The purpose of this study was to investigate the possibility of application of leisure experience to existential phenomenology. The author wanted to inquire into meanings of leisure experience from the aspect of existential phenomenology. It was founded that Ponty`s body-subject and Marcel`s viewpoint of body concept offered implications in terms of three points to leisure concept. They are as follows : 1. The phenomenological concept of the Ponty`s body-subject needs to be understood as an embodied consciousness in leisure concept. For Merleau-Ponty and Gabriel Marcel, the viewpoint of body-subject means an active subject which indicates the world establishing a meaningful relationship with it. 2. From a subjective and qualitative viewpoint, leisure experience by oneself should be regarded as an important factor in itself. It suggests that unity of body and mind, self absorption and overcome, and peak experience could be obtained from leisure experience. 3. The process of leisure activities can be considered as flow experience of movement and activity which hopefully will enhance this at homeness with the environment rather than being alienated from it. This at homeness comes from a preconscious, prereflective, and intimate knowledge of our body themselves. In conclusion, the author proposes that the existential phenomenology in leisure could be perceived by themselves as embodied consciousness.
