光 多變色 迷路裝置에 의한 초파리의 光鮮好性 差異에 관한 遺傳學的 硏究

The present experiments for positive and negative walking behavior were carried out with the popula-tions of Drosophila melanogaster, collected from eight localities of the Korean peninsula. The behavior was examined by means of photo-varicolored ladyrinth apparatus. The realized heritabi-lity for males on difference in photo-preference was estimated to the about 3.4∼9.4% for the positivewalking behavior, and that for negative behavior was about 4.2~8.6% . The heritability for femaleswas estimated to be about 1.0∼12.6% for the positive walking behavior, and that for negative behaviorwas about 2.4∼9.5%. Walking score for males and females in inland was estimated to be about 2,00~3,00 for the positivewalking behavior, and that for negative behavior was about 1,00∼1.25. Walking score for males and females on the coast was estimated to be about 2.25~2.90 for the positivewalking behavior, and that for negative behavior was about 1.16∼1.50. In conclusion, the walking behavior of photo-varicolored preference showed that it prefered bluelight color best, second; yellow, third; red, and last; dark. It seems resonable to assume that thewalking behavior is possibly controlled by a major gene.

‘Nampungchal’ is a Sorghum bicolor L. developed and registered by Department of Sothern area crop science, NICS, RDA in 2012. This variety was developed through pure line breeding method from ‘Namhae’ landrace. ‘Nampungchal’ is a medium maturing variety having 68 days from planting to heading of sorghum in Miryang, Korea. The plant is pigmented(purple), the glumes and grains are red-brown with waxy endosperm. The panicle has less compact shape and the length is 23cm. The grain yield of ‘Nampungchal’ is about 2.28MT/ha that is higher 9%, when compared with standard variety ‘Hwanggeumchal’. Culm length and width are about 142 cm and 20.2 cm, respectively. It could be reduce the lodging problem by thicker stems and also adapted to mechanized cultivation. ‘Nampungchal’ does produce high quantities of polyphenol and tannin contents with DPPH radical scavenging activity in pigmented testa. The object of this breeding program is improvement for mechanized production with high yield potential, lodging resistant, and responsive to favorable environmental conditions.

BACKGROUND: In order to develop effective assessment method for Korean paddy soil microbial community structure, reliable genomic DNA extraction method from paddy soil and quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) method are needed to establish METHODS AND RESULTS: Out of six conventional soil genomic DNA extraction methods, anion exchange resin purification method was turn to be the most reliable. Various PCR primers for distinguishing five bacterial phylum (a-Proteobacteria, β-Proteobacteria, Actinobacteria, Bacteroidetes, Firmicutes), all bacteria, and all fungi were tested. Various qRT-PCR temperature conditions were also tested by repeating experiment. Finally, both genomic DNA extraction and qRT-PCR methods for paddy soil were well established. CONCLUSION: Quantitativereal-timePCR(qRT-PCR)method to assess paddy soil microbial community was established.

MV -Algebras of Continuous Functions and l-Monoids

A. Di Nola & S.Sessa [8] showed that two compact spaces X and Y are homeomorphic iff the MV -algebras C(X, I) and C(Y, I) of continuous functions defined on X and Y respectively are isomorphic. And they proved that A is a semisimple MV -algebra iff A is a subalgebra of C(X) for some compact Hausdorff space X. In this paper, firstly by use of functorial argument, we show these characterization theorems. Furthermore we obtain some other functorial results between topological spaces and MV -algebras. Secondly as a classical problem, we find a necessary and sufficient condition on a given residuated l-monoid that it is segmenently embedded into an l-group with order unit.
Cyclooxygenase-2 promotes cell proliferation, migration andinvasion in U2OS human osteosarcoma cells

Osteosarcoma is the most comon primary bone tu-mor, but the pathogenesis is not well understood. While cyclooxygeanse-2 (COX-2) is known to be close-ly associated with tumor growth and metastasis in sev-eral kinds of human tumors, the function of COX-2 in osteosarcoma is unclear. Therefore, to investigate the function of COX-2 in osteosarcoma, we established stable cell lines overexpressing COX-2 in U2OS human osteosarcoma cells. COX-2 overexpression as well as prostaglandin E2 treatment promoted proliferation of U2OS cells. In addition, COX-2 overexpression enhanced mobility and invasiveness of U2OS cells, which was accompanied by increases of matrix metalloproteinase- 2 and -9 (MMP-2 and -9) activities. Selective COX-2 inhibitors, NS-398 and celecoxib, inhibited cell proliferation and abrogated the enhanced mobility, invasiveness and MMP activities induced by COX-2 overexpression. These results suggest that COX-2 is directly associated with cell proliferation, migrationand invasion in human osteosarcoma cells, and the therapeutic value of COX-2 inhibitors should be evaluated continuously.
소화성 궤양 환자의 헬리코박터 파이로리 제균치료에서 Rabeprazole 삼제요법의 전향적 연구

Background/Aims: Rabeprazole sodium is a potent proton pump inhibitor. We assessed the efficacy, safety and compliance of one-week triple therapy including rabeprazole with amoxicillin and clarithromycin for eradication of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori). Methods: Eighty-eight H. pylori-positive patients with peptic ulcer disease were received rabeprazole 10 mg bid, amoxicillin 1,000 mg bid and clarithromycin 500 mg bid for a week. Endoscopic examination with five biopsies (two specimens from the antrum, two from the gastric body, and one from the gastric angle) was performed. The status of H. pylori infection was assessed by histology (immunohistochemistry) of the biopsy specimens, 13C urea breath test, and CLO test at the beginning and 13C urea breath test 4 weeks after the completion of treatment. Results: H. pylori eradication rates were 74.71% by intention-to-treat analysis and 87.84% by per-protocol analysis. The percentage of side effects was 12.5% and these side effects were not serious. Conclusions: One-week rabeprzole based triple therapy is an effective and safe regimen for H. pylori eradication in patients with peptic ulcer. (Korean J Gastroenterol 2003;42:102-107)
