        Identifying and Extracting Collocations in Corpus-based Study

        This article aims to identify and extract reasonable collocations. In order to find requirements of reasonable collocations, two approaches, namely one statistical Association Measures and the other near-synonyms relations are focused in this article. BNCweb and Sketch Engine are used, as these software are optimized for identifying and extracting collocations. Associations Measures like Mutual Information, t-score, Log-likelihood, Dice coefficient and logDice are operated and after examining, logDice could be considered the most suitable association measure in terms of both frequency and saliency. When discriminating collocations, grammatical relationships between the node of word and the collocate are helpful to compare collocations effectively and efficiently. In this article, the verbs(demand, claim, request and seek) which are near-synonyms and their collocates are discriminated in relation of subject + verb, object + verb and modifier + verb.

        다른 강도의 유산소 운동이 고지방 식이 유도 비만 쥐의 비알코올성 지방간에 미치는 영향

        Purpose: Although it is well known that caloric restriction and increasing energy consumption effectively improve nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), conducting both exercise and diet intervention is not easy to the obese person with NAFLD. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of regular low- and high-intensity aerobic exercise without dietary restriction on the alleviation of NAFLD in obese mice. Methods: Male C57BL/6 mice (30 weeks old) were divided into a Normal diet group (CO, n = 10) and a high-fat diet group (HF, n = 30), and the HF group was induced obesity by intake of 60% high-fat diet for 8 weeks. And then mice were randomly divided into HF + non-exercise group (HF, n = 10), HF + low-intensity aerobic exercise group (HFLT, n = 10), and HF + high-intensity aerobic exercise group (HFHT, n = 10), and the group of exercise was performed the treadmill training 5 days a week for 8 weeks while maintaining high-fat diet intake. Results: Lipogenic factors were significantly increased in the high-fat diet group compared to the CO group. Although aerobic exercise alone did not induce weight loss benefit, hepatic weight, fat droplets, and liver TG were relieved through upregulation of lipolytic factors such as AMPK phosphorylation and CPT-1. However, no difference in exercise intensity was observed for liver weight, lipid droplets, and liver TG reduction. Conclusion: Low-intensity aerobic exercise can be used as an early stage of exercise intervention for alleviating NAFLD in obese people, and it can also be recommended as a practical exercise method for obese patients whose cardiorespiratory endurance is observed to decrease. 연구목적: 칼로리 섭취 제한과 에너지 소비의 증가는 비알코올성 지방간(NAFLD)의 개선에 효과적이라고 잘 알려져 있지만, 실제로 비만 환자들에게는 있어 식이조절과 규칙적인 운동의 동시 수행은 매우 힘든 과정이기 때문에, 단계적인 노력이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 고지방 식이로 비만이 유도된 쥐를 대상으로 식이조절 없이 규칙적인 저강도와 고강도 유산소 운동의 단독처치가 NAFLD 완화에 미치는 영향에 대해 알아보자 한다. 연구방법: 30주령의 수컷 C57BL/6 쥐들은 일반식이 섭취군 (CO, n = 10)과 고지방식이 섭취군 (HF, n = 30)으로 분류하였으며, HF군은 60%의 고지방 식이를 8주간 섭취하여 비만이 유도되었다. 비만이 유도된 HF군은 무작위로 HF+비운동군(HF, n = 10), HF+저강도 유산소운동군(HFLT, n = 10), 그리고 HF+고강도 유산소운동군(HFHT, n = 10)으로 분류하였으며, 고지방 식이 섭취를 유지한 채 주 8주간 주 5일 유산소 운동을 실시하였다. 결과: 지방합성 관련 인자는 고지방 식이 섭취군에서 일반식이군에 비해 유의하게 증가한 것으로 나타났다. 유산소 운동의 단독처치는 체중의 감소를 유도하지 못하였음에도 불구하고, AMP-activated protein kinase의 인산화와 carnitine palmitoyl transferase-1의 상향조절을 통해 간의 무게, 지방방울, 그리고 간 TG를 완화시켰다. 하지만 간의 무게와 지방방울, 그리고 간 TG 감소에 대한 운동강도의 차이는 관찰되지 않았다. 결론: 저강도 유산소 운동은 비만인의 NAFLD 완화를 위한 초기 운동중재로써 사용될 수 있으며, 또한 심폐지구력의 저하가 관찰되는 비만환자들을 위한 효과적인 운동방법으로 추천될 수 있다.

