The hydrolysis of p-nitrophenyl acetate was catalytically promoted by the synthetic basic polypeptides. The first-order rate constants were linearly proportional to the tested concentration range (up to 4 mg/ml) of the basic polypeptides. The 1:1 (molar ratio of basic to hydrophobic residue) copolymer showed higher reactivity than the 4:1 copolymer. A plot of the logarithm of the second-order rate constants (Log K_cat/K_R) versus pK_a values of the basic residues showed linear-free-energy -relationship (LFER), and the slope was 0.4.

Cu^(2+) -nalidixate 또는 Cu^(2+) -pipemidate 시스템을 H_2O_2 및 아스코르빈산 존재하 방사능-표지된 DNA와 함께 37℃에서 배양시키므로써 산-용해성 분해산물들이 생성되었다. 본성 DNA 대신 변성 DNA를 기질로 쓸 경우 금속-drug 시스템의 DNA 절단활성은 현저하게 감소되었다. 또한 본성 DNA에 대한 절단활성은 DNA에의 전형적 intercalator이며 metalloquinolones의 DNA에의 결합에 대한 경쟁적 방해제가 될 수 있는 ethidium bromide에 의하여 저하되었다. Quinolone 항생제가 금속이온과의 킬레이트 복합체 형성을 통하여 DNA의 두가닥 나사선 염기쌍 사이에의 삽간결합(intercalation)을 할 수 있으며 이와 같은 결합을 이룬 금속복합체는 DNA 가닥에 대한 산화성 절단활성을 가질 수 있음을 시사한다. Incubation of Cu^(2+)-nalidixate or Cu^(2+)-pipemidate system with DNA at 37℃ in the presence of H_2O_2 and ascorbic acid resulted in the production of acid-soluble counts from dadioactively labeled DNA. With denatured DNA as substrate, the cleavage activity of the metalloquinolone systems was far less than with the native DNA. The DNA cleavage activity of metalloquinolones was also decreased by the addition of ethidium bromide, which was known to be a typical intercalator of DNA and was shown to be a competitive inhibitor for the metalloquinolone binding to DNA. The data here suggest the DNA cleavage activity of quinolone antibiotics intercalated into DNA as metal chelate complexes.

In order to evaluate six formula of T_(c) presented in the facilities criterion of small basin, the water stages were observed on fifteen mountainous small basin in Sanchung county region. The results of six formula compared with the observed data to evaluate T_(c). All basin area were less than 2.25 ㎢. The average basin area was 1.19 ㎢, the average basin length was 1.65 ㎢, the average basin slope was 6.95%, average length and slope of main channel were 1.86 ㎞ and 7%. The average T_(c) was 33.77 minutes and results of six formula showed the changes in average and standard deviation widely. The conclusions obtained in this study are as follows. The time of concentration was influenced basin slope, basin length, basin slope and channel slope consequently but did not affected the shape factor of basin.
중금속이 nalidixic acid 향균활성에 미치는 효과

In the present study, the metallodrug formation of nalidixic acid, the first member of the quinolone antibiotics with heavy metal ions such as Cu^2+ and Tb^3+ was studied by UV-spectrophotometric titration method, and the effect of the nalidixic acid-metal complex on the growth of both gram negative (E. coli K1100) and gram positive (B. subtilis KCTC1210) bacteria was investigated. It was found that the complex was more effective in the inhibition of the growth than only nalidixic acid alone without the metal. The antibiotic effect of the metallodrug may result from the inhibition of DNA synthesis of the bacteria.
Cu^2+-quinolone 복합체 존재하 DNA의 DNase Ⅰ에 대한 가수분해 반응성 증가

특히, 그람음성 세균에 대한 활성을 가지며 Escherichia coli, Proteus 및 Klebsiella류의 감염에 의한 요도염(urinary tract infections)의 임상학적 치료에 유효함이 증명된1-5 합성 항균제인 nalidixic acid(lethy1-1,4-dihydro-7-methyl-4-oxo-1,8-naphthyridine-3-carboxylic acid)를 비롯한 quinolones 항균제의 개발연구가6 국내외 공히 활발하게 진해되고 있음에도 불구하고 그 작용 메커니즘이 제대로 밝혀지지 못하고있는 실정이다. 이들은 DNA합성을 방해 하므로써 향균 기능을 갖는다고 알려져 있으나 그 표적물(target)이 무엇인가에 대하여는 불분명하다. 이들 quinolones는 생리적 pH에서 음이온으로 존재하므로 정전기적 반발로 인하여 다음이온성(polyanionic)인 DNA와의 직접적 상호작용 가능성이 배제되어 왔으며 일반적인 견해는 DNA gyrase subunit A가 nalidixic acid의 특이한 target인 것으로 알려져 있다.

Objective To find out whether levels of fibrin degradation products (FDP) and D-dimer are increased in breast cancer-related lymphedema (BCRL) as in many vascular diseases. FDP and D-dimer have been used in blood tests to help differentiate deep vein thrombosis in the diagnosis of lymphedema. Levels of FDP and D-dimer are often elevated in patients with BCRL. Methods Patients with BCRL (group I), non-lymphedema after breast cancer treatment (group II), and deep venous thrombosis (group III) from January 2012 to December 2016 were enrolled. Levels of FDP and D-dimer were measured in all groups and compared among groups. Results Mean values of FDP and D-dimer of group I were 5.614±12.387 and 1.179±2.408 μg/μL, respectively. These were significantly higher than their upper normal limits set in our institution. Levels of FDP or D-dimer were not significantly different between group I and group II. However, values of FDP and D-dimer in group III were significantly higher than those in group I. Conclusion Values of FDP and D-dimer were much higher in patients with thrombotic disease than those in patients with lymphedema. Thus, FDP and D-dimer can be used to differentiate between DVT and lymphedema. However, elevated levels of FDP or D-dimer cannot indicate the occurrence of lymphedema.

Objective To compare the long-term effect and safety of an epidural steroid injection in spinal stenosis patients, with or without local anesthetics.Methods Twenty-nine patients diagnosed with spinal stenosis were included and randomly divided into two groups. Translaminar epidural and selective nerve root spinal injection procedures were performed using steroids mixed with local anesthetics or normal saline. The effects of spinal injection procedures were measured with visual analogue scale (VAS) and functional rate index (FRI). These measurements were performed before injection, at 1 month after injection and at 3 months after injection. The occurrence of side effects was investigated each time.Results The VAS and FRI scores were significantly reduced in both the local anesthetics group and normal saline group at 1 and 3 months after the injection. However, there was no significant difference in VAS and FRI score reduction between the two groups each time. Side effects are not noted in both groups.Conclusion The spinal injection procedures using steroids mixed either with local anesthetics or normal saline have an effect in reducing pain and improving functional activities. However, there was no significant difference between the two groups in relation to side effects and the long-term effects of pain and function.
