        Protective Effects of Portulaca oleracea L. Extract against Matrix Metalloproteinase Production and Reactive Oxygen Species Generation Induced by Ultraviolet B Radiation in Human Keratinocytes

        쇠비름(Portulaca oleracea.L)은 쇠비름과에 속하는 한해살이풀로서 리놀렌산과 같은 불포화지방산, 페놀성 화합물, 플라보노이드, 비타민 C, 미네랄 함량이 높은 것으로 보고되어 있다. 본 연구에서는 쇠비름 추출물을 이용하여 UVB를 조사한 인간각질형성세포에서 광노화 억제능을 확인하였다. Matrix metalloproteinases는 세포의 기질을 분해하는 효소로 MMP-1는 collagenase, MMP-2와 MMP-9는 gelatinases로 피부 진피층을 구성하는 type Ⅰ collagen을 분해시키는데 영향을 미친다. UVB를 조사한 인간각질형성세포에서 쇠비름 추출물을 처리했을 때 MMP-1, -2, -9의 발현이 감소하였으며, type Ⅰ procollagen의 발현은 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 쇠비름 추출물을 처리한 군에서 UV에 의한 ROS 생성이 감소하였는데 이는 Nrf-2의 활성화를 통한 항산화 인자 SOD-1과 OH-1의 발현 증가로 인해 세포내 ROS 생성이 감소한 것으로 사료된다. 따라서 본 연구 결과를 통해 쇠비름 추출물이 UVB를 조사한 인간각질형성세포에서 MMP 인자 및 항산화 인자의 발현 조절을 통해 광노화로부터의 세포 보호능을 가지는 것을 확인하였으며 나아가 화장품 소재로서의 개발 가능성을 확인하였다. Portulaca oleracea L. is an edible plant widely consumed in daily diet throughout Europe, Asia and America. In this study, protective effects of P. oleracea L. extracts against oxidative stress and matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) activity induced by ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation were investigated using HaCaT immortal human keratinocytes. In this context, the mRNA and protein productions of MMPs (MMP-1, -2, and -9) and type I procollagen, which are major markers of photoaging induced by UVB radiation in HaCaT keratinocytes, were evaluated. Furthermore, UVB-induced reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation and mRNA and protein expression levels of superoxide dismutase-1 (SOD-1), oxygenase-1 (OH-1), and nuclear factor-erythroid 2-related factor-2 (Nrf-2), all of which are associated with the antioxidant balance, were investigated. As shown by the results, UVB radiation induced ROS formation and led to increased production of MMPs and decreased collagen production in human keratinocytes, which resulted in skin photoaging or photodamage. The treatment with P. oleracea L. extracts downregulated MMP (MMP-1, -2, and -9) production and upregulated type I procollagen expression in UVB-induced HaCaT cells. Furthermore, treatment with the extracts decreased UVB-induced ROS generation and increased the expression of antioxidant enzymes, such as SOD-1 and OH-1, through the Nrf-2 pathway. Taken together, these results suggest that P. oleracea L. extracts could be a potential cosmeceutical agent for the prevention of skin photoaging or photodamage.

