in the neonatal screening test were statistically significantly higher (P=0.004, 0.034) in using galactose-free formula group. Duration of galactose normalization was not related to the use of galactose-free formula (P=0.266, 0.249). Conclusion: Galactosemia due to GALK hyperactivity seems to be a temporary phenomenon and may not require galactose restriction. More research is needed on the role of the nuclear protein, racial traits and genetic variations in Korean patients.

        AoIP/UDP 기반 오디오 통신의 다중 채널 Low-Latency 구현

        화재 재난방송 시스템에서는 아날로그, 디지털, 네트워크 디지털 전관 방송 시스템으로 나뉘며, 네트워크 디지털전광 방송 시스템에서 중요한 사양은 낮은 대기 시간(Low-latency), 높은 샘플링 레이트, 다채널 입출력이다. 기존에데이터링크 층의 MAC 주소 기반으로 구별하는 AoE(Audio over Ethernet) 방법을 널리 사용하고 있다. 그러나 이방법은 복잡성과 비용이 증가하는 문제가 있다. 이에 본 제안은 AoIP(Audio over Internet Protocol)/UDP 방식으로별도의 중복적인 네트워크가 필요 없이 IP(Internet Protocol) 주소로 손쉽게 구별하는 통신을 할 수 있어 네트워크를자유롭게 사용 구성하고 복잡도를 낮추어 비용을 낮출 수 있도록 제안한다. AoIP/UDP 방식으로 구현 후 실험결과2.66ms 대기 시간 성능으로 동등한 성능으로 비용의 개선함을 보였다.

        루테늄 담지 활성탄-마그네시아 혼합 촉매 상에서 알긴산의 저분자화 연구

        해조류 바이오매스 중 갈조류의 주요 구성 성분인 알긴산은 다양한 산업에서 널리 사용되어지며, 촉매적 저분자화를 통해 당, 당알코올, 퓨란계, 그리고 유기산과 같은 고부가가치 화합물로 전환할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 루테늄 담지 활성탄과 마그네시아를 혼합하여 알긴산 저분자화 반응에 적용하고자 하였다. 이러한 불균일계 촉매 시스템은 생성물에 대한 분리가 용이하고 정제 과정의 간소화가 장점으로 작용한다. 반응 결과, 탄소 수 5개 이하의 저분자량 알코올 및 유기산이 생성되었으며, 최적의 반응 조건 탐색을 통해 최종적으로 1 wt% 알긴산 수용액 30 mL, 루테늄 담지 활성탄 100 mg, 마그네시아 100 mg, 반응 온도 210 ℃, 반응 시간 1 h의 반응 조건에서 29.8%의 알코올에 대한 탄소 수율과 43.8%의 알코올 포함 액상 생성물에 대한 총 탄소 수율을 확보하였다. Biorefineries, in which renewable resources are utilized, are an eco-friendly alternative based on biomass feedstocks. Alginic acid, a major component of brown algae, which is a type of marine biomass, is widely used in various industries and can be converted into value-added chemicals such as sugars, sugar alcohols, furans, and organic acids via catalytic hydrothermal decomposition under certain conditions. In this study, ruthenium-supported activated carbon and magnesium oxide were mixed and applied to the depolymerization of alginic acid in a batch reactor. The addition of magnesium oxide as a basic promoter had a strong influence on product distribution. In this heterogeneous catalytic system, the separation and purification processes are also simplified. After the reaction, low molecular weight alcohols and organic acids with 5 or fewer carbons were produced. Specifically, under the optimal reaction conditions of 30 mL of 1 wt% alginic acid aqueous solution, 100 mg of ruthenium-supported activated carbon, 100 mg of magnesium oxide, 210 ℃ of reaction temperature, and 1 h of reaction time, total carbon yields of 29.8% for alcohols and 43.8% for a liquid product were obtained. Hence, it is suggested that this catalytic system results in the enhanced hydrogenolysis of alginic acid to value-added chemicals.

        ACPS 모형을 활용한 규제정책 변동과정 분석 : 그린벨트정책의 개발허용기를 중심으로

        본 연구의 목적은 그린벨트정책의 변동요인을 도출하는데 있다. 이를 위해 그린벨트 정책형성과정의 변동과정을 심도 있게 조명한다. 각 시기의 정책형성과정은 Sabatier의 옹호연합모형(ACF)과 Kingdon의 정책흐름모형(PSF)을 연구의 적합성을 위해 본인이 자체적으로 결합시킨 ACPS 모형을 통해 고찰한다. 그린벨트 정책형성과정을 ACPS 모형을 활용해 분석한 결과, 안정적인 외적변수는 둔화된 도시화, 도시주변의 환경보존으로서 그린벨트, 지방분권체제, 도시계획법이며, 역동적인 외적변수는 IMF 외환위기, 그린벨트 관련 시민단체의 등장 및 성장, 수평적 정권교체, 헌법재판소 그린벨트 헌법불합치 결정 등으로 나타났다. 이들에게 영향을 받은 개발옹호연합과 보존옹호연합은 사유재산권과 공유재산권을 각각 공유하며, 게임의 장에 임하게 된다. 결국 정치흐름인 [국민의 정부 100대 국정과제]가 1998년 1월에 발표되어 촉발기제로 작용함으로서 정책변동의 창이 열리게 된다. 정책전략, 결정을 거쳐 그린벨트가 최초로 구역해제되는 법적 근거인 [개발제한구역의 지정 및 관리에 관한 특별조치법]이 제정됨으로서 개발허용이 결정되기에 이르며, 이로 인해 정책변동의 창은 닫히고 정책변동이 발생하게 된다.

      • 1P-469 Catalytic depolymerization of lignin over transition metal supported ZSM-5 in supercritical ethanol

        The depolymerization of Protobind lignin into monoaromatic compounds was conducted with a batch reactor over transition metals supported on ZSM-5 catalysts in supercritical ethanol supplying in-situ hydrogen. It was observed that the trend of yields according to the amount of transition metal loading formed the volcano shape curve and had the linear correlation between yield of monoaromatic compounds and acid density. In addition, it was found that Cu metal among transition metals plays an important role in promoting the depolymerization of lignin. Cu/ZSM-5, which was loaded 10 wt.% Cu and was Si/Al<sub>2</sub> ratio of 30, resulted in the highest yield of monoaromatic compounds; 98.2 wt%. Meanwhile, HSQC NMR analysis provided the evidence about the promotion of the depolymerization of Protobind lignin by hydrogenolysis and the alkylation of monoaromatic compounds by ethanol.
