Site Preference of Alloying Elements in DO22-Ni3V Phase: Phase-Field and First-Principles Study

        Ding-Ni Zhang,Qian-Qian Shangguan,Fu Liu,Ming-Yi Zhang 대한금속·재료학회 2015 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.21 No.4

Site preference of alloying elements in DO22-Ni3V phase was investigated using phase-field and first-principles method. The concentrations of alloying elements on sublattices of DO22-Ni3V phase were quantitatively studied using phase-field model based on microscopic diffusion equations. The phase-field computation results demonstrate that the concentration differences of alloying elements on the NiI and NiII site are attributed to the coordination environment difference. Host atoms Ni and substitutional ternary additions Al prefer to occupy NiI site. Antisite atoms V show site preference on the NiII site. Further reason of site preference of alloying elements on the two different Ni sites were studied using first-principles method to calculate the electronic structure of DO22-Ni3V phase. Calculation of density of states, orbitals population and charge population of the optimized Ni3V structure found that the electronic structures of NiI and NiII sites are different. Electronic structure difference, which is caused by coordination environment difference, is the essential reason for site selectivity behaviors of alloying elements on NiI and NiII sites.

Hai Ming Ni,Da Wei Qi,Hongbo Mu 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Hybrid Information Techno Vol.8 No.1

Fingerprint features recognition which can be used to distinguish between individuals is an intriguing study with many potential applications. In this paper, a new method for fingerprint recognition based on multifractal spectrum theory was proposed. The recognition process can be divided into the following main steps: (1) Extracting the core point in fingerprint; (2) Fragmenting the fingerprint image to get a subimage with fixed size; (3) Thinning the fingerprint image by using an improved OPTA algorithm; (4) Segmenting the curves in fingerprint image into digital straight segments with normalized straight length threshold; (5) Selecting the appropriate dividing scale to segment the processed fingerprint image; (6) Calculating and analyzing the multifractal spectrum curve - f (a) ; (7) Fitting curve equation and extracting the characteristic parameters of a - f(a); (8) Finally, the parameters matching and fingerprint feature recognition. A large number of experimental results show that our method is effective.

As traditional Chinese medicine and edible insects, Ve s p a hornets have high economic value and huge market demand. Hornet breeding has become an important way to increase the income of mountain farmers in China, but the limitation of traditional identification methods has become the bottleneck of the modern development of hornet resources. In this study, a simple and reliable method for the molecular identification of typical hornets from Yunnan was successfully established. In the NCBI database, DNA sequences of hornet samples were aligned as Vespa analis, Ve s p a b a s a l i s , Vespa velutina, Vespa mandarinia, Ve s p a m a g n i f i c a , Ve s p a b i n g h a m i , Ve s p a s o r o r by BLAST search. The efficiency of the PCR amplification of mitochondrial cytochrome C oxidase I (COI) gene sequences in all samples was 100% by using the optimized program. Moreover, a reference database for DNA barcodes of Vespa materials in Yunnan was constructed. This study provided a successful example for the identification of local insects of Yunnan and will be helpful to the development of wasp resources.

Comprehensive profiles and diagnostic value of menopausal-specific gut microbiota in premenopausal breast cancer

        Hou Ming-Feng,Ou-Yang Fu,Li Chung-Liang,Chen Fang-Ming,Chuang Chieh-Han,Kan Jung-Yu,Wu Cheng-Che,Shih Shen-Liang,Shiau Jun-Ping,Kao Li-Chun,Kao Chieh-Ni,Lee Yi-Chen,Moi Sin-Hua,Yeh Yao-Tsung,Cheng Chi 생화학분자생물학회 2021 Experimental and molecular medicine Vol.53 No.-

