        Hypermethylation of Frizzled1 is associated with Wnt/β-catenin signaling inactivation in mesenchymal stem cells of patients with steroid-associated osteonecrosis

        The Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway is associated with the pathogenesis of steroid-induced osteonecrosis. Our investigation studied whether aberrant CpG island hypermethylation of the FZD1 gene was present in patients with osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH), which results in Wnt/β-catenin signaling inactivation and subsequent cell dysfunction. Bone marrow was collected from the proximal femurs of patients with steroid-associated ONFH (n = 21) and patients with new femoral neck fractures (n = 22), and then mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) were isolated. We investigated cell viability, the transcription and translation levels of Wnt/β-catenin signaling-related genes, the extent of methylation at CpG islands of the FZD1 promoter, and the osteogenic and adipogenic differentiation abilities of MSCs from the control group and from the ONFH group treated with or without 5′-Aza-dC. According to the results, MSCs from the ONFH group showed a reduced proliferation ability, low transcription and translation levels of FZD1, inhibition of the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway, weakened osteogenesis and enhanced adipogenesis ability. Aberrant CpG island hypermethylation of FZD1 was observed in the ONFH group. Treatment with 5’-Aza-dC resulted in de novo FZD1 expression, reactivation of the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway and promotion of osteogenesis. Taken together, our study not only provides novel insights into the regulation of the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway in this disease but also reveals potential for the use of demethylating agents for the treatment of GC-associated ONFH.

        Preparation and Characterization of Hyperbranched Poly(ether ether ketone)s Suitable as Rheology Control Agents for Linear Poly(ether ether ketone)s

        Hyperbranched poly(ether ether ketone)s (HPEEKs) that were suitable as rheology control agents for linear poly(ether ether ketone)s (LPEEKs) were first prepared via commercially available hydroquinone (A2 monomer,HQ) and synthesized 3,4',5-trifluoro-benzophenone (BB'2 monomer, TF) effortlessly. The polymerization mode of A2 + BB'2 was demonstrated by MS. Moreover, FTIR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and 19F NMR spectroscopy revealed the structure and degree of branching (DB) of the resulting polymers. In comparison with A2 + B3 approach, HPEEK prepared using an A2 + BB'2 strategy possessed a higher molecular weight, and improved the melt processability of LPEEK. Remarkably, with the addition of HPEEK, the mechanical properties of LPEEK increased with a HPEEK content of 5%. The improved mechanical properties were attributed to the good miscibility. Moreover, the addition of HPEEK did not decrease the thermal stability of LPEEK.

        Fracture Properties of Wide-Notch Concrete Beams strengthened with Near-Surface Mounted CFRP Rebar

        Carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) is a promising engineering material nowadays. This study carried out four-point-bending fracture experiment on wide-notch-concrete beams reinforced with near-surface mounted (NSM) CFRP rebar, aiming at exploring the effect of CFRP rebar on beam fracture characteristics. The test comprised four groups concrete beam specimens (three for each) with varying reinforcing methodologies. The first group specimens were common concrete beams strengthened by one near-surface mounted CFRP bar, while the second group consisted of common concrete beams strengthened by two near-surface mounted CFRP bars. On the issue of the third group, there were three wide-notch concrete beams strengthened with one near-surface mounted CFRP bar. Lastly, three wide-notch concrete beams strengthened with two near-surface mounted CFRP bars form the group four. The study proposed various equations about the rectangular concrete beams strengthened with near-surface mounted CFRP rebar under tension-shearing condition. For both open cracks and closed cracks, the equations concluded stress intensity factor as well as extending angle in mode I and II crack types. Four-point-bending fracture experiments for wide-notch-concrete beams and numerical simulation experiments were included in this research. This research exhibited expanding direction of wing type crack under effective shearing stress by the superposition model of crack tip stress intensity factor and stress intensity factor. Four-point-bending fracture tests for wide-notch-concrete beams and numerical simulation tests are finished in this research. The tests demonstrate characteristics of crack expanding direction, extending angle, vertical displacement, maximum normal stress, shear strain rate, distribution of plastic zones. Combining the theory and reality, the experimental results were in close agreement with the numerical research.

        A Novel Rate-dependent Direct Inverse Preisach Model With Input Iteration for Hysteresis Compensation of Piezoelectric Actuators

        This paper proposes the design and validation of a novel rate-dependent direct inverse Preisach model with input iteration (RDIPMII) dedicated to feedforward compensation of hysteresis nonlinearity in piezoelectricactuators (PEAs). Unlike existing similar works, the proposed RDIPMII avoids deriving the parameters of the inverse compensator from the hysteresis model, and could be directly employed as the inverse compensator. Furthermore, RDIPMII is capable of achieving rate-dependent inverse compensation while reducing the experimental burden in identifying models by the use of newly proposed data expression method (DEM). In addition, by integrating iterative learning control (ILC), RDIPMII accomplishes online input iteration to further suppress the hysteresis effect. The feasibility and efficiency of the presented scheme are demonstrated through experimental investigations conducted on a PEA.

        Precursor effect on catalytic properties of Mo-based catalyst for sulfur-resistant methanation

        The catalytic activity of Mo-based catalysts prepared from (NH4)6Mo7O24 and (NH4)2MoS4 was com-pared in the sulfur resistant methanation process. The catalyst using oxide precursor had relatively higher activity thanthe catalyst using sulfide precursor, and the presulfidation procedure almost had no effect on the catalytic performanceof the catalyst using oxide precursor. In view of the characterization results, it could be supposed that the amorphousMoS2 was more active for sulfur-resistant methanation than the crystalline MoS2. The molybdenum sulfides and oxideswith lower valence states (Mo4+, Mo5+) could be responsible for the catalytic activity and make a possible contributionto the carbon monoxide methanation in the reaction condition.

