In order to determine the emplacement time and stratigraphic position of basaltic rocks in the central part of Pohang basin, palaeomagnetic investigations were conducted on 111 samples collected from 6 sites. Formation mean built from site-mean ChRM directions is $d=340.7^{\circ}$, $i=52.2^{\circ}$ (${\alpha}_{95}=6.0^{\circ}$, k=91) in the geographic coordinates. If "tilt" correction is applied regarding the plane perpendicular to the side walls of columnar joint as palaeohorizon, the formation mean becomes $d=328.7^{\circ}$, $i=43.8^{\circ}$ (${\alpha}_{95}=17.1^{\circ}$, k=13). It is to be noticed that the formation mean is deflected significantly (about $20{\sim}30^{\circ}$) counterclockwise from the Tertiary reference geomagnetic field of Eurasia, independent of "tilt" correction. This situation is very different from that of clockwise rotation of ChRM directions which has been ubiquitously observed in other Tertiary basins of south Korea, and indicates sinistral regional simple-shearing during the emplacement times of the basaltic rocks. Considering previous palaeomagnetic and AMS (anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility) data from other Tertiary regions of south Korea, the time of this sinistral shearing should be 15 Ma or directly thereafter, and this time point represents inversion from extensional to compressional tectonic regime. Magnetic foliation data obtained in this study indicate WNW-ESN compression during or directly after emplacement of the basaltic rocks, while it has known from regional tectonic study that the time of the WNW-ESN compression is about 15 Ma, when SW Honshu was rotated and the Korean strait was narrowed.
THE GLOBAL TREND OF RELIGIOUS-BASED SCHOOLS AND THE LITERARY APPROACH

The publicity of religious schools in the academic area of religious education is veryimportant issue. In this paper, the author focuses on global patterns concerning thepublicity of religious-based schools. In privately lead models of religious educationsuch as that of the United States, the main educational purpose of these religiousinstitutions is described as the idea of democratic education. In addition, the corevalue of state lead models such as European pattern of religious schooling is coveredwith religious diversity. However, the public character of these religious institutions inthe United States and European countries are limited by improperly responses to theexistential aspects of religious education which is the soul of religious-based schools. So, the author suggests the literary approach model of religious education as analternative. The teaching model of literary approach contributes to the useful solutionto enhance the subjective participation and interpretation between teacher and learner.

연구자는 국내 외국인학교의 종교교육을 그곳에서 수행되는 학습활동을 중심으로 살펴보았다. 외국인학교의 종교교육은 구성적 차원에서의 신앙과 도덕성이 유기적으로 긴밀하게 연결되어 있는 것으로 파악되었다. 특히, 종교적 다양성은 종교교육의 주된 교육내용을 형성하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 최근에는 종교교육이 세계관교육과 글로벌 환경에서 민주시민교육의 기본 소양을 체득하는 학습활동으로 발전하는 경향을 보이고 있다. 종교교육의 학습 현장에서 마주한 심층 대화에서 학습자들은 차이와 억압에 대한 새로운 대안적 종교교육의 모형을 선호하는 것으로 나타났다. 특히, 종교적이며 신앙적인 측면이 교육현장에서 지성적이며 합리적인 차원으로 재구성되는 설명 가능한 방식에 관심을 주목하였다. 이에 더하여서 타자와의 관계성이 종교교육의 현장에서는 초월적 가치와 긴밀하게 연결될 수 있다는 것이다. 또한 삶의 고통과 절망은 종교교육의 학습활동을 통해 자신의 삶을 성찰하는 창조적 계기로 작용하기도 했다. The connectedness between religious education and school activities is actively explored in many schools in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the European countries, and so on. I will study how both relationships are constructed in schools which have the membership of Korea Council of Overseas Schools. Basically, I think that religion education in kindergarten, elementary and secondary schools will be a positive and influential resource to form the healthy character and developmental identity in the class environment where educational participants experience cultural difference and conflict. Considering multi-cultural contexts, these factors can be regarded as special influential resources of academic perspective. Therefore the peaceful and hospitable school environment supported by religious education can be understood as positive role or function of academic perspective.