In Western countries, breast cancer tends to occur in older postmenopausal women. However, in Asian countries, the proportion of younger premenopausal breast cancer patients is increasing. Increasing evidence suggests that the gut microbiota plays a critical role in breast cancer. However, studies on the gut microbiota in the context of breast cancer have mainly focused on postmenopausal breast cancer. Little is known about the gut microbiota in the context of premenopausal breast cancer. This study aimed to comprehensively explore the gut microbial profiles, diagnostic value, and functional pathways in premenopausal breast cancer patients. Here, we analyzed 267 breast cancer patients with different menopausal statuses and age-matched female controls. The α-diversity was significantly reduced in premenopausal breast cancer patients, and the β-diversity differed significantly between breast cancer patients and controls. By performing multiple analyses and classification, 14 microbial markers were identified in the different menopausal statuses of breast cancer. Bacteroides fragilis was specifically found in young women of premenopausal statuses and Klebsiella pneumoniae in older women of postmenopausal statuses. In addition, menopausal-specific microbial markers could exhibit excellent discriminatory ability in distinguishing breast cancer patients from controls. Finally, the functional pathways differed between breast cancer patients and controls. Our findings provide the first evidence that the gut microbiota in premenopausal breast cancer patients differs from that in postmenopausal breast cancer patients and shed light on menopausal-specific microbial markers for diagnosis and investigation, ultimately providing a noninvasive approach for breast cancer detection and a novel strategy for preventing premenopausal breast cancer.

        Niu, Yu-Ming,Shen, Ming,Li, Hui,Ni, Xiao-Bing,Zhou, Juan,Zeng, Xian-Tao,Leng, Wei-Dong,Wu, Ming-Yue Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.8

Objective: Findings for associations between the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) A1298C gene polymorphism and head and neck cancer risk have been conflicting. We therefore performed a meta-analysis to derive a more precise relationship. Methods: Ten published case-control studies were collected and odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were used to assess the association between MTHFR A1298C polymorphism and head and neck cancer risk. Sensitivity analysis and publication bias assessment also were performed to guarantee the statistical power. Results: Overall, no significant association between MTHFR A1298C polymorphism and head and neck cancer risk was found in this meta-analysis (C vs. A: OR=1.04, 95%CI=0.87-1.25, P=0.668, Pheterogeneity<0.001; CC vs. AA: OR=1.07, 95%CI=0.70-1.65, P=0.748, $P_{heterogeneity}<0.001$; AC vs. AA: OR=1.06, 95%CI=0.88-1.27, P=0.565, $P_{heterogeneity}<0.001$; CC+AC vs. AA: OR=1.06, 95%CI=0.86-1.30, P=0.571, $P_{heterogeneity}<0.001$; CC vs. AA+AC: OR=1.02, 95%CI=0.69-1.52, P=0.910, $P_{heterogeneity}<0.001$). Similar results were also been found in succeeding analysis of HWE and stratified analysis of ethnicity. Conclusion: In conclusion, our meta-analysis demonstrates that MTHFR A1298C polymorphism may not be a risk factor for developing head and neck cancer.

The Clamping Position Optimization and Deformation Analysis for an Antenna Thin Wall Parts Assembly with ASA, MIGA and PSO Algorithm

        Ming-hui Pan,Wen-cheng Tang,Yan Xing,Jun Ni 한국정밀공학회 2017 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.18 No.3

In order to reduce the deformation and assembly error in an antenna thin wall parts assembly process, the assembly location or clamping positions need to be optimized. In this paper, the effect of clamping positions and clamping force on the thin wall parts deformation is analyzed considering the gravity by finite element simulation under different clamping force. The clamping positions are optimized with the Adaptive Simulated Annealing (ASA), Multi-Island Genetic Algorithm (MIGA) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm by Isight software to reduce the deformation. Comparing with MIGA and PSO method, the results show that the clamping position optimization based on ASA exhibits the better results and superior than the MIGA and PSO no matter whether it has the effect of gravity. Simultaneously, through establishing the contact force model and contact deformation model, the nonlinear relationship between contact force, contact deformation and contact area is qualitatively analyzed, and the node deformation is calculated by theoretical formula. Comparing with those results, it is shown that the theoretical value matches well with the simulation results. Finally, some clamping scheme principles are proposed so that it provides a basis for reducing the deformation and assembly error of thin wall parts in future.