        A Corpus-based Collocation Analysis of Discriminating among Near-synonyms - complex, complicated, intricate and elaborate

        This research investigates the collocational behaviors and semantic preferences to discriminate among near-synonyms. The research focuses on the nominal collocates of near-synonymous adjectives(complex, complicated, intricate, and elaborate) in terms of the overall usage patterns of collocates, semantic preferences of collocates, and shared collocates. Based on data collected from Brown and LOB corpus, Words analyzes frequency patterns of near-synonyms, and GraphColl builds and visualizes the collocation networks, which provide important insights into meaning relationships. Also, WordNet online is operated to group the collocates of each near-synonymous adjective into definable semantic categories. Findings from the research revealed there are some similarities and differences among four adjectives; firstly, they had different frequency patterns across genres, and secondly, they tended to appear selectively with the collocates indicating particular semantic preferences despite vagueness in accurately capturing and classifying meanings neatly. Lastly, they had some shared collocates which show some common semantic preferences.

        유산소 운동 강도가 아동기 비만 쥐의 비알코올성 지방간 완화에 미치는 영향

        Purpose Most studies on nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) focused on the subject in middle-aged or elderly adults. However, the negative effects of temporary high-fat diet may differ according to age, and the effective intensity of exercise for alleviation of NAFLD may also differ according to age. The purpose of this study was to examine the changes in hepatic steatosis caused by temporary high-fat diet and to analyze the effect of aerobic exercise intensity on NAFLD in young-aged mice. Methods 4 weeks old male C57BL/6 mice were classified into a normal diet group (CO, n = 8) or a high-fat diet group (HF, n = 24). HF group consumed a high-fat diet for 8 weeks. After then, HF group was randomly assigned to the HF+non-exercise group (HF, n = 8), HF+low-intensity aerobic exercise group (HFLE, n = 8), and HF+high-intensity aerobic exercise group (HFHE, n = 8). The mice in the exercise group conducted aerobic exercise 5 times a week for 8 weeks at their exercise intensity. Results After 8 weeks of high-fat diet, body weight, liver weight, liver TG, and liver lipid droplets in the HF group were significantly increased. However, although fat synthesis-related factors were still high, regular exercise was effective in relieving fatty liver by increasing carnitine palmitoyl transferase-1 and phospho AMP-activated protein kinase proteins. In addition, high-intensity aerobic exercise effectively reduced liver TG and lipid droplets compared to low-intensity aerobic exercise. Conclusion High-intensity aerobic exercise was more effective in alleviating NAFLD than low-intensity exercise by decreasing the liver weight and liver TG. Therefore, high-intensity exercise can be recommended as an effective exercise for alleviating NAFLD in childhood. 연구목적 NAFLD에 관한 대부분의 연구는 중년 또는 노년 등의 성인에게 초점을 맞추고 있다. 하지만 일시적인 고지방 식이섭취로 인한 부정적인 효과는 연령에 따라 다르게 나타날 수 있으며, 또한 NAFLD를 완화하기 위한 효과적인 운동 강도 역시 연령에 따라 다를 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 아동기 쥐의 일시적인 고지방 식이 섭취로 인한 간 지방증의 변화를 살펴보고, 유산소 운동 강도가 NAFLD에 미치는 영향을 분석하고자 하였다. 연구방법 4주령의 수컷 C57BL/6 쥐를 분양받아, 일반식이 섭취군 (CO, n = 8)과 고지방식이 섭취군 (HF, n = 24)으로 분류하였다. HF군은 8주간의 고지방 식이를 섭취하였으며, 그 후, HF군의 쥐들은 무작위로 HF+비운동군(HF, n = 8), HF+저강도 유산소운동군(HFLE, n = 8), 그리고 HF+고강도 유산소운동군(HFHE, n = 8)으로 분류하였다. 운동군의 쥐들은 자신의 운동강도로 8주간 주 5회의 유산소 운동을 실시하였다. 결과 고지방식이 8주 후 HF 그룹의 체중, 간 무게, 간 TG 및 간 지방 방울이 유의하게 증가했다. 그러나 규칙적인 운동은 지방합성 관련인자를 유의하게 증가시켰지만, carnitine palmitoyl transferase-1과 phospho AMP-activated protein kinase 단백질을 증가시킴으로써, 지방간 완화에 효과적인 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 고강도 운동은 저강도 운동에 비해 간 TG 및 지방 방울 감소에 효과적인 것으로 나타났다. 결론 고강도 유산소 운동은 저강도 운동보다 간의 무게와 간 TG를 현저하게 감소시킴으로써 NAFLD 완화에 더 효과적이었다. 따라서 아동기에 NAFLD를 완화시키는 효과적인 운동으로 고강도 운동을 권장할 수 있음을 제안한다.

