A number of brain imaging and human lesion studies suggest an involvement of the cerebellum in various cognitive functions. A 60-year-old woman developed dizziness due to cerebellar infarction. One month later, she developed cognitive decline, delusion, irritability, impulsive and violent behavior. Cognitive and behavioral symptom onset, neuroimaging findings and neuropsychological test led us to the diagnosis of cerebellar cognitive affective syndrome.

Internuclear ophthalmoplegia (INO) is caused by a lesion involving the medial longitudinal fasciculus (MLF) that interconnects the ocular motor nuclei. A 65-year-old woman with diabetes for twenty years developed diplopia, nausea, and vomiting one day before the presentation to the emergency room. Examination revealed adduction impairment of the right eye, combined with dissociated abducting nystagmus in the left eye. Other findings of the neuro-logical examination were normal. T2-weighted brain magnetic resonance imaging showed a hyperintensity lesion in right medial pons where the MLF locates. INO may be an isolated manifestation of pontine infarction.

Hypertensive encephalopathy is a medical emergency of which clinical manifestations are associated with bilateral posterior cerebral lesions. However, neuroimaging findings have been reported in only a few cases. We describe a case of hypertensive encephalopathy in which high blood pressure was accompanied by headache, generalized seizure and mental deterioration and T2 weighted magnetic resonance images showed hyperintense lesions in the pons and left occipital lobe. The lesions were nearly disappeared after stabilization of blood pressure, suggesting that induced edema could be the main cause of the MR imaging-observed hyperintensity.

From April to October 2001, we studied on vegetation of 60 plots through the methods of Braun-Blanquet at Cheonsaengsan, Yuhaksan and Supdemisan in Gyeongbuk. Through the methods of interspecific affinity analysis, DECORANA and TWINSPAN the patterns of plant communities of 60 were analysed. It showed 6 communities at Cheonsaengsan, 5 communities at Yuhaksan, 6 communities at Supdemisan and total appearance of 128 species and covered with 50∼95% of tree layer, 20∼90% of shrub layer, 20∼90% of herb layer. As the result of interspecific affinity analysis it showed one big specific complex composed with 52 species and the 60 plots were divided into 4 groups by classification and ordination. One big species complex as a result of affinity analysis and eigenvalue of 0.303 at first step by classification indicate that Cheonsaengsan, Yuhaksan and Supdemisan are in developing stage of succession.

A 17-year-old man came to the hospital because of seizure attack. He had complained headache, febrile sensation, and general weakness for 1 week. He had diagnosed as tuberculous meningitis with multiple tuberculomas. Treatment was started with first-line antituberculosis treatment. However, the size of tuberculomas was increased after 2 months. Ofloxacin treatment 400mg bid was then added. 14 months later, the MRI showed that the tuberculomas had decreased in size.
경북 유학산, 천생산과 성암산 일대의 식물군락유형 분석

At the area of Yuhak, Cheonsaeng and Seongam mountains in Kyeongbuk, we studied the vegetation patterns with 75 plots on the base of Braun-Blanquet methods from March to October 2002. For the analysis of community patterns with 75 plots we used interspecies Affinity analysis method, DECORANA and TWINSPAN. The investigated area was divided into 17 communities with 177 species, and 20∼100% of treelayer, 10∼95% of shrublayer and 20∼100% of herblayer. By toe method of affinity analysis, it showed a big community with 86 species, but divided into 6 small groups by ordination and classification methods. Although it appeared as one group by the affinity test, the area divided into two groups by classification method at second level with eigenvalue of 0.320 and 0.430. It shows that the area of Yuhak, Cheonsaeng and Seongam mountains have own properties and in the process of succession.
