Goat milk has a protein composition similar to that of breast milk and contains abundant nutrients, but its use in functional foods is rather limited in comparison to milk from other sources. The aim of this study was to prepare a goat A2 β-casein fraction with improved digestibility and hypoallergenic properties. We investigated the optimal conditions for the separation of A2 β-casein fraction from goat milk by pH adjustment to pH 4.4 and treating the casein suspension with calcium chloride (0.05 M for 1 h at 25°C). Selective reduction of β- lactoglobulin and αs-casein was confirmed using sodium dodecyl sulphate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography. The hypoallergenic property of A2 β-casein fraction was examined by measuring the release of histamine and tumor necrosis factor alpha from HMC-1 human mast cells exposed to different proteins, including A2 β-casein fraction. There was no significant difference in levels of both indicators between A2 β-casein treatment and the control (no protein treatment). The A2 β-casein fraction is abundant in essential amino acids, especially, branched-chain amino acids (leucine, valine, and isoleucine). The physicochemical properties of A2 β-casein fraction, including protein solubility and viscosity, are similar to those of bovine whole casein which is widely used as a protein source in various foods. Therefore, the goat A2 β-casein fraction may be useful as a food material with good digestibility and hypoallergenic properties for infants, the elderly, and people with metabolic disorders.

The development of in vitro assays has been recommended to screening and test-ing the potential endocrine disruptors (EDs). These assay systems focus only on identifying thethe thyroid hormone (TH) disruptors. The aim of this study was to evaluate a test system to detectTH disruptors using rat pituitary tumor GH3 cells. The test system is based on the TH-dependentincrease in growth rate. As expected, L-3,5,3-triiodothyronine (T3) markedly induced a morphologicalchange in GH 3 cells from flattened fibroblastic types to rounded or spindle-shaped types. T3 stimu-lated GH3 cell growth in a dose-dependent manner with the maximum growth-stimulating effect9 M. In addition, T3 increased the release of growth hor-mone and prolactin into the medium of the GH3 cells culture. Using this assay system, the TH-dis-rupting activities of bisphenol A (BPA) and its related compounds were examined. BPA,dimethylbisphenol A (DMBPA), and TCI-EP significantly enhanced the growth of GH3 cells in therange of 1 × 10-5M to 1 × 10-6M concentrations. In conclusion, this in vitro assay system might bestandardization before it can be used as a broad-based screening tool.

The polarity effects of dielectric anisotropy on the electro-optical characteristics of a twisted nematic mode driven by a fringe electric field that has wide viewing angle characteristics was the focus of this study. The device used in this study was designed to be a normally black mode between parallel polarizers. The perfect polarization conversion of the incident light, which passed through a polarizer, was achieved when it passed through a twisted Liquid Crystal (LC) layer. When an electric field was applied, the LC molecules with a positive (or negative) dielectric anisotropy rotated parallel (or perpendicular) to the horizontal component of a fringe electric field as the transmittance increased. According to the calculated results, an enhanced transmittance of the Fringe Field-Twisted Nematic (FF-TN) mode with a positive dielectric anisotropy of +8.2 was be obtained.
REMARKS ON HOMOTOPIES ASSOCIATED WITH KHALIMSKY TOPOLOGY
HAN, SANG-EON,LEE, SIK The Honam Mathematical Society 2015 호남수학학술지 Vol.37 No.4
Several kinds of homotopies have been substantially used to study topological properties of digital spaces. The present paper, as a survey article, studies some recent results in the field of homotopy theory associated with Khalimsky topology. In particular, Khalimsky topological properties of digital products related to the establishment of the homotopies are mainly treated.

The temperature-dependent characteristics of temporal image sticking, especially temporal dark boundary image sticking, are investigated by observing the infrared (IR) emission characteristics relative to the panel-temperature rise during the reset period in a 42-in plasma television. A panel-temperature rise is induced in adjacent cells by the discharge cells (i.e., image-sticking cells) due to the itinerant strong sustain discharge, thereby lowering the firing voltage for both the adjacent and discharge cells during the ramp-up period. However, the phosphor layers in the discharge cells are deteriorated due to the strong discharge, whereas the phosphor layers in the adjacent cells are not degraded due to the absence of the strong sustain discharge. Consequently, when the displayed image is white, the temporal boundary image-sticking cells exhibit a higher luminance with a dark background image. Meanwhile, when a single color image is displayed, the temporal boundary image-sticking cells induce a color difference with a dark background image.

The weakly coordinating ketone group directed C-H functionalizations of chromones, 1,4-naphthoquinones, and xanthones with various maleimides under rhodium(III) catalysis are described. These protocols efficiently provide a range of succinimide-containing chromones, naphthoquinones, and xanthones with excellent site selectivity and functional group compatibility. All synthetic compounds were screened for in vitro anticancer activity against human breast adenocarcinoma cell lines (MCF-7). In particular, compounds 7aa and 7ca with a naphthoquinone scaffold were found to be highly cytotoxic, with an activity competitive with anticancer agent doxorubicin.

From the EtOAc fraction of Eugenia caryophyllata, four compounds were isolated through activity-guided silica gel column chromatography, From the result of spectroscopic data including NMR, MS and IR, the chemical structures of the compounds were determined as 1-allyl-4-hydroxy-3-methoxybezene acetate (eugenol acetate, 1), 1-allyl-4-hydroxy-3-methoxybezene (eugenol, 2), $3{\beta}-hydroxyolean-12-en-28-oic$ acid (oleanolic acid, 3) and $2{\alpha}$, $3{\beta}-dihydroxyolean-12-en-28-oic$ acid (maslinic acid, 4). Compounds 3 and 4 were isolated for the first time from this plant. Also, compounds 1, 2 and 3 exhibited relatively high platelet aggregation inhibitory activity with the $IC_{50}$ values of 0.24, 0.09 and 0.07 mM, respectively. Compound 2 significantly prolonged activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT) with the value of $124{\pm}11.2$ seconds as compared to the control with the value of $37.5{\pm}2.2$ seconds at the concentration of 50 ${\mu}g/ml$. Compounds 1 and 3 revealed inhibitory activity on farnesyl protein transferase (FPTase) with the $IC_{50}$ values of 0.49 and 0.24 mM and compounds 1 and 2 highly inhibited the growth of rat-H-ras cells with the $Gl_{50}$ values of 6.63 and 5.70 ${\mu}M$, respectively.
