      • A Process-Driven Variability Analysis in Process-Aware Information Systems Family

        Processes help an organization’s workforce achieve business objectives by helping them work not harder, but more efficiently and with improved consistency. Process-aware information systems (PAIS), whose implementation relies on the process specification, should be customizable in accordance with the process variations. Processes can be causes of variability, a characteristic that distinguishes one PAIS from others. The order or combination of processes can vary in dealing with the requirements and technical differences. Software product line engineering can help develop customizable or configurable PAISs, called PAIS family because it supports designing and developing a family of systems, not a single system. For designing PAIS family, analyzing variations in processes is more advantageous than analyzing the functional features of PAIS. Processes have different abstraction levels and sometimes they are not sequential. Moreover, a number of processes are too large and complex to analyze process variations as a whole. This paper proposes a hierarchical process framework-based process variability analysis technique for PAIS family. This paper explains the proposed technique through the FTA origin determination and management system example.

        Effective Process Design and Robust Manufacturing for Hydroformed Parts

        A general trend and one of the important strategies in the automotive industry is reducing the lead time of a new car development. In order to obtain this goal the efficient use of simulation software is needed to effectively design a hydroformed part. The stages of the design chain are integrated in one simulation tool. The outcome of this feasibility analysis is a virtual prototype saying that it is possible to produce the part. In fact one process point has been defined whereas when going into production a process window must be know to guarantee a stable production process. In order to achieve this latter we are suggesting a process performance analysis. Based on multiple simulations the influence and sensitivity various process parameters on the forming process can be identified. Besides combining the analysis with statistical process control evaluation the process capability (Cpk-values) can be defined. This design chain analysis will be applied on a hydro formed part. The process performance analysis is the identification of the process window and process capability in advance, so before any tool has been milled. This will be demonstrated on a second hydroformed part.

      • A Hypermedia Middleware for Process Enactment and Adaptation

        Dynamic business process management incorporates the capabilities needed to deal with the fast-paced change inherent in today's business processes. While process-aware information systems (PAIS) face an increasing challenge to dynamically adapt running processes to context changes, support for such dynamic adaptation during process enactment remains limited. Furthermore, while the use of web service APIs for enterprise application integration (EAI) and cloud accessibility has garnered broad community support, current PAIS lack a standardized API and often require use of their proprietary clients or APIs. In this paper, we explore the use of hypermedia as the engine of application state (HATEOAS) for process enactment and process adaptation. Our approach Adapting Processes via Processes using hypermedia (AProProh) situates a HATEOAS-based middleware between RESTful clients and heterogeneous PAIS that can dynamically guide a PAIS-agnostic process client in the navigation, enactment, and adaptation of process instances. Dynamically generated hypermedia enables clients to dynamically apply valid adaptations and adjust their process navigation dynamically to a changed process model while supporting long-running operational requests. A case study based on a prototype realization shows the viability of the approach for supporting dynamic process navigation and process adaptation and characterizes its performance.

        Process Derivation Methodology for Reconfigurable Smart Factory

        Due to the development of computing technology, various data are collected and analyzed to extract meaningful information and are utilized in various industries. In particular, in the manufacturing industry, collected data are analyzed and used for process management, monitoring, quality prediction, etc., to establish smart factories and Reconfigurable Smart Factories. To continuously manage the processes of a Reconfigurable Smart Factory, it is necessary to derive a process model that includes factors affecting the process and to compare the actual execution process with the designed process and make improvements. The conventional methods for deriving process model are methods that apply to processes with a fixed start and end and are difficult to apply directly to the processes of a Reconfigurable Smart Factory. Furthermore, the conventional methods are sequential control flow-oriented, and a process derivation method that includes factors affecting the process is required. Therefore, it is necessary to consider various factors (e.g., time attributes, task time) that affect the process, not just the sequence, to solve this. In this study, we propose a novel method to derive a process that includes sequential flow and time conditions. The proposed methodology focuses on the execution time and order of instances to derive the process. Experiments were conducted by changing the conditions of the methodology and measuring the execution time to validate the proposed methodology.

        Recently, business process management has become an important concept to define and execute business process. During the execution of the collaborative business processes defined by the consensus with manufacturing enterprises, a lot of variations can be occurred by various internal and external factors related to business. From this reason, manufacturing enterprises have tried to seek for a technology to define and execute the collaborative business process systematically under the dynamic situations approving process variation. This study defines the collaborative business process among manufacturing enterprises at first and proposes its execution technology under the dynamic situations. Here, the proposed execution technology includes the authority management of each process, sub-process, and activity for security, the forced execution of the incomplete process containing the undefined sub-process, the re-execution in a certain range of business process for correcting errors, and the dynamic selection of sub-process. Furthermore, this study implements a prototype system to check the validity of its application under the dynamic situations.

        Discovery of Outpatient Care Process of a Tertiary University Hospital Using Process Mining

        Objectives: There is a need for effective processes in healthcare clinics, especially in tertiary hospitals, that consist of a set of complex steps for outpatient care, in order to provide high quality care and reduce the time cost. This study aimed to discover the potential of a process mining technique to determine an outpatient care process that can be utilized for further improvements. Methods: The outpatient event log was defined, and the log data for a month was extracted from the hospital information system of a tertiary university hospital. That data was used in process mining to discover an outpatient care process model, and then the machine-driven model was compared with a domain expert-driven process model in terms of the accuracy of the matching rate. Results: From a total of 698,158 event logs, the most frequent pattern was found to be “Consultation registration > Consultation > Consultation scheduling > Payment > Outside-hospital prescription printing” (11.05% from a total cases). The matching rate between the expert-driven process model and the machine-driven model was found to be approximately 89.01%, and most of the processes occurred with relative accuracy in accordance with the expert-driven process model. Conclusions: Knowledge regarding the process that occurs most frequently in the pattern is expected to be useful for hospital resource assignments. Through this research, we confirmed that process mining techniques can be applied in the healthcare area, and through detailed and customized analysis in the future, it can be expected to be used to improve actual outpatient care processes.

