        傳播學視角下的韓國綜藝節目字幕飜譯硏究 ― 以≪尋笑人≫爲例

        本文從傳播學的角度,以優酷平台提供的韓國語言類?笑綜藝節目≪尋笑人≫爲例,根据可譯性障碍和時間空間限制理論,從字幕飜譯的角度探討了其在中國收視狀況不佳的原因。 綜藝節目包含各種本國文化因素,字幕如何淺顯易?地傳遞文化內容,引起觀衆的共鳴與關注,是字幕飜譯硏究領域的重要課題。本文第二部分重点論述了綜藝節目的域外傳播和字幕飜譯之間的關系,發現綜藝節目的對外輸出與傳播同字幕飜譯的質量有着不可分割的關系,同時也發現由于可譯性限制以及時空限制的存在,在進行字幕飜譯時,會遇到諸多障碍。本文第三部分以韓國?笑綜藝節目≪尋笑人≫爲例,從可譯性障碍和時空限制兩個角度,對其字幕飜譯進行了分析。指出由于語言結構文字障碍、慣用法障碍、表達法障碍及文化障碍的存在,在進行字幕飜譯時,衆多韓國語式幽默難以得到有效轉換,再加之時空限制對字幕飜譯簡潔凝練的要求,最終影響了綜藝節目的域外傳播。 希望本論文能勾爲今后字幕飜譯工作者提供一定的理論依据和借鑒,能勾爲字幕飜譯相關硏究的發展貢獻一定力量的同時,對韓國綜藝節目的對外輸出和其?國家綜藝節目的引進提供一定的參考。 This paper explores the impact of subtitle translation of Korean variety shows on dissemination abroad, takes the humorous Korean variety show ‘People Looking for a Laugh’ as an example, and probes the reasons for its the poor viewing in China in the perspective of subtitle translation based on the theories of translatable obstructions and limitation of time and space. The introduction part of the paper teases out the current situation of Korean variety shows in China and documents related to the Korean variety shows and finds out that few scholars discuss and study the dissemination abroad of variety shows in the perspective of subtitle translation. Therefore, the second part of the paper focuses on the relationship between dissemination abroad and subtitle translation of variety shows and discovers that the exports of variety shows is inextricably linked with the quality of subtitle translation and meanwhile due to translatable obstructions and limitation of time and space there will be many obstacles in subtitle translation, In consequence, the third part of the paper takes the humorous Korean variety show ‘People Looking for a Laugh’ as an example and analyses subtitle translation in the perspective of translatable obstructions and limitation of time and space. Through analysis, it is found that many Korean-style humour cannot be effectively converted during subtitle translation due to formal-structural obstruction, usage obstruction, presentation obstruction and cultural obstruction. Besides, the limitation of time and space restricts the conciseness of subtitle translation, which ultimately influences the dissemination abroad of the variety shows. Through the research on the relationship between subtitle translation and dissemination abroad of variety shows, it is hoped that this paper can provide some theoretical basis and reference for future subtitle translators and that while contributing to the development of related research on subtitle translation, this paper will provide reference for the export of Korean variety shows and the introduction of variety shows in other countries.

        중한 영상 자막 번역

        This paper first discusses the technical aspects of the subtitle translation program and the contents of the video subtitle translation. Then, on the basis of the translation theory of German telegraphic translation scholars Hans Vermeer and Katherina, he translated subtitles for the Chinese entertainer program “偶像來了”, it is divided into four translation methods: abbreviation, clarification, comment, and naturalization. The results of translation and analysis of subtitles are as follows. First, although the translation method is classified into four methods of abbreviation, clarification, comment, and naturalization, there are many cases where translation methods such as abbreviation and naturalization are mixed so that it is not easy to distinguish clearly in actual translation. Second, due to the characteristics of entertainment programs, Internet terms that are popular in China are widely used. In translating them, translators should investigate their meaning carefully and search for proper Korean translation. Third, we have to study the genre of video material that should be subtitle translated. The data analyzed in this paper is Chinese entertainment program. Therefore, by watching the Korean entertainment program before translating it, it is possible to provide the subtitle translation which can be accepted by the Korean audience naturally by learning the form and the expression of the subtitle. Vermeer said that the purpose of the translation was to determine the translation method. In every film subtitle translation, the purpose of the translation will be determined according to the genre of the video and the translation method will be determined accordingly. Therefore, the translator should try hard so that it becomes the most ‘suitable’ translation to object audience, not unconditional ‘equivalent’ translation.

