        尿中 抗酸菌에 관한 연구

        A study on detection rates of acid-fast bacteria in urine by three sampling methods was performed on 898 cases randomly sampled from peoples who visited Dr. Chung's Health Lab. from January to December, 1983. Positive rate by 5 times sampling of motring urine was 7.0% and 12.5% higher than that of 24 hours sampling. Therefore, 5 times sampling of morning urine method was considered to be desirable method for the test of ambulatory cases.

        <P>We studied hydrogen adsorption onto the oxidized nano-palladium surface using <SUP>1</SUP>H NMR. In the α phase, the incoming hydrogen molecules dissociate and form OH<SUB>ad</SUB>. We confirm that the <img SRC='http://ej.iop.org/images/0953-8984/18/13/001/cm210477ieqn1.gif' ALIGN='MIDDLE' ALT='\mathrm {OH_{ad}} \rightarrow \mathrm {H_2O}(\uparrow) '/> transformation occurs during the α–β phase transition by observing a decrease in OH<SUB>ad</SUB> resonance intensity.</P>

        Mycobacterium mageritense에 의한 당뇨병성 족부 감염증 1예

        Diabetic foot infection is one of the important complications in patients with advanced diabetes mellitus. Limb threatening infections such as osteomyelitis, abscess, and necrotizing fasciitis are frequently accompanied by the disease. Non-tuberculous mycobacterium (NTM) is a rare causative organism of diabetic foot infection. Thus, if one is not suspicious or meticulous, infection due to NTM will be easily overlooked and this will result in delayed diagnose and treat. Therefore, it is necessary to consider NTM as the causative organism if the wound does not respond to the conventional antibiotic treatment and the culture from the adequately obtained specimen reveals atypical acid-fast bacilli. We present a case of diabetic foot infection with osteomyelitis and abscess due to Mycobacterium mageritense, one of the rapid growing mycobacteria, that was successfully treated with surgical debridement and appropriate antibiotic treatment.

        소비자 조사와 착의 실험을 통한 온도감응형 기능성 의류개발을 위한 기초연구

        In this research, consumer awareness investigation and wearing test were carried out for obtaining useful data on the development of thermo-sensitive functional clothing material. A survey involved 216 people in Seoul and Kyeonggi- do, and 200 questionnaires data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and frequency using SPSS 17.0. Four healthy men in twenties were participated for wearing test. Subjects in normal loungewear were exposed to temperature change from the initial temperature 30oC down to 5oC for an hour in a climate chamber. The environmental temperature, surface temperature of garment and skin were measured. As a result, most of respondents have all season clothing products such as underwear, hosiery, and jogging suit for loungewear. Also, thermo regulator y functional clothes are frequently used as underwear and sweat shirt. The consumer awareness investigation on thermo regulatory functional clothing showed that the most important key buying factor is quick climate temperature response, easy maintenance, design and cost, in that order. Surface temperature of garment went down with the cooling down of environmental temperature. The lower environmental temperature, the greater temperature difference by body part showed. Skin temperature change by environmental temperature showed similar tendency of garment surface temperature. In comparison between garment surface and body skin, temperature difference became larger under the lower environmental temperature.

        C-reactive protein accelerates DRP1-mediated mitochondrial fission by modulating ERK1/2-YAP signaling in cardiomyocytes

        C-reactive protein (CRP) is an inflammatory marker and risk factor for atherosclerosis and cardiovascular diseases. However, the mechanism through which CRP induces myocardial damage remains unclear. This study aimed to determine how CRP damages cardiomyocytes via the change of mitochondrial dynamics and whether survivin, an anti-apoptotic protein, exerts a cardioprotective effect in this process. We treated H9c2 cardiomyocytes with CRP and found increased intracellular ROS production and shortened mitochondrial length. CRP treatment phosphorylated ERK1/2 and promoted increased expression, phosphorylation, and translocation of DRP1, a mitochondrial fission-related protein, from the cytoplasm to the mitochondria. The expression of mitophagy proteins PINK1 and PARK2 was also increased by CRP. YAP, a transcriptional regulator of PINK1 and PARK2, was also increased by CRP. Knockdown of YAP prevented CRP-induced increases in DRP1, PINK1, and PARK2. Furthermore, CRP-induced changes in the expression of DRP1 and increases in YAP, PINK1, and PARK2 were inhibited by ERK1/2 inhibition, suggesting that ERK1/2 signaling is involved in CRP-induced mitochondrial fission. We treated H9c2 cardiomyocytes with a recombinant TAT-survivin protein before CRP treatment, which reduced CRP-induced ROS accumulation and reduced mitochondrial fission. CRP-induced activation of ERK1/2 and increases in the expression and activity of YAP and its downstream mitochondrial proteins were inhibited by TAT-survivin. This study shows that mitochondrial fission occurs during CRPinduced cardiomyocyte damage and that the ERK1/2-YAP axis is involved in this process, and identifies that survivin alters these mechanisms to prevent CRP-induced mitochondrial damage.       • Interpretation of Infrared Spectra of Renal Calculi with Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy

