In this study, a thick-film semiconductor odor gas sensor for the detection of CH₃SH was developed using SnO₂ as the main substrate and was Investigated in terms of Its sensitivity and reaction time In the process of manufacturing the sensor, Tagucht's design of experiment (DOE) was applied to analyze the effects of a variety of parameters, including the substrate, the additives and the fabrication conditions, systematically and effectively Eight trials or experiments could be possible using the 2^7 orthogonal array for the seven factors and two levels or condition, which originally demands 128 trials of experiments without DOE The additives of Sb₂O_(5) and PdCl₂ With the H₂PtCl_(6)ㆍ6H₂O catalyst were appeared to be Important factors to Improve the sensitivity, and CuO, Sb₂O_(5) V₂O_(5) and PdO were less Important In addition, T1O₂, V₂O5 and PdO would Improve the reaction time of a sensor, and CuO, Sb₂O5, PdCl₂ and H₂PtCl_(6)ㆍ6H₂O were negligible Being evaluated simultaneously in terms of both sensitivity and reaction time, the sensor showed the higher performance with the addition of T₁O₂ and PdO, but the opposite results with the addition of CuO, V₂O_(5), Sb₂O_(5) and PdCl₂ The amount of additives were superior in the case of 1 % than 4% H₂PtCl_(6)ㆍ6H₂O would play an important role for the increase of sensor performance as a catalyst
고속도강 드릴 가공에서의 플랭크 마모가 공구수명에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

For tool wear sensing to predict tool life, in the drilling of steel(SM45C) using H·S·S drills of 10.4mm dia. at V=22.5m/min(690rpm), f=0.1mm/rev, the results obtained are as follows ; 1) High-speed steel drill life is found to be a strong function of the work material hardness(T??αH??) when drillin steel(SM45C). 2) It would be advisable to predetermine the tool life criteria when theaverage flank wear is reached the region where flank wear occurrs at agradually increasing rate(V??≒0.10mm). 3) Using orthogonal cutting model, equations to calculate torque(M) and thrust(T) generated during a drilling operation with gradual tool wear are obtained. 갑상선 조직 전체가 설기저부에 발생한 이소성 설갑상선 증례를 경험하였기에 그 방사선학적 소견을 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하고자 한다. 증례는 59세 여자 환자로 40 일전부터 발생한 음성 변화를 주소로 내원하였다. 이학적 검사에서 설 기지부 중앙에 회백색의 격막에 둘러 쌓인 3 cm 가량의 종괴가 있었으며, 종괴는 내장으로 돌출하여 구인두를 막고 있었다. 경부 전산화 단층촬영 측면 정찰 촬영에서, 설 기저부에 후방으로 돌출하여 구인두를 막고 있는 경계가 분명한 연부조직 종괴가 보였으며, 전산화 단층촬영 동맥기와 정맥기에 주변의 혈관과 비슷한 강하고 균일한 조영증강을 보이는 장경 2.5 cm의 원형 종괴가 있었다. 또한 갑상선이 있어야 할 경부 전방 공간에서 정상 갑상선 조직은 전혀 보이지 않았다. 설 기저부의 종괴에서 생검을 시행하였으며 병리 검사에서 갑상선 조직으로 진단되어 설갑상선으로 확진되었다. The authors report a case of ectopic thyroid that whole thyroid tissue was replaced by lingual thyroid. A 59-year-old female presented with dysphonia duration of 40 days. On physical examination, there was a 3 cm sized well encapsulated whitish mass protruding to oral cavity in milline of tongue to base. Computerized tomography of neck revealed homogeneously enhancing well marginated 2.5 cm sized round mass in the cecum of tongue base on arterial and venous phase. And there was no normal thyroid gland in lower anterior neck.
F-18 FDG-Avid Intrathyroidal Parathyroid Adenoma Mimicking Follicular Neoplasm

A 64-year-old woman was biochemically diagnosed with hyperparathyroidism. Technetium-99m sestamibi parathyroid scan demonstrated persistent uptake in the left lower pole of the thyroid. She underwent F-18 FDG PET due to unrelated causes. Incidentally, we found focal FDG accumulation in the lower portion of left thyroid lobe. An ultrasound showed a 2.2-cm nodule containing cystic component in the left lower pole of the thyroid. The intact PTH level in the cystic fluid was much higher than the serum intact PTH level, suggesting an intrathyroidal parathyroid adenoma. Left lobectomy revealed an intrathyroidal parathyroid adenoma in the left thyroid lobe.
Inhibitory effects of natural plants of Jeju Island on elastase and MMP-1 expression.

<P>In order to search for new active cosmetic ingredients of natural origin, we screened about 60 plants collected from Jeju Island, which is located in the southernmost part of the Republic of Korea. We investigated their free radical scavenging activity, elastase inhibition activity, and reduction of MMP-1 mRNA expression for the development of anti-aging ingredients as raw materials for use in cosmetics. In the free radical scavenging capacity assay, 12 extracts, including Typha orientalis (seed) and Torreya nucifera (leaf), showed significant free radical scavenging activity (up to SC(50)<30 microg/ml). Among these extracts, Nymphaea tetragona (rhizome) extract showed the highest free radical scavenging activity (SC(50)=4.7 microg/ml). In the anti-elastase inhibition assay, seven extracts, including Typha orientalis (seed) and Persicaria hydropiper (whole plant), showed high inhibitory activity (>50% at 100 mug/ml). Among these extracts, Persicaria hydropiper (whole plant) extract showed the highest elastase inhibition activity (IC(50) = 46.7 mug/ml). In the MMP-1 expression assay using RT-PCR, Typha orientalis (seed), Pyrrosia hastata (root), and Capsicum annum (whole plant) showed slightly lower inhibition activity than EGCG, which was used as a control. Furthermore, four extracts, including Persicaria hydropiper (whole plant), Filipendula glaberrima (root), Nymphaea tetragona (root), and Camellia japonica (leaf), completely inhibited the expression of MMP-1 in human fibroblast cells. The results showed that four of the 60 plant extracts may hold potential for use as natural active ingredients for anti-aging cosmetics.</P>