        Exercise and dietary change ameliorate high fat diet induced obesity and insulin resistance via mTOR signaling pathway

        (Purpose) The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of exercise and dietary change on obesity and insulin resistance and mTOR signaling protein levels in skeletal muscles of obese rats. (Methods) Sixty male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into CO (Normal diet) and HF (High Fat diet) groups in order to induce obesity for 15 weeks. The rats were then subdivided into CO, COT (CO + Training), HF, HFT (HF + Training), HFND (Dietary change), and HFNDT (HFND + Training) groups (10 rats / group). The training groups underwent moderate-intensity treadmill exercise for 8 weeks, after which soleus muscles were excised and analyzed. Data was statistically analyzed by independent t-test and One-way ANOVA tests with a 0.05 significance level. (Results) Fasting blood glucose, plasma insulin, and HOMA-IR in the HF group were significantly higher, as compared with other groups (p <.05). Protein levels of insulin receptor subunit-1 (IRS-1), IRS-2, and p-Akt were significantly higher in the HFT, HFND, and HFNDT groups, as compared with HF group. In addition, the protein levels of the mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1) and ribosomal S6 protein kinase 1 were significantly decreased by exercise and dietary change (p <.05). However, mTORC2 and phosphoinositide 3-kinase were significantly increased (p <.05). (Conclusion) In summary, despite the negative impact of continuous high fat intake, regular exercise and dietary change showed a positive effect on insulin resistance and mTOR signaling protein levels.

        Effects of Branched-Chain Amino Acid and Glutamine Supplementation on Angiogenic Factors and Pro-Inflammatory Cytokines after Acute Exercise in Adolescence Athletes

        [OBJECTIVES] The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes in the concentration of blood angiogenic factors and pro-inflammatory cytokines during acute exercise after the administration of branched-chain amino acid (BCAA) and glutamine. [METHODS] All 7 adolescent male athletes performed 2000 m rowing exercise after the completion of each of three different 7-day treatments; non-treatment (CO); a total daily dose of BCAA 3.15 g (1.05g×3) (BCAA); or both a total daily dose of BCAA 3.15 g (1.05 g × 3) and glutamine 6 g (2 g × 3) (BC+GLU). There was a 30-day rest period between each treatment. After intake of amino acids for 7 days, the participants completed the rowing exercise on day 8, and their blood samples were collected (at resting state, Rest; immediately after exercise, Ex0; and 30 min after the exercise, Ex30) and were analyzed using ELISA. [RESULTS] The concentration of Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) increased in the BCAA and BC+GLU treatment groups compared to that at Rest in the CO group (p<0.05). Interleukin-6 (IL-6) increased at Ex0 compared to that at Rest in the CO and BCAA treatment groups (p<0.05), and significantly decreased at Ex30 compared to that at Ex0 in the BCAA treatment group (p<0.05). However, significant differences were not observed in BC+GLU at Ex0 and Ex30 compared to at Rest. IL-8 also significantly increased at Ex0 compared to at Rest, and significantly decreased at Ex30 compared to at Ex0 in CO (p<0.05). However, the blood IL-8 level in BCAA and BC+GLU were not altered by acute exercise. [CONCLUSIONS] This study suggested that the administrations of BCAA and/or glutamine have enough to induce increase of VEGF concentration and inhibited the increase of pro-inflammatory cytokines after acute exercise in adolescence athletes.