        신장결석 환자 2예를 대상으로 하여 체외 충격파 쇄석술 후 요 중에 존재하는 결석 성분의 FT-IR spectrum을 Sweet의 Flow chart법을 이용하여 분석한 결과, 환자 A의 경우에는 oxalate와 urate를 그리고 환자 B의 경우에는 phosphate를 주성분으로 확인할 수 있었다. 이 방법은 신속하고 정확한 분석을 재현성 있게 감별할 수 있어서 임상 검사실에서 그 유용성이 클 것으로 사료된다. For objective qualitative analysis of the IR spectra of renal calculi, We introduced systematic schemes devised by R V. Sweet for Two case of patients. We could obtained the renal calculi samples by method of Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy. In the case of patients A, the calculi sample contains oxalate and urate and in the case of patient B, it was phosphate as a main components. The method requires less time than standard-comparing method and it's considered very useful method for clinical pathology field.

        Li-CICs의 Deintercalation에 따른 구조변이와 열적, 전기적 안정성과의 관계(Ⅱ) : The relation of structural transition, thermal and electrical stability deinter calation of Li-CICs(Ⅱ):For Li-EaGDICs and Li-EGDICs

        가온 가압법에 의하여 합성된 Li-EaGICs, Li-EGlCs를 자발적으로 분해시켜서 이들의 deintercalation 과정에 대하여 X-선 회절분석, 열분해분석 몇 전기비저항값을 측정하여 이들 결과에 대하여 토론하였다. Intercalation에 대한 X-선 회절분석 결과에 의하면, Li-EaGlCs와 Li-EGlCs는 1 stage가 완전하게 형성되지 않았고, 주로 저차 stage가 형성되었다. 또한 deintercalation 결과에 의하면, 4주 이후에는 deintercalation이 멈추었으며 Li-EGDICs는 Li-EaGDlCs보다 층간 잔유 금속을 많이 가지고 있음을 알 수 있다. 열분해분석 결과에 의하면 두 가지 화합물 모두 강한 발열반응을 수반하였으며, 또한 400℃ 이 상에서는 반응이 수반되지 않는 것으로 보아 intercalants들이 완전히 deintercalation되었음을 알 수 있다. 전기 비저항 측정 결과에 의하면 Li-EGDICs는 상대적으로 낮은 비저항값을 가지고 있었으며, Li-EaGDICs는 이상적인 비저항 곡선을 나타내었다. 이들 결과로부터 Li-EaGlCs가 Li-EGICs보다 2차 전지의 양극재료로서 더 좋은 성질을 가지고 있음을 알 수 있다.

      • MTT법을 이용한 사람 골육종과 상피암 세포주들에 대한 항암제 감수성 검사

        Three anticancer agents which are different in time or dosage dependence, as well as in phase specificity namely mitomycin and adriamycin from natural products and widely used synthetic drug 5 FU, were evaluated for their chemosensivitivy on the five different cancer cell lines ; Four epidermoid carcinomas originated from larynx, cervix, skin and gut were used together with one osteosarcoma as the target cells of single and combined administration of anticancer drugs. Semiautomated tetrazolium dye assay(MTT) appears to offer an attractive option for chemosensitivity of the head and neck cancers since it is a simple, valid and inexpensive method of assessing chemosensityvity for large sample in a short time. The results obtained from this study were as follows. l. Good correlations were obtained with the results of the MTT test and those of ^3H thymidine uptake assay. 2. LD_50 values of HIST and St.Ca, which showed relatively high doubling time on adriamycin were 30㎍/㎖ and 15 ㎍/㎖ while those of HeLa, HEp-2 and KHOS/NP were 2.1㎍/㎖, 4.8㎍/㎖, and 6.8㎍/㎖ respectively. 3. The LD_50 value of 5-FU five cancer cells on were very high ranging from 15㎍/㎖ to almost indefinite number, which means 5 FU is very resisitant to epidermotd carcinomas or osteosarcoma examined in this study. 4. Mitomycin was relatively effective showing 80% cancer cell killing effect on HeLa, 70% on St.Ca, and 50% on HEp-2 at the high concentrations used. 5. Adriamycin was the most effective showing 90% cancer cell killing effect on KHOS/NP, 98% on Hela, 80% on HEp-2, and St. Ca. The least susceptible cancer cells towa adriamycin was HIST having only 55% cell killing effect at the high concentration. 6. Combined therapy of adriamycin and 5-FU was more effective than single administration in all the cases, examined. Most effective synergism was observed on St. Ca. At the low concentration, showing 21 times higher than each single administration.