        EAF Slag의 해양복토제 활용을 위한 PO₄<SUP>­</SUP>-P 제거특성에 관한 연구

        본 연구에서는 제강전기로 슬래그를 해양복토제로 활용하기 위한 인제거 특성실험을 실시하였다. 제강전기로 슬래그의 PO₄<SUP>-</SUP>-P 제거 특성에 관한 시험 결과, 슬래그 내의 CaO는 Ca<SUP>2+</SUP>와 OH<SUP>-</SUP>로 이온화됨에 따라 PO₄<SUP>-</SUP>-P와 반응하여 HAP를 형성함으로써 용액 중에 존재하는 PO₄<SUP>-</SUP>-P를 효과적으로 제거하는 것으로 나타났다. 연속반응기를 통한 해수 내 PO₄<SUP>-</SUP>-P의 지속적인 유입에 대한 제거특성을 확인한 결과, 칼럼 내 PO₄<SUP>-</SUP>-P 농도는 반응 3일 이후 급격히 감소하여 10일 이후에는 0.5 ppm 이하로 나타났다. 실제 연안해역의 저질을 이용한 제강전기로 해양복토제 적용실험 결과, 반응 25일 후 PO₄<SUP>-</SUP>-P 발생량을 93∼ 98% 저감시키는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 제강전기로 슬래그를 해양복토제로 활용할 경우 PO₄<SUP>-</SUP>-P 제거 및 억제효과가 있으며, 파쇄선별 등 별도의 추가공정 없이 적은 량으로도 사용 가능할 것으로 판단된다. This study estimated the possibility of phosphate removal characteristics to utilize EAF(electric arc furnace) slag as submarine cover material. The major phosphate removal mechanism was a certain formation of HAP precipitation occurred by the ionization reaction between Ca<SUP>2+</SUP> and OH<SUP>-</SUP>, which were leached from the EAF Slag. Another phosphate removal mechanism was the adsortion of EAF slag surface. As a result of PO₄<SUP>-</SUP>-P removal characteristics using continuous column reactor, PO₄<SUP>-</SUP>-P concentration decreased rapidly after 3 days and 10 days later, it show under 0.5 ppm. The result as applied in real sea water, shows that the phosphate removal effects were 93∼98% by the subaqueous sediment removal using the EAF slag. In conclusion, EAF slag is useful in PO₄<SUP>-</SUP>-P removal and control and it is possible to use without additional process like crush and selection.

        In this study on the elimination of fetal membrane using the rectal massage in retention of placenta occurred to 25 heads of korean Native cattle, I could get the following results. 1. The placental elimination using the rectal massage in rotention of placenta, was much better in sanifation I could eliminate the fetal membrane within short time, and find no disturbamces in breeding after the manipulation. 2. Through this experiment I could remove the fetal membrane completely in 80%, Partially left in 8% and in 12% I removed the fetal membrane was so thin that I couldn't seperate it from the maternal placenta. 3. It was better to the rectal massage about 63 hours after the parturition. 4. In this experiment I couldn't expect a good result in breasing the body temperature and mulnutrition of mother cow.

        As seen above, in order to provide the measures to promote the physical fitness in Pusan, which would help build a city of health and sports in the 21st century, the field physical fitness was divided into areas of elite fitness and ordinary fitness for the purpose of studying the status of the Pusan physical fitness administration. The following conclusion was drawn for the two areas. 1) The area of elite fitness a) Increased awareness of officials in the area of physical fitness that are in line with the local autonomous government system. b) Pursuit of incorporating the associations of city and province into a corporation. c) Election of officials to fill the vacant positions and aggressive investment in facility and finance. d) Reenforcement of personnel for the officials in the office and providing measures for heightening the morale of the personnel(trainning and rotations of important positions). e) Efforts to host international and national sports events -> A festival format by incorporating the ordinary fitness. f) Creation of a Mecca for water sports. 2) The area of ordinary fitness a) Attracting policy interest in ordinary fitness using the mass media -> utilization of local broadcasting service and newspapers. b) Integration of sponsoring organization for ordinary fitness. c) Securement of professionals in the field and specialization of work. d) Cooperation in opening the fitness facilities to the public and more attention to the activities of voluntary sports groups. e) Creation of linkage and cooperation with school fitness and elite fitness in sports being sponsored. f) Promotion of water sports.

