        Spherical Functions on Projective Class Algebras

        Let $F^\alpha G$ be a twisted group algebra with basis $\{u_g |g \in G\}$ and ${\mathcal P}= \{ {\mathcal C}_g | g \in G \}$ be a partition of $G$. A projective class algebra associated with ${\mathcal P}$ is a subalgebra of $F^\alpha G$ generated by all class sums $\sum_{x \in {\mathcal C}_g} u_x$. A main object of the paper is to find interrelationships of projective class algebras in $F^\alpha G$ and in $F^\alpha H$ for $H<G$. And the $\alpha$-spherical function will play an important role for the purpose. We find functional properties of $\alpha$-spherical functions and investigate roles of $\alpha$-spherical functions as characters of projective class algebras.

        Preparation and Characterization of a Cation Exchange Membrane Using a Styrene-Hydroxyethyl Acrylate-Lauryl Methacrylate Terpolymer

        A novel cation exchange membrane based on a styrene-hydroxyethyl acrylate-lauryl methacrylate terpolymer (St-HEA-LMA) was prepared. Sulfonic groups were introduced to the membrane structure with sulfuric acid as the sulfonating agent and silver sulfate as the initiator. Sulfonated St-HEA-LMA terpolymer membranes were characterized by Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy (AFM), as well as by determining the degree of sulfonation (DS), ion-exchange capacity (IEC), swelling ratio and electrical resistance of the membranes. The presence of sulfonic groups in the sulfonated St-HEA-LMA terpolymer was confirmed by FTIR, and the resulting membrane exhibited an ion-exchange capacity of 2.13 meq/g and an electrical resistance of 1.17 Ω·cm2. The swelling ratio of the prepared membranes increased with increasing degree of sulfonation, and the tensile strength decreased with increasing degree of sulfonation at a reaction temperature of 30 oC. The phase images obtained by AFM clearly showed an increase in roughness with increasing DS. Considering the mechanical properties, the sulfonated St-HEA-LMA terpolymer obtained at a sulfonation reaction temperature of 20 oC was suitable for ion-exchange membrane applications.

        A Method for Making Kimchi Containing Snow Crab in a COVID-19 Environment

        Purpose: The purpose of this study is to develop a kimchi recipe for immunity enhancement using snow crab, which has high food value in the era of COVID-19. Research design, data and methodology: The snow crab kimchi manufacturing method of this study includes the steps of preparing a kimchi seasoning containing snow crab seasoning and chitosan powder. Kimchi seasoning is made by adding 5 parts by weight of crab seasoning and 1 part by weight of chitosan powder to 100 parts by weight of the basic kimchi seasoning prepared by mixing radish, minced garlic, minced ginger, onion juice, anchovy sauce, red pepper powder and glutinous rice paste. Results: It was possible to develop new flavors, possibilities and characteristics of snow crab kimchi by extending the health and functional effects, taste, and preservation period without significantly changing the unique manufacturing method, taste and function of kimchi, including snow crab. Conclusions: Snow crab kimchi was excellent in taste and aroma while enhancing the health functions of the body, such as improving people's immunity. The developed snow crab kimchi manufacturing method can not only improve people's health, but also expand the choice of preference for kimchi taste and shelf life.

        RESULTANT AND DISCRIMINANT OF ITERATE POLYNOMIALS

        The resultant and discriminant of composite polynomi-als were studied by McKay and Wang using some algebraic prop-erties. In this paper we study the resultant and discriminant of iterate polynomials. We shall use elementary computations of ma-trices and block matrix determinants; this could provide not only the values but also the visual structure of resultant and discriminant from elementary matrix calculation.

        방정식의 판별식과 교육과정에서 활용 방안

        수학교육과정에서 이차방정식 풀이와 관련되어 소개되는 판별식이 삼차 이상의 방정식의 판별식으로 발전하는 역사적 과정을 살펴보고, 고차방정식의 판별식의 역할을 연구한다. 이를 바탕으로 학교수학에서 고차방정식 지도에 활용할 수 있는 방안을 알아본다. The discriminant is one of the important concepts in school mathematics according to second degree polynomials. In this paper we survey the history of development to discriminant of any higher degree polynomials and investigate how the discriminant works for determining the graph of polynomials.

        두피 신경 차단술이 개두술 후 통증에 미치는 영향

        Background: Sympathetic stimulation associated with post-craniotomy pain might subsequently increase blood pressure resulting in postoperative complications. We studied whether scalp nerve blocks would reduce the severity of postoperative pain. Methods: Thirty-two patients undergoing craniotomy were randomly allocated to either the ropivacaine group (n = 16) or the saline group (n = 16). After the skin closure, we carried out scalp nerve blocks with ropivacaine (0.75%) or saline (0.9%). Visual analog scale scores (VAS), mean arterial pressure, and heart rate were measured at 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 6, 12, 24, and 48 h after extubation. Tramadol 50 mg iv was used as rescue analgesic. The delay before administration of the first analgesic and cumulative dose of rescue analgesic for the first 48 h postoperatively were measured. Results: The ropivacaine group had lower analgesic requirements than the saline group (P = 0.008). The delay before administration of the first analgesic was not different significantly between two groups. VAS was similar between the two groups at each time interval. Postoperative MAP and HR were not significantly different between two groups. VAS did not correlate with these hemodynamic variables. Conclusions: Although scalp nerve blocks with ropivacaine reduced the analgesic requirement, they did not provide the sufficient pain relief.