        웹 토론 텍스트를 통한 논술 수업의 전략과 실제

        This paper, with web-discussion materials as the main text of a statement education, critically checked it and presented a strategy of lessons for seeking creative alternatives. In addition, this paper examined its educational effects by applying it to actual statement lessons. Web-discussion means for official discussions to be made in terms of various information and opinions from a variety of standpoints on social issues opened in posted writings. Web-discussion text in a statement education becomes a useful educational medium in that a learner himself can discover problems of life, that it is able to promote the critical way of thinking of a learner more positively and that it closely corresponds to a statement education as a process for solving a problem. Accordingly, this paper, as a strategy of a web-discussion use education, proposed the analysis of selection of topics for discussion, analysis of argument materials, analysis and criticism of replies and answers, and processes of seeking alternatives, and, applying such processes to an actual class, prepared the processes and contents of a class. As a result of such a class, the learners could realize a statement as a process for advancing Korean capability and solving problems of life, and thought that a statement education through web-discussion text could efficiently contribute to the stage of selecting and analyzing topics for discussion. And the learners said that they could have an easy access to current topics and thus have an opportunity to worry about and think problems of life, and also could easily access a demonstration method through an error. Considering the above-mentioned facts, it is verified that the statement lessons utilizing web-discussion text induces interest in a class and can contribute to a statement as a process of solving problems of life and to a writing class as a process. Also, it can be found the statement lessons work well as a case of a desirable media education.         Determination of the Resetting Time to the Process Mean Shift by the Loss Function

        Machines are physically or chemically degenerated by continuous usage. One of the results of this degeneration is the process mean shift. Under the process mean shift, production cost, failure cost and quality loss function cost are increasing continuously. Therefore a periodic preventive resetting the process is necessary. We suppose that the wear level is observable. In this case, process mean shift problem has similar characteristics to the maintenance policy model. In the previous studies, process mean shift problem has been studied in several fields such as ‘Tool wear limit’, ‘Canning Process’ and ‘Quality Loss Function’ separately or partially integrated form. This paper proposes an integrated cost model which involves production cost by the material, failure cost by the nonconforming items, quality loss function cost by the deviation between the quality characteristics from the target value and resetting the process cost. We expand this process mean shift problem a little more by dealing the process variance as a function, not a constant value. We suggested a multiplier function model to the process variance according to the analysis result with practical data. We adopted two-side specification to our model. The initial process mean is generally set somewhat above the lower specification. The objective function is total integrated costs per unit wear and independent variables are wear limit and initial setting process mean. The optimum is derived from numerical analysis because the integral form of the objective function is not possible. A numerical example is presented.

        공정기반 산업의 프로세스 인프라 역량 평가 방법 제안 및 적용

        Recently, as organizational systems have become larger and more complicated, the evaluation for their efficiency and effectiveness has become more difficult but important. It is essential to understand the current strength and weakness of the organizational process. It can be a starting point for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the organizational systems, because the quality of system outputs depend greatly on the capability of system process. Particularly in such process-based industries as semiconductor, energy or software industries, an assessment of process capability is more highlighted to gain knowledge of the expected quality and reliability of system outputs. As a result, much attention has been given to the issues of process capability assessment in the process-based industries. However, most of the previous research in those industries is based on case studies, a more generalized method for process capability assessment is in need for help more companies improve their processes. Therefore, this study aims to propose a process capability assessment method and apply the proposed method to an energy company. This research argues that the process capability is composed of individual and organizational capabilities of the process. Then, the concept of Capability Maturity Model Integration, which was initially suggested to evaluate the software development process, was introduced to develop the assessment tools and process. Finally, the proposed method was applied to a Korean company in the energy industry sector to verify its utility. The research outputs are expected to help more firms assess their process capability and ultimately improve the process.

        확률적 프로세스 트리 생성을 위한 타부 검색 –유전자 프로세스 마이닝 알고리즘

        Process mining is an analytical technique aimed at obtaining useful information about a process by extracting a process model from events log. However, most existing process models are deterministic because they do not include stochastic elements such as the occurrence probabilities or execution times of activities. Therefore, available information is limited, resulting in the limitations on analyzing and understanding the process. Furthermore, it is also important to develop an efficient methodology to discover the process model. Although genetic process mining algorithm is one of the methods that can handle data with noises, it has a limitation of large computation time when it is applied to data with large capacity. To resolve these issues, in this paper, we define a stochastic process tree and propose a tabu search-genetic process mining (TS-GPM) algorithm for a stochastic process tree. Specifically, we define a two-dimensional array as a chromosome to represent a stochastic process tree, fitness function, a procedure for generating stochastic process tree and a model trace as a string of activities generated from the process tree. Furthermore, by storing and comparing model traces with low fitness values in the tabu list, we can prevent duplicated searches for process trees with low fitness value being performed. In order to verify the performance of the proposed algorithm, we performed a numerical experiment by using two kinds of event log data used in the previous research. The results showed that the suggested TS-GPM algorithm outperformed the GPM algorithm in terms of fitness and computation time.