      • 한국 역사드라마의 중국어 자막번역 오류 분석: 「옷소매 붉은 끝동」의 사례를 중심으로

        In this paper, we analyzed the errors in the translation of Chinese subtitles in the Korean historical drama 'The Red Sleeve' and discussed the cause of the error and ways to improve it. The subject of the investigation in this paper is the Chinese subtitle translation provided by Korean Fan Subtitle Translation Team, which belongs to the fan sub translation. According to my observation, the translation of Korean drama fan sub subtitles in China has the following three characteristics. First, the translation takes place in a short time. Second, it is a inter semiotic translation that have the characteristics of spoken and written translation at the same time.. Third, it is the result of group work. Due to these characteristics, translation of Korean dramas into Chinese subtitles is bound to cause much more errors than general translation. Based on these characteristics of Korean drama fansub subtitle translation, this paper proposes the framework for error analysis of Korean drama subtitle translation as follows. Subtitle translation errors are divided into two types: errors caused by lack of competence by individual translators and errors caused by lack of teamwork, and the former is divided into speech identification errors, semantic judgment errors, grammar and contextual errors, and cultural custom errors. The latter is divided into errors due to lack of list sharing and errors due to lack of translation guidance. Based on this framework, we analyzed errors in Chinese subtitle translation of 'The Red Sleeve' and suggested ways to improve individual voice identification, vocabulary and grammar, culture and context identification, and translation guidance and inspection through teamwork.

        영상자막번역을 통한 독일어 번역교육 가능성에 대한 고찰

        With the flow of globalization, the world becomes smaller as various kinds of information exchange are made rapidly with the help of the Internet and other forms of mass media throughout the whole world. As the information exchange is accelerated and its amount increases, the demand for translation also increases and the translation takes a significant proportion generally in every country. In the past, the translation of literature was the mainstream for translation subjects. Nowadays because of increasing needs of translation for multimedia products like movies, documentary, film, animation, video or DVD etc., subtitle translation also draws also attention as a new area for translation. Unfortunately, in the area of German linguistics and literature, training in translation or education are rarely performed and there have been only a few attempts to translate German film into Korean at the educational level. There are two ways to translate a dialogue of a film into foreign language, namely dubbing and subtitling. Nowadays subtitling is a frequently used method. The original dialogue sound track is left in place and the translation is printed along the bottom of the film as subtitles. This study introduced a methodology that is made through a project for a German film with subtitling in Korean. Its aim is to show that subtitle translation in practice can contribute to improve the translation skills and to help acquire intercultural understanding. We chose the film "Neukolln Unlimited" for subtitle translation, translating it into Korean and synchronizing it with the original dialogue sound. As the translated texts are synchronized with the original text, the length of source text is lessened In this paper principal operations such as condensing, elimination and quantitative reduction of target text that we take into account are introduced.

        자막번역과 그 경계 및 텍스트* -번역가의 개입 중심으로-

        We get a lot of information through movies and it makes some influences on our lives. This paper has examined English-Korean subtitle texts from the films, The Amazing Spider-man(2012) and Marvel(2012) and has purpose on translation in target subtitle texts by the translator's intervention. As a result of their analyses, some words and phrases from source texts are transferred in forms of similar meaning words to target texts. Furthermore, they are selected as proper expressions, depending on utterance contexts of actors and image situations in films. This shows that the translator selects the high cognitive words or phrases, relevant to contexts and screen images. But in practical subtitle translations, the translator's intervention mainly works weak and in a necessary case, turn some expressions into easily understandable ones. Subtitle texts like general translations have textuality and image information. These encourage the translator to have an opportunity to intervene in subtitle translation. However, we don't know exactly how the translator intervenes in translation. Only there is some probability on language change phenomena in subtitle translation of the target text. It may be the translator's language act.

        Teaching Screen Translation in the Classroom

        Screen translation can be a highly motivational discipline which engages student's interest and enthusiasm, promotes confidence and security and fosters development of L2 learning and translation strategies. Thorough training in screen translation offers additional benefits in the form of transferable skills, that may be relevant to the students' professional activities in the future. Translation pedagogy is now catching up with the progress in translation studies and the continuing demands for high-quality translators. And with the diffusion of multimedia texts, the view of translators as communicators between languages and cultures is now widely accepted and influencing and changing the didactics of translation accordingly. Screen translation has much to recommend it as a new and motivational form of translation activity at university level. It offers rich possibilities for imaginative course design. Moreover, the specific nature of the multimedia texts requires the teacher to recognize that teaching of translation involves not only in the linguistic aspects of translation but also instruction in the specific constraints of screen translation. That is to say, it must also involve the pedagogy that recognizes its multimedia communicative contexts.