        대학생의 폐활량에 대한 기초체력과 신체활동량의 관계

        본 연구의 목적은 한국 대학생들의 기초체력과 신체활동량이 폐기능과 상관관계가 있는지를 분석하고, 성별에 따른 차이를 검증하는데 있다. 건강한 참여자 312명(남성 150명[평균연령: 19.29±1.72세], 여성 160명[평균연령: 19.05±1.17세])은 신체조성, 기초체력, 신체활동량 설문지, 그리고 노력성폐활량 (FVC)과 1초간 강제호기량(FEV1)의 폐기능 검사를 수행하였다. 연구결과, 남학생의 폐기능은 우악력과 좌악력, 그리고 배근력과 관련이 있었고, 여학생의 폐기능은 모든 기초체력 하위 요인과 관련이 있었다. 또한 여성의 폐기능은 중강도 신체활동량과 관련이 있는 반면 남성의 폐기능은 신체활동량의 모든 하위 요인과 관련이 있었다. 본 연구의 주요 발견은 폐기능을 개선하기 위해서 남학생은 신체활동량을 증가시키고, 여학생은 기초체력을 향상시킬 필요가 있음을 제안한다. 대학생들의 폐기능을 유지하고 개선시키기 위해서는 폐기능 관련 인자에 대한 성별의 차이를 이해하고, 성별에 맞는 교육적 노력이 필요할 것이다. The purpose of this study was to analyze the correlation between pulmonary function, basic physical fitness (PF), and physical activity (PA), and to compare the differences by gender in Korean college students. Measurements of body composition, basic PF, PA (questionnaire), and pulmonary function tests of forced vital capacity (FVC) and forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1) using a Quark pulmonary function test were carried out on 312 healthy participants (150 males [mean age: 19.29±1.72 years] and 162 females [mean age: 19.05±1.17 years]). The pulmonary function of male students was related to right-handedness, left-handedness, and back strength, and the pulmonary function of female students was related to all basic PF. The pulmonary function of male students was related to all PA variables, whereas the pulmonary function of female students was related to middle-intensity PA. The findings of this study suggest that male students need to increase PA, and female students need to improve basic PF to sustain a healthy pulmonary function. Understand gender differences for pulmonary function-related factors and the gender-specific educational efforts are needed to improve and maintain pulmonary capacity in college students.

        뇌실-복강간 단락술에서 Proximal Catheter의 정확한 측뇌실내로의 위치를 위한 Shunt Guiding Kit의 개발

        Object : To treat hydrocephalus by ventriculo-peritoneal shunt operation, the correct positioning of the proximal catheter in the ventricle is very important. The purpose of this study was to develop the "shunt guiding kit" for the proper positioning of the proximal shunt catheter to the ventricle in the ventriculo-peritoneal shunt operation. Materials and Methods: The "shunt guiding kit" is made of tungsten alloy and it consists of one frame, two screws and one guider. Through the guider, the proximal shunt catheter operates by mechanically coupling the posterior burr hole to the anterior target point. Results: We have treated three hydrocephalus patients with use of the "shunt guiding kit", and achieved good location of proximal shunt catheters. Conclusion: We developed the "shunt guiding kit" for the proper positioning of the proximal shunt catheter to the ventricle, and this would be very useful for preventing ventriculo-peritoneal shunt malfunction and preventing possible brain injury during the procedures.
