Identification of Soluble Epoxide Hydrolase Inhibitors from the Seeds of Passiflora edulis Cultivated in Vietnam

To Dao Cuong,Hoang Thi Ngoc Anh,Tran Thu Huong,Pham Ngoc Khanh,Vu Thi Ha,Tran Manh Hung,김영호,Nguyen Manh Cuong 한국생약학회 2019 Natural Product Sciences Vol.25 No.4

Soluble epoxide hydrolases (sEH) are enzymes present in all living organisms, metabolize epoxy fatty acids to 1,2-diols. sEH in the metabolism of polyunsaturated fatty acids plays a key role in inflammation. In addition, the endogenous lipid mediators in cardiovascular disease are also broken down to diols by the action of sEH that enhanced cardiovascular protection. In this study, sEH inhibitory guided fractionation led to the isolation of five phenolic compounds trans-resveratrol (1), trans-piceatannol (2), sulfuretin (3), (+)-balanophonin (4), and cassigarol E (5) from the ethanol extract of the seeds of Passiflora edulis Sims cultivated in Vietnam. The chemical structures of isolated compounds were determined by the interpretation of NMR spectral data, mass spectra, and comparison with data from the literature. The soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) inhibitory activity of isolated compounds was evaluated. Among them, trans-piceatannol (2) showed the most potent inhibitory activity on sEH with an IC50 value of 3.4 mM. This study marks the first time that sulfuretin (3) was isolated from Passiflora edulis as well as (+)-balanophonin (4), and cassigarol E (5) were isolated from Passiflora genus.

      • Exposure to Tobacco Advertising and Promotion among School Children Aged 13-15 in Vietnam - an Overview from GYTS 2014

Tran, Khanh Long,Phung, Xuan Son,Kim, Bao Giang,Phan, Thi Hai,Doan, Thi Thu Huyen,Luong, Ngoc Khue,Pham, Thi Quynh Nga,Nguyen, Tuan Lam,Hoang, Van Minh,Le, Thi Thanh Huong Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2016 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.17 No.no.sup1

Evidence shows that tobacco advertising and promotion activities may increase tobacco consumption and usage, especially in youth. Despite the regulation on prohibiting advertisement of any tobacco product, tobacco advertisement and promotion activities are still common in Vietnam. This article presents current exposure to tobacco advertising and promotion (TAP) among school children aged 13 to 15 years in Vietnam in 2014 and potential influencing factors. Data from the Global Youth Tobacco Survey 2014 in Vietnam covering 3,430 school aged children were used. Both descriptive and analytical statistics were carried out with Stata 13 statistical software. Binary logistic regression was applied to explain the exposure to TAP among youth and examine relationships with individual factors. A significance level of p<0.05 and sampling weights were used in all of the computations. In the past 30 days, 48.6% of the students experienced exposure to at least 1 type of tobacco advertising or promotion. Wearing or otherwise using products related to tobacco was the most exposure TAP type reported by students (22.3%). The internet (22.1), points of sales (19.2) and social events (11.5) were three places that students aged 13-15 frequently were exposed to TAP. Binary logistic results showed that gender (female vs male) (OR = 0.61, 95%CI: 0.52 - 0.71), susceptibility to smoking (OR = 2.12, 95%CI: 1.53 - 2.92), closest friends' smoked (OR = 1.43, 95%CI: 1.2 - 1.7) and parents smoking status (OR = 2.83, 95%CI: 1.6 - 5.01) were significantly associated with TAP exposure among school-aged children. The research findings should contribute to effective implementation of measures for preventing and controlling tobacco use among students aged 13-15 in Viet Nam.

Regularization for the problem of finding a solution of a system of nonlinear monotone ill-posed equations in Banach spaces

Tran Thi Huong,김종규,Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy 대한수학회 2018 대한수학회지 Vol.55 No.4

The purpose of this paper is to present an operator method of regularization for the problem of finding a solution of a system of nonlinear ill-posed equations with a monotone hemicontinuous mapping and $N$ inverse-strongly monotone mappings in Banach spaces. A regularization parameter choice is given and convergence rate of the regularized solutions is estimated. We also give the convergence and convergence rate for regularized solutions in connection with the finite-dimensional approximation. An iterative regularization method of zero order in a real Hilbert space and two examples of numerical expressions are also given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

Vol.31 No.1

The smelting reduction of spent lithium-ion batteries results in metallic alloys containing Co, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, and Si. A process to separate metal ions from the sulfuric acid leaching solution of these metallic alloys has been reported. In this process, ionic liquids are employed to separate Fe(III) and Cu(II). In this study, D2EHPA and Cyanex 301 were employed to replace these ionic liquids. Fe(III) and Cu(II) from the sulfate solution were sequentially extracted using 0.5 M D2EHPA with three stages of cross-current and 0.3 M Cyanex 301. The stripping of Fe(III) and Cu(II) from the loaded phases was performed using 50% (v/v) and 60% (v/v) aqua regia solutions, respectively. The mass balance results from this process indicated that the recovery and purity percentages of the metals were greater than 99%.

The Effect of Contextual Factors on Resistance to Change in Lean Transformation

Duc Trong TRAN,Huong Thu PHAM,Van Thu BUI 한국유통과학회 2020 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.7 No.11

The purpose of this paper is to uncover whether and how contextual factors (information exchange, participation, trust in management, and training), relate to resistance to change. It also explores the mediating effect of perceived impact of change on the relations between contextual factors and resistance to change. This study is conducted in several manufacturing plants in food processing industry in Vietnam, which is implementing a top-down large-scale change – Lean transformation, adopting Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) program, to be specific. The findings suggest that all four contextual factors are negatively associated with resistance to change, in which training had the strongest impact. Also, the perceived change impact partially mediates the relationships between the four contextual factors and resistance to change. The practical implications of this paper are that employees who receive adequate, timely and useful information relating to change are less likely to show opposing behaviors towards change. Fostering trust in management among employees, and employee involvement in decisionmaking, also have a significant influence when addressing employee resistance to change. Employees who are well-trained, well-equipped with tools and knowledge about the change, are less likely to resist as they view the benefits of changes more significant than the risks.

NGUYEN Dang Thu Cuc,TRAN Thi Huong Trang 서울대학교 아시아태평양법연구소 2018 Journal of Korean Law Vol.18 No.1

Being a member of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD)since 1994, being 31st member of the Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits Arising from their Utilization (NP) since 2014, Vietnam is making its efforts to improve ABS legislation and policy to implement the NP. A master scheme on capacity building on ABS adopted by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc was issued in 2016 to implement ABS was promulgated. Decree No. 59/2017/ND-CP, dated May 12, 2017, on the management of access to Genetic Resources (GRs) and the sharing of benefits arising from their utilization (Decree 59) made an important remark in development of ABS law and policy in Vietnam. This Decree covers all basic issues of ABS, detailing the Law on Biodiversity, which was promulgated in 2008 and internalizing the NP in ABS national law. These include essential elements: determining scope definitions, main actors: providers, users, national focal points (NFP), national competent agencies (NCA), benefit sharing, compliance. In spite of important achievements in ABS law development and implementation to date, there remain some weaknesses and shortcomings within the legal system, institutions to facilitate ABS law being implemented well in practice. There are not only the gaps between laws, unclear demarcation of inter-ministerial assigned issues, but also limitation in terms of capacity and awareness of involved actors on ABS issues. This article aims to analyze all these above mentioned points, recommends improving ABS law and policy as well as provides suggestion to overcome limitation.