      • 營業停止 處分을 받은 衛生業主들의 意識行態

        A survey was conducted to 252 owners of restaurants and taverns who, during the period of from Jan, 1 1998 to Sept.15 1998, were ordered by the authorities concerned to suspend their businesses due to the violations of relevant laws an regulations. Out of 252 questioned 195(77.4%) were those who completed the required orientation course for owners of the above businesses. It is found that the rate of completion of the course are higher among those who had been running the business for a longer period of time, and alwo among those who had bigger facilities. Asked how they found the current laws and regulations relevant to their businesses, 68.7% of the surveyed replied that the existing laws and regulations should be abided by while 26.6% wanted flexible application of the laws and regulations. Those who demanded complete revision of the laws and regulations were only 4.8% of the questioned. Restaurant owners marked the high rate of 71.3% in the support of the existing laws and regulations, while tavern owners' supporting figure was around 60%. Analyzing the owners of restaurants and taverns who were ordered to suspend their businesses due to their violations of the relevant laws and regulations, it was found that female owners, owners with higher ages, less educated owners and owners of taverns were more likely to violate regulations than the others. And the older establishments, the smaller in size of establishment, and establishments with lesser number of employees were also found to be more likely to make violations. The reasons for the suspension of businesses were as follows in its order of percentage; violation of business hours(37.7%), selling of alcohol to minors(13.9%), abnormal business activities(12.7%), indecent entertainment(10.3%), employment of under-aged waitresses(8.3%). Public prosecutor's office, police, municipal office and district office of a city are empowered to enforce the relevant laws and regulations on restaurants and taverns and to suspend businesses, 43.3% of all the suspension of businesses were made by district offices and 42.5% of them by police, 48.8% of the respondents showed their preference for district office to other law enforcing agencies. Next came municipal office with 29.4% followed by public prosecutor's office(25.0%) and police(21.8%). 77.0% of the questioned answered that they would rather have paid fine than having been suspended of businesses. And most of the owner of the suspended businesses replied that the duration of suspension of businesses must be shortened. Most of the owners of restaurants and taverns who had experienced suspension of businesses(94.0%) replied that they would close their businesses for good if their businesses were suspended again. Asked to make any proposal or suggestion, 67.1% of the surveyed wanted that when any violation were found by the law-enforcing agencies the owners of the businesses were given a chance to correct it before being booked for violation.

        This study is designed to identify what effect the Taekwondo practice of elementary school students has on development of their personality. For the purpose of this study, elementary school students who now live in province were selected from six elementary schools and 18 Taekwondo places at random. Targets were 30 non- trainers from the six elementary schools and 360 trainers by selecting 10 trainers per Taekwondo place. Questionnaires were given to 327 students among selected 360 students. The responses of 300 students were used for an actual analysis Any questionnaires that were not completed or the response of which it was judged was not sincere were excluded from the analysis. To identify what effect the Taekwondo training of elementary school students has on development of personality, general nature of elementary school students, background of training, their attitudes at school, their social, emotional, and living aspects were studied and the results are as follows : First, the Taekwondo training of elementary school students has an effect on development in their attischool.       • 전하이동 착물형성에 따른 Mechanism 및 용매의 영향

        The formation of charge transfer complex between iodine and aniline in CHCl₃CHCl₄: CH₂Cl₂(1:1), CH₂Cl₂have been studied kinetically by using conductivity method. The initially formed outer charge transfer complex was transformed into a inner charge transfer complex. The pseudo first order rate constants and activation entropy are affected by solvent dielectric constant. The second order rate constants for the decomposition of the outer charge tranfer complex (first order in aniline and in the outer charge transfer complex) depend on the aniline concentration. The ease with which the transfermation proceeds depends on the relative magnitudes of the enthalpy of formation of the outer charge transfer complex as well as aniline concentration.

        For strength and competence of athletes, nutrition is the primary thing to be taken care of followed by the process of training. However, some athletes and coaches focus only on strength, techniques and reinforcement of mental strength whereas they do little care about nutrition. It is desirable that athletes should have a proper knowledge about nutrition, which can help proper training of weight control. To achieve the purpose within limited time, courses that provide training of nutrition and educational materials to increase educational effect should be developed. 1. Education about nutrition in our country is hardly available at schools except students of food and nutrition in universities. 2. People who are interested in weight control focuses on risks of health so that the consider what should be and necessity of weight control. 3. For enhancement of ㎈ory effectiveness, a small quantity of food intake several times per day is recommended for meals. 4. Athletes and coaches must have a full understanding of three performancerelated components such as carbohydrate, fat and protein among six essential nutrients : carbohydrates, fat, protein, vitamin, mineral and water. 5. Weight control through sauna may cause disorder is organism if it goes too far. 6. Coaches must provide regulations that weight control is performed through consistent training and more studies with experiments are necessary. 7. Tonic, vitamin tablets, ginseng, and pepper paste that have been considered to contribute to enhancement of competence have no significant and direct effect on competence. 8. For athletic competition, weight control by reducing body fat is recommended for athletes.