        Ni, Lubin,Zhang, Wang,Wu, Zhen,Sun, Chunyu,Cai, Yin,Yang, Guang,Chen, Ming,Piao, Yuanzhe,Diao, Guowang Elsevier 2017 APPLIED SURFACE SCIENCE - Vol.396 No.-

Abstract

Graphene-based materials have received worldwide attention in the focus of forefront energy storage investigations. Currently, the design of novel three-dimensional (3D) graphene structures with high energy capability, superior electron and ion conductivity, and robust mechanical flexibility is still a great challenge. Herein, we have successfully demonstrated a novel approach to fabricate 3D assembled graphene through the supramolecular interactions of β-cyclodextrin polymers (β-CDP) with an adamantine end-capped poly(ethylene oxide) polymer linker (PEG-AD). The incorporation of PEG-AD linker into rGO sheets increased the interlayer spacing of rGO sheets to form 3D graphene materials, which can provide efficient 3D electron transfer pathways and ion diffusion channels, and facilitate the infiltration of gel electrolyte. The as-prepared 3D self-assembled graphene materials exhibit significantly improved electrochemical performances of supercapacitor in terms of high specific capacitance, remarkable rate capability, and excellent cycling stability compared to pristine reduced graphene oxide. • Postmenopausal Hormone Therapy is Associated with in Situ Breast Cancer Risk

        Ni, Xiao-Jian,Xia, Tian-Song,Zhao, Ying-Chun,Ma, Jing-Jing,Zhao, Jie,Liu, Xiao-An,Ding, Qiang,Zha, Xiao-Ming,Wang, Shui Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.8

Background: The relationship between postmenopausal hormone therapy (HT) and invasive breast cancer has been extensively investigated, but that with breast carcinoma in situ (BCIS) has received relatively little attention. The aim of our present study was to review and summarize the evidence provided by longitudinal studies on the association between postmenopausal HT use and BCIS risk. Methods: A comprehensive literature search for articles published up to May 2012 was performed. Prior to performing a meta-analysis, the studies were evaluated for publication bias and heterogeneity. Relative risk (RR) or odds ratio (OR) values were calculated using 14 reports (8 case-control studies and 6 cohort studies), published between 1986 and 2012. Results: There was evidence of an association between ever postmenopausal estrogen use and BCIS based on a random-effects model (RR = 1.25, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.01, 1.55). However, we found no strong evidence of an association between ever postmenopausal estrogen combined with progesterone use and BCIS using a randomeffects model (RR = 1.55, 95% CI = 0.95, 2.51). Furthermore, our analysis showed a strong association between "> 5 years duration" of estrogen or estrogen combined with progesterone use and BCIS. Furthermore, current use of any HT is associated with increased risk of BCIS in cohort studies. Additional well-designed large studies are now required to validate this association in different populations.

BRCA1 Reversion Mutation Confers Resistance to Olaparib and Camrelizumab in a Patient with Breast Cancer Liver Metastasis

        Jia-Ni Pan,Lei Lei,Wei-Wu Ye,Xiao-Jia Wang,Wen-Ming Cao 한국유방암학회 2021 Journal of breast cancer Vol.24 No.5

Reversion mutations are associated with clinical resistance to poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitors (PARPi). Here, we describe the detection of a BRCA1 reversion mutation in a 39-year-old woman with metastatic breast cancer harboring a heterozygous germline BRCA1 exons 7–8 deletion who received PARPi olaparib combined with immune checkpoint inhibitor camrelizumab as third-line therapy. During progression from the olaparib and camrelizumab combination therapy, we identified via genomic sequencing a novel 7-base pair somatic deletion in BRCA1 (c.617_623delACAAATC). Sequence analyses indicated that this mutation realigned the reading frame of BRCA1, which potentially led to the reversal of its normal function and conferred resistance to PARPi.