        影视字幕翻译特点与技巧以及教学上的几点建议 - 以韩中影视字幕翻译为例 -

        영화와 드라마만이 아닌 미디어 매체를 통한 미디어 자막번역이 한·중 간에 날로 빈번해짐에 따라, 전문 번역가를 통한 자막번역 보다는 비전문가에 의한 번역이 시장을 메우고 있다. 이렇게 양산된 번역은 관중이 자막을 통해 이해하는 내용과 원천 텍스트 사이에 많은 차이점을 드러낸다. 본 논문은 한·중간의 자막번역에 초점을 맞추어 자막번역에 대한 기본적인 특징과 그에 따른 번역전략, 즉 축역, 증역, 자국화, 개역 등을 소개하고, 통번역대학원에 개설된 미디어 번역 수업에 대한 의견을 피력하였다. 특히 한·중간 번역자료 분석을 통해 한·중간 자막 번역에서 어려운 점과 주의사항을 분석하여 향후 미디어 번역 수업에 많은 시사점을 제공하고자 한다. Subtitle translation between the Korean and the Chinese language is growing not only for movies and dramas but also for other media. Most of the translation demands are met by non-professional translators. Translation produced by this process creates a gap between the source text and the audience understanding of it. Focusing on the Korean and Chinese language pair, this paper introduces the characteristics of subtitle translation and some of the most common translation strategies adopted, such as abridged translation, extended translation, domestication, or revised translation, and offers a view on media translation class that has been introduced to the curriculum of the graduate school of interpretation and translation. In particular, this paper analyzes the actual translation contents between the Korean and Chinese to figure out key challenges and points to consider and to provide insights into the media translation class.

        중국의 한중번역 자막팀의 역사와 현황

        This essay talks about the history and the current situation of Korean-Chinese-Subtitle-Team, which has made an amount of subtitle works from Korean video contents, also known as K-dramas or K-entertainment programs or so. High-speed internet popularization could trace back to approximately 2000s, and the Korean-Chinese-Subtitle-Team also sprang up from then on in China. In addition, people used to watch videos by CDs(DVDs), but nowadays when it became to a visual measure like MP4s, people could get the video resources and edit them by an easier and quicker way. Due to the invention of the internet, Subtitle-Team which is mostly composed of fans of K-culture has developed and expanded rapidly without space constraints. As K-culture became more popular in China, the number of subtitle teams became larger and different teams started to reveal their own characters. Although Subtitle-Team is extremely important to the development of K-culture in China, we could allege that the Subtitle-Team is illegal when it comes to the copyright. However, the Chinese government has enforced the restriction on K-culture in the recent few years. Especially since 2017, when the government carried out a ban, which is called “Korean restriction order”, because of the THAAD dispute, the Subtitle-Team has remained stagnant, even though the most famous and competitive subtitle team is also going through a hard time. To conserve Korean-Chinese-Subtitle-Team, the way of their translation developed into “real-time translation” and they also started to run more and more business for profit.

        공식 자막과 팬 자막에 나타난 관용 표현 번역 양상 비교 : 한국 드라마 <태양의 후예>의 중국어 번역을 중심으로

        This study aims to explore the differences between the official subtitles and the fan subtitles in terms of the translation techniques of idiomatic expressions used in the drama Descendants of the Sun. Based on the previous studies, this study establishes a classification criterion of translation techniques for idiomatic expressions. Then, it collects four episodes of Descendants of the Sun by using a random sampling method, and analyzes the translation techniques of idiomatic expressions, catchphrases and slang that appear in both the official and fan subtitles. The results show that both the official and fan subtitles employ direct translation techniques such as literal translation, free translation and substitution flexibly. However, the official subtitles tend to use free translation and substitution more, while the fan subtitles rely more on literal translation. Moreover, it is found that the official subtitles show the characteristics of cultural context by replacing the original language with allegorical sayings, mottos, proverbs and idioms in Chinese. And in the fan subtitles, this study also identifies the characteristics of adding explanations, and detects some mistranslations. Although this study has the limitation of not analyzing the whole content of the drama, it has certain research significance as it focuses on the relatively neglected aspect of idiomatic expressions and observes the differences between the official and fan subtitles, which are influenced by the active fan culture.

        한영 자막번역에 있어서 문화소 번역전략에 관한 연구

        This study aims to comprehensively analyze the translation strategies for culturemes in Korean TV drama ‘Extraordinary Lawyer, Woo Young-woo', offering guidance for subtitle translation and transcreation. With the increasing global influence of the Korean Wave, or ‘Hallyu,' Korean culture-related media have expanded worldwide, particularly Korean dramas, resulting in a substantial demand for English translation. In this context, this research analyzes subtitle translation strategies, with a specific focus on Pedersen(2011)'s strategies. Significantly, this study highlights the effective translation of wordplay in the drama through transcreation, emphasizing the replication of not only functional equivalence but also the emotional and meaningful impact present in the source language within the target language. In summary, this study explores translation strategies for culturemes, underscoring the pivotal role of transcreation in Korean-to-English translation. It will contribute to a better understanding of effective methodologies in audiovisual translation, including subtitle translation.