        Cloning and Characterization of the Ammonium Transporter Genes BaAMT1;1 and BaAMT1;3 from Chinese Kale

        Chinese kale (Brassica alboglabra L.) is a popular vegetable rich in important nutrients. Fertilization withappropriate ammonium:nitrate ratios enhances biomass production and quality. AMT-type ammonium transporters havebeen shown to mediate ammonium uptake across the plasma membrane. However, very little is known about themolecular regulation of growth and development by ammonium in Chinese kale, including how ammonium regulatesthe expression of AMT1 genes. In this study, we identified and characterized two AMT1 genes from B. alboglabra,BaAMT1;1 and BaAMT1;3. The full-length open reading frames of BaAMT1;1 and BaAMT1;3 were 1512 bp and1515 bp, respectively. Transient expression of the fusion proteins pBE-EGFP-BaAMT1;1 and pBE-EGFP-BaAMT1;3 inonion epidermal cells indicated that these transporters are located on the plasma membrane. BaAMT1;1 and BaAMT1;3were functional in yeast and complemented a mutant defective in ammonium transport. BaAMT1;1 was expressed invegetative organs and at high levels in roots, while BaAMT1;3 expression was root specific. In addition, we observedopposite responses of BaAMT1;1 and BaAMT1;3 expression to nitrogen starvation and ammonium resupply in roots. These results provide new insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying ammonium absorption in Chinese kale.

        Ultrathin MEMS thermoelectric generator with Bi2Te3/(Pt, Au) multilayers and Sb2Te3 legs

        Multilayer structure is one of the research focuses of thermoelectric (TE) material in recent years. In this work, n-type 800 nm ­Bi 2 Te 3 /(Pt, Au) multilayers are designed with p-type ­Sb 2 Te 3 legs to fabricate ultrathin microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) TE devices. The power factor of the annealed ­Bi 2 Te 3 /Pt multilayer reaches 46.5 μW cm −1 K −2 at 303 K, which corresponds to more than a 350% enhancement when compared to pristine ­Bi 2 Te 3 . The annealed ­Bi 2 Te 3 /Au multilayers have a lower power factor than pristine ­Bi 2 Te 3 . The power of the device with ­Sb 2 Te 3 and ­Bi 2 Te 3 /Pt multilayers measures 20.9 nW at 463 K and the calculated maximum output power reaches 10.5 nW, which is 39.5% higher than the device based on ­Sb 2 Te 3 and ­Bi 2 Te 3 , and 96.7% higher than the ­Sb 2 Te 3 and ­Bi 2 Te 3 /Au multilayers one. This work can provide an opportunity to improve TE properties by using multilayer structures and novel ultrathin MEMS TE devices in a wide variety of applications.

        고교 배구선수의 자기결정성, 집단효능감 및 팀 응집력의 관계

        목적: 이 연구의 목적은 고교배구 선수들의 자기결정성 동기와 집단효능감 및 팀 응집력의 관계를 규명하는 것이다. 방법: 2022년도 대한배구협회에 등록된 전국 남녀 고등부 배구선수 422명을 대상으로 스포츠 동기, 집단효능감, 팀 응집력 설문지를 배포하여 자료를 수집한 뒤 기술통계, 신뢰도 분석, 요인 분석, 상관 분석 및 회귀 분석을 실시하였다. 결과: 자기 결정성 동기, 집단효능감의 하위 요인은 팀 응집력의 하위요인과 대부분 유의한 상관 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 팀 응집력은 주로 집단 효능감의 하위요인인 집단 효능과 개인 효능 그리고 자기결정성 동기의 하위요인인 내재 조절에 의해서 정적으로 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 결론: 팀 응집력에 대한 자기결정성과 집단 효능감의 역할을 파악했으며, 팀 퍼포먼스를 향상 시키기 위한 동기 심리와 사회인지 심리 변수 활용에 대해서 제언하였다. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship among self-determination, collective efficacy, team cohesion of high school volley ball athletes’ Methods: 422 data were collected from sport motivation, collective efficacy, team cohesion questionnaire. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, factor analysis, correlation and multiple regression with SPSS. Results: Subscale of self-determination motivation and collective efficacy and team cohesion are significantly correlated and team cohesion influenced by internal regulation of self-determination and group efficacy and individual efficacy of team efficacy. Conclusion: we explored the role of Self-determination motivation and collective efficacy to team cohesion and suggested the variable of motivation and social cognitive psychology for performance enhancement.

        Study on Spinnability of PP/PU Blends and Preparation of PP/PU Bi-component Melt Blown Nonwovens

        Melt blown polymer blends offers a good way to combine two polymers in the same fiber generating nonwovenswith new and novel properties. In this study, polypropylene (PP) and polyurethane (PU) were blended to prepare PP/PU bicomponentmelt blown nonwovens. The spinnability of PP/PU composites was investigated and PP/PU bi-componentnonwovens with compositions of 95/5, 90/10, 80/20 and 70/30 were prepared by using the melt blowing technique. The meltblown fibers exhibited a ‘sea-island’ structure with PP as the continuous phase and PU as the dispersed phase. When thecontent of PU in the blend was above 40 %, PP/PU melt blown nonwovens could not be produced due to fiber breaking. ForPP/PU (90/10) nonwovens, it was found that the average fiber diameter decreased with increasing die to collector (DCD) andelevated hot air pressure.