        근관 세척법이 Resilon/Epiphany sealer와 Gutta-percha/AH 26 sealer의 근관 상아질과의 접착에 미치는 영향

        본 연구에서는 근관 세척법이 두 가지 근관 충전재 (Gutta-percha/AH 26 sealer, Resilon/Epiphany sealer)의 근관 상아질과의 접착메 미치는 영향을 평가하였다. 총 30개의 발거된 상악 전치를 각자 5개씩 6개의 군으로 분류하여 근관 성형을 하고 마지막 세척을 다음과 같이 시행 한 후 Gl, G2, G3군은 Gutta-percha/AH 26 sealer로, Rl, R2, R3군은 Resilon/Epiphany sealer로 근관 충전하였다. Gl, Rl군 : 5.25% NaOCl세척 G2, R2군 : 5.25% NaOCl세척 후 sterile saline 세척 G3, R3군 : 5.25% NaOCl세척 후 17% EDTA, sterile saline 순으로 세척 각 군의 충전된 치아를 아크릴 레진에 매몰하고 약 1 mm 두께로 절단한 후 만능 물성 시험기상에서 push-out bond strength를 측정하였고 실험 후 파절 양상을 Image-analyzing microscope으로 관찰하여 다음과 같을 결과를 얻었다. 1. Gutta-percha/AH 26 sealer 충전군에서 Resilon/Epiphany sealer 충전군보다 push-out bond strength가 높게 나타났다 (p < 0.05). 2. Resilon/Epiphany sealer 충전군 중 17% EDTA, sterile saline순으로 세척시 5.25% NaOCl 세척에 비해 push-out bond strength가 높게 나타났다 (p<0.05). 3.파절 양상을 분석시 모든 군은 접착성과 혼합성 파절 양상을 나타내었고, Gl, G2, Rl 군은 응집성 파절 양상이 나타나지 않았으며, Resilon/Epiphany sealer 충전군은 Gutta-percha/AH 26 sealer 충전군에 비해 응집성과 혼합성 파절 망상이 더 높은 비율로 나타났다. The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether intracanal irrigation method could affect the adhesion between intracanal dentin and root canal filling materials (Gutta-percha/AH 26 sealer and Resilon/Epiphany sealer). Thirty extracted human incisor teeth were prepared. Canals were irrigated with three different irrigation methods as a final rinse and obturated with two different canal filling materials (G groups : Gutta-percha/AH 26 sealer, R groups : Resilon/Epiphany sealer) respectively. Group Gl, Rl - irrigated with 5.25% NaOCl Group G2, R2 - irrigated with 5.25% NaOCl, sterile saline Group G3, R3 - irrigated with 5.25% NaOCl, 17% EDTA, stehle saline Thirty obturated roots were horizontally sliced and push-out bond strength test was performed in the universal testing machine. After test, the failure patterns of the specimens were observed using Image-analyzing microscope. The results were as follows. 1. Gutta-percha/AH 26 sealer groups had significantly higher push-out bond strength compared with the Resilon/Epiphany sealer groups (p < 0.05). 2. Push-out bond strength was higher when using 17% EDTA followed by sterile saline than using NaOCl as a final irrigation solution in the Resilon/Epiphany sealer groups (p < 0.05). 3. In the failure pattern analysis, there was no cohesive failure in Group Gl, G2, and Rl. Gutta-percha/AH 26 sealer groups appeared to exhibit predominantly adhesive and mixed failure patterns, whereas Resilon/Epiphany sealer groups exhibited mixed failures with the cohesive failure occurred within the Resilon substrate.
