        측면 식각된 LED의 광추출 효율에 관한 연구

        AIGaInP/GaP 계열 고휘도 LED의 광추출효율을 높이기 위하여 평행직육면체 다이스 측면을 식각할 경우에, 식각 깊이와 각도가 광추출효율에 미치는 영향을 재료의 흡수계수와 전극의 반사 및 흡수율에 따라 해석하고 공정의 용이성을 고려한 광추출효율의 개선이 기대되는 측면 식각깊이와 식각각도를 고찰하였다. 그 결과 결함 등에 의한 재료의 흡수계수가 0~1 $cm^{-1}$ / 이 되도록 발광다이오드 재료의 결정을 성장시켰을 경우, 전극을 고려하지 않은 LED의 기하구조의 변화를 통한 광추출효율개선 효과를 얻기 위해서 측면의 식각각도는 22$^{\circ}$~45$^{\circ}$로 하고 식각깊이는 다이스 높이의 8%~17%로 할 때 전극을 고려하지 않은 TIP 구조 LED의 80%에 해당하는 광추출효율을 얻을 수 있고, 식각깊이를 다이스 높이의 16%~39%로 하면 전극을 고려하지 않은 TIP 구조 LED의 90%에 해당하는 광추출효율을 얻을 수 있다. 전극의 영향을 고려할 경우 LED의 기하구조의 변화를 통한 광추출효율 개선 효과를 얻기 위해서 측면의 식각각도는 25$^{\circ}$~45$^{\circ}$로 하고 식각깊이는 다이스 높이의 30%~36% 로 할 때 전극을 고려한 TIP 구조 LED의 90%에 해당하는 광추출효율을 얻을 수 있고, 식각깊이를 다이스 높이의 57%~71%로 하면 전극을 고려한 TIP구조 LED의 90%에 해당하는 광추출효율을 얻을 수 있음을 밝혔다. In the case of a AIGalnP/GaP system rectangular parallelepiped high brightness LED which has side walls etched to be slanted off the vertical direction, we have studied the effects of lossy electrodes and material absorption and etching depth and angle of side walls on its light extraction efficiency. If LEDs have no electrodes, in order to obtain an 80% light extraction efficiency of a TIP (truncated inverted pyramid) LED, the side-etched LEDs should have an etching angle of 22$^{\circ}$~45$^{\circ}$ and an etching depth of 8~17% of a dice height and an absorption coefficient less than 1 $cm^{-1}$ / In case of etching depth of 16~39% of a dice height, we can obtain a 90% light extraction efficiency of a TIP LED. But when LEDs have two electrodes and no absorption loss, in order to obtain an 80% light extraction efficiency of a TIP LEBs, the side-etched LEDs should have an etching angle of 25$^{\circ}$-45$^{\circ}$ and an etching depth of 30~36% of a dice height. In case of etching depth of 57~71% of a dice height, we can obtain a 90% light extraction efficiency of a TIP LED.

        어린이집 휘발성 유기화합물의 건강 위해성 평가에 관한 연구

        Volatile organic compounds(VOCs) detected frequently in the indoor air of child-care centers causes neurological disorders, lung, eyes, and bronchial irritation, and acute and chronic toxicity. In this study, the distributions of carcinogenic VOCs detected in child-care centers were characterized and a health risk assessment of the VOCs was performed, which can provide the necessary information for drawing up safety plans with respect to the concerned materials. The sampling of sites in day-care centers was undertaken two times: in the morning (10:00~12:00), and afternoon(16:00~20:00)-at 23 daycare centers located in Seoul, Korea from April, 2012 to July, 2012. The overall average concentrations of individual VOCs were benzene(1.61 μg/m3) > carbon tetrachloride (0.78 μg/m3) > chloroform(0.67 μg/m3) in order. Indoor/outdoor(I/O) ratios of benzene, carbon tetrachloride, chloroform were 1.33, 1.09, 1.72, respectively. Benzene and carbon tetrachloride are thought to be more strongly associated with outdoor sources as compared to chloroform. Spearman correlation of benzene, carbon tetrachloride between indoor and outdoor concentration showed statistically significant levels(p < 0.05). The linear correlations for benzene, styrene, and carbon tetrachloride were tested. A significant correlation was observed only for carbon tetrachloride, accounting for 83 % of the variance. The risk assessment of the carcinogenic VOCs for teachers, infants, and children showed that none of the targeted VOCs posed a serious risk.

      • 서울시 일부 어린이집 실내공기 중 휘발성 유기화합물질의 평가분석

        The children of daycare center are sensitive to indoor envi ronmental pollution. This study was a prelimi nary investigation for improving the environmental and healthy Quality of daycare centers. The sampling of sites in daycare centers was undertaken three times such as day-morning (10:00-12:00), aftemoon (16:00-20:00), following dawn (04:00-08:00)-at 21 daycare centers located in Seoul, Korea from April, 2012 to July, 2012. The mean concentrations of TVOC were 255.2, 217.0, and 439.4 æ1m3 at moming, aftemoon, and following dawn, respectively. The daycare center indoor/ outdoor ratios on the most targeted volatile organic compounds were above 1.0 except that for carbon tetrachloride, which was almost 1.0. Significant correlations (p<0.01) were observed between indoor and outdoor carbon tetrachloride, which implies that indoor carbon tetrachloride could be largely accounted for by outdoor sources. The other targeted indoor volatile organic compounds such as benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, styrene, xylenes, chloroform showed no significant correlations with that of outdoor.

      • 흡인성 폐렴 환자에서 발생한 베르니케 뇌병증 1예

        Wernicke`s encephalopathy is a neurologic complication of thiamine deficiency, presenting with acute confusion, oculomotor dysfunction, and gait ataxia. While most often associated with chronic alcoholism, Wernicke`s encephalopathy occasionally occurs in the setting of poor nutritional status, such as malabsorption, increased metabolic requirements, or increased loss of the water-soluble vitamins. Patients with critical illnesses can present with excessive catabolic status because of activation of the sympathetic nervous system and the pituitary-adrenal axis. In addition, inappropriate nutritional evaluation and lack of concerns for adequate nutrient support can increase the morbidity and mortality in such patients. However, the importance of adequate nutritional support is often disregarded during treatment of the patient`s primary illness. We have recently managed a patient with Wernicke`s encephalopathy and pneumonia who did not receive adequate nutritional support during hospitalization. We report this case to call attention to the importance of nutritional support in critically ill patients.
